The Circle Is Complete 241

As we haven't had an update for a little while this picture has given us the perfect opportunity for a new post.

Thorsten has been sent this copy of the poster he created for us, via Reverend Milo, it took me a few seconds to work out who the signatures were from, but then the lightbulb lit !

By the way the winners of the Haiti relief competion are still being processed. We had a lot of entries to go through and we are waiting for PayPal and Save The Children to finalise the donations without any admin change being applied.

For what is worth, I did really like the Chainsawhands "Don't Let Them Touch" Print. The artist is also a fan of the show and wanted an afforable print fans of the show could appreciate (and afford). $20 is very cheap, especially for such a limited run.

As for his other work, to each his own. Previously, I had purchased his handfinished "Merry Christmas, Jesus" print.

Less than a week to Episode 1!

Well, look at that - I'm a real page turner.

AWESOME LOST Easter Egg (found on www.boingboing.net), on www.kayak.com:

Link to boingboing post

Type in Sydney to LAX, Wed Sep 22, and you'll see the option to choose Oceanic Airlines!!!!!

COOOOOOL! Love this type of promotional easter eggery!

@Amy Lynn - Wow, beat me to it by almost 30mins... I guess I should read the comments before I post...

@ChrisL - I still can't believe I even got one... let alone an Artist Proof! He had already given some to his subscribers, so there were less of the 50 left than normal. I feel like I definitely hit the poster Lotto on this one!

I'm at work, but I'm going to try to email them if I have a free moment. I would love to get some details if they don't mind sharing them with me/us. :-)

Still waiting nervously for my "white whale" (ie. The Crash). Completion is almost within reach...! ;-)

My $.02 worth- I like the Merry Christmas, Jesus print and also purchased it. I think it shows the commercialization of Christmas at Jesus' expense (though he did get a B-Day cupcake!). His other art might not be for everyone's tastes, but Don't Let Them Touch is an awesome must have, in my opinion, especially for the price. Can't wait to see what the hand-finishing looks like!

That Oceanic Airlines easter egg is pretty funny!

Unrelated, here's a pic of my Hatch framed.

Side note: it'd be cool if someone could collect photos of everyone's framed art so others can see different ideas of how to get prints framed!!

@CreedFeed - whoa, those colors pop. Nice framing job!

Can't believe S6 is only 5 days away!!

did you notice the price for the tickets ont he Oceanic tickets ? 4815.16 price & 23.42 taxes Of course I had to print it out. lol

@creedfeed, I see you came up with a solution to The Hatch and its lack of a built-in border (like The Swan Station). Is it mounted to some kind of backer board? How? And then double-matted?

Nice!

Cosmically Yours

Unknown said...

Yes, there's a backing board. I don't know much about art and framing... this was the first piece of art work I've ever bought. I took it to a local framing shop and had it professionally done. They put the poster up on the wall and showed me several samples and gave recommendations, showing why they recommended it. It cost about $150 total for the poster to be framed.

just heard from Lauren Gregg - she has been told that ABC are clamping firmly on Lost "inspired" art, so has taken down the smokie print... if you didn't get one, you ain't getting one.

ChrisL said...

Surely that's semi official though Ben? It was at the exhibition! Plus, they'd be struggling to take action on an illustrated piece like that I'd have thought. Still, I guess Lauren wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of ABC. Better safe than sorry. I'm very pleased I managed to get one. Thanks again for the heads up.

Amy Lynn said...

@ChrisL, semi official or not, I assume anyone who had a piece there that night signed a contract detailing exactly what they could and could not do.

Drama said...

apparently Jensen just advised her that ABC have a friendly department who'se job it is to scour the net for copyright infringement on their big acts. So I'd expect those other semi-official prints to start vanishing, if that department exist, and / or are good at their jobs. :(

futureself said...

So....I'm drowning in poster tubes! What do I do with them all?

Drama said...

also, can I make a request? S6 will air a good few days in the USA before the UK. I still love this site, and want to be here, but if it's going to be impossible to avoid spoilers, I'm going to have to leave. Please don't make me leave!

ChrisL said...

I guess that means no Charlie and Polar Bear for us. Shame.

futureself. I finally had to move a load into the loft last weekend!

Amy Lynn said...

I think we decided that after LOST airs in EST next Tuesday, everyone is on their own. Buyer beware.

Drama said...

lame! fully understandable, but lame!

Kal Vilmer said...

I don't know if you all have seen this if so sorry for re-posting

For LOST fans: Search http://www.kayak.com/flights for Sydney to LAX one-way non-stop on 9/22/2010.

ChrisL said...

Ben, I'm going to have to ensure I see it on Wed somehow so I can share the joy with our US friends.

Chris, I've changed my work shifts to give me Wednesday's off, starting next week ;)

Lisa-Maladylis said...

Ben yes, Disney does and will put a stop to sales that they think are infringing on there rights. Trust me, I have first hand knowledge since they sent me a cease and desist letter as well, for something I made. I was going to buy a Charlie print :-(

kiwilostie said...

ChrisL, yes me too! Were going to be 3 weeks behind. That = no internet. Cant happen. Just have to find a solution, like mp4!...

Zort70 said...

I've put the Methane Studios info in a NEW POST

Patmc said...

Doesn't Disney have a friendly agreement with CafePress? Can you sell anything other than T-Shirts there? It might be a good way to stay on ABC's good side...

I'm going to have to dig up the new agreement they just made...
