A complete turnaround 118

Following on from Paul's post last night he has updated his blog to say all is now sweet in the land of Damon, Carlton and Ronie Midfew.

He has met with Ronie and they have formed a partnership for something other than the velvet painting idea that was the main thrust of DamonCarltonandaPolarBear.com

Following the meeting with Ronie they also managed to meet with Damon and Carlton to get their blessing for this new partnership.

Paul also says that because of the partnership he may not be updating the website for some time. However he also says that the gallery we still be published at midnight tonight (PST).

What this gallery will contain is not clear if Paul is not going to be using his velvet skills anymore. Also the post says "Let the hunt begin" so what will we be hunting ?

This update confirms Paul's information and answers the question we have all been asking, his name is pronounced Ro-Knee.

Theory time

This complete switch around is a bit of a mystery and doesn't seem to fit in with what we have been led to believe over the last few weeks. I think there are four possibilities here -

1. Paul has been brainwashed and is being manipulated by Ronie Midfew for some, as yet unknown, nefarious purpose.

2. Paul has been kidnapped and his blog has been taken over by Ronie, the picture of Paul with Damon and Carlton could be photoshopped, or edited in some way to make it look real.

3. A slightly whacky idea, but we (and it has to be we not just Paul, unless he has a trans dimensional blog) are shifting realities where in one reality Ronie, Damon and Carlton are nice, benevolent and on Paul's side, and in the other reality they are plotting against Paul - this would be the one where Mr Clucks exists and the original painting was thrown out as we saw.

4. The fourth option is the simplest one where everything is as it seems, but I'm not inclinded to believe that at the moment.

Paul is threatened to a meeting with Ronie 68

Paul has had a visit from a man in black, who has a conversation with him about the paintings. The conversation sounds very familiar to anyone who saw the last episode of season 5.

“It’s always the same with you Lost fans, you watch, you theorize, you blog, you paint, but it always ends the same, you want more.”

(There was a long pause.)

Then he affixed a steely gaze on me “Do you have any idea how badly I want to kill you?”

“What?! No. I didn’t think it was that bad…Really? Kill me?” I was shocked.

“Yes but I can’t find a loophole. Your friends, your blogger buddies, and the all the rest of the fans are supporting this dumb velvet painting idea. It’s impossible to stop you. So I come to you with an offer. I’d like you meet Ronie Midfew. He wants to talk to you. No recording devices of any kind. He wants you to know exactly what he thinks of you.”

The man in black dropped the business card on the ground and walked off. As he walked away, he exclaimed, “Always nice speaking to you Mr. Scheer.”



Paul then asks us for questions we can ask Ronie at the meeting.

Update 14 Aug 14:00(EST) - New post by Paul

The coordinates are plugged into my GPS and I have all your comments printed
out. So I’m ready and on my way.

I hope they don’t hook me up to that weird Clockwork Orange machine that they
hooked Ben’s Daughter’s Boyfriend up to.

I will post later tonight (cuz I have to pick up some dry cleaning on the way home) and let you know what went down. But if you don’t hear from me by Saturday morning assume that I was taken on a submarine to an unknown location.

Update 14 August 20:20(EST)

In a new post by Paul he says that his meeting with Ronie Midfew went well and the publishing of the art will still go ahead as planned.

Paul says contracts are going to be signed and that everything is going to be great, even better than could be expected.

Paul has received a call from Ronie Midfew, and responds with some Lost quotes



There is a mention of a Facebook page and the wrong Alexandra Miller.

He also misquotes the Ronie Midfew website - "The 15th is LOST and the 16th will be FOUND" and asks us for suggestions as to what this might mean.

Paul is insistent that on Saturday we will be able to see "dozens" of paintings and some might even be glow in the dark !

Also updated is the RonieMidfewArts.com site. When the mouse cursor moves over the main page a new note to say that they will block the sale of the painting by Paul is displayed.

As we continue to try and reach Mr. Sheer this weekend, we hope these visitors understand that our problem is not with them, but with Mr. Sheer's ignorant belief that he can create his website, or any artworks in a LOST-inspired theme, without our authorization. As we near his announced date of August 15th, the time he claims new original back velvet works will be for sale, we can promise you this: This will not happen. Update - 10:00 GMT, all of the posts about the video after the Beard Poll have disappeared. Lots of problems for Paul

The Third ARG ? 54

First we had the Lost University, then we had Mysteries of the Universe, now it seems that there is a third strand to the campaign to promote Lost into the stratosphere.

The jury is still out on the ARG'ness of all of this and we are not 100% sure if this third strand is an official ABC generated thing or not, however the organisation of it seems to be quite complex for something fan generated.

So to the plot, from what I can piece together from comments / other websites and reports from Comic Con, as this appears to be where this started.

"The first guy was really weird and gave Darlton a black velvet "painting" of them with a polar bear!"

From other reports this just seemed like a fan being a fan and doing something fun, however this has now seemingly turned into something more interesting.

The person at Comic-Con was comedian Paul Scheer, and he told everyone to go to the site DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.com it is a blog style site that has been posted to since July 20th. It has lots of Lost related posts, some about the creation of the painting leading up to and following Comic Con.

On the 3rd of August several people in the media seem to have received a packet in the post with a print of the painting and a letter from Paul :



The posts on the DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.com site have recently been talking about Paul receiving threatening phone calls from a company called 'Ronie Midfew Arts' who say that their intellectual property is being breached. On the SlashFilm.Com website, this post, is from someone that knows Paul and has been sent the picture and letter from Paul and a letter from Ronie Midfew Arts :



This then leads us on to a web site for Ronie Midfew Arts which has a static picture telling us that 15 Will be lost The 16th Will be Found.



Is it a coincidence that Ronie Midfew Arts is an anagram of Widmore Fine Arts and that a widmorefinearts.com website has appeared ?
