First! No, I'll pass on this one. Good luck!

Zort you are awesome! Just wanted to tell ya again.

MeSoCrazy said...

I think it's a really cool design but like other's have said doesn't really capture a moment for me that makes me feel I need this. Good luck for those buying.

What are those symbols on the upper right?

Looks like I might just end up with just The Hatch after all!

This looks like a bookcover

eXo said...

It seems more like a poster you would get from a fanzine, like a foldout from the center of the book.

I suppose that the lack of a human character on the sheet (and the fact that the style is so different from the series) makes it hard to relate to.

Why not something that dealth with the map on the back of the blast door, or the blood splatter on the ceiling. Hell, that would have been fairly cool if it was the blood splatter making the swan design above an event taking place in the station, such as desmond holding a gun up to jack and locke.

UnseenPresence said...

They should wait like 5 hours to open the selling. Just to make it easier.

knightsintodreams said...

ok new post lol like i said, it's anciant chines preditions. those symbols are the sequence of coins you flip and then look up in a book and it will tell you what will happen ;D

StrobeJams said...

That's ... a lot of red

Anonymous said...

Any idea when they will start taking orders?

mrtibbs said...

Wow, I suggested Rob Jones two nights ago! Cool

knightsintodreams said...

I-ching X3

Capcom said...

Right Exo, that would make it a Radzinsky poster. :-)

Anonymous said...

Lame poster...pass. Cool artwork, but it captures nothing from the show.

LostinLondon said...

I think this is so strong graphically - love the swan and it is not too overtly lost, so that only those in the know, know!

fab - is it wrong that i am plannign all the decorating of our new flat around these posters!

Scoutpost said...

I actually like it, but it wouldn't look too good hanging in my house. But I can imagine it looking good with the right decor.

thorsten said...

The art of Rob Jones has become the visual trademark of music sensations The White Stripes. His striking designs for Meg and Jack are among the most desired posters of the modern rock era.

knightsintodreams said...

his real aertwork is actually quite cool~ very lewis caroll. now why couldn't he have done that?

vud said...

I'll pass on this one. Good luck to those who want it.

Did anyone see that a copy of 'The Crash' sold in 30 minutes as a 'Buy it Now' on ebay for $650 today. I bought mine for the enjoyment, not the investment.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Eric-Tan-The-Crash-Lost-Poster-Print2009_W0QQitemZ300360038860QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item45eeda79cc

Capcom said...

This poster would look very good in a dojo. I like it but I and my VISA can pass on this one, thankfully.

Amy Lynn said...

Someone just said in chat you could make this on Photoshop - agreed.

Adam said...

So much potential for a poster depicting the Swan (where the hell is Desmond??) Bland design and color scheme, no elements of Lost besides the counter W/ symbols. This is extremely disappointing.

UnseenPresence said...

Conversely, I really like it a lot.

I brought this over from the last thread. To be sure eXo sees my apology. I posted without know zort made a new thread.

eXo
I apologize. But did you get your url from the list or was it from someone at the event?

Scoutpost said...

It makes me hungry for Chinese food. (Hopefully that doesn't offend anyone! oops)

Roxanna said...

This reminds me of Catcher in the Rye. It's not on my list of ones to buy because I have already gotten plenty and am holding out for just one more.

Happy buying to everyone who wants it! :)

The reveal was "in the bag" as promised. Wonder what Tokyo will bring...

RobPerrin said...

Be interesting to see if this sells out today.

Scoutpost said...

Yes, the bag said "I'm Lost..." on the front. Assuming the URL was on the back or inside.

Anonymous said...

Assuming Tokyo will also get the bags. That's what I got from the flyer at least.

dylansdad said...

If I got this one, I would have to explain to everyone who saw it what it was--it's that obscure. It's also too simple. It doesn't scream LOST. It is so abstract that it doesn't clearly represent a defining moment of the show.

jeremy said...

I must say that I absolutely LOVE this poster.
It is beautiful in it's simplicity.
I, for one, am glad that he didn't use the actual swan logo, because by altering it slightly, he implies that the swan station is a living thing, and a sinister one at that.

If this had come out before the Hatch (which I bought) I would probably buy, but as I already have one, I don't know if I can justify another 50+s/h to my wife.

=0p

Colleen said...

buy now is up

eXo said...

@Capcom, well yes, the blood may have been Radzinsky's, but the fact is the blood splatter itself was def. a mystery of the hatch when first revealed. And a ton of important events took place in the hatch just below it. So using that as "the mystery" and placing it in the context of one of the important events that took place in the hatch (desmond meeting the survivors, locke refusing the push the button... although that was a bit down the hall, Ben as prinsoner, micheal killing the two tailers, etc) would have been cool to me.

I am waiting for a poster that depicts an "oh shit" moment for me.

Some have come close, but not quite.

At this rate the only thing that might sell me on a poster is locke falling out of the box... but the theme here def. seems to be related to the first season only so far (with a few scenes from farther in, as far in as season 3 or so I believe).

Maybe a poster like the first one, but in the center we have Jacob and all the scenes he dabbled in across the island are depicted around him (just as all the various scenes relating to the numbers are depicted).

Please ignore me while I ramble.

@sayid'sgirl - the link was posted in a live twitter feed I was following (not one of the two feeds from here).

I typed it in and got the go merch, but when I added the dcpb/x/ to it, then it worked. I am hearing from other people responding to that twitter feed that lots of URL's were working. I am assuming that the "lots of URLs" are from one of those lists.

feel_the_insanity said...

I got one, but wow!!! Sold out in 2 minutes...and the poster isn't even that good!!

eXo said...

@Amy Lynn - wow, your right - this would be very easy to recreate in photoshop. Even easier in Illustrator (which would allow you to scale it up to any printable size).

It would actually be easy to mimic the design and style and create a whole series - one for each station, with a different bold color for eahc one...

flame - orange
hydra - blue
staff - white

etc etc

tupalev said...

1696 for me. I really like this one.

No chance at all to go back in for a second one for any of those here that missed out - what was that, 3 minutes? :(

The poster is nice but I hope to be able to buy one that reminds me of my LOST days. My two favorites are The Smoke Monster and Transmission.

Emily said...

if anyone cares, the lines on the right side of the poster are the lines from the ba gua, the symbol the dharma logo is based off of. Essentially, those lines are binary.

Anonymous said...

I was at check out and went back to check my info and I had a problem loading the page. Now it's sold out AAARRRGH.

eXo said...

I have a very strong feeling that blackmarket people are involved at this point, buying these posters simply to resell them.

Adam said...

This is some BS. Word has definitely gotten out about these posters to scalpers. You will see a lot of these on ebay, I gurantee it. It seems like this is how its going to be from here on out regardless of poster quality.

The word is out now about this whole underground art project. So lots of LOST fans, plus I imagine art fans are buying just to buy. It's gonna be hard from here on out. Must think and act fast.

Tess315 said...

Wow What was that 3 minutes?

MJCarp said...

OK. What now. No. collection.

mistersh0w said...

I logged out immediately after my order went through to get one for my buddy, but as soon as I went back to the site SOLD OUT... bummer.. I'm nervous about my order..

The Unsomnambulist said...

Well, guess that rumor of a 30 minute delay was bogus.
Disappointing, as it sort of defeats some of the incentive to actually show up for the reveals...
On the bright side, I did get a collectible bag.

eXo said...

Im not sure if it goes against copyright rules or anything, but Id be happy to recreate this and share a version of it that could be taken to any printer shop and printed up. Wouldnt be signed or numbered, but you'd have the art....

MJCarp said...

Justin, I could use a little love in the poster department

thorsten said...

From OMGposters.com:

It’s not every day a new Rob Jones poster goes up for sale online, and when they do, you’d better snatch them up.

eXo said...

yes, it does suck for those who go to the reveals when they have no chance at getting a poster.

LostinLondon said...

Oh no! I can't believe it - that was ridiculous. I got 1820 and was unable to get Martyn one.

Sorry Martyn - I really tried for you. :(

Anonymous said...

it also has a lot to do with the fact that it's rob jones. he has a pretty rabid following...

feel_the_insanity said...

Pathetic...absolutely pathetic...They have got to come up with a new way of selling these. 4 minutes? Really? Let the "black market" convo begin. I don't even like the poster, I bought it for my bro because he likes the Dharma Initiative and this is related (somewhat). Zort couldn't get one? LotteryTicket couldn't get one? They are the most dedicated fans on this site, that's a damn shame.

MY FAVORITE part of the comments on this site are when people complain about HATING the poster and say "This is [an] extremely disappointing [bag]" then a few posts later start complaining about how fast they sold out and how they weren't able to get one. You have to see the irony in that, Adam.

Ginger said...

Whaaa?! Really?! I looked this guy up a couple of nights ago. I can't believe this sold out faster than Dan McCarthy. It is pretty obvious where we're going to see this for sale next. IMO. Capitalism-gotta love it.

Guys everyone needs to calm down a little I think. There were over 400 people viewing the forum at darks and who knows how many here. There are only 200 posters. The fact they didn't sell out like this from poster one is actually kind of surprising. There's no conspiracy going on and I'd be surprised if more than one of these was actually bought for ebay alone. I personally don't like this one at all though and I am sorry for anyone who missed out. But 200 posters between all the lost fans on the net? It was never going to last long....

I got an error message screen after putting in all my info and pressing "order". Is this a problem with the system or does it mean I just wasn't fast enough?

This is Ellen #2. I can't even get into my Google account right now. And I got frozen when the order was confirming, so I DIDN'T GET IT~~~~~ B00000000000 :(:(

back_gammon said...

I love this poster but I couldn't place my order fast enough.

:(

eXo said...

@anon - if you look at the names, the same people are complaining about the poster and then complaining about how fast it sold out.

The closest to that is my deconstruction of the poster and then claiming that I feel like I should I have bought it for someone else. Doesn't mean I wanted it myself - I just assumed the diehards like Lottery and Zort would get theirs.

Scoutpost said...

scottbphilip- I think you are correct. The word is out now.

I think the error messages are coming because the orders are going so fast and the site just can't handle it.

eXo said...

@scottbphilip - I thought it was 300 of each poster.

feel_the_insanity said...

Well, to anyone who doesn't know what the symbols mean...here are the links. I must say, they actually make sense (to LOST, that is) and are pretty cool.

Anonymous said...

Rob (from Ellen), that's exactly what happened to me.

mrtibbs said...

I feel so lucky to get this. I was at the Raconteurs first gig in Liverpool a couple of years ago and Rob Jones did exclusive posters for each gig, all limited.
I really wanted one, but was worried it would get crushed in the mosh pit so thought I'd buy one on the way out. All sold out, then I saw shedloads on ebay selling for a fortune which really peed me off.

I'm so pleased that I (think) that I managed to get one. Been a fan of Job Jones since that gig, and he's a really nice bloke. I was emailing him regularly at one point as he got me in to Flight of the Conchords. As a designer, he's an inspiration to me.

This is typical of his style, limited colour pallet (red black and white like the white stripes stuff) and simple shapes. Obviously not used any vintage looking imagery here as it's not relevant to lost.

IMHO it's great!

Capcom said...

At this point I hope that the rest of the posters have been done by artists who are a lot less popular. Wow.

Ginger said...

Thanks for the links Scoutpost. I love the Virgin Mary statue on the counter! Cute.

Luke

This error that came up was one of the ways we have created to stop overselling of the print. We were sold out at the time of you trying to complete the order, and we don't want to oversell the print again. So the site basically shuts down and also gives you that error. Sorry, but since we were sold out within 2 minutes of the poster going up, your order was not complete when we still had prints in stock.

I never complained about not getting one of these. Never wanted one, still don't now. I said it's sh!tty for the people (ie: lost fans or even art fans in general) that lose out to the scalpers who turn right around and throw it up on ebay. So sorry, I don't see anything ironic between my two posts.

Scoutpost said...

Yeah, I'm thinking if you're at the computer when it goes live, maybe you should just buy. Then sell to whoever wanted it but didn't get it. It's a risk I guess. Or maybe we take the poster buddy system to the next level.

oruga_xxx said...

Anonymous said...

@eXO No. The reason I put the name "Adam" at the end of my comment was because "Adam" did EXACTLY what I said happened, which is trash the poster for being disappointing, then maybe 25 posts later start complaining about not being able to buy one. If you ask me, that's worse than people buying it for eBay.

Anonymous said...

While I feel the art itself is beautiful it does nothing to depict The Swan Hatch itself. Heiroglphics and a swan? This isn't what The Swan Station was about.

Black and red color scheme would work for certain decor or a house perhaps with a room with a black or red decor. This simply doesn't say LOST to me. Of all the WCM moments of LOST, The Swan and Desmond was one of top 2..this doesn't do it.

This is for those who are collecting the whole set or someone who has a home where this would work into their decor. It's doesn't capture that one moment I was so looking forward to.

Enjoy and congrats to those who got it. I'm looking for art for my home right now, i'm looking for just that right "LOST" moment and black and red at a beach home? No.

It's just getting so fast, it's hard to monitor from work! This one I was refreshing and refreshing to even see the "BUY" button, and blinked and it was sold out! That is just crazy!

Adam said...

ANONYMOUS

Again, as I said above, I could care less about not getting this one for myself. I never wanted it and still don't now that it sold out. I said it sucks for people who are following this who love the show (the reason they are doing this entire print series according to the website) or just art fans in general. People buying these to turn around a profit on ebay is weak. Please read the entire post before you rip on me. I was never mad on missing out on this print for myself.

Order #1822 here...one you'll never see on Ebay. This is going straight to a frame and on my wall. Actually, my brother's wall...but whatever.

I'll be buying all the posters from here on out, regardless of whether I like them. If I get a poster that I don't like and someone else missed out, I'd be more than happy to sell it to them. For $61.10. Not $500, not $600, and no not $900 (The Crash just sold for this.) We're a community here, we need to help each other out.

It's no problem, I'd be more upset if I was collecting all of them and didn't get one.

Cristina Roswell said...

I passed on this. It´s nice looking but like others have said before it doesn´t say LOST to me. I´m looking for something like a LOST scene or a concrete character I REALLY love or that do say LOST to me, like the Transmission (wasn´t my fav scene but loved Season 1 and it reminds me of LOST and S1).

Also I need to save money just in case there´s a Sawyer or Sawyer/Juliet (The Incident) related one, or maybe a Daniel (The Constant) one so I have to be really picky with the remaining posters.

Congrats to those of you who liked it and got one! And sorry for those of you who didn´t manage to buy it. I was gonna get one just in case anybody else missed it but I really didn´t think it would sell out. Silly me, I´m really sorry people :( Next one I´ll buy it no matter what so I can help other losties.

-----------------

No, they'll be giving out "the bags" that those in LA got today is all.

Amy Lynn said...

LotteryTicket, I"m in Dark UFO right now, no problem.

Drew said...

Looking back at the latest clue, which directs you to the Tokyo event "if you missed out", I strongly suspect that a second reveal will occur there. This suggests a course of action for a single person (i.e., if you missed the first time, try the second time). But someone who missed the tote bags in LA is not going to hop a plane to Tokyo just to get a tote bag there.

So, the subject of the Tokyo reveal has to be something that one could realistically have a second shot at if they missed it the first time - that it, it has to be a poster. Probably 100 posters sold via this reveal, and another 100 sold via that one. Seems like too much ado if they're only handing out tote bags in Tokyo.

Anonymous - didn't think you sounded snotty mate, it's funny what a wide audience lost and this wonderful place attracts. There's me sitting in my little cozy home, and there's folks in all sorts of places. It's great that were all brought together by a love of Lost.

I have more cyber lost buddies that I do real Lost buddies! It's just a shame that my Mum passed away earlier this year and won't get to see the last season. So I got this poster in memory of my Mum, and trading our Lost theories.

I digress…

that should just be a rule of thumb that you always try and go back to buy a second poster. for guys like Luke and Zort and Lotery~ sorry you guys missed out..
question: when you buy a poster for the second time, do you have to repeat all your information? or is there a returning customer option? like at Amazon, where your shipping and all that is already entered?
cuz i'm think maybe i should practice typing my info lol need to get speedy

LOL Anon, The Crash had too much "Kate" on it for me. :o)

*how long will the sadness last?*

I am recording order numbers.

SpoilerTV Forum is down. So the DarkUFOers must be super upset. When it comes back to life, I will update "List"

-------------

SpoilerTV is down? Perhaps they should have thrown DARK a few bucks from that Lostie fund, do you know how much he pays a month for the bandwidth on his forum site. They had been planning to hoard up about 3-4 of these posters in case some missed out, i'm sure most of you must know this.

Lottery, perhaps you as someone who has been collecting all may be able to get one from the Save a Lostie fund, then suggest to them that Dark pays $250.00 a month just for the bandwidth on the entire forum site. They have 500 pages on one thread alone. ;) No, i'm not Dark nor am I affiliated with him but as an avid user of DarkUfo I do make sure I throw a couple bucks into the pot over there even if its by making purchases through his Amazon links. I'm sure Zort here is not getting this site for free either.

Drew said...

Zort - Thanks for that info (and of course for running this great site). In that case, maybe they'll be selling some of the Swan Prints in person in Tokyo? Just some speculation.

@ Scoutpost. Luckily I wasn't really after this one (too penniless to desire too many!) but I am just floored by how fast they are going now. I remember when I could sit for 30 seconds and go: "Hmm. Am I tempted?" Now, if you wait that long, and it's long gone! Ha ha. I will be so sad if a Ben Moment poster finally comes and I am in a meeting or something and thus miss out. Oh the woe should that come to pass!

This is Ellen #2 again. The message I'm getting from all this disappointment is to get back to what I love doing....rewatching LOST, reading all the boards, and finishing up my application for that doctoral program I'm going to start next spring. And remember to have lunch!

Drew, 11 a.m. (Tokyo) for RH there.

Please explain two urls? Is the problem I had related to that?

Anonymous said...

Lottery, if you bought any extra of the other posters, I would be more than happy to trade with you. I am not putting this on Ebay and only got it to trade and if I can't trade then at least get one poster from this event.

Anonymous said...

So i'm guessing this will be it as far as The Swan prints go. Nothing upcoming with Desmond in it, system failure...blast door map? Maybe we'll have The Constant w/ Desmond then?

mm thanx scout~ your name makes me think of to kill a mocking bird :3

There was another url with the same poster on, I think it was www.wewerecaughtinanet.com

The Crash had too much off...everything I wanted in a LOST print :( I'm really mad I missed that one, missed it by 5 minutes. That's the only print I'd consider paying more than $50 for.

Anonymous said...

Enjoy and congrats to those who got it. I'm looking for art for my home right now, i'm looking for just that right "LOST" moment and black and red at a beach home? No.
--------------------

My apologies here, I meant to say

I'm NOT looking for art for my home....

I would be willing to make a big contribution to the "save a lostie" fund in exchange for poster #10.

ok, no I was on the correct url. But that is interesting?

Charter321. Thanks. I will think about this

AmyLynn, I can't get to SpoilerTV for whatever reason.

Eugene said...

Well, I kind of think that if you buy extra posters in case someone doesn't get one then you almost guarantee that someone else won't get one. Then you get to pick and choose who you give the poster to. That just doesn't feel right even though it's a very generous idea.

Amy Lynn said...

That's bizarre, LT. It's loading OK for me. Someone just posted this there, that I thought was funny.

It's been 10 prints and we're all still waiting. Waiting for someone to stop the scalpers. But what if they don't? We have to stop waiting. We need to start figuring things out. A woman died this morning just trying to buy a swan poster and he tried to save her, and now you're about to crucify him? We can't do this. Everyman for himself is not going to work. It's time to start organizing. We need to figure out how we're going to survive here. Now, I found posters. Fresh posters, up in the valley. I'll take a group in at first light. If you don't want to go come then find another way to contribute. Last week most of us were strangers, but we're all here now. And god knows how fast the next print is going to sell out. But if we can't ARG together, we're going to die alone.

Sorry Anon, it was: http://actuallyitsketchup.com/dcpb/X/

I think that was an older one.

I was too busy checking the actual reveal though so I don't know if it got a for sale sign on

Scoutpost said...

anon's got it right. don't know where that URL came from. All the people who were at the reveal gave us the trustmejustleaveitbe site.

Amy Lynn said...

I have a serious art question. Really, anyone I know could have made this print using MS Paint or something similar. Are you buying the artist's name here?

MeSoCrazy said...

That was awesome Amy Lynn

Eugene, you make a valid point. I kind of wondered if doing that would help or hurt myself. But I don't know, if it would help, I would do it. If it would hurt, which obviously it very well could, I certainly don't want to take chances away. And within that statement I feel like I've answered my own question.

There was another URL revealed, but I deleted it from the comments earlier. I think it was just a mistake.
