Following Olly Moss 470

Olly Moss sold Locke's Secret today via a Twitter post. The first commenter on this was Limbofunk at 11:50 PM, followed by Olly himself seconds later.
The address was ollymoss.com/4815162342.html.

Olly dropped by in the comments, explained how Chris lost his blood, and told us this: I would love to get it out of the way now (I've still got so much to pack before tomorrow!) but I want to release it at a time that UK and US peeps have an equal chance to nab it. Some enterprising dude already discovered the secret URL and got one already, but I've removed the page from the server so there'll be no more monkey business. Then he added three hours should be fine as long as you're able to get to a computer quickly... Also - there's another cool element of this sale that I think people will dig but I'm keeping it a surprise! Asked by Jason about watching Lost, Olly said: I am such a massive lost fan, this project was a massive surprise and honour. Especially since it's my first ever print release! So, good luck to Olly with this exciting release and his move to California tomorrow!

That was that. Congratulations to the lucky 40.
Don't forget Smokey tomorrow, 2pm CST.

In Other news, Anne posted her pictures from the Gallery 1988 event as a flickr set here: Gallery 1988 photos!!!

So tired... Been trying to find the Indiana Jones print for days.

Absolutely gutted.

soooo excited!

capostar said...

i think i got one, but selected the UK shipping by accident. I hope I don't get disqualified. I emailed Olly to tell him I'd pay that 15 bucks plus a little extra for my error

Eugene said...

Up all night and nada. If anyone decides they don't want it let me know. Did you all see the Locke sold out picture? Very funny!

Steve said...

this was by far the one that I wanted the most. Oh well, I guess I'll have to try ebay for one. Will trade smokey+cash or Rousseau + cash for one

Scott said...

8:50:11 for mine. (Well 3:50:11AM my time anyway)

Unknown said...

Well... staying up all night until 7:30 AM and getting those 2+ hours of powersleep is now worth it. Whew... that was a tense 12+hours of waiting!

blog bloggy blogger said...

Olly! Thanks for making this so much fun! I didn't get one. ;( That's okay, since my wife won't kill me now for spending the $. Love the sold out screen btw.

Congrats to the lucky!
Guess I'll try for Eric's print next - whenever that might go up.

Amy Lynn said...

I wonder if there's any way to know if there was an oversell.

Will said...

Ouch, missed out by seconds. I got the sold out notice as I tried to change my payment type in Paypal. Mega bummer.

Limbofunk said...

@capostar Yeah, I just realized I did that with shipping as well :-/

what are the 'random gifts' all about? i didnt even look at the page beyond the 'buy now' button!

Steve said...

@olly if you didn't sell the one with the blood on it, I'll buy that one.

back to work to be pissed off all day, hopefully i dont have to deal with any clients

capostar said...

email him limbofunk. I used his email from my paypal receipt.

John-Paul said...

I can't even describe how upset I am right now. And to top it all off, well before this poster series was ever around I was a HUGE fan of his red and black movie poster series and he throws them in the mix to make me wanna cry even more.

ObFuSc8 said...

Ray -- the other thing was one of Olly's black and white movie posters sent to 3 random buyers. You can check them out on his website or flickr.

Eugene said...

Congratulations to those who got it! And thanks to Olly!

Scott said...

Sold out picture was really awesome as well. Sorry to everyone who missed out. Getting one of 40 was always going to be worse than getting one of 200 and I'm not so sure there was that many less people trying, at least compared to when this poster came out at the beginning anyway.

Drama said...

@steve joing the queue... I offered to buy that one yesterday on twitter...

Ray said...

It seems like this thing shut down when it was supposed to. I wouldn't be too worried about an oversell. Its so crazy how everyones transactions were a millisecond apart!

Limbofunk said...

@Jeffrey
My payment went through 08:49:55 PST...does the item number mean anything, or do they all say 0001?

mtutick said...

Earliest I see reported is 08:49:52 with the latest being 08:50:12 (mine...uh-oh). Took 20 seconds

Team Jack said...

That really bums me out. If I hadn't taken the time to select the correct drop down for shipping, I would have had one as well as it only denied me at the very end page. Meh. That royally sucks.

Steve said...

i think 0001 is just the item number, so Locke is 0001 and if he had been selling something else it would have been 0002

Scott said...

@limbofunk they all say 0001.. well mine does as well anyhow.

Jesse! Rikkitik said...

@limbofunk Mine says item#0001 as well. How are you seeing the seconds on your confirm time/whatnot

Lisa-Maladylis said...

@ Amy Lynn, you should get a email in the paypal info where you can send him a note with the correct addy.

Ray said...

Yeah #0001 is the item number. The precise time is listed at the top right of your paypal receipt, above your transaction ID

The funny thing is that I'm not sure what I'm more upset about. Missing Locke's Secret or missing those three "Film in Black and Red" prints that I've been searchign where to buy for days.

Martyn said...

Sods law it sells out when I go inside back to work. Oh well, only wanted it to trade for wk so no biggy. Kinda annoying I have a useless sister though but still...

Unknown said...

Mine was 08:50:12 PST and got CANCELLED. Paypal oversold 9.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

lolol @Martyn hope she doesn't read here lol

Unknown said...

Oh man... I feel horrible for anyone who gets a cancel notice and now I'm really hoping I survive it...

mtutick said...

@Marc - I have an 08:50:12 also, and no cancellation yet. Was it just an email?

ObFuSc8 said...

Here are the 3 Films in Black and Red redesigned movie poster that were the surprises:

Die Hard

Indy

The Deer Hunter

Amy Lynn said...

@Marc, how do you know they oversold 9?

futureself said...

Jason, I could be wrong but I think Olly wrote in the giveaway section that the film in black and red prints haven't been released yet...implying that he will be releasing them in the future?

Unknown said...

I would be willing to trade two prints or one of the following + $250 for Locke's Secret.

The Numbers
The Love Triangle
The Swan Station
The Polar Bear

If you are interested, please email me at ajlim2005@hotmail.com

Thanks

Team Jack said...

Wow, it looks like the only people that got through were people who wanted the poster. Dude, it's the numbers, they totally passed on Hurley's curse to me! ;P Well now that it's too late to go to class and I'm sleep deprived from staying up all night, I think I'll go lay on the couch and stuff my face with Mr. Clucks. I mean if you're gonna go, chicken's the way, right? lol Note to self: get curse removed before Tan drops print.

Oh yeah, and if there is an island miracle and someone has an extra... let me know. I don't have any prints to trade, but... I do have an extra Locke shirt and I might be able to dig up some other stuff as well. I do go to Comic Con every year so I have bags of stuff stashed away still, all the way back to I think 2003. I know I have the original poster they gave away in 2004 and I'm pretty sure I have the Oceanic Airlines luggage tag. If you have those I also have stuff from all sorts of different movies/TV shows, etc. as well. Plus, you would have my undying gratitude! :D Let me know... slytheringirl74 at gmail dot com.

It's been FAST!

Hi!

All that trying and I finally got one! I was late too. I mistyped my password at paypal, but managed on the second attempt. I hope that doesn't put me in the "oversold" crowd.

Nicole said...

OmG I can't believe it. I got the one I have been dying over. I am a huge Saul Bass fan and love that this poster pays some homage to that. Plus it's LOCKE. I hadn't found out about these posters until the day before the gallery show opening. In my panicked fury I bought a print off ebay just so I could have one of the coveted posters. But since I got the one I wanted most I have Nate Duvals the Barracks if anyone would really like it. I live in Canada. My email is sryksen@shaw.ca if your interested. BTW what would you guys feel would be a fair price?

Chrcowan said...

@marc...how do you know (gulp)?

Unknown said...

Olly sent me and the other 8 an email. mtutick check your email.

Martyn said...

@lisa...

No she doesn't read here. But for good measure. I'll tell her so when I get home. She said she was staying in to do revision and guess what? Misses the post man with my polar bear print to go play in the snow with friends. Argh!!!

Unknown said...

To clarify, he sent one email (associated to our paypal) to all 9of us who got the cancellation.

If you didn't get the email now, you are safe. Good job.

Unknown said...

Dangit, I sleep in and miss all the fun. Guess all I have to contribute to this discussion now is lol @ Chris' blood.

Also Jacob's Cabin FINALLY came back from the framers. Pictures once I get back to my camera.

Olly said...

Sorry about the oversell. It's a major bummer. I thought paypal would be OK but the number of people trying in so short a time must have broken it. All oversold refunds have been issued and the names have been placed on a waiting list for something cool!

Lisa-Maladylis said...

how dare she @Martyn !! she should know that isn't allowed at all. ! Hope you can get it tomorrow.

Nothing you could do about it Olly, so no need to be sorry. Thanks for giving all of us (~3,000) a fair second shot.

Amy Lynn said...

Olly, you are super awesome fantastic.

ChrisL said...

Olly, I've never known Paypal suffer from an oversell which just goes to show how incredible the reaction to your print was. Thank you for coming on to let us know. I haven't checked my emails yet however...!!!

Unknown said...

Aw, I missed it. I wasn't going to buy one - or not to keep for myself, anyway - but would have liked to watch it go down. Sorry to those who didn't get one! That's the trouble with LE items.

@maven and anyone else who'd like to use pics of mine for Facebook/etc: no worries! Feel free :) Just nobody be naughty and try to use any art images for your own purposes. I doubt it would be anyone here, but that's why a few got a watermark.

Also if any Flickr users would like to help me tag the Showdowns with character names - I got tired x.x

@Team Jack - I'm planning to keep an eye on Tan for those who have to work, though I may not catch it. And hey, guess I might see you at SDCC this year, huh? Wondering if they really won't do any sort of LOST panel or will cave and do it anyway.

@Martyn - from prev. post but, I thought the most pirated show (outside the UK anyhow?) was Top Gear ;) (Added to those stats)

The Blot said...

@Olly - Great sale today, and that's very cool of you to look out for the over-sales! Here's hoping I'm not one of the unlucky 9. My email's been super slow today so you just never know.

Otherwise...w00t! I finally got the one print I really wanted.

Unknown said...

Like marc said, there's no need to be sorry. There was no way to keep all of us satisfied. Thanks for everything and keep up with the good work!

The Blot said...

I also wanted to add how cool it is for Olly to come by LostARGs and interact with the fans! This has been such a wonderful experience.

Just 4 weeks til new LOST!

Amy Lynn said...

Much condolences to the "Tail Section 9"

ObFuSc8 said...

Olly -- thanks again for stopping by. A bit of an oversell may have been inevitable. Even paypal can't handle that kind of traffic.

Do you have an idea of how many people tried to buy in that 20 or so seconds?

Cool of you to stop by and put those those who were oversold on a waiting list for more surprises.

Unknown said...

@ Olly...

Thanks for letting me know I had some time for a powernap. I'm still running on fumes, but its better than the alternative :)

Unknown said...

It's a good surprise! ;) And hopefully lightning can strike twice and I can be high on that waiting list.

Amy Lynn said...

After a 177 and 268, I'm thrilled to finally have a low print number, LOL

Unknown said...

Thanks to a dear friend, I was able to get a copy. So completely euphoric right now. And Olly, thanks again for everything, and putting the nine oversells on a list for the future just reaffirms you really are a stand-up guy. Good luck with the travels, and I look forward to your future projects.

Sandman90 said...

Appear to be one of the lucky ones here but the international shipping was not charged to my account. I hit it and the pay now button in rapid succession is all I can figure out. Love this poster and don't want this glitch to get in the way. Advice?

futureself said...

Sandman - Email Olly to say you weren't charged the shipping and arrange to pay via paypal.

ObFuSc8 said...

Sandman90 -- email Olly now. You can send an extra $15 dollars to the email the $200 went to -- it'll be on the paypal receipt.

ObFuSc8 said...

You can send an extra $15 through paypal to the same email...email me if you have a problem and I will help you.

Steve said...

I think Dan McCarthy's print oversold through paypal the other day too.

Eugene said...

And I think the Dharma Van did yesterday.

Anonymous said...

Obviously I'll try for The Crash, but if I don't get it, has anyone got one to trade?

Amy Lynn said...

If anyone's looking for a Swan, there's on on EBay for 99 cents.

ObFuSc8 said...

Amy Lynn -- seriously? That must just be a starting bid.

Rob Jones will probably never get around to selling his anyway. Well maybe not until 2013 or so.

Unknown said...

that Swan won't end at 99 cents...

maven said...

Hi, Zort...I hear Florida is having freezing weather...hope you guys can warm it up! What a frustrating flight that must have been!

So cool, Olly, that you really care about the fans and kept everyone up-to-date as best you could. I proudly own the t-shirt version (I was at Gallery1988), and I treasure it. Thanks for posting at LostArgs!

Zort70 said...

Polar Beer T-shirt and fleece as it is colder than usual in Florida.

I'm now off to sit in the hot tub which is steaming away as I type.

Yes I've seen the crazyness, and I thought it was getting quieter !

Eugene said...

Hi Zort, I heard that it was cold in Florida. Enjoy the tubbie!

Zort70 said...

Not exactly freezing, but not exactly shorts weather.

Joey said...

Damn I missed this one also! I am super slacking on these :-(

Olly - If you are still around, I found out in the middle of the Lost art project that an awesome Zombie shirt I bought was made by you! Made me want your print that much more! :-) Good work man!

ObFuSc8 said...

Hi Zort! Hot tub is the way to go.

Limbofunk said...

Just don't keep switching between the hottub and pool: I did that when I was much younger and remember getting horrible blisters on my feet.

ObFuSc8 said...

Nothing yet -- Eric Tan posted on his blog that he's swamped with work for the next couple weeks and has a deadline.

From his blog:

The good news is, I do have a few posters left for sale! The bad news is, I have a ridiculously crazy deadline this month that will keep me from getting the posters into tubes and out to you right away. The usual 9 to 5 job is actually more like 8 to 9 these days and I hope you guys understand and bear with me at least for the next couple of weeks. I assure you that I will post a date, time, and web address on my blog once I get everything sorted. Thanks to all those who've dropped me a line and contact info. Unfortunately, I've received more requests than posters available so instead of leaving anyone out, I thought I'd sell on a 1st come, 1st served basis like many of the other artists have. Sorry there are not enough to go around. I collect a lot of things myself and I know that crappy feeling when I miss out on something I really like, or something that simply completes the series. Just check back in every now and then and I'll do my best to get you "The Crash". I do appreciate your patience in all this.

Joey said...

Amy- I saw that but he doesn't say much about when does he? lol

hobbit said...

Hi all, back to teaching so I've been scarce, but are we all aware of the now ended auction on ebay for all the posters plus some of the bonus first order items and a DCAAPB print? The one for $30,000?

Sandman90 said...

Just got my shipping payment issue worked out. Emailed Olly and he said just to send him (via paypal) the additional shipping money as a seperate payment and he would sort it out. Finally did it after paypal initially was blocking additional money payments to the same email on the same day. Had to link to a bank account to get around it (*nervous laughter*). Olly was very gracious and I appreciate his patience on this issue. Hooray! I got Locke's Secret - the piece that really hooked me on the print series. I'm a happy man today in spite of the snow.

The Kharma Initiative said...

MItch from www.postersandtoys.com posted this comment just a little while ago but on an earlier post (the Smokey Thursday one) so I'm reposting here since most people would miss it otherwise:

"OMG Mitch said...

Hey guys, I hear there are some rumors going around, so let me clear them up.

The 300 Ken Taylor Smoke Monster prints were ALL stamped/numbered, rather than signed. The shipping to Australia was too much of a risk, those boxes were HEAVY. The ones that go up for sale tomorrow are the exact same as the ones that were released through ABC, he just happens to have a damn good stamp that looks like they are signed.

Secondly, there is some rumor going around that the colors are different on the ones coming out tomorrow? Not true, they are the exact same, in the same edition, and printed at the same time as the ABC ones.

Hopefully that clears up some of the weird rumors going around."

Thanks Chris...I thought a lot of the bonus stuff seemed familiar. It's cool that he put out a heads up, but a shame that he had to put the prints up for sale in the first place.

Right, off home now. Today was ridiculous, literally a minute after I went in from the cold with my freezing cold hands and it's on sale. I only looked because a mate asked to see if he's train had been cancelled.

Anyway, it's allowed me to slot in that little bit of common sense back in to place and realise I have all the posters I want and I'm just working my way down my desirables and I get each one I want. Lusted after the swan for ages, got it and now I want walt's kidnapping. I don't think drew is planning on selling it anytime soon so I'm just going to sit back now and enjoy the chaos.

Congrats to all that got the print, love the fact that it seems to have primarily gone to fans and the flippers seem to have stayed clear. Thanks olly for helping us out on this one, greatly aprreciated. And I now have feeling in my right hand again so all is good.

Lisa, will pick polar bear up from post office on Friday, only to go back inside a minute later to ship off to the us.

Cheers for the eBay links and sorry for the double post, it won't let me delte one for some reason.

Anyway, i'm torn between going and splashing out on a walt's kidnapping or really splashing out on this

I can get it for $135 with postage, which is a lot considering it was $25 to begin with or if your mate is willing to take it off eBay, Chrcowan, i'll buy it off him for $150 odd but somehow I don't think he'll go for that.

Decisions, decisions.

ChrisL, looks like the girlfriend can't be convinced so i'll have to turn down your offer i'm afraid. Really appreciate it though, I agree with Amy's sentiments the other day, you are awesome!

Amy Lynn said...

@Martyn... that's an awesome print. For the record, Walt's Kidnapping is really wonderful. The first time that I saw it int he middle of the night, I gasped at how cool the illusion is.

ChrisL said...

No worries Martyn. That Ryan Milner is pretty cool.

Martyn said...

In an ideal world, i'd have both but i'm not sure. The Dark Knight was/is my favourite film, saw it 4 times in imax, which obviously cost a bit.

I think this one is going to come down to the flip of a coin, especially as there is more chance of one than the other.

ChrisL said...

You could have got WK AND The Milner for the price of 4 trips to the IMAX!

Martyn said...

lol, I was still a student back then so a marginal discount was in place.

Joey said...

Dark Knight in IMAX mmmmmm good times :-)

Joey said...

lol I remember going to see I Am Legend in IMAX just because they previewed the first 5 minutes of Dark Knight in IMAX. I also remember those 5 minutes being a shitton better than I am Legend hahaha

Martyn said...

lmao, I will always remember the first time I went to see it, loads of people in their Batman shirts, me included of course, I think it was the first day of release too. The titles have come on and then the first seen of the green glass building fills the screen and the entire audience just "oooo"s together. Was an amazing moment from an amazing film. And there was me thinking it'd let me down like Spiderman 3 did.

Dr. Bradley said...

Got no sleep over this one. I think I woke up every hour or so between half sleeps. Shot to work early, and refreshed for hours. Was completely worth it! Thanks Olly! Didn't even have a chance to read about the surprises. What were they? Does anyone know?

maven said...

Not to worry anyone...and no date has been determined yet....But people are tweeting a #NoStateoftheUnionFeb2 topic! A nightmare scenario! Apparently, Pres. Obama is awaiting a decision on a date until the health bill is passed. It's traditionally held in Jan.

Congrats to those lucky few who scored a print today. I'm struck by what a gentleman Olly has been during all of this. A talented individual and a great guy, arranging this the day before a big move he is making. Best of luck to you, Olly!

BTW, there's an interesting backstory those stunning black and red movie 'bonus' prints, that he shared on EB a while back. I'll try to dig it up and re-post here later...

What is nostateofunion? I'm getting very confused right now

I met with Jay Ryan at Christmas. He has already given his 50 out to subscribers.

By Olly , on EB, regarding the Die Hard and Deer Hunter prints(two of the three surprise bonuses today) :

Post by Olly on Fri Dec 18, 2009 1:45 am

"In fact, the only prints I've ever made are the A Life Well Wasted ones and the Lost one.

These were supposed to be out this week but most of them were destroyed in transit from the UK to the states. I think we'll have to do a reprint next year :( "

You can see a photo of them here ,in the thread that he posted in over there.

Martyn, Top Gear came out as the UK's favourite TV show of the 'noughties', beating Doctor Who, Lost, Life on Mars, 24, and all the shows I like. I hate Top Gear - but not as much as I hate Clarkson...Grrrrr!

Patmc said...

@Martyn - Sorry... for the non-US folks here... the White House in thinking about scheduling the annual "State of the Union" presidential address on February 2nd. Unfortunately, this would most likely preempt the premiere of LOST!

So all the LOST fans who have a Twitter account are trying to show their displeasure, by sending Tweets that are tagged with #NoStateOfUnionFeb2. Twitter keeps an eye out for anything starting with a "#"... and if it sees enough of them, it becomes a "trending topic". You can kind of get a pulse for what is happening in the world in real-time, by looking at Twitter trending topics.

We're trying to gently coax the White House into picking a different day... or at the very least, to let ABC know we would prefer to watch LOST, rather than a boring presidential speech. :-)

Patmc *Gasp* How dare they?

Still, it may well be part of their plan. No matter what the state of the union is in, the nation will get a sublime shot of Lost to make them forget all worries. It's a brave new world ;)

Patmc said...

And I'm pretty sure that the president would have at least 11 million very hostile viewers watching the speech... probably not the best idea to alienate an audience BEFORE you even give the speech...

futureself said...

But the speech wouldn't be at the same time as Lost so Lost could still be shown on the 2nd couldn't it?

Or am I missing something?

Amy Lynn said...

@futureself... the SOTU usually runs a few hours starting at 8pm. LOST is scheduled 8-11pm that night.

Don't Mess With This Guy

futureself said...

Ah crap! Okay, so I understand the drama of this now!

Obama must be stopped! Well us Ukers could try and start a war to distract them all for a bit but that might be going a bit too radical, even for Lost ;)

Patmc said...

@futureself - Could you maybe just talk the UK into declaring war on the US... just for a few hours? Ah, never mind... the news coverage of THAT would probably bump LOST too. ;-)

Tess315 said...

lol Patmc

futureself said...

Doh! I really didn't think it through did I?

Well perhaps we just need to campaign for Lost to be rescheduled to the 1st?

Boo! Obama isn't a Lost fan? Your leader really need to get his priorities right :D

Patmc said...

@futureself - I have a better idea. How about rescheduling the speech for a more appropriate time? Something like 3am on a Sunday morning... :-)

I mean, come on! Anyone who would mess with the LOST premiere is clearly an un-American Communist/Marxist/Anarchist/Nazi/Taliban extremist (did I leave any out?)... and is clearly unfit to govern our country! ;D

LT- that picture might do it! Or maybe just a polite pretty please.

Well, I realize from today that I just am not going to be able to zip through an order in 10 seconds or less. I was staring at the twitter screen, f5d it to be sure and there it was. I swear I only fumbled around to get to the buy now for about 10 seconds- and then it was sold out.

It's Jacob's Cabin that I really want- but if I don't get it, I was noticing today how beautiful the skeleton trees are against the dusk sky , with the house lights just starting to shine. I used to only see them as an indication that I was going to freeze getting out of the car. I think it is looking at Dan McCarthy and Daniel Dangers' work that is making me look closer at the way different trees spread their branches and stoop or stand upright. So I've got a new view of things, even if no poster.

Patmc said...

The perfect new TV set for the new season of LOST!

The best TV for LOST watching

comixguru said...

Patmc- that is so cute! if only it were at least 40"....

Daniel Danger and Dan McCarthy are the kings of trees.I have one of each (non lost) in my study and they look stunning.

Check out some of Dans glow in the darks too. They look billiant on a contemporary wall.

Jay Ryans speciality is mammals. I think his Polar Bear is very underated, simply because its a lesser "water cooler" moment. When you see it in the flesh, its a great piece.

In fact, looking at the favourite print poll, its tends to be led less by artistic merit and more by "epicness" of lost.

But if it raises the artists profile, its all good.

futureself said...

Patmc - I think you left out the French ;)

Love the Polar Bear Tv! It would make my daughter go totally mental!!

Martyn said...

Ok, now I get all the tweets. I hate tweeting, I tweeted earlier today to try and urge olly moss to sell the posters but it didn't work. Maybe it did cus it went on sale a minute after I finished my lunch. Anyway, i'll tweet away nostateoftheunion every so often for you.

Knowing me, Martyn Graham, Knowing you, futureself, aha...

Top Gear beat Life On Mars???? I love top gear but life on mars just kicks ass on so many levels it's untrue! and it beat LOST? Well, personally, I don't think Lost is as big over here anyway, barely anyone I know watches it.

And what about Spaced? Oh wait, that may of been in the 90's.

maven said...

@Martyn and others: Sorry I posted that about the State of the Union assuming everyone knew what it was...how arrogantly American of me!

I would think ABC would be forced to push back the premiere if the Feb 2nd date is chosen. It wouldn't effect the west coast, but these things always drag over and the stupid pundits wouldn't get off the air!

Martyn said...

LMAO at futureself, the french, it's funny because it's true

Martyn said...

Hahaha, Thorsten's I once was lost... poster won the EB Art of the Week 01/06/10 award.

Congratulations Thorsten.

Here is a link to it's page (http://www.expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/115444) but it's on the homepage on the top right corner.

Little OT about trading.

I'm SEARCHING for SMOKEY, HATCH, BEN or DHARMA VAN.

I may trade with Jacob's Cabin, 4ToedStatue or Love Triangle.

If interested, email at dvdbos at gmailllllllll dot com.

Thanks.

maven said...

Wow, big congrats to Thorsten! Well-deserved!

futureself said...

Aha!!!

A partridge amongst the pigeons indeed :D

spaced was 1999 to 2001 so probably didn't count.

One of my favourite Spaced Quotes (for those not familiar the scene is a little boy trying to buy a JarJar Binks toy at the comic book shop Simon Pegg works at:

You are so blind! You so do not understand! You weren't there at the beginning. You dont know how good it was! How important! This is it for you! This jumped-up firework display of a toy advert! People like you make me sick! Whats wrong with you?

Now, I dont care if youve saved up all your fifty pees, take your pocket money and get out!

*Little boy runs off crying*

What a prick!

:D

futureself said...

Congrats Thorsten! You are a giant amongst Expresso Beans :D

Martyn said...

Lmao, futureself, I like you. A LOT!

I watched Spaced so much that the discs don't work anymore. There's so many brilliant quotes, it's hard to choose one. It's not a quote but the gun fight with the chavs is my all time favourite scene of anything. Spot on brilliant!

You know what, going to watch it now and come back to you.

Patmc said...

@Thorsten - That's awesome! Congrats... it is absolutely deserved!

Speaking of "Once was Lost"... I don't suppose anyone knows if it ever found it's way to a wall in the Holy of Holys (ie. the Lost writers room)? Maybe we could bribe @Comixguru to find out...? Maybe some Pink's Hot Dogs...? LOL!

futureself said...

lol Martyn, that's a great episode!

I especially like the ending:

Brian: Chaos Theory!
Tim: Eh?
Brian: The predictability of random events. The notion that reality as we know it, past, present and future is actually a mathematically predictable preordained system.
Daisy: So somewhere out their in the vastness of the unknown is an equation... for predicting the future!
Brian: An equation so complex as to utterly defy any possibility of comprehension by even the most brilliant human mind, but an equation nonetheless.
Tim: Oh my God!
Brian: What?
Tim: I've got some fucking Jaffa Cakes in my coat pocket!

:D

comixguru said...

woohoo! congrats, Thorsten!!!! :)

Martyn said...

That's it!!! That's my favourite quote. Said it the other day and my girlfriend got it but no one else did though. No one else did. I think the best bits are visual. Just watching episode one and the opening scene cracks me up every time.

Tim: I don't know what I did wrong. Is there someone else?

Daisy: Sort of.

Tim: What? Who?

Daisy: My boyfriend.

Tim: That BASTARD!!!

Brilliant stuff.

futureself said...

:D Martyn!

On a different note I received my archived Daniel Danger Ghost Ship today:

It's not in the right frame (sorry Dan McCarthy but RT's been displaced for a bit until I get Ghost Ship sorted) but I'm in love with this print :)

Awesome Thorsten! It's a lovely episode. Baked Alaska is just right to counteract the emotional beauty of it too :)

I cannot believe i got one. I never get anything. I never got a poster from the dacpb campaign. And now I got my favorite.

This is not to brag at all, cause I can relate to disappointment and anger.

Belated thank yous to Josh who even dared to ask Olly how much sleep he should get, and Olly for even dropping the hint (for all). Would not have gotten it today without this assist.
