Smokey Thursday 354

After Tim Doyle sold his prints via his mailing list he dropped by in the comments…
'Holy geez! I've sent out all 40 payment emails- those people have until midnight CST to pay, and then I'll move to the next people down the line. Already 27 have been paid for. Thank you all!'

Ken Taylor confirmed via email last night that Smokey will come up on Thursday.

Update: Smokey will be on sale Thursday, January 7th at approximately 2pm CST… which is GMT - 6:00. As reported by The Kharma Initiative it will be available at Postersandtoys.com.

Await further instructions…

So the Dharma Van and The Barracks went on sale today as planned, but as a surprise Jason Munn sold The Statue, too. First pointed out in the comments by ImAnnie/Davide/Italy.

Olly Moss will release Locke's Secret via Twitter tomorrow:
40 spare Locke's Secret posters will go on sale tomorrow at a random time. $200 in the UK, $215 int. shipping. Will post here when available. Paypal, my site, shipping them myself.

thorsten,
the exchange is continuing . . I was late to the game so just clarifying the still open to purchase, receipt of email, etc. etc. etc. we've been there. *fingers crossed* only 35-40 will get. Mr. Munn uses CCNow to collect orders. They have not supplied him as of this moment. I will wait patiently.

I'm going to write some emails too..
Did you send yours to Tyson/Jensen/TG?

Martyn, my business uses Parcelforce big time to ship UK and Worldwide and they are a mighty PITA. Many congrats on finding your Ryan. Great news.

Glad you finally "found" polar bear print.

futureself
Hope you get the 4 toed state.

Those of you who got a Dharma Van will be pleasntly surprised. Very nice print.

futureself said...

Lol ChrisL, brilliant. AmyLynn you should totally do Lost the Musical!

I read today that Benny and Bjorn (Abba dudes) were supposedly lined up to do a Torchwood musical. Like John Barrowman needs another excuse to mince about on the stage ;)

ObFuSc8 said...

Yay for you Martyn! There's hope yet. I still don't have My Stout for LOST yet.

I will probably be refunded on the 4-toed Statue then. I passed, then when it was up for soooo long decided to give it a go. Ah well.

Andrew said...

wait I just went to munn's site, thesmallstakes.com and i ordered a 4-toed statue print.
did i actually just get one or am i going to get a "sorry, this item is sold out" email?

ChrisL said...

futureself, lol @ Torchwood The Musical!

thorsten said...

The term is it is totally drymounting badass!

ObFuSc8 said...

LOL thorsten!

Martyn said...

Ah, yes, ChrisL, I get it now. Royal Mail are worse, espicially when it came to them damaging my property and saying it was my fault for not packaging it properly. ARGH!!!! Anyway, sent you an e-mail!

A Torchwood musical, really? I don't even know how that'd work!

Eugene said...

LOL Thorsten. I have to disappear for a bit. Feel free to delete the tweet exchange if anyone finds it objectionable.

Thanks!

thorsten said...

And, yes Olly, I want that bloody Locke!

Patrick said...

I'm still interested in a Dharma Van if anyone wishes to part with one: yingko9 at gmail dot com.

The artists have been really great in helping us out on these with these second releases, some have bent over backward. Three cheers to all of them! (and praying I can score a Moss tomorrow, with or without blood)

Amy Lynn said...

Thorsten, you should Photoshop T'OQ onto a Dexter poster.

No problem, Eugene. Great job. Say hi to iyemmary.

Patrick said...

Tyler Stout also posted "...no new posters for sale before jan 15th, probably it'll be after that..."

DvdBos said...

My name is into LostArgs home page.
Thanks Thorsten :D
Now, i can die. :D

ChrisL said...

Martyn, seriously, you KNOW Barrowman could turn ANYTHING into a musical!

thorsten said...

Nessun problema, mia cara ;))

futureself said...

Yeah Martyn, rather disturbingly I could see a Torchwood musical working (but only with Barrowman starring in it). No doubt there would be a Weviel number in there somewhere, and of course spades of innuendo :)

Blocke does sound good! Might have to get the red ink out and improve my copy.....

Worried about my Statue....I didn't see the link until about half an hour after it went on sale so chances are I'm above the 40 :(

DvdBos said...

Who-hoo, that's an Italian surprise :D
;)

Martyn said...

I can maybe see /doctor Who, but Torchwood? Maybe just John Barrowman singing and the rest staring at him. But would lower the tone if it were anything like the amazing third series.

Wes said...

so.. exactly what time did the statue go on sale today?

ChrisL said...

Could I just drag us back from the prospect of a prancing Captain Jack to the job at hand for a mo?

I'm concerned about our American friends tomorrow. If Olly is working on UK time he's surely not going to drop this before california wakes is he? that would be 5 or 6pm GMT. If he did it at 8am east and west coast will still be sleeping. Are you guys going to stay awake or what? I'm guessing very few have the print and most everyone wants it so there won't be many able to buy for others.

What's the plan? Every man for himself isn't really our style.

thorsten said...

What do you suggest, Chris?

Martyn said...

I think if people bought for other people, as soon as you receive it send off, you'd want to keep it. I know I would and I don't want it. I think i'm going to steer clear of that drop tomorrow! Sorry!

Steve said...

I'm assuming I will either be sleeping or working when Olly puts Locke's Secret up so I'm pretty much screwed. If anyone gets one and wants to trade, I will trade Rousseau or smoke monster for it (or possible a combination of some prints)

badfish989 at gmail

ChrisL said...

I wish I could say I have a plan Thorsten but I don't know how we can play this. I do think that everyone in the UK/Europe that is financially able to buy it should be ready to buy it, whether they can afford to keep it or not. then if any of our US friends do miss out they can at least pay back the money quick smart so no ones out of pocket. I just think Europe has to be ready. I have to say that I would probably want to keep this one if I'm fortunate enough to get it but if anyone already has it and can grab another I guess that would help. I don't know - who wants it?

futureself said...

I already have one but I can try for Locke's Secret.

Chris L - I am prancing Captain Jack :)

Torchwood did have the storyline of the alien that suduces it's victim and consumes them during orgasm, so lowering the tone probably isn't the key problem to Torchwood the Musical ;)

All you need is an alien that secrets pheromones that gives you the urge to communicate via song and dance - lol!

Sorry - i promise I will never mention the musical again :S

Andrew said...

Could someone please confirm whether or not the Munn print sold out? Or when it sold out? Because I just hit order and I'm antsy to know if I got it or not :P

theotherben said...

@Wes It was a little before 3

Martyn said...

Yeah, but that orgasm alien was like the second episode and it wasn't particularly good. I do like your idea of the pheromone but wouldn't it touch too closely to the Buffy episode?

What if aliens invade earth and you have to sing to force them to surrender or something?

ChrisL said...

futureself, that would be great if you could.

It's looking right now as though I may be snowed in tomorrow so, apart from running Jnr to school 8-8.30 I may be able to watch twitter all day.

thorsten said...

Andrew, please have a look at Lottos post 201 at the very top…

MJCarp said...

Martyn said...

Change of mind, I will try for it if it's before 11am tomorrow but after that i'm at work and only have an iPhone to hand until 7pm. GMT of course.

DvdBos said...

i'd LOVE to buy Locke's Secret, but i'm not financially able.
215$ are too much for my 23yo pocket.
They are even more with a trip from Italy to NY-WAS-BOS planned in March. :'(

Andrew said...

Alright, thanks guys. Good luck, too!
I really love the Munn print and I hope I get one.
I fear I may be a little late though, as I just ordered around 5:00pm EST
:\

ChrisL said...

Great Martyn, so that's a couple of potentials that could pass the print on. It's a start anyway.

futureself said...

Martyn - sadly I never really watched Buffy so I don't know. I'd be forced to surrender to Barrowman if he sung at me - and take that anyway you want ;)

thorsten said...

@futureself…

I just figured out where your name came from, haha.
I am at Daleks in Manhattan right now ;))

Martyn said...

Nor me futureself, just heard it from my gf who loves Buffy and Angel. There is something about Barrowman, very charismatic person.

Start scripting that musical episode, i'll proof check it and you can send it off to RTD.

Martyn said...

On Topic, I can't imagine a 21 year old artist getting out of bed before 10am so I think it will probably go on sale around 12-2pm GMT. I presume he'd put on sale at a time that suits him, unless he's contracted to sell his copies at a suitable US time.

futureself said...

Thorsten that's fast viewing! Did you watch from Eccleston or start at Tennant? You've got a lot of viewing pleasure to come ;)

Martyn, I'll leave the musical's to Amy Lynn (and Benny and Bjorn)!

Drama said...

I doubt it. I think the artists will drop the prints when they want. Olly will push his out when he fancies it, depending on when he wakes up and what he has to do that day. I'd imagine (for those that can afford it) it's a day of watching and waiting, starting about nine hours from now...

maven said...

After being gone all day...I see a lot of action (or inaction) has been going on here. Congrats to those who got what they wanted and condolences to those that didn't (yet)!

And kudos to all the artists that are doing the best they can with this high demand...they are really down to earth with the fans!

thorsten said...

Eccleston, but skipped the first Tennant…

ObFuSc8 said...

Again -- contracts with ABC are up. The artists can now release whenever they want. If Olly is going to tweet this, I'd set his tweets to roll an alert to your cell and stay close to a laptop if you want one.

DvdBos said...

I can assure he's not contracted to do anything. This "round" of sales is totally a decision of each artist in both price and timing.
They couldn't sell, probably until 30 days before the premiere or til the end of 2009, so now they can.

Till now, we know nothing about:
- The Crash: pure hype, we have no mailing list or something like that, we just have Tan's blog.
- Love Triangle (know nothing)
- The Hatch (i feel it will come in the next few days)
- The Swan (know nothing, no subscription available i think)
- Walt's Kidnapping (idem)
- And that's why.... (waiting for subscription's news)
- Ben (subscription)
- Polar Bear (nothing)
- LOST (i don't know).

I can assume that the last ones can't sell until a month after the release (Stout said that at least until Jan15 we will not see new posters from him).

thorsten said...

Hi Maven, I'm signing off, midnight here ;))

Martyn said...

The first tennant episode or series?

futureself, daleks in Manhattan is before blink, right? I love how my spell check accepts daleks as a real word!

ObFuSc8 said...

WOW! thorsten that was a fast watch through Dr. Who!

Martyn said...

obfusc8, how do you roll the tweets to your phone, is it an app or on the twitter website? Usually pretty good with technology but don't use twitter other than lost posters and derren brown.

Martyn said...

found it, never mind obfusc8

futureself said...

Night Thorsten! If you skipped the first Tennant series you really need to go back and watch Girl in the Fireplace...great episode.

Martyn, Manhatten is before Blink. Blink is totally awesome! One of my favourite episodes!

futureself said...

Derren Brown rocks too Martyn :)

ObFuSc8 said...

Twitter website. You can go to settings at the top, then mobile. First make sure your cell is connected to the account. There are instructions there.

Then go to Olly's name, either in the list of people you follow, or just go to his twitter page. You'll see a button that's a little cell phone in a circle. Click it, it will turn green. Then every tweet Olly send will roll to your cell as a txt.

It should work the same outside of the US.

Martyn said...

Blink is my favourite episode out of all the episodes. Gladly watch that one over and over again. Plus i love Martha so double the pleasure. For me, best assistant is Catherine Tate, which I really didn't expect when I first heard she was taking the role up.

Martyn said...

Didn't know that last part obfusc8, thank you very much, all set up now. And seeing that i'm second in the list of commenters, think i'll retire to bed with a bit of alan partridge.

Goodnight everyone!

Patmc said...

Yeah, I think the UK contingent here are finally going to get their revenge on the US folks: They get the poster sometime during a sane hour... while the US sleeps. :-/

If anyone here feels like helping out... I'm definitely in for Locke (or the infamous Blocke!) drop. If anyone would be willing to be my poster buddy... I can PayPal you the money or whatever works for you.

I'll try to figure out how to set my phone to trigger on a certain Tweet. Does anyone know Olly's Twitter name?

futureself said...

The end of Tennants series 2 is amazing. You have one great episode after another:

"Human Nature"
"The Family of Blood"
"Blink"
"Utopia"
"The Sound of Drums"
"Last of the Time Lords"

Happy days :D

Martyn said...

that's series 3, isn't it?

And yes, I totally agree, those are the only Doctor Who episodes I have downloaded off iTunes, hope to get the boxset soon though.

ObFuSc8 said...

Blink was amazing -- gave me chills for a second or two though.

Girl in the fireplace was good too.

I could rewatch most of the new series Dr. Who without complaint. I don't have cable -- I would never, ever get anything done if I did. PBS plays the series, but a season or so behind. When I get impatient I just rent or watch a download.

DvdBos said...

See you tomorrow, i'm going to bed.
I'll have to finish my copy of WIRED and than i can sleep. :D
I need Slater's print for 50$.

Does anyone knows who has posters 1-50? The artist have 51-100..

Ah, another question: if you could choose, which number would you buy from range 51-100 and why? :)

ObFuSc8 said...

Patmc - http://twitter.com/ollymoss

Martyn, it's series 3 in the new Doctor Who series but 2nd from the 10th Doctor/David Tennant POV

Patmc said...

@futureself - Thanks!

ObFuSc8 said...

ABC has posters #1-50 for each.

It's how any of the producers, writers, etc who want one will have a chance. A bunch of them tried for a few and most never got past BUY NOW.

With these posters in such high demand, I am not at all particular about which # 51-100 I get -- just happy these are available and that I can enjoy them.

Todd Slater has subs -- I have no idea how many but I have heard less than 50, so there is a chance he may put Ben Linus up at some point, but I would highly doubt $50.

Martyn said...

Ah, yes, sorry futureself, re-read it, i'm stupid!

ImAnnie, i'd choose 88, the year I was born.

Seriously, I am going to bed now.

Chrcowan said...

I got one early...then I went for another one for my friend...so technically I had two orders, but I got this email for one of them:
"CCNow has received a request to cancel order number 185-74-6391.
Your Paypal account has been issued a refund."

Amy Lynn said...

OK, I hope I don't embarrass anyone, but you guys are really the best on the planet.

About a week ago, ChrisL emailed me and asked if I had the Barracks. When I said I didn't, he said he was going to send me his extra copy AS A GIFT.

Then, today, when I got home, I got a package from comixguru, and get this... it's a SIGNED (by the writers) Expose mug from the 1988 event. AND, apparently, while she was getting the mug signed, Ob was telling them about my songs.

You guys are really, really wonderful. I am so proud to be a part of this group.

Eugene said...

Sorry, you guys. I know what that feels like. I'm going for Locke's Secret. But I don't need any others so will gladly try for any of you(Yeah, Martyn, I mean you for Walt's Kidnapping, LOL).

I know everyone and their mother is prolly already asking, but I would love a poster buddy for Locke's Secret. That poster has meant the most to me from the start and it got so much more important when I met Terry O'Quinn at my work. I love a chance to get the print and will stay up for 24 hours to get it, but that extra help would be awesome. Obviously I would pay for it immediately or even pay/trade with Rousseau or Walt's Kidnapping in the mix. Thanks everyone.

I knew people would come thru. :) To those of you that are offering to try for those of us in the US, thanks!! Again, I'll paypal the $ and I also have an extra Locke shirt. Amy Lynn -- I don't know if they'll remember, but I tried to tell a bunch of folks (Darlton, Jensen, Gregg Nations, Sam, etc) about your parodies/lyrics. I wished I'd had an Any Lynn on a stick to sing to them.

Anne's Polar Bear plushie truly is amazing, and I bet she could sell it for a few 100 $ -- fingers crossed that Darlton will actually get in touch with her.

mungonna said...

Some odd eye contact in the foto as well..Sayid and Ben..Frank and maybe Richard. Jin seems rather oddly orientated towards Locke rather than Sun,,yet Sun is looking at Jin. Hurley and Claire?.and is that a little of Smokie peeking over the wall? The dynamics of the foto show points of interest. Locke isn't looking at any of them. If its his lost supper and hes smiling,,then I guess he knows what is coming next, and like Jacob,,is prepared for it. Which is way cool!!

PEANUT BUTTER SEEMS THE MAIN COURSE!!!..and everybody has a tray,,and strangely..Locke's tray has something half white half blue on it. I have seen that you are looking for the 4 toed statue. I've got one but depending on what you had to offer in exchange (I am in the seek for Jacob's Cabin, so the print itself or some money to help me buy that expensive one) maybe we can trade :)

Last I saw of Zort he was stuck in an airport on the way to Florida and he said not to worry about getting posters for him, he was happy with what he had- so I doubt that he tried to get it. He said there was limited connection there.

Naturally I get out of the loop (was out of town for the holidays, was nearly killed by a shopping trip to IKEA, and now am a bit ill) . . . and everything goes bananas!

Not too busted up over missing my second chances on some of the prints, though; I don't think the prices are unfair but can't currently afford it. Can't support other artists, too busy supporting myself lol.

Anyhow, since I FINALLY sort of got my Flickr pics back in order (cursed uploadr!):
Gallery 1988 photos!!!

Including more shots of the art than you could ever want (cut down from about 2x as many). Editing them left me kicking myself so hard about not buying one of the pieces! But still have pics of them. Sorry about the barrel distortion :(

Nice to see the continuing stories of gifting, trading and generally helping each other out! Fantastic.
Will check out Smokey, but would like to hear from Mr Tong...
In other breaking news - just retrieved Stout from the mailbox - Yeah! The internationals have started arriving!

Anne thank you so much for posting those pics!! Sadly the camera I brought with me was not working right and I only had my iPhone as backup. Yours are lovely and very detailed. I didn't get the chance to look at all of the tiny square character prints so it's awesome you posted those! Thank you. :) Love that little bear of yours. As for names... I'd suggest Charlotte, in tribute. Besides, anthropologists are awesome! ;)

I just found this on Eric Tan's blog. Looks like we may have to wait a few weeks for "The Crash" (sigh):

Hey Lost fans,
I'm not sure if I've ever gotten more inquiries about a project of mine than the Lost poster. As a HUGE fan of the show myself, I can totally understand it. It's such a cool show and the poster series was an amazing collection that celebrates the final season of an instant classic. It was an honor to be included among artists I look up to, and my mind was completely blown when I saw the Lostargs fan poll that voted my contribution 1st! I'm glad I was able to design something that hopefully captured what that show means to me and a special thanks to all who voted and have been following the poster series. I wish I could've met all of you who actually showed up at Gallery 1988 on opening night. That was a very impressive turnout!

The good news is, I do have a few posters left for sale! The bad news is, I have a ridiculously crazy deadline this month that will keep me from getting the posters into tubes and out to you right away. The usual 9 to 5 job is actually more like 8 to 9 these days and I hope you guys understand and bear with me at least for the next couple of weeks. I assure you that I will post a date, time, and web address on my blog once I get everything sorted. Thanks to all those who've dropped me a line and contact info. Unfortunately, I've received more requests than posters available so instead of leaving anyone out, I thought I'd sell on a 1st come, 1st served basis like many of the other artists have. Sorry there are not enough to go around. I collect a lot of things myself and I know that crappy feeling when I miss out on something I really like, or something that simply completes the series. Just check back in every now and then and I'll do my best to get you "The Crash". I do appreciate your patience in all this.

Thanks,
Eric

So nothing from Olly yet? I think I feel a "sick day" coming on. I really hope to get this one.

MurghBatwar said...

SOmehow i think we may be waiting for Olly for a while. Not even 9am yet and he leaves to go America tomorrow. Think it'll be this afternoon UK time...

Unknown said...

wouldnt you think going to the US would make you want to do it earlier?

Team Jack said...

Decided to just stay up all night and try for a chance at the Olly. Haven't actually done this before so I'm wondering how it works. When you click the Paypal link does it immediately only allow you one poster in your basket? Also, if you already have an account, I am assuming you just sign in, right? You don't need to enter any info (i.e. address, credit card #, etc.) if it's already saved to your account?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Kinda nervous since I know how popular it is, but we'll see. :) *fingers crossed*

yeah -once you add to cart you sign into paypal and just go through the motions

Morning folks. Snowed in big time so will not be heading in to the office today. I guess I'll be watching and waiting.

Anne, those are fantastic photos!

Patmc, thanks for posting the Tan blog note. THAT's gonna be a mad one.

Martyn, you said you managed to follow Ob's twitter/phone instructions, how did you get just Olly's tweets to your phone? I can't see the phone icon Ob mentioned?

MurghBatwar said...

I'm glued to the computer here but doing all sorts of things while i wait as i seriously doubt he'll do it this early. If it hasn't appeared by midday the i'll get more attentive.
I just somehow doubt that a 23 year old designer on the cusp of emmigrating will have selling 40 posters at the forefront of his mind.
Unless he's given that job to someone else in which case ignore all i have just said!

Unknown said...

has anyone used text message updates from twitter before? Im having Olly's feed texted to me, but does the text come right away, or will there be a delay?

ChrisL said...

Jeffrey, please explain how you're getting olly's feed texted to you. I set up my iPhone in the setup section of Twitter but can't see how to specifically get a single feed texted?

@Martyn - I still haven't got my Polar Bear from Parcelforce either. Just to make it even worse, my LOST print came yesterday, so now I get the feeling Polar Bear is totally gone.

No email back from Ty Givens yet either, and I sent that two days ago. It's not looking good.

Glad you got yours sorted!

ChrisL said...

It's OK, tweets on phone sorted!

ChrisL said...

We have a NEW POST. And it's a good one!

Martyn said...

Callum, just repeatedly e-mail them, they'll then have no choice to reply and give you a tracking number. Go to parcelforce and put it in their tracking system. It will say not found but now there is an option for international deliveries. Tick that box and retype the tracking number and click search. You will be given a new tracking number, the one they slapped on the at heathrow when it came in and will tell you where it lost got logged. Then call up parcelforce and kick up a fuss. Mine now is updated to out for delivery, which means i'll have it by the EOD today!

Eugene, how did you ever know I wanted Walt's Kidnapping? lol

ChrisL, glad to see you have sorted your phone tweets out.

John Paul, you've inspired me now to get locke's secret so I can trade it for walt's kidnapping and RT. That way Zort will get his RT!

Ironically, as soon as I post about not having the print yet, it comes through the door!

Finally got my Polar Bear - yay!

Hey guys, I hear there are some rumors going around, so let me clear them up.

The 300 Ken Taylor Smoke Monster prints were ALL stamped/numbered, rather than signed. The shipping to Australia was too much of a risk, those boxes were HEAVY. The ones that go up for sale tomorrow are the exact same as the ones that were released through ABC, he just happens to have a damn good stamp that looks like they are signed.

Secondly, there is some rumor going around that the colors are different on the ones coming out tomorrow? Not true, they are the exact same, in the same edition, and printed at the same time as the ABC ones.

Hopefully that clears up some of the weird rumors going around.
