daniel danger is happy to not be in a van 30

We had tons of fun with Kevin yesterday, but it's not over, yet. I guess most of you are on Daniel Dangers mailing list, but I'll post anyway what ended up in my inbox this morning…

justin myer staller and myself play in a band called A City Safe From Sea, and we just finished up a week long mini tour of sorts with our friends The Summer Pledge...as for the print i did for LOST and its eventual availability... i know since pretty much every other artist sold their prints this past week many many many many many many many many people emailed me asking when i was putting mine up. i'm sorry if i didn't get back to everyone, there have been so so so many, and there's really only so many emails i could reply to on my iphone from a van. but i don't really have my plan for this yet. i suspect a cart system will be a nightmare, and an email lottery will just get flooded. the simple answer at the moment is: i will let my mailing list know in the next few days. be on it if you aren't, its over to the left there...

ok, back to coughing and wheezing and wishing i was asleep.

Great stuff...the one I've actually been waiting for.

Bizarro Season 6 dream last night! Very Daniel orientated (so seeing it's-Dan-not-van's projection is a bit freaky). All I can say is do not let me anywhere near Lost 2.0 if it's ever made...no wait, actually, do ;)

I hope this I have a chance at this one. Didn't try the first time, but after I saw it at 1988....

New posted, AGAIN.

I'm all for DCAAPB 2.0 but not a chance in he'll of a LO2T/LOST 2.0/LOST: The Next Generation!

Bubba Gump is amazing, been to the NY branch and the one at Islands of Adventures. Great food! Mmmm, hungry!

Like Maven, I'll be bringing my LU tee to Hawaii (to get signed of course) but debating between wearing Polar Beer, a Marvin Candle Tee or Patmcs Team Jacob tee. So many choices!

Looks like we'll be waiting a while for DD print as well. So glad I've got it. I have no need to go for the crash unless I want to flip it straight away but I truly don't have the heart to do that, so I'm all done with DCAAPB, well, maybe after I try and fail getting an Olly Moss tee that is. I have a 2hr 30min stopover in LAX coming back from Hawaii, enough time to get down to G1988 and back?

Short answer, no.

Long answer depends on the time of day, traffic and the lines at LAX. Even on a perfect run you would only have at most a few minutes to check out the gallery (assuming you need an hour to clear security to leave LA). That would not be worth the drive to me because you would feel like you didn't have enough time to really look at the art on the walls, also Jensen really likes to talk his art when you are the only one in the gallery. I learned a lot about the artists in the He-Man show going on now (bought the Eric Tan print, the framed #2 at the gallery).

I was wondering when this one will come out. Guess it's anyone's guess as to when. Good morning all. Well, not quite good yet, not enough coffee in me as of yet. 4:30 am is a bit early yet.

ChrisL said...

Lisa, Why do you put yourself through it? 4.30am starts! oooooof!

Morning all.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

we actually get up at 4, it's just that I can't write coherently till 4:30 lol Even then I have to watch it because I tend to make a lot of mistakes. My bf drives a school bus, he wants the bus warm for the kiddies so he makes sure to have his and all of the other buses on the lot started and warmed up before he takes off at 5:45 they take almost a hour to warm up. It gets damn cold here in the winter.

ChrisL said...

Lisa. Warm bus for the kiddies. Major thumbs up to your bf. Good man.

thorsten said...

Lisa, what a beautiful image, all these buses heating up!

I'm a big schoolbus fan myself!

Lisa-Maladylis said...

yeah he's well, wonderful. They laughed when he started there, he went to school many years ago working on nero science I believe. They asked him why he wanted to drive buses and he said his brother (a truck driver) thought he might enjoy it. He loves it and sings to the elementary kids (poor things lol) The parents stop us in stores to thank him and kids stop and smile where ever we go. :-) Neat buses Thorsten !!

ChrisL said...

Is that your bus collection TW? Nice. I'd prefer Mint In Box though.

thorsten said...

Chris, they planned to drown all these poor buses to form a reef in front of Coney Island, I had to save them!
;))

Lisa-Maladylis said...

gosh thorsten, that seems like it would do more harm than good with all the oils and gases still in them. Really were they going to use them in the reef ? Or are you pulling my leg ? (they are a bit long from being pulled a lot) Maybe that's why I'm so tall lol

thorsten said...

Uh, actually I was pulling Chris' leg, sorry Lisa.
He is used to that by now, haha.

But good to hear about your legs!

Lisa-Maladylis said...

No worries mate. :-) maybe that's why I'm 6'1" lol too much leg pulling. But I kinda figured you were as well.

ChrisL said...

So I wasted my time googling "Coney Island school bus reef German intervention"? ;-)

Lisa-Maladylis said...

you and me both Chris ;-)

Re the new article on the front page regarding print numbers. So there are 30 "Artist Proof" prints over and above the 300. That would explain the Locke's Secret on ebay then. I am VERY surprised we haven't seen more of these unnumbered/unsigned proofs appearing on Ebay.

ChrisL said...

Thanks KDP84/Futureself/Thorsten for that very interesting news.

@Rorschach...

I was only kidding about rushing to gallery88 during my stop over. That's my duty free time! ;)

@Lisa, ChrisL, Anne, Thorsten and Amy Lynn...

For reasons unknown, who are your favourite characters off the show?

There are always AP's. Some people will try to tell you they are worth more, but generally they should sell for no more or less.

One thing Tim Doyle didn't mention was that there is there are often Monoprints which are essentially test prints.

These are a mess and often contain several of the artists work in one Print.

However, they are unique and can sometimes look fantastic. As a result, they can often cost a lot more than the print itself.

To show you an example, here is an old one by Jay Ryan.

ioioos, thanks for that. Very interesting.

While I would have anticipated that there would have been proofs I would have expected that this particular series would have been so tightly controlled that they wouldn't have been allowed into the public domain. Clearly though, by the sound of it the additional 30 were not really proofs but additional prints for promotional purposes. Understandable but I don't know that I'm particularly comfortable with it. That's just my feeling.

Martyn, AliceL drives me to distraction with that very question almost daily (along with the question, "Has Martyn got his Walt's Kidnapping yet", thank the lord that one is over)!

It's a tricky one to answer as it changes with each episode and each re-watch but I think overall, for me it has to be a close call between Sawyer and Hurley, both for the humour. And Juliet for reasons I won't go into here. AliceL currently votes for Faraday, presumably as she intends to be a physicist!

For those like me who don't know. ;) NEW POST

Chrcowan said...

Weird question I know, but I'm on DD mailing list and I didn't get this email. announce@tinymediaempire.com right? I've been getting his newsletters for a while. Just curious if anyone else had this problem...don't want to miss out on Jacob's cabin (for you Jeremy!)

@ChrisL

The artist proof versions should be initialed "AP" and are often numbered or signed as well. If the APs are numbered, they should not be numbered the same as the main run.

In other words, an AP of The Numbers is likely to be numbered as "2/30 AP", not "302/330". This isn't an "official rule" but tends to be common place.

In valuation terms on the standard posters, generally the lower the number is considered more collectible, but it should't make any difference in price (unless you have number 1!)

But at the end of the day, I recommend the golden rule...don't worry about how many there are, or whether its a good/bad investment....buy it because it stirs you.

Ref DD mail. Me too. I'm on the mailing list, but not getting any emails......hmmm.

ChrisL said...

Again, very informative ioioos thanks. How long have you been collecting this stuff?

Oh and in case you hadn't realised, we're now over at the NEW POST.

Chrcowan, I'd ask your question again over there if you haven't already. I did my my mail out at 06.41 GMT today.
