Frame 9 Clue 3 - Polo Life, Thursday 164

The third clue is posted on the hub page :

It just so happens that 88-Keys has a blog entitled "I Heart My Polo Lifestyle". 88-Keys is also a big fan of Raplh Lauren clothing which is where the Polo player logo comes from.

Thanks to Colleen for telling us first about the new clue and (n) for telling us about the blog.

So where does the logo on the clue come from ?

Zort70 said...

Is it just a reference to the clothing line from Ralph Lauren which 88-Keys seems to be into ?

Congested said...

"Is it just a reference to the clothing line from Ralph Lauren which 88-Keys seems to be into ?"

That's what I make of it. Or in language you can understand, Zort, I've derived the same from what we've seen. :)

Not sure the logo matters much, though it would be nice to know where exactly this version of it came from.

As I said before I'm thinking live show this week at a small venue.

Zort70 said...

I'd even be willing to narrow that down to Thursday this week :-)

Anonymous said...

Well, the 88 keys site says they have a charity art walk happening Thursday. The first clue was a picture of two feet. Perhaps?

you guys are brilliant!

Zort70 said...

Anon, where does it say that ? I've missed that completely.

Ted said...

Cloeset thing I could find to anon's suggestion was this, a charity art walk that happened Thursday October 1 at the 88 Keys dueling piano bar in Seattle.

Zort70 said...

Ah, different 88 Keys, I was looking on the Musician 88-Keys website.

Anonymous said...

looks like its going to be an in-store event by the 88-keys at an apple store, only problem is there material probably isnt suited to an all ages event

Zort70 said...

Yes the content isn't very family friendly, but remember the Bardot reveal was an over 18 event so they may just say over 18 only again.

Anonymous said...

Well the Oaks got cut down, I sure am stumped.
Piano,Podcast and Polo are together lumped.
This frame is thru camera obscura
I can't make it any cleara...

..burma..yes I get up this early to go to work,, shave...MEL

Tess315 said...

Maybe 88-keys will post audio/video on his blog Thursday.

possibly sayid's girl but i really do think that the apple mac is important, or why bother using the image

If you notice there is an open mic comedy night, for women only, from 6pm to 8pm at 88-Keys. This would fit with the first clue since, literally speaking, if Adam died it would be only women, or woman.

Zort70 said...

Has anyone looked for an event at a Ralph Lauren store ?

thorsten said...

Just fished a letter from german customs out of my mailbox. Looks like they intercepted 'the statue', now they want an explanation, hehe.

Tess315 said...

All these clues have come late at night or very early in the morning (for me in eastern time) I hope the url doesn't come out at 2am for me.

Zort70 said...

Unless they do another event like in Argentina I would assume the next clue will give the time for later in the day, possibly late morning / early afternoon Eastern as I'm also assuming for the moment that this is going to be in New York

Unknown said...

I just noticed that this is not the actual Ralph Lauren logo. The actual logo has the polo stick (mallet?) raised up, but here it's down. Maybe we're looking for an actual polo club?

There is a "Polo Life" website and facebook page, but that's based in Miami, and I don't see any upcoming events.

Zort70 said...

There is still quite a lot of mystery surrounding this clue.

MJCarp said...

I'm deriving a cup of joe and will now go to work (on the clue).

I think we're looking at cyber drop. Interesting that two of the clue went middle of the night in the states. 'Bout 8 a.m. for EU?

Twitter: eightyocho

Clandestine T-shirt
Maybe it's a new t-shirt design

MJCarp said...

here he is talking about RLauren

Amy Lynn said...

OK, so I think we can rule out Seattle now and focus on 88-Keys the rapper, at least.

Anonymous said...

Ok so here we go. I am 100% positive the link will be revealed on 88-Keys blog tomorrow. Here's why:

1) Amy Lynn is absolutely correct. I know many of you may not be Rap followers or have been offended by the content on The Death of Adam, but considering the source of the 1st clue I think we can definitely give up on the Seattle club having anything to do with this. Please stop posting info related to that place; the clue had to do with an album called "The Death of Adam," that was made by a Hip-Hop artist named 88-Keys. What about that line of logic then connects to the nightclub, except the name. If that were the true connection, then the clue itself would make no sense.

2) I think the newest clue confirms that the reveal will take place on 88-Keys' blog (BTW - 88-Keys is one person, not a group). Why do I think this? First, as Zort pointed out, the language of the clue - 'Polo Life.' Second, the issue with the logo Zort noticed: it's not the real Ralph Lauren Polo logo. It's probably a faux logo b/c ABC couldnt get the rights to use the real one, esp. when it's in relation to a blog that Ralph Lauren doesn't legally/officially recognize or support. Third, I think it's very plausible for the reveal to only be online. Not all the reveals have been at events or physical locations, i.e. Frame 3.

Finally, slightly on another note, I also agree with everyone pointing out the importance of the MacBook clue. It struck me today though that the clue may have been the microphone that was super-imposed. A Mic is the number one tool of an "MC," or hip-hop artist. If the URL is revealed on-line rather than an event, then you would have to be in front of a computer to see it, i.e. the computer is just to hint that the reveal will be on-line.

Guess we'll find out tomorrow. But anyone who plans on going to Seattle for that event at the 88-keys night club...well...let's just say i hope you have a Poster Buddy.

Tess315 said...

I think the reason everyone took the 88 keys piano club as a possiblity was because when they searched 88-keys the artist they couldn't come up with anything current happening with him.

So they were looking for possible alternatives.
Until the mic and laptop clue we really didn't know where to look.

Then with today's clue we pretty much know where to be Thursday.

MJCarp said...

Thanks Charles. It's been clear from the beginning. Clandestine is the "key" for many of the reveals we should always look for that connection when possible.

In the world of LOST we have fate/destiny/free will etc. It's my choice to turn off and tune out vulgar content. So this week has been difficult to enjoy as much of our 'hunting' has taken me to sites with content of this nature. And there's doesn't seem to be any connection to our ARG or LOST. Maybe this will become clear with the reveal.

That said my teenage son (again) thinks this is 'cool' blah, blah, blah. *slinking off to color the gray hair*

Now can we focus on Mr. Lindelof's visit to LA today? Anyone going to the event? I would love to Twitter follow and see photos!

Zort70 said...

You give me too much credit Charles. it was Waffle that pointed out it wasn't the normal RL logo.

I agree that Seattle is out of the running, don't give up hope in Seattle your time may come !

Amy Lynn said...

Actually, one of the things I like about LOST is that it never shies away from vulgar content. It isn't by any means a family show.

reAnimated said...

Wow, late to the party today. And crud, tomorrow is the lady's bday. May need a poster buddy.

Capcom said...

LOL Lottery.

Interesting points Charles.

I think that the Lost PTBs have done a fairly good job of finding a balance between keeping the show "wholesome" or clean as a family show, and, as whatever is on the other end of the spectrum that is allowed on network TV (which is much more extreme than Lost). Lost actually was somewhat promoted as a family show in the early days, and early polls put it at the top of the list as one of the shows most viewed by families. I think that we had a thread on that somewhere on TLC a couple years ago.

Anyway, while the content of the hiatus activities doesn't need to follow network TV censorship, I also think that TPTB have done a good job keeping a balance during the hiatus as well. It would not serve them to put off the more parochial, if you will, or conservative (with a little-c) fans who TPTB are aware constitute a large amount of the Lost demographic. :-)

Eugene said...

The polo logo likes a lot like the mirror image of the logo on this site.

http://www.ridetothrive.org/
Since that event happened last weekend I don't think it has anything to do with Thursday's reveal but it might be where TPTB got the image.

AndySchex said...

Good catch eugene. I think that's the logo.

Capcom said...

I guess it all depends on how one pronounces Phukett, Mel, heheh. :o)

Interesting Eugene, and it would be nice of TPTB to draw attention to that. BTW, did you see the advert logo at the bottom among the other ones? "Gold Dog Communications" http://www.golddogcommunications.com

Capcom said...

P.S. Gold Dog Coms reminded me of Retrievers Of Truth from TLE. :o)

Congested said...

Wait, where did Harlem come into this? The only thing I recall is an old tweet from 88-Keys about playing some new Kanye West tracks while driving around Harlem... and that's not pointing us to Harlem for the clue reveal imo.

I like Charles's thinking about the blog. But I'm still putting my money on a show.

The way I read the MacBook Pro clue is that the guy is a producer/rapper hence the mac/microphone. Macs are used widely in the music industry for production, as many of you know I'm guessing, including rap music. So the mac represents him as a producer, the mic as a rapper.

The latest clue was probably done to help narrow down who this is for people who haven't figured it out yet.

Just my thoughts, obviously I could be wrong. :/

Amy Lynn said...

Just that he blogs/records in Harlem.

comixguru said...

I will try to go to Earth-2 Comics tonight. I love me some Damon and love me some comic books. :)

Congested said...

Ah okay Amy, thank you. Perhaps he lives somewhere in Harlem.

Congested said...

I will say that Harlem would be a lot easier for me than Wall Street (I'm nearby in northern Manhattan) but I doubt there will be a show/reveal in Harlem vs. somewhere downtown.

Also, sorry to keep bashing the idea of the reveal being on the blog, (well I guess not THAT sorry since I'm doing it lol) but if that was the case it would probably be the lamest reveal yet, paralleling with the Attack of the Show reveal.

They've got a rapper on board with this thing, it just seems to be more in line with what they've been doing to do the reveal at a show.

Also he doesn't post on the blog that frequently, and when he does it seems to be pretty focused on him, and his music. A lost poster URL reveal would be a bit out of place on his blog imo.

Good point, should we not have the info as to where it is or when it's happening or what it is?

Tbh, lack of info at this time seems to prove that it may be a blog reveal.

AndySchex said...

More evidence that the reveal is the blog and not an event: looking at the source of 88 Keys blog (http://polo67life.com/), there are several URLs that refer to http://pololife.wordpress.com. Going to that site redirects you to http://polo67life.com/.

Tess315 said...

Yay maven!
I'm thinking we'll get a clue tonight on the time.

The clues on the reveal have come between 8:00pm and 2:30am (eastern) so there is still time for another clue before tomorrow. I just hope the url isn't given out at 2:30am my time.

Ginger said...

My Hatch says "shipped" as well Maven! YAAAAAAA!

The long wait for the poster has allowed me to come to my senses in the fact I can't afford all these awesome posters so I'm saving the one last poster my gf would allow me to buy for that mysterious red ?. Will print the posters off on to photo paper as a substitue. I'm guessing the red ? will be the best out of all them. (Hopefully)

Zort70 said...

If they start the URL reveal early, let me know so I can wake up.

If not I'll check first thing tomorrow.

Sandman90 said...

For those seeking to frame their prints cheaply, Michaels has 18x24 Trendsetter backloading black poster frames with glass. These are normally $19.99 but I went to the store today and they are on sale (nationwide supposedly) for $11.99. I've been coming to terms with the fact that custom framing these bad boys is cost prohibitive.

Capcom said...

I agree Martyn and Sandman.

Capcom said...

P.S. Thanks for the frame info Sandman. :o)

1miletogo said...

@AndySchex, I think the 88's blog is actually a wordpress blog and it has a domain redirection to polo67life.com

I've been getting my frames at Michaels, I got the cheaper version of the trendsetter, it usually goes for 14.99, but you also get a 40% off coupon for regular priced items, so if you buy one frame at a time, you can save 40% off frames 2 - x

Hey, I got a response from 88-keys. When we first got the first clue, I commented on his blog to ask him if he has any events coming up. I just got this:

Author: 88-Keys
Comment:
Unfortunately no. I'm actually in 'hibernation' right now... (but not sleeping). I'm currently working on my next beat CD, mixtape and next album... simultaneously. Wish me luck homey! ;)

TechnoPrep said...

I love it that he said "MIXTAPE"!

AndySchex said...

@amy - didn't someone call ahead of time to one of the store events and the employee denied a Lost promotion was going to be held there. Maybe 88 Keys isn't allowed to confirm anything.

lora said...

Hey Rev Milo,

Off topic, but your comment about tax returns brings back memories. I'm a CPA and got my start (in the '80's) with a public accounting firm. I prepared 1040s, 1120s, 1042s, etc. After 4 years I left public to become a corporate tax accountant.

I assume you're working on extended 1040s. Fun fun fun!

Back on topic--I think that the next clue will be the time on Thursday to go to the 88-Keys blog. Then the blog will reveal the poster website at the appropriate time.

ReverendMilo said...

@lora, yep me and my 3 compatriots have to finish mailing the 15000 remaining 1040NR's. :)

I'm lucky we only deal with non-residents, the returns are pretty simple.

I have no idea if we are getting another clue before reveal, but damn do we need one!

AndySchex said...

I agree Rev, cause if we don't get another clue, I'll probably wake up several times in the middle of the night for fear of missing a poster.

@Maven: The 8:00am clue/announcement for the cupcakes (The Crash reveal) happened after midnight EST if I'm not mistaken. So in theory it could happen really late tonight.

Also I think I may owe Amy an Apollo bar. Thanks for checking with him though, Amy... and awesome that he responded.

Though technically I think I only lose the bet if it's on a podcast or blog post....? We may need a referee. :D

Cheif Brody said...

Yes...there have definetly been reveals AFTER midnight ET. But in all fairness...That give those following the clues west of the Mississippi a lil bonus. The final reveal of the events have been averaging 12 hours to a day's advance notice.

Like I've mentioned previously, I think they do it so late on purpose...to discourage anyone from jumping in their cars and driving across 2 states, or buying a last second plane ticket to fly to an event...with hopes that they will possibly score a 'freebie' for showing up. The old standard 'radio contest' legal precautions in place.

I live in the eastern time zone, but I'm a night owl...and I def remember seeing clues pop up after midnite. Is it me...or are these clue reveals getting harder and harder with each ne location?

More than likely, it's a mistake. They probably meant 1pm EDT.
Also I think I messed up, EDT = EST + 1 hour so 1pm EST would be 2pm EDT. It's getting late and my brain is a bit fuzzy so I could be wrong.

Congested said...

Amy, I officially owe you 1 Apollo Bar. Which you will receive in December.

AndySchex said...

That makes 2 reports of people involved with the url reveal denying the event. I guess TPTB are making them sign non-disclosure agreements.

Amy Lynn said...

Wahoo!

Cheif Brody said...

Looks like we made this reveal more difficult than we needed to! We went from Adam & Eve theories...to an 88-Keys concert...until we realized the dude hasn't had a record out or been on tour in ages...to a piano bar in Seattle...to an Apple Store in NYC...to an open mic night...dear, lord...

And it all comes back to 88-Keys personal blog. Wow...talk about "plucked from total obscurity"! Amazing.

Well, I guess that's part of the fun...but why do I feel a lil bit like a lab rat (Eloise) in a maze...with no cheese at the end? Anyways...I guess they don't have to worry about anyone 'racing' to this event...or having any free T-Shirts for the crowd.

Anonymous said...

@Congested - Send one of those Apollo bars my way too if you don't mind ;-)

For everyone else asking what "Baggage Claim" is, I'm sure it's a song. Probably what we call a "street single," a song that serves to promote the artist, rather than a specific album. From the clue/pic, I'm wouldn't be surprised if the lyrics were atleast 50% related to LOST, if not just airport/flight themed in general. 88-Keys has made it big as a producer, but has some way to go as an artist, so having a million ppl hit his blog in search of LOST info I'm sure can't hurt.

1pm EDT is like that because we are not on daylight savings yet. They only change the name on November 1st when we go into daylight savings. So:

1pm EDT = 12pm CST = 11am MST = 10am PDT.

So no, EDT isn't EST + 1 hour just yet but will be on Nov. 1st.

I believe daylight savings time starts in the spring and ends in the fall.

Daylight Savings Time starts in April and this year will end November 1st. I live on the east coast of the US, i've been doing this for many many years ;)

The time states on DCaaPB 1:00 PM EST which is correct as we haven't moved into EDT as of yet. All calculations for other areas in the world should calculate from that.

@mk - huh? If daylight savings time starts in April and ends in Nov, how are you not in daylight savings time now?
Its all probably moot anyway as EST in the clue is most likely a mistake.

@Charles: Yeah, you were right as well, though you can at least admit that this is a pretty lame way of revealing the clue. A live show would have been well worth attending for those of us in NY.

And I like your mixtape track theory. Would be cool to hear him do a track about Lost. :)

I've got 7 actual (TLE) Apollo bars still in their original packaging, so I figured what the hell. (Though I was damn convinced it'd be a better reveal than a blog post - here's hoping for that song).

Hip hop artist The Game has a single titled Baggage Claim. Probably just coincidental though, since the lyrics seem to R rated for a LOST reveal.
