Mathematical Forecasting Initiative 118

Last week someone sent me a link to this site and until today I didn't have time to go and have a look.

The Mathematical Forecasting Initiative is supposedly and offshoot of the DHARMA Initiative and has some interesting threories about mathematics and numbers in general. There are some entertaining videos with Dr Marvin Candle and lots of mentions of Valenzetti and the numbers.

While I'm reasonably sure that this not an official ABC or LOST produced website, as it is Italian in origin and has the initials of a defunct furniture sales chain in the UK, it is rather interesting for those that have followed LOST ARG's in the past.

Mysteries Of The Universe Parts 5 and 6 124

The DVD's for Lost's 5th Season have been released in some countries which means that Mysteries Of The Universe series part 5 and 6 are available. Click here to go to view part 5 and 6 on YouTube.

Part 5

A secret organisation is only as big as it's biggest secret, the segment talks about the Island of Tonga getting a Dharma food pallet, it contains lots of Swan station items. It also talks about planes going missing in the South Pacific area.

It then mentions Alvar Hanso and his possible connection to the food drops.

The segment also talks about volunteers, at Ann Arbor University, and how they were recruited.

Part 6

This part is slightly different in that it is a Mysteries Of The Universe Update.

The MOTU investigative team find that Olivia Goodspeed has reappeared, they try and phone here but get no real information other than another link to the South Pacific.

Marshal Arts experts have come forward in connection with the Dharma logo to explain about it being a fighting style.

The segment also talks again about the church where the Lamppost station is housed. It mentions that staff members have dissapeard from the church, and that the general manager is Eloise Hawking who has no birth certificate, but does have a son with a different surname.

Mysteries of The Universe Part 4 66

Almost forgotten during the rush to purchase the latets poster is the fourth segment of the Mysteries Of The Universe series was made available on ABC's website and via Hulu. Click here to go to the ABC Mysteries of the Universe web page.

The fourth episode concerns Alvar Hanso and his links to Gerald DeGroot and University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

The video talks about Alvar being a WWII Munitions profiteer, who gave weapons to resistance forces. After the war supplying high technology armaments to NATO.

Alvar apparently first met DeGroot when Gerald was 8 years old. DeGroot stayed in touch with Alvar and when he needed funding for The Dharma Initiative asked Alvar for help.

Poster 4 - Fastest Finger First 93

A few days ago TomRex told us that he was the first to buy the fourth poster, and in the mail he had received a letter from Alexandra Miller and a Dharma Jumpsuit.

Tom has been kind enough to post some pictures :

The letter tells Tom that he was the fastest purchaser for the second time, and mentions the jumpsuit.

The letter also says - "Wear it in good health. Or even wear it on your first day of school. That's when all the cool undergrads wear their new digs."

This is an odd turn of phrase as you would not wear digs, you would live in them, however it is a clue to the fifth poster location.

  • What would you sacrifice to stay alive?
  • What makes you cry?
  • You just stole a sick child's toy. Why?

  • A tortoise is on its back in the sun. You're not helping. Why?
  • What does terror sound like?

Secret Candle is the RuckusGuy / Pierre Chang video shown during the Lost panel.

Here are a couple of the "static" audio clips. I can't make anything out, but maybe you can...

Thanks to Zort here's the name Pierre Chang calls when the baby is crying. What do you hear; Stanislar, Stanislav, Dammit Laura, or maybe something else?

Dharma Initiative Recruiting Project Tests 50

The first accounts of the "tests" at the Dharma booth at Comic-Con are rolling in. Lucky recruits are required to enter a booth where they are asked to choose a test, and then answer some questions aloud.

Ryan and Jen from The Transmission, have an interview with an early test taker, and also have taken it themselves. Jen took the Ganymede test and Ryan took Amalthea.

The questions for the latter were:
1. What was your first live concert?
2. What is the sound of terror?
3. What was the first album you bought?
4. Who is your constant?
5. What is the sound of red?
6. When were you last truly happy?

Word association photos:
1. A tree-lined road at night.
2. Skeletons.
3. A child in a sprinkler.
4. Little Red Riding Hood in bed with the wolf.

1. State your name while holding up a number (they give you the number when you take the test).
2. Repeat the word Continuum three times, louder each time.
3. How are you feeling right now?
4. What animal do you relate to the most?
5. What 3 words best describe you?
6. What's your first memory?
7. Who is your constant?
8. Something like, if anything can happen does that mean that nothing can happen too?
9. Do polar bears make good pets?

Word association photos:

Lost ARGs spacerThe names of the tests, in order are: Io, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, Amalthea, Himalia, Elara, and Leda, based on screen shots from Comic-Con Live. They are all moons of Jupiter, and also tied to Greek mythology.
