A Little Extra From Tim Doyle 327

I feel like I've been here before but now we have a second follow up to Tim Doyle's The Numbers poster. Patmc has sent in this picture of the extra doodle on the poster and a copy of the letter that Tim sent out with the poster.

Look closely in the letter if you are interested in more art from nakatomiinc.com

p.s. Patmc also did some checking and asked Tim for permission to post the letter and the discount code just for us Losties.

I refuse to belive that Amy Lynn, Gregg nations said there's a trick to is, and darn it, I will find that trick if it kills me.

Or until tomorrow when I can take my languages exam.

Ok I don't necessarily believe you anymore Amy ;-)
Martyn, please let me know when you figure out the "trick".

MJCarp said...

Hello, Weinbeeezy! Good to see you here in view!

Patmc said...

@Martyn - LOL! I was doing the exact same thing last night. But when I got frustrated, and just held down the select button on my remote... I noticed something very strange. If you look at the Dharma swan logo behind the Davies "rejection" page... the "R" in Dharma... is backwards! The only reason I was able to see it (it is normally covered by text), is that I freaked out the system by holding down the select button. I'm not crazy... I'll post pictures later tonight. Is this somehow significant?

I did some research on this to see if anyone else had noticed... and I couldn't find anything having to do with Lost University. There are some articles about the backwards "R" appearing on ABC's site in the past, but people argued that it was just a lazy web designer. But I find it hard to believe that this was just an accident. Lost University was a "big" project... I don't see someone building the LU project grabbing the wrong file, and not noticing.

Anyone else notice this... and do you think it has some significance to Lost University or Lost Season 6?

Amy Lynn said...

I actually think Gregg Nations was either putting you all on, or didn't know what he was talking about, since they announced the other day that the Davies class wouldn't have openings till the new semester

Patmc said...

@Martyn - Forgot... I too want to know HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU GET INTO THE DAVIES LECTURE!!! I've tried everything I can think of... and there is no Googleable info out there!

This just in from Stout's website:
"i'll be emailing this friday regarding upcoming poster sales for lost / phish / monster squad.

those sales won't be til next week. if you're on my mailing list, you'll get plenty of warning."

ChrisL said...

OK - I'm believing Amy again now.

Martyn said...

Patmc...

You're not crazy, I see it. Just hammered the X button on my PS3 and now it's repeatedly trying to enrol me now. But the backwards R is intriguing.

Google is useless, I can't even think of keywords to find it, and I can find just about anything on Google, very demoralising!

Hi I have a bunch of posters that I don't want, I was trying to get the whole set and now I just don't want to have to ebid for them.

Here are the posters I want to sell:

Swan
Statue
Walt's
Love Triangle
Barracks
Polar Bear

I will look at all reasonable offers.

Amy Lynn said...

I don't understand why you would want to sell your posters just because you don't have a full set. Were you just collecting the full set to flip it?

The question of favorite characters is difficult for me to answer. As others have posted above, the list changes for me somewhat season to season.

Hurley and Charlie have been fun since the beginning. Like Anne, I was already a Dom fan from LoTR. I have missed Charlie everyday since the Not Penny's Boat scene in TtLG.

The Ben character has been endlessly perplexing and of course ME amazing, so while I'd be wary of him if I were on the Island, he's still a fav. Locke's challenges as our Man of Faith would be why I'd include him, though sometimes the ease at which he is manipulated is frustrating.

Faraday appeals to the part of me that is, always has been and will always be a physics geek. I have actually found Miles entertaining since S4, of course more so in S5. Des is uniquely and miraculously special. Sawyer, his nicknames/Sawyerisms and loyalty despite the con-man exterior. Richard Alpert and his back story continue to fascinate, and of course Jacob and MIB for similar reasons.

Sayid for his skillz, strong and dependable since S1. I guess the doc in me identifies a somewhat with Jack and Juliet, though less so as the seasons have gone on.

I know a lot of fans have their reservations about Kate, and while I don't like her tendency to run or some of her decisions, I still find that she's a strong character IMHO. And yes, I like Eloise as well. Eko was interesting while we had him. Jin and Sun, Rose and Bernard. And I'd like to see what happens with Libby's character arc.

Pierre Chang because well, he is Pierre Chang and I see I have left Vincent out.

So, you see, I have trouble choosing from this ensemble. Our story would not be where it is wit the absence of any of our characters (except maybe Nikki and Paulo).

I've seen that video you posted for Davies class at ABC.com that wasn't the whole video though.
That's odd that they'd use that as Davies class. There must be more to it.
Hopefully I'll be able to get in on the 15th.

Sayid's Girl,

I haven't watched it because I want to watch it on the disc. Think i'm going to give up, may have crashed my PS3, but Patmc's observation of the backwards R is really intriguing. I wonder if we'll ever find out why?

Goodnight everyone, thanks for another day of enjoyable chit chat!

Maven, going to send you a quick e-mail before I go related to your previous e-mail.

Martyn said...

ImAnnie...

In all seriousness, wait until the end of the week and then just send a nice reminder e-mail. If nothing, resend it in case they missed it. Once they reply to an e-mail, they are extremely helpful. Although they never replied after they gave me the tracking number for The Polar Bear. Hmmm, I wonder how it's doing, such an abused bear, getting shipped to Uk and then back to America. Must be in desperate need of water by now.

Ok, defo lost it, going to sleep.

It's too hard to chose my favorite character of LOST, but the one that I keep coming back to is Jin.

From what I can remember, I don't think Jin has done anything that would make him a bad person. The most questionable thing he did turned out to be because he was trying to save the guy's life. Even when they first land on the show, he was acting that way because one of Sun's father's employees scared him before he got on the flight.

Sun was portrayed as the one who was the victim in her marriage in season 1. I say Jin is the victim, though he is so loyal that he sticks with her through all of the bad things she does.

Sun cheated was the reason Jin had to do "special assignments" for her father, Sun grew to spite Jin for what she made him do, and Sun learned how to speak English to leave Jin and then boned the guy she learned it from!

At this point, the only redemption I see for Sun is if she sacrifices herself for Jin in season 6. I believe that is how her story will end.

Hi to all...

Favourite characters:
Michael - love his story and Harold Perrineau is an amazing actor. Not all characters have a happy ending.
Charlie - so much life to this character. Dom is awesome.
Locke - great story, all the way through( So far?)
Desmond - How can ya not love Des, brotha?
Miles - prickly. I love it. It's when I consider his character and the fact that we've seen little of his backstory (compared to others) that I lament that we not longer get 24 episode seasons.

I do have other favs. I do like Jack, and seeing him struggle gives his heroic(tbd?) character depth.

ObFuSc8 - Sorry to hear about your last few days. Best wishes to you.

Nice framing on Walt's, AmyLynn.

On framing, the subject came up recently on EB. I posted a pic of my framed Dharma Van on pg. 72 of the LOST series thread there.

Not the best pic, but you'll get the idea. 22 x 28 frame. 2 inches (all sides) mat. Generally I prefer mats (vs. without) , specifically white, as they simply let the artwork speak for itself, without trying to emphasize anything in the print. Just my approach. Also, all of my other framing has white mats, so as you look around the room at different framed /matted prints, there is a consistency. Others have a different approach to matting, and I've seen some cool results. But for this print, the Van, on black paper, the white mat makes it pop -brings out the whites in the flowers especially. My humble two cents on framing and matting.

Well, I'm off to bed now. But as promised (quite a bit) earlier... here are the links to the Dharma logo from Lost University, with the backward R. I took the pictures myself, and as Martyn confirmed earlier... it's not a Photoshop or a fake.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly why they used the backward R... I've got it! Season 6 is the BACKWARDS season! How wild would it be if time resets, 815 lands at LAX... but when they get off the plane: EVERYTHING IS WRITTEN BACKWARDS, and they're the only ones who seem to notice!

Um... I did say how late it is here for me, right? ;-)
