Prize 10 - 1 Less Than Usual 495

Well I'm almost a little tearful that the 10th and last competition is here. As you can see from the picture to the left, this prize is a Tawaret Statue model from the Gallery 1988 art show. (Note - does not include a miniature Zort !)

This is another prize donated to us by Gallery 1988 in recognition of the LOSTARGs site and community as being one of the best places on the web to discuss LOST art.

This draw will again be free to enter but as with the other competitions, apart from number 9, there will only be one entry per person allowed.

Like prize 8 this one will be a little different.

Question

1. What is the title of the LOSTARGs blog post ?

(You will only be able to find this once you have found clue 2. We need the exact title, so if you think you have it and it does not match a blog post title, you don't have it)

2. What is the location of the second clue ?

(Hint - the 2nd clue cannot be found on LOSTARGs.com)

Clue 1

(If we don't get at least 20 correct entries by Midday (EST) on Tuesday we will make things a little easier)

Submit your answers by clicking here and entering the information into the entry form. This same form will be used for each prize. Make sure you choose PRIZE 10 from the selection drop down.

Entries for this prize must be submitted by 28th January 2010

This draw is again free for all to enter, but if you can spare some money then either the logo to the right of the main blog can be used to donate to the Red Cross or as with previous draws UNICEF is charity that does good work in over 150 contries. The link takes you to a site to donate specifically to the Haiti Earthquake Appeal. Click here or the logo if you wish to donate.

Ok, I see. I try to avoid the title in the OLP too if I can. Sometimes I'll wait a week to listen to it. :)

@Justin lol you'll have to answer my email when you have time then ;)

@Thorsten congrats on Gizmodo! Very cool, and deserved.

Well done TW ~ they should have given you first place!

So while it's cold and windy here (not surprising) but it's not raining or snowing...and our power went out. Must be in anticipation of tonight's The Incident. Hopefully it's back on by then.

ObFuSc8 said...

And congrats thorsten!

Also thanks SayidsGirl about the episode title info at TLC. I generally try to avoid anything beyond the next episode's title or promo.

Burton said...

@Thorsten - Nice work on the Iphone mockup on Gizmodo. I read Gizmodo religiously and i had looked at the post on there this afternoon, but had no idea that it was yours. Nice job!

In regards to the episode titles, I have seen the titles of the first 12 episodes, and to be honest, I don't think they give anything away, other than hint at who the episode might be centric to, if indeed they will still take that format.

I've always been spoiler free, but I consider the episode names as a teaser, and sometimes a game by the producers.

Amy Lynn said...

ioioos, normally I'd agree with you, except for the episode in question.

Tess315 said...

You're welcome Ob.
You just reminded me of my horrific experience with the season 5 finale. My cable went out right before Juliet was dragged into the drill hole and didn't come back on until it was over. Everyone was blogging how heart wrenching it was and going what, what! I had to wait until the next day to see it on line. I did at least get to see the end.

Anonymous said...

I think the writers will have taken the opportunity to play with us more than ever with the Season 6titles.

For those that know the title of the first episode, you could read it in three very different ways.

But they could all be wrong and it is simply a joke statement, like the season 5 title "some like it hoth".

Tess315 said...

More often than not the episode titles don't give away to much, but on occasion they do. So I just avoid all of them to be safe.
Also I don't particularly want to know who the episode is centered around.
If I see a title I'm not devastated. I just prefer not to.

Amy Lynn said...

I think that the names of the posters make very good episode titles.

Anonymous said...

@ SG

I know what you mean. When I accidently caught the title of Episode 12, it didn't spoil anything for me, but it reminded me not to see any more, in case the final few titles gave clues to the finale the finale.

I just solved the puzzle! About time!

There's a new LOST promo #15 on youtube. I haven't seen it on TV and I'm not 100% sure it isn't fan made but it says Official. It would be a huge spoiler if it's real and really interesting.

beesknees7 said...

@Justin Oh, I definitely didn't mean that in a disparaging way! I love puzzles but tend to get easily frustrated so this one is just a bit much for me.

Unknown said...

I just want to make sure I filled the forms out correctly last night. It was so late but I was not giving up. Question 2 is just suppose to be the email address where we find the clue to lead us to question 1 correct?

Way to go ioioos! Glad you got it.

ObFuSc8 said...

Yay! The power just came back on...phew. Now we have heat AND can watch The Incident. Hmmm they just had a LOST promo on ABC and at the end a plug for the EW LOST booklet.

Burton said...

@SamG - Do you have a link to this new Lost promo? I found one on youtube called Lost promo #15, but it didn't have any spoilers in it, it was all footage from previous seasons....

Justin said...

@beesknees - lol don't worry, I didn't take it that way :) I just love puzzles and Zort's puzzle makes me jealous cuz I think it's cooler than the ones I've done

@Anne - yeah totally sorry I haven't replied yet. I've been at work from 9am to 11:30pm the past couple weeks and usually don't want to go near my computer after I get home. But I'll try to get back to you tonight :)

Justin said...

I don't know if I'm the last person to see these, but my co-worker just showed me this:

http://mattsoncreative.com/blog/2010/01/18/lost-posters/

Those are some pretty bad ass posters. Kinda wish this guy did one of the DCAAPB posters.

Sam G said...

Warning - if it's real it could be considered a spoiler

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uK9hIETvB8

Burton said...

@SamG - I realy don't think that is real. The character is clearly superimposed in several of the scenes, and i can't see the Lost crew doing something that cheesey. Plus, with the tight lid on everything, i find it hard to believe they would have an official promo that would include a spoiler of that proportion.

Tess315 said...

Those are nice posters. I like the eye in the jungle, the plan es crossing paths, and the smoke monster. I now k ow where memphish at TLC got her avi.

Just Thinking said...

Just saw an ABC promo for Lost on TV that has a couple of quick images with writing on them. Happened to be recording it so I have one of them paused. Hmmm...

throwfar said...

Dharma van and Number home and on the wall. Walt's kidnapping, Love triangle, & Hatch still in transit! ugh

Sam G said...

@ Burton

I have my doubts about it also. But it doesn't have the tell tale signs of a fan made video. It has the constant, same ABC logo in the right hand corner and it's one of the times for a commercial. I asked Andy @ DARK UFO if he's seen it before.

Tess315 said...

Lost is enhanced tonight.

Amy Lynn said...

Ahhh, crud, I didn't realize, just started recording during the shaky LOST sign.

Can someone transcribe the Esau/Jacob scene in popups pls?

ObFuSc8 said...

So it is the enhanced version of The Incident tonight. Not that the enhanced comments are canon though.

Justin -- your have been fun too!

I don't remember who posted that Mattson Creative link before, but it was a few weeks ago and said he thought of them to use for his own LOST premier party.

Anne, I forgot to add earlier that I too loved your Locke and Ben doodle and would like to see it finished.

Burton said...

@SamG - I do hear what you are saying, it is of excellent quality if it is fan made. If the person had the skills to superimpose the person into the scenes, they could probably superimpose an ABC logo no problem. Only time will tell. Lets hope its not legit.

Tess315 said...

Amy Lynn
I didn't know it was going to be enhanced either. I didn't get my recording started until after MIB came up to Jacob. So I'm not sure what the pop ups said. I know they didn't confirm the ship was the Black Rock. Only that it was an 1800's sailing vessel.

It will probably be on ABC.com tomorrow.

Just Thinking said...

Ah- I see those stills in the promo are from the room 23 brainwashing video. Nothing new there.

Tess315 said...

Ob
You're right the enhancements aren't canon. But sometimes they're interesting.

ObFuSc8 said...

Enhanced comments at the beginning said the the sun god in Jacob's tapestry is Aten.

They actually called MIB the Man in Black and said that he is Jacob's nemesis.

The scene on the beach was "over 140 years before present day".

The ship we see is a wooden ship from the 1800's. (The enhances comments don't mention anything about its name/Black Rock).

Joey said...

If anyone is interested, I posted this at the spoilertv thread for sales, hopefully it is ok to put it here once:

"I have 4-Toed Statue and Ben Linus for trade.

The ones I need are: Jacob's Cabin, The Crash, Locke's Secret, The Hatch, and LOST

If anyone wants to buy them instead I'll do 4 Toed for $150 and Ben for $250.

Thanks :-)"

John LaHair said...

I will sleep well tonight... puzzle hopefully solved & answers submitted.

Will be interesting once answers are announced to discuss how many different paths these clues took us down.

Unknown said...

S6 of LOST will be entirely about Nikki and Paulo and other random people from the background!!

@Ob: I could have told you it was Aten. ;) The Amarna period is the only time in Egyptian history where Aten was worshiped as a completely independent god. The pharaoh Akhenaten forced monotheism (in the form of Aten) on the populace. There was also a significant shift in the art style during that period. Anyway it was all over after his death - Egyptians pretended it didn't happen. Ahkenaten was the predecessor of Tutanhkamun, who was originally called Tutankhaten.

/pointless history lesson you could have gotten on Wikipedia ;)

@Justin: nah man I'm just giving you a hard time, I figured it was work. No idea it was THAT bad!

@SamG: clever and probably quite a lot of work, but imho definitely fan-made.

mungonna said...

Oh those popup enchancements!!

I'd like to congratulate everybody and everyone here for the demonstrated creativeness displayed. It seems to me that the ending of season 5,,which many are watching now,,again,,not only signals a start over but also is a challenge to the viewer. Its like the challenge of a Masters Degree,,where after years of getting your brain stuffed with education,, you are sent out to the real world and study your applied knowledge for the degree. After all LOST is a 6 season Show, much like a Masters Program,,and season 5 ends with a blank paper,, empty canvas,,white out screen,,surely a challenge to the viewer to..fill it in.. create from your imagination ,,make your dreams real.

For the last 6 to 7 months here, how that challenge,, knowingly or not,, has been fulfilled here as it transcended to the viewer has been demonstrated. The creativity in reveal solving of each print ,shows what collective heads can do in exploring mystery. Talents of individuals have come to light thru out the ARG. It just shows what this community is about. It was Lautreamont,,who said over 140 years ago.." we are all poets". Two generations later Andre Breton and his Surrealists picked that up and made it central to their cause. When given the opportunity..our individual talents rise to the surface and shine...filling in that blank paper, the empty canvas, the white out screen.

In a way.. I feel I have already seen season 6 LOST. I've been spoiled by this LOSTARG Community.

I am beyond stumped. I am horrible at anagrams and when I thought I had an awesome one, I realized it can't be right cause it doesn't connect to the other pics. :-/ I don't know the album pic either, but for some reason I think I may know the artist... do any characters share the same name? If so, I may have that part. UGH. It's probably simple and I'm just missing it.

Unknown said...

*sigh*

The universe is determined not to ever let me have Locke's Secret apparently. :(

Congrats to whoever -did- get MilkcanRocks' LS print. I hate you just a little bit right now. *grin*

Now just going to sit here in front of the computer until the last competition winners are announced with lots of digits crossed...

Unknown said...

I think I got the answer to the 10th Prize. Only thing that worries me is the fact that my answer to the anagram (while awesome and sensical in its own right) has nothing to do with the rest of my clues. So obviously my anagram's wrong. This just means that there are a bunch of anagrams out there that work - don't be discouraged if yours isn't making sense. I actually found it easier to work from top to bottom thinking logically instead of literally/textually.

Drama said...

every day now seems to be a game of cat and mouse with the postman. I'm waiting on about six prints (two are gifts) including WK. They've been on order, at most two weeks, so it's literally any day now. IT'S KILLING ME. Morning.

Team Jack said...

One of them was Locke's Secret? Psah. I told him that was my second fave after Crash(which I even said no one would give away). That's why I mentioned both. Makes sense now why his reply didn't reference LS at all. *shrugs* They are the only two from the 16 that I really want. Hopefully one day I guess.

Unknown said...

From the emails he sent me, he did things really fairly. It was just that more than 1 person emailed him wanting Locke's Secret, so it ended up being randomized...and not me.

I can't complain about that.

But I can whine that no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get a break and get one.

*whine*
*whine*
*whine*

Oh, look a camera!
*cheese*
:P

So, for anyone who looks over and sees the terribly sad man with no face weeping in the corner and thinks to themselves,

"Self? What could we possibly do to make that man with no face happy?"

The answer is that which whispers in your heart even now:

"Contact him and give him your Locke's Secret print. For if you give a man a high-res picture of a print, he can enjoy it today on his computer. If you give him the actual print, he can learn how to admire forever..."

Here endeth the lesson.

Team Jack said...

Lol give it to you, as in free? Did you swipe the beverage in image #3? ;) Hell, I'd just be thrille to one day buy one for less than a kidney. ;p

XXXHardcore said...

MilkCan DOES rock and found his entire method and process to be most fair. I feel incredibly fortunate in that I was able to purchase his other print (that wasn't Locke's Secret). I have incredible respect for him for not submitting to the easy ways of eBay and making a fancy profit from the Locke's Secret print. And the print I was able to purchase, too, for that matter.

MilkcanRocks said...

Yeah, one of the prints was "Locke's Secret". Sorry Team Jack, but A LOT of people wrote to me with multiple requests, and that was something I was frowning upon.

If someone like UnseenPresence wrote and said, "hey man, I only want JUST this one - THIS IS THE ONE I am dying for" then I gave them a shot. I can't tell you how many people shot themselves in the foot by saying "Oh, I would like this one and this one and that one."

I tried to make it really fair - I could of just put it up on eBay for the cash, but it wasn't about that. But I wouldn't give it away for free, less than what I paid for or for body parts either. Fair is fair, ya know? And now two people have the prints they want without having to deal with f5'ing or not being Mr or Mrs Moneybags.

Andrew said...

How much did the LS go for from Milkcanrocks?

MurghBatwar said...

Sorry man - just got an email saying I was the random winner. Feeling your pain...

(but only until arrives...)

Unknown said...

TeamJack:

In response, I read from the Book of Jacob, Chapter 4, Verse 8:

'Yea, though it be easy for the owner of a secret print to sell such thing for enough loot to gamble for a week in the Strip of Iniquity' (commonly believed to be Vegas in modern translations), 'such a choice is the surest way to hell. For none shall find their way to the finale except through me, and I hate those bastard flippers. So someone take pity upon the presence who remains unseen by all except the few at the front of the line at the gallery of 1 and 9 and double 8, and find it in thy hearts to allow him the secret for a cost of far less than those who will be in hell. For to give is divine, and such stuff like that. Excuse me, now, I must go get stabbed.'

I didn't make the words, man.
I just relate them.

The fact that words written 4,815,162,342 hours ago happen to relate to me is pure chance.

Or maybe destiny. Or fate.

:)

Unknown said...

MurghBatwar:

Like I said....just a little bit. *grin*

MilkcanRocks said...

Sorry Andrew - I don't feel it's right to talk 'business' regarding a matter between MurghBatwar and myself. But figure it like this - both parties felt like it was a fair deal, and it was less than the average price being sold for on eBay currently. But at the end of the day, it was a randomly picked person in a random way and it's to someone who really wanted it. Just don't ask the random way - you will wind up kicking yourself more.

Team Jack said...

Nobody shot themselves in the foot. There are other posters out there and I have faith eventually all Losties will own the prints the love. It may take awhile but considering how devoted Lost fans are, I see it happening. Just think good thoughts my friends. And I'd venture a guess that since the prints were all fantastic, most fans probably have several favorites, not just one. I myself love/want two most of all but would love to be lucky enough to own the set as some do on here. Also, you'd be surprised how certain former high demand/expensive items go way down in price on eBay once the initial surge is over. I'm not saying all will majorly drop, but after the show ends I wouldn't be surprised if some people "Lost" interest. ;) I'm not worried. It'll happen eventually.
