Meet Benjamin Linus 440

Just when I thought we have a casual Friday, The Kharma Initiative reported that Todd Slater will drop his Ben print tonight at 2 PM CST (This is Greenwich Mean Time minus 6 hours. Which translates to 8pm GMT). Here is what Todd had to say…
My official ABC Lost print will go on sale on my site at 2 PM CST this Friday. The print was part of a series commissioned by ABC and Gallery 1988 and 200 copies were originally sold on this site. The series was huge success and many of the prints sold out in seconds. I hadn't planned on putting this on sale just yet but I have literally received over 100 emails asking me to do it this week so I am. I only have 50 to sell but the majority of those will go to my subscribers. The price is $175 and this is one where you have to be there on time.

Update: As you all know by now, in a really cool move Mitch from OMGPosters.com visited the comments this morning and told us that Rob Jones sold The Swan via his email address. This is without example, and pretty awesome. Thanks Mitch.

Benry is a beautiful print. Good luck to everyone going for it!

Kharma - I love Tiki Stitch but trying to resist it's charm ;)

ChrisL said...

Yes indeed Lisa - Happy Birthday once again. How are you?

andalone said...

Happy Birthday Lisa! Hope you have a wonderful day. Please treat yourself and allow every self-indulgence.

@Amy Lynn your generosity is much appreciated, but NOT necessary. Thank you very much.

"Ben" is an awesome print. Thanks to my poster hero for allowing Ben to come home to my loving arms. (I did hug the poster tube.) Good luck to those attempting to purchase the poster today.

I am waiting for Mr. Danger to release his copies of "and that's why my hand was shaking..." aka Jacob's Cabin. It will put me at full set status if I am lucky (and fast) enough to get one. Then it will be a matter of getting all these beauties framed.

ChrisL said...

Wow andalone, only one to make the set... that's awesome.

andalone said...

@ChrisL I had help. There are really some awesome LOST fans and ARGers out there. :)

As another token of apology for yesterday, please go read my site, OMGPosters.com, right now (particularly the Rob Jones part). Cheers guys.

Figured you guys deserved the first heads up.

I emailed R.

Waiting with baited breath. Isn't it an unearthly hour with him?

ChrisL said...

ioioos. Probably West Coast, 4.30 am? East coast is 7.30 am so it's early for many of our friends. I hope Rob knows what he's let himself in for and that his email server can handle it.

I'm guessing he'll respond to the first 40 emails with a price and payment details then move on down the line for dropouts.

I'm also guessing it's too late now to email with any chance of success. This is a cool way to drop though.

ChrisL said...

Mitch, I'm assuming you are not at liberty to divulge Rob's intent on the administration of this? Not price so much but will it be first come, or a random draw?

Anonymous said...

The great thing about this (as long as its first come first served) is that they will end up with more fans than traders.

Amy Lynn said...

Yay Friday! Good luck to everyone trying to get prints today.

ObFuSc8 said...

Wow -- still pretty early here. COLD and icy, single digits with windchill. Driving to work will be like an obstacle course.

Thanks Mitch. Hope Rob Jones is ready for the onslaught of emails.

ChrisL said...

ioioos, thanks to Mitch hopefully that's true. EB has this information too but I hope it's those there that would really like the print that will have emailed.

I think it's safe to say that Mitch has more than made up for any issues yesterday despite actually not needing to imho.

I hope some UK'ers have emailed even though they may not want it though as I feel bad for our West Coast contingent.

DvdBos said...

Talked with Rob yesterday, i think he's swearing and cursing all the gods now. :D

For anyone that doesn't check it regularly, omgposters.com is a truly awesome site. It's become one of my first ports of call each morning.

admittedly I am a tad behind on the reviews, but I am plugging along as best I can.

I hope to get some new pics of the Stout up today as the mailman finally brought it yesterday, so I will be replacing the shots of the litho with the print hopefully tonight.

Milo, please add your reviews.

thanks everyone for the Birthday well wishes ! I was surprised to see them here since I didn't think anyone knew. Course, I might have said something so who knows. lol Too many facebook, tweets and blogging here to remember which one I posted it at. I'm off with my sis for some fabric shopping (I know, doesn't sound all that exciting but to a professional seamstress it is.) so will be out most of the day, well, at least till noon. then back to see the craziness here lol I have to watch anyway even if I don't want the poster. hugs all

Rob just quoted me $200 for the print, plus $35 intl shipping and an optional $5 insurance. I have bowed out, but this is basically for info if any other non-USers are interested.

To add to the g1988 experiences collection - Kirk Demarais blog entry about his attendance of the show

ImAnnie, I got the Hatch and RT reviews done this week, partway through my Rob Jones Swan review. Each time I try and write a review, the art becomes more intimidating to share my opinion about!

I hope to soon replace the twitter feed section with more frames of the fanart screen prints too.

Thanks Mitch & Rob

I finally bagged The Swan. To me this image defines Lost. Plus it will look great on my dark green wall!

ChrisL said...

Congrats ioioos

kiwilostie said...

Damn! The 1 print we get a primo heads up on, and Ive got it already! It really is a shit hot print. Kudos to Rob and Mitch.

Scott said...

Congrats to all who got the Swan Station! I considered it after being one of the unlucky oversold ones for Locke's Secret but it's not worth that much for me. Picked up Dan Mccarthy's latest to stave off the cravings.

Attorney Greg said...

While you'd probably all rather put the money in the artist's pocket - if anyone misses out on Ben (as it seems the supply is even more limited on this one based on the subscribers comment) there seems to be multiple copies available on EB for trade/sale at a comparible price. There are at least 3 listed under $200. Just an FYI for those looking for Ben. Good luck and congrats to those that scored Rob's.

Sam G said...

Some really cool fallout, all the other art and artist people are being attracted to and learning about. Every time I get directed to another site I fall in love with prints I probably wouldn't have seen. I keep bookmarking all these pages in my Art Folder.

The Blot said...

Looks like we already crashed Slater's website. Anyone else having problems with it loading???

ChrisL said...

It appears as though the Swan price has been rising as the emails from Rob have progressed in keeping with the discussion about escalating pricing yesterday. Early emails at $185, then $200 and then $225. According to EB posts that is.

Amy Lynn said...

No problems with Slater's site for me.

ChrisL said...

The Blot, no problems here.

Martyn said...

Man, you all are a chatty lot, been trying to catch up all day!

Picked up my Polar Bear print, took the shipping slip as a prize, and then posted it off to a kind sir in CA because he sent me The Swan Station and The Love Triangle. So i'm a little annoyed the first legit chance of getting the resell posters, I don't actually need it.

Took The Hatch off my wall to get properly framed, looked crap in it's Ikea frame next to my properly framed Jacob's Cabin and Swan Station. Which means Dharma Van will be next to get framed in Feb, Jabberwock in March and anything else I get after that.

Happy Birthday Lisa, hope you have as good a day as i'm having right now. In fact better than that.

KI, thanks for the Tikka Stitch link, Stitch was the first viral campaign I got sucked in by so I love him, so very tempting to buy it.

ChrisL, glad you got The Swan Station but thought you already had it. Rob Jones I love as an artist, mainly seen his White Stripes/Raconteurs posters. Spoke to him last year about one of his MAgician prints from the white stripes gig I went to years ago, a very kind and informative guy and the only artist who gave nothing away about his LOST poster.

Anyway, LOST rewatch done for this week, whatever happened, happened and dead is dead. It's interesting watching Locke, knowing he's Flocke. It's kind of obvious now. So now i'm off to continue my Spaced rewatch.

Congrats to Chilian on the compo win. And Sam, my poster addiction has already taken full control, get out while you can!!!

JFuller said...

@ChrisL - I can confirm I just got an email asking $250 and that he would throw in some Oscar Wilde mini prints

ChrisL said...

Martyn, You're pretty chatty yourself! I do have the Swan and I absolutely love it. I thought I better grab one for our US friends who would have been sleeping.

Martyn said...

And kids, never put McFlurry's in the freezer to keep it cold until you've eaten the rest of your cheeseburger. It just ruins it completely!

ChrisL said...

So from 185 - 250 Yikes. Still not sold out though, that's interesting.

Martyn said...

Ah yes, Chris, had to catch up, didn't I? ;)

And very nice of you to do that for west coast Losties. Forgot. Waiting on a reply about the dark knight print i'm trying to buy but obviously hasn't woken up yet.

JGZ350 said...

$250 for the Swan? It's a nice print, but going from $185 to $250 is tough to do. I emailed Rob @ 8:30am central and no reply yet. So, maybe he is sold out.

ChrisL said...

Martyn, it would be good if someone wants it though!

Eugene said...

Well done, Chilian!

I just hung my Swan print up yesterday. It looks so nice framed.

Congratulations to all who managed to get it this morning. I hope Mitch knows how appreciated it is.

Finally, Happy Birthday, Lisa!

Martyn said...

Swan station is amazing, really glad I lusted after it for so long. Got it framed just before xmas, a nice simple black wood frame and a black mount with a white e-something. Can't remember it's name, enamol, or endeavor or something like that. Anyway, it looks amazing.

JFuller said...

@JGZ350 - I emailed Rob at 8am EST and received the email back from him at 10:20am EST. Needless to say I didnt buy it. Its a great piece but not for that price.

Amy Lynn said...

$225? Yikes. The Swan is really the one print (well, also, maybe Polar Bear) where I have NO idea what the artist was thinking when he chose that way to represent the show. But, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Tess315 said...

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday to Lisa firts. Happy Birthday Lisa!
Now to catch up on the posts.

Capcom said...

Blech, typos.

Happy Birthday Lisa! *<|:o)

That Stitch would look SO good in my retro tiki collection.

Tx Mitch, and congrats to Chilian.

Good posts this week.

ChrisL said...

Amy, quite apart from how it sits as a representation of the show, honestly, in person framed and hung, it's as striking a piece as there could be. I do happen to love his work though which helps.

DvdBos said...

Swan station: These are now gone, no more emails please! Maybe a few at Flatstock SXSW.

By Mitch.

Stop emailing Rob Jones :D

Capcom said...

I like the polar bear, it reminds me of that moment in the grass when it appeared, etc.

Anonymous said...

@capcom

I think Polar Bear is the most under rated. It looks fantastic in the flesh. Really detailed. Its also very sutble.

It doesn't scream "lost watercooler" like some, and I think thats why it is less popular than some. But I think thats the very reason I like it.

Amy Lynn said...

The Polar Bear is the only one, really, that's the DEFINITION of WCM (other than maybe the Hatch and Crash). However, I have no idea why he's drinking Dharma beer, or why he looks happy.

CL said...

If anyone still would like Rob Jones's Swan print, please e-mail me at cLee4654 at gmail dot com with serious offers. Please check my EB profile for more details.

capostar said...

I wish the rousseau poster were of the actual colors in the stock photo up there in the lostargs page.

I was shocked at how misrepresented was the true color of this poster.

...And I really can imagine the Swan looking much better framed on a wall. Otherwise I have the "what the..." expression lots of ppl had.

Anonymous said...

@amy

Wouldn't you be happy if you drunk a load of dharma beer? :)

Acutally, he's growling, with teeth out!

Eugene said...

Maybe the Polar bear looks happy because of the beer. It has that effect on me.

DvdBos said...

ENORMOUS OT QUESTION:

January 15th, in Italy we will FINALLY be able to watch AVATAR 3D.
How is it? :)

Drama said...

Avatar is basically the most expensive version of Pocahontas EVER. The script and story are acceptable - no worse or better than that. But the the 3D, the tech and the special effects are second to none. Worth watching.

JFuller said...

@Dragon management - A bunch of people passed on Rob's print because it was too much money @ $225-$250 and you're selling it for $400 on EB. I think you're doing it wrong ;)

maven said...

Morning all! Happy Birthday to Lisa....fabric shopping...my idea of heaven, too! :)

Congrats to winner Chilian!

Thanks again to Mitch for being so thoughtful to LostArgs! Hope everyone finds what they're looking for today...in life and in posters!!

FYI: The LA Times has a small story in the Calender section about the NoStateoftheUnionFeb2 drive on Facebook. They used a pic of Evi for the piece.

DvdBos said...

I think that either Slater's Ben Linus won't be a good business for the ebayists: it has not the market that DD's print has. :)

@Ben: thanks for avatar, i've altready booked a place for the premiere. :p

I've been addicted to art for a long time. Maybe, it's because I'm at a place where I can afford some of these silk-screen prints. Anyway, looking at unLOST prints to collect also.

That's great, good luck Eugene!

Sandman90 said...

Good luck to the buyers of Benry! Off to work...

Drama said...

it doesn't seem like many are bothered about the Ben print. I'm guessing this is because of limited numbers available, and it's striking nature? I mean, I love it, but my girlfriend hates it - she says it's terrifying andd has no idea why anyone would want it on a wall... muppet.

Eugene said...

Thanks, Thorsten. I'm greatly encouraged as I know people who have been looking for months with no success. I only just started right before the holidays.

Eugene said...

@Ben, My whole family finds it frightening. No idea where I'll ever hang it.

Anonymous said...

@ Ben & Eugene

Maybe by the end of season 6 Ben will be proved as "the good guy" and the poster will take on a whole new meaning.

It will be more stately than scary then.

Drama said...

doubtful...look at his EYES! I really like it - it's a great likeness, and the character is captured brilliantly in the rough dark strokes. It's ace.

lol Put your McFlurry in the microwave. It's not perfect but better than frozen.
BTW I've been wanting to say this all week. Zort I thought you were on vacation! You just can't stay away can you ;).

Amy Lynn said...

I am not quite sure where I'm going to hang my Ben. I'm only allowed to have three LOST prints up at a time, and I have five, so it's gonna be a rotation system, LOL

futureself said...

Ben - I love my Benry!
It is initially a chilling print
And his eyes really do follow you around the room :) But he changes.
And not just from the light making the silver paint sparkle.
At times he looks very much like a lost boy and there is a sadness to the print.
Othertimes it's humorous and just makes me smile :D

Drama said...

hey, like I say, I LOVE it. In fact, I'm going to be captain controversy and say my least favourite of the run is the Stout print. I just don't like the pic.

Amy Lynn said...

Ben, I don't think that's so controversial. Stout's print is weak, to me, too.

thorsten said...

I love the Ben, and the fact that my print is parked with Amy!

Eugene said...

It makes me feel almost exactly the same way I did when Benry first fell out of the net. More than any of the other prints, for me, it captures all facets of the subject.

Benry is one of my 4 missing posters, so I'm definitely going to try for it (even knowing that the odds are not good).

I'm kind of bummed out that the west coasters didn't really have a shot at the Swan sell. I have not been doing to well on all the re-releases, with the exception of Tim Doyle's beautiful "Numbers" print.

At least I have the consolation of another day of sun and 72 degree weather... :-)

Nice, Pat, I am snowed in up to my chubby chin ;))

Never try to catch up on comments too quickly . . . now I am picturing Ben having a McFlurry.

I bet he could do it in a frightening way, too. Had to pause/rewind my rewatch yesterday when I had the thought that only Michael Emerson in that role could have made the act of opening a folding chair seem threatening.

Thought I would try for Ben, just realized it's at the EXACT time of my cardiologist appt. Should I claim I'm "snowed in"? (Driveway isn't plowed, actually.)

Thanks, sorry for OT and GOOD LUCK to the ones who will try to buy the BEAUTIFUL BEN!

Annie, you're kidding on the $600 for Stout, right?

ChrisL said...

and erm, why are you selling them? I thought you wanted to buy more? Just curious.

ChrisL said...

Didn't Martyn mention wanting a Walt's Kidnapping? Maybe not, I can't quite remember...

Martyn said...

I'm free for poster buddy status as I don't want it but i'm guessing there's no-one.

ImAnnie, i'm guessing you set those prices because you don't actually want to sell them, otherwise you're not going to get many offers mate.

@Capcom, LOL!

and MORE FROGURT.

Also via twitter - Olly Moss has landed. Sounds like an awful trip. IPOD troubles, Mac troubles, 32 hours of flying. He seems like such a great guy and, so far, ran the best BUY NOW of these last 5 months. The sold out picture of Locke made me laugh through the disappointed tears.

Martyn said...

LMAO @ChrisL

throwfar said...

LOL...you can get a stout , statue, and walt fo almost $100 less on ebay right now...$200 less for the stout on ebay!

Patmc said...

@Martyn - I'm going to be trying for the Ben poster... but (and I'll open this to anyone else too) I'll take any and all help to help Ben find his way to my wall in my office! (my wife made me promise to put him the office, as according to her, "He kind of freaks me out")

Off to the Slater site to F5...! It's just like old times, huh? :-)

throwfar said...

So any buzz on slater....He's opening up in t-minus 11 minutes
:0) it will take me 9min to decide if i want to pull the trigger after getting a Doyle and Van the past 3 days!

DvdBos said...

It just because i want to buy more that i'm trying to sell some of them. :)
The trade is not working, so i need money to buy the ones i want!

Really 2 of them are not mine (4toed and Love Triangle) but are from a friend..

I tried to stay about at the Average Price of EB for them, except Stout's one (yes, 600 is insane, you are right, that's because i don't want to sell it :D)

throwfar said...

Statue is going for $100 in ebay as well as triangle. Walt will probably close on ebay around $185 as well!

Unknown said...

Whoa why is it no longer there?

ChrisL said...

It's gone, what happened?

Amy Lynn said...

System Failure.

Patmc said...

Uh oh... the listing just disappeared off Slater's page. Hope that doesn't mean that they popped up and disappeared before I could click...

Unknown said...

Maybe he took it off while changing the coding.

Martyn said...

I hope not Throwfar, $177 is far enough. Patmc, i'll try I guess.

Unknown said...

He's decided that we're Not Good People so sale canceled :P

ChrisL said...

Maybe adding the buy button.

Martyn said...

Or not apparently. Serves me right for watching Fringe at the same time.

Unknown said...

Report is Chicago roads are fine so I don't have to leave for appt - lucky me to be here to watch Slater's site get sloooower and slooooooower XD

DvdBos said...

Sold out.

:D

Joking.

Still not there, and server tired.

ChrisL said...

Martyn, Fringe demands 100% attention. Poster buying requires 100% attention. How do you do it???

Patmc said...

The site is crawling... must be getting hammered! LOL!

For anyone concerned about the Ben Linus print missing, please don't be.

It will be back up on time at 2PM CST, according to Todd Linus.
