Bad Robot Art Show at Gallery 1988 2

Gallery 1988 - the gallery that brought you the Fringe Benefits Project - had a new show on Friday to celebrate Bad Robot.

The "art experience" featured works inspired by J.J. Abrams' creations, including FRINGE, Star Trek, Cloverfield, Super 8, Revolution, Alias, Felicity, and of course LOST.

There was a lot of great LOST art work, many of which is still available for sale at Gallery1988.com

Was it only 12 months ago ? 24

Yes twelve short months ago we spent hours in front of our pc's or travelling to LA to find out what the 16th poster in the Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear series was and to see all the splendid and fascinating LOST art that was on display in Gallery 1988.

The video below, filmed live by Reverend Milo, is one of my favourites from the day for two reasons - firstly it has Damon and Carlton in it ! Secondly, and more importantly, it shows a lot of our regular losties on the streets of LA all together in one place.

This video, and many others filmed during the day, was the first example I've seen of a live broadcast by individuals, not a huge TV company, and for me to be able to watch the event on the streets of LA from my home in the middle of England was truly remarkable. It gave me and others around the world a big sense of inclusion in the event.

The video also shows the "I once was lost..." poster created by Thorsten, transmitted electronically half way round the world, printed off locally and presented to Damon and Carlton. All arranged by the people that contributed to this web site, and then the poster was subsequently displayed in the LOST writers room during the production of the final series.

Words don't begin to describe how much fun and excitement was had by so many people during the DCaaPB campaign, as well as leading up to and during the final season of LOST, but a big thanks go out to everyone that contributed in a positive way to this site and made it THE place to be for LOST fans for so long.

We have all moved on to other things in life since LOST ended, but a lot of us still have not moved on, and will not move on, from LOST as a shining light in the TV wasteland. Some are hoping for another chapter in the story, some are hoping to rediscover how LOST captured so many hearts and minds, and some are just hoping that one day they might understand.

Just one final thing - quite a few of us will be at Comic Con this year (if the ticketing system is sorted out !) so if you are going let us know in the comments and we can try and meet up at some point in the weekend to swap poster purchasing stories.

Kevin Tong Giving Some Kharma 8

The fantastic news that the Wayman family benefit had managed to raise it's full target was a great start to the week.

Now though we have even more news that is sure to send a tingle down the spine of the followers of the Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear campagin.

Kevin Tong has announced a game / competition / giveaway / sales drive / we aren't really sure what it is, but the potential prizes look great.

If you purchase some of the LOST Live posters that were created for the second wave of Damon Carlton action this year to advertise the LOST Live event, or the Silver variant that is now available, you will be entered into a draw for the prizes.

There are four prizes and the more people that purchase from Kevin's web site - tragicsunshine.com the more prizes are unlocked :-

- No matter how many orders are received the prize will be the initial sketch Kevin presented for approval his original DCaaPB poster The Hatch, this will be further personalised and signed for the winner.

- For 5 orders or more received two copies of long ago sold out "The Hatch" print (two winners)

- For 10 orders or more two custom drawings on two Alamo Drafthouse prints of winner selected favorite LOST scenes.

- If 25 orders or more are received, the entire set of the original drawings (3) for “The Hatch”. These are the pencil and inked drawings. (pictured)

Everyone who purchases by Noon PST on 11/30/2010 will be eligible for all the prizes that have been "Unlocked"

Kevin has also said that he will donate 100% of the cost of the order value from the winners plus some of his own money to the Kharma Initiatives benefit.

Read about the benefit in the previous posts, or Click Here to donate directly if you do not want to purchase any posters.

Daddy Issues T-Shirt Available at DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.Com

Just when we thought it was all over and there would be no more updates from DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.Com, JPL has let us know that the LOST Auction Exclusive t-shirt is now available on the site.

Also don't forget that posters are for sale on the site at a discount, and if LOST Magazine is to be believed, the discount code of LOSTMAG should get you free shipping, although we haven't heard of anyone using that code successfully yet. (Thanks to KingBudven for the original heads up on this.

Exploring The Candidate Cave 85

A lot of people have already been receiving this poster by Guy Burwell and amazingly the poster has not yet sold out and can still be purchased at DamonCarltonandaPolarBear.com

Meanwhile if you are still making your mind up here are some close up views courtesy of RamHatter and JPL who have their posters.

I am reliably informed that the gold ink used to print the posters is very striking and that the detail is superbly crisp and clear.

Personally I'm still not sold on the mechanical / harpoon hand that Locke is holding out with the black and white stone. However the detail is certainly superb having had a look at the close up shots.

One of the numbers circles from the cave and after Jacob's campfire chat it isn't surprising that one of the other circles contains number 51

Finally a signature, number 337 out of 550, and to clear up some confusion the DCaaPB website says this is an edition of 500 however the small print at the bottom of the purchase page says there are 550, with only 500 for sale to the general public.

Tara McPherson Poster Creation Blog Post 370

Tara McPherson has created a blog post on her own website that explains a bit more about the inspiration for the poster and the creation process, as well as stating that part of the poster is printed using metalic inks which isn't clear on the DCaaPB site.

There is also this statement which reflects some of the discussions yesterday about orientation of the poster -

".....The print can also be hung any orientation which I wanted to do to add to the weightlessness of the characters. Though I did have to pick one side to sign and number them :)"

DamonCarltonandaPolarBear Confusion, Mayhem and Chaos- Just what we Love :-) 90

As happened last night DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.com was used to promote a password for the Official LOST variety show at the UCB theatre in New York and Los Angeles.

The site changed several times with the password appearing and nothing else and then the posters and back again to just the password, and in the middle of that the Daniel Danger print went on sale again for a brief moment and we have reports of people managing to purchase a copy. The image below, sent in by Limbofunk and Patmc shows the Daniel Danger print as Coming Soon not with it's normal Sold Out banner.

Things have settled down now and we have the posters and the password and show information on the same site for the moment.

No word on when the next poster wil be available yet, but stay tuned it could be a long evening / night / morning.

Comments Catchup 515

Last night Weinbeeezy mentioned this update from Jeff Boyes that there may be a few hidden extras in the Desmond print.

See the original comment at visualtechnicians.com/ and you can still purchase the print at DamonCarlton andaPolarBear.com

Then we have this small update from Daniel Danger via his facebook page that Ray told us about, and it does hint that, as before, the artists may have a few extra copies for sale at a later date.

Daniel Danger's website is http://tinymediaempire.com and if you go and have a look at that site you will see a slightly different update -
