Back to bed.

Attorney Greg said...

I had to check and see someoine had order #1886 for the numbers - so i think i just barely made it.

Luke said...

Was faster than last weeks. I personally have to say this is by far one of my favorites. I have smoke monster and rousseaus transmission, but wow this one is just wonderful. Can't wait to see it in person.

Attorney Greg said...

Anyone else get a 404 error when it switched from on sale soon to buy now - that had to set me back.

Luke said...

I got the 404 error and it threw me off. I went to homepage then reloaded the site.

Trial Attorneys said...

Arggg! The first one I've missed! Can't believe it! This is getting even crazier than I first thought!

lostsailors said...

Yeah I got an error, I just hit enter in the url bar instead of refreshing and it loaded up that way.

Attorney Greg said...

The Swan shows as shipped now (#1712).

John-Paul said...

I love this poster, but as always if anyone wants to trade for Locke's Secret, I'm down.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

well, I'm pissed, how is someone supposed to buy these if they come and go in seconds ? I get up at 5 am every morning and so I waited saw the for sale soon and kept refreshing every 2 seconds yet still missed it

jeremy138 said...

I got the 404 error too but luckily i still got one

Walkindude125 said...

#1953 for me.

feel_the_insanity said...

I hear ya Lisa, I hit refresh a zillion times and got order #2070. I mean...I got it the second it went on BUY NOW and still almost missed it!

andalone said...

I was order #2109. 11/11

Attorney Greg said...

Yeah, never got the 404 refreshing before. Made me think when LT had the wrong URL - slight panic - loaded about the second time time i clicked the url bar after first checking DCAAPB to no avail.

JPL said...

Same here on the 404 error. Typed in address again and link popped up. This is 2nd time that's happened. Order 2001. A minute sell out?!?!?!?

lostsailors said...

@Lisa, yeah I understand. It just almost sucks the fun out when they go that fast. Like there isn't a second to blink! I am going to cry when I inevitably miss the Ben poster I am holding out for. <-- As I have mentioned like 12,000 times now. Haha.

Ginger said...

This makes my heart sink. There is no way I will be able to get one even if I like it. It's too fast. I don't think my computer, or connection, is this fast. I think I'm just going to be in this for the ride from here on out and be thankful I got my Hatch. Cheers ya'll, see ya in another life brotha. I mean in the morning! Nite Nite.

Zort70 said...

ReverendMilo is reporting order number 1937

Attorney Greg said...

@andalone - hope you made the cut

ObFuSc8 said...

Order # 1973 -- with a couple error messages in between.

Went fast though.

Sandman90 said...

When I take a very cursory and unscientific look at people who have been posting here since the start, it looks like not many made the plunge, collectors aside. It would be interesting to see how many folks wanted it and couldn't get it before it sold out.

Justin said...

i got the 404 too...totally threw me off...

i got order 1950

knightsintodreams said...

to whom it may concern, 2010.
aaand it's my second poster :D

Trial Attorneys said...

I would say back to bed. However, I am just really angry about how quick this one went - especially when I did everything as fast as I possibly could.

John-Paul said...

This one went fast because OMGposters.com posted about it. Last week they didn't, and it still went fast, but I think this week's only went that fast cause they did.

lostsailors said...

@Ginger- same, same, same!

Anonymous said...

sold out in seconds, this is just ridiculous! seriously, i still haven't gotten one yet! how is anybody else even given a chance when there are ppl getting it the second its for sale when they already have every other poster!!

feel_the_insanity said...

Well, I am simply in amazement. It's 5:42 at my campus, probably not a soul using our internet and I still "limp in" to this one. Incredible. I'm very sorry to anyone who couldn't get this print, but if it's any consolation this was THE hardest print to get.

ObFuSc8 said...

Anon -- do you use a Update Loader or check4change?

Trial Attorneys said...

ONE IS ALREADY ON EBAY!!!! THIS IS WHAT MAKES ME ANGRY - THIS GUY IS ONLY OUT FOR PROFIT - I ACTUALLY WANT TO KEEP IT!!!!

Sandman90 said...

Did Zort go to Forbidden Planet for some swag? Not really seeing any posts about that yet.

ObFuSc8 said...

No, I don't think Zort was able to get to Glasgow.

lostsailors said...

The eBay thing is so disheartening. Not that they are ending up there, for everything ends up on eBay, but it's like- dude! At least let it ship out first.

@ObFuSc8 - what are Update Loader and check4change?

Trial Attorneys said...

andalone said...

I got a confirmation email and the receipt, so I hope I got it. My order number is so much higher than any I've seen posted.

Anonymous said...

@ trial attorneys - yah, this is getting absolutely ridiculous

Ellen said...

That was a big bust for me. Guess I don't type fast enough, even with all the information that's already there from the last poster purchase. Pooh.

lostsailors said...

@Trial Attorneys, I am so sorry about that. It just makes me really sad.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

and here's another one on ebay

link

Sandman90 said...

I guess it's a good thing it's so early in the morning. I don't think my blood pressure went up when I saw your link to the ebay extortion. That, or I'm just becoming refractory to that stimulus.

Anonymous said...

2 on ebay already. Thats so weak. This was done for the fans not the vultures!

ObFuSc8 said...

@andalone -- hey glad you got in -- any word from kiwilostie with dial-up

John-Paul said...

God, I hope Olly Moss sells Locke's Secret later on his own. Otherwise I see myself spending way too much money on it down the road.

Anonymous said...

Maybe the red ? will be the other 100 that people missed.

Trial Attorneys said...

NOW TWO FOR SALE ON EBAY!!!

JPL said...

Can't believe it's on EBAY. Sad.

Want to thank the crew that headed over to FB for us. Hope they had fun.

Looks like the Reverend is in the lead for earliest print. That would be a NICE thing.

Off to work. See you all later 2nite!

knightsintodreams said...

may i just reiterate how thrilled i am at getting one? i feel so blessed, i'm so happy i got one ^^ but that's officially $100 i've spent now..
so even if Ben appears....i doubt i'll get it. it has to be really really amazing...

jeremy138 said...

Good night all! Been up for almost 20 hours. Need some sleep.

Zort70 said...

Hi, no I didn't go up to Glasgow, not enough time.

Please don't post the ebay links here, it just encourages them !

The best way to stop the EBAY flippers is not to buy it on there immediately.

Anonymous said...

Too sad they are on ebay already... I'm in the UK but still have been awake from 4.30am just waiting and waiting (with my 10 year old daughter - she LOVES LOST). Missed it by seconds, Still reeling as I really did like this one. It's been a pleasure though to read what all you guys have ben going through and appreciated the updates from those in Glasgow... Next week then. Cheers, C

Zort70 said...

To me the poster has a dual meaning, it is Lost of course, but it is also very Tempest like, which as we know is in the Lost bookclub.

brian g said...

I feel like this one will flood ebay. Look at how many swan ones are up, and people are already having to lower their buy it nows. I think so many lame people will snag these from now on just to put on ebay (since they see some going for so much) that they will flood the market with them and if you wait a few weeks you might be able to grab one cheap. Jumping on those early high buy it now prices is a bad idea, in my opinion.

Trial Attorneys said...

Sorry Zort - won't post it again. Just pissed about it. And, no, I am not going to buy it now on ebay. I will wait down the line and find one.

Zort70 said...

brian g - totally agree on that.

Anonymous said...

#2103.....I love this one, really was the one of the first real wtf moments, dont think anyone was expecting a beardy tramp to arrive and take walt!!!

Ariel said...

Did anyone else get charged but was SOL for a poster?

Zort70 said...

Right, back to some work, I can't spend all day talking about posters :-)

Luke said...

Hopefully your #2103 wasn't an oversell. I've heard a few oversells already.

Zort70 said...

If 1937 was the lowest number then you should be fine Luke.

Luke said...

Oh it was for the Anonymous. I got #1980 this time around. Thanks Zort, glad I got this one. It is by far one of my favorites so far even more than Smoke Monster.

Luke said...

Do you think they could've made the new image any bigger on DCaaPB?

MJCarp said...

That was insane. I'll repeat it here so that Tyson will read. If you are going to give us the URL at the top of the hour via LOSTies who attend your events, why then do you boot us all off just before BUY NOW! Geez.

Another harrowing 2 minutes. Seriously?

I'm going to go now and see exactly what I purchased, cause who can enjoy any of this before or during reveal.

Thanks to @sophieBOYY @davidbcooper @LOST_4815162342 @lostgeekglasgow @Holleybee and Freya (if you made it) Enjoyed the photos and hope to see and hear more.

Zort70 as always a shinning star

I will be collecting order number and updating THE LIST at DarkUFO when I wake up, AGAIN.

I don't know what the laws are like regarding sales of Artwork in the US, but here in the UK artists retain a percentage of the value of an artwork after it is sold, meaning that if an artwork is sold on at a later date the artist is entitled to a cut of the price fetched on that work. So being as these are technically numbered Artist's editions, if they were produced by UK artist's they would be entitled to claim a share of the ebay sellers' takings.

Justin said...

Oh, and a huge thanks for the twitterers from the event! you guys deserve more than a piece of cardboard!

back_gammon said...

I'm starting to wonder if some of the Crash prints on ebay are FORGERIES. There seem to be too many of them for sale relative to the production run.

You know what the autograph collectors say about buying anything from ebay: If it's relatively easy to fake, then it probably is.

I wonder how long the flipper's ebay party would last if word got out that some of their prints were fake?

Anyway, congrats to everyone who got a print and thanks to everyone who provided updates.

G'night.

knightsintodreams said...

@back-gammon. how devious! i'll start running the rummor mill about the forgeries. all it needs is a little doubt.
doubt coupled with and $950 can go a looon way >;3

ReverendMilo said...

mel, consider even a flipped print you missed open territory for what I want.come to think of it mel, potentially print 101 on print 11 and bonus gift could be yours (as I can get a flip) for the one thing I'm missing.

Sandman90 said...

I love the fantastically large jpg of the URL on the hub page. Awesome.

back_gammon said...

Re: FORGERIES

Sadly, fakes and forgeries are bound to turn up on places like e-bay. That's one of the reasons I suggested a registry List. I've bought two prints so far and kept every shred of documentation: the credit card invoices, the e-mails from gomerch/DC & PB, etc, as I'm sure all of you have too.

But I'd bet not all of the prints for sale on e-bay can be so carefully documented and authenticated.

Wink

Sandman90 said...

@MEL - Are you trying to collect the entire set?

knightsintodreams said...

lololololol why'd they do that???

ObFuSc8 said...

lostsailors check4change and update loader are browser add-ons for nonRSSed sites that detect as soon as the site is updated.

I have missed out from work now a couple of times so had been using them there, but in reality the F5 button is faster -- if you don't get the weird 404 thing that happened today.

Anonymous said...

This whole forgery idea is pretty silly if you ask me. I think what happened is that some of the Losties decided that hey they could use the money people are paying right now for a so-so print. Sorry, but I personally think The Crash is hideous. In my eyes, it's people that bought the print and realized "hey I could use the money more than the print."

ObFuSc8 said...

@Sandman90 -- MEL was a recipient of one of the 30 DCAAPB prints -- the actual print of Damon, Carlton and the Polar Bear! He has all of the rest of them -- until now.

back_gammon said...

Sandman, Mel is the ultimate "total set" collector. He has a super rare, signed print of the original Damon, Carlton, and Polar Bear velvet painting that was given to him for participating in the Paul Scheer insanity that launched this whole thing.

Mel, dude, don't worry. We'll get you a Walt's Kidnapping print somehow!

ReverendMilo said...

Mel
just reread my post, hope it did not come across wrong. took meds to drop adrenaline after order.
(yes I do treat this like a RL sniper would. take meds to ramp up, control breathing for a 30 minute stretch, and then use countermeasures to handle the release of adrenaline after I pull the trigger and stop the breathing exercises)
I am that insane

Zort70 said...

Rev - Insane or dedicated ?

Are you going to run bootcamps on poster buying ?

Zort70 said...

Step 1 - Be the poster

Martyn said...

@Zort, main page says The 10th poster is revealed as -

Commiseration's to MEL and anyone who got the 404 or anyone who wanted one but didn't get one for whatever reason.

I like this but personally, not as a poster. Would much prefer to see it as a proper oil painting as it looks on a canvas, that would be amazing.

But obviously impossible. I knew it would sell out fast even though not a lot of people liked it. I think its somes up that scene quite well tbh and what Tom/Mr. Friendly looked like in that particular scene, but i'm sure Walt didnt have an Afro when he was kidnapped.

All in all, going to be doing some serious upheavel on my computer, intense finger excercises, practise buying (well, not if the love triangle is sold out), so i'm nice and prepared for a poster I might want next week.

I can buy one more outside the final poster and my desired scenes are:

Montage of Charlie's Deaths/Greatest Hits with Not Penny's Boat in the middle.

Desmond and Penny's Phone Call in The Constant w/ I LOVE YOU! in the middle. (Would make a nice romantic xmas present too ;D)

Michael Holding A Smoking Gun After Shooting Ana Lucia, Seen From The POV of Libby.

Personally, i'd love the Penny Desmond one the most.

ReverendMilo said...

with the mild threat elsewhere, I am considering training a cadre.

but they have to be l33t. multiple machines, and maybe willing to drop the cost of a print to get to my level. Multiple machines because if I share my knowledge it is going to losties capable of possibly a second print purely for the greater good.

Zort70 said...

Martyn, yes I spotted that as well, it's updated now.

Someone said there were bags as well, and that the board is a comic book backing board.

So, just a comic backer-board and bag when I had expected a comic book -- come on DCaaPB -- wasn't there a skateboard deck give away at some point.

I know the intro at the top of the DCaaPB page states "the coolest part of the fun, can be achieved just by s taying in your house" and "everyone will have a chance to get to the end result, as long a s you're online and stay tuned to this website". But the Losties who show up at the actual site reveals are truly dedicated and should get a little something (more).

I guess maybe they are saving the comic for the 1st buyer prize. I'm still drooling at the thought of the script Andy got!

Cooper, do you have any idea what might be going on at the NY store today?

GoMerch/Ronie Midfew Arts site still down -- that seems like a long time!

good morning again. MEL <3. There were other casualties. Catching up with all comments.

Giving Mr. Millward for "Walt's Kidnapping" a second and third glance. Fire and water and the concentric circles. Turning it over, literally and figuratively. The boy in the hand reminds me of King Kong and Ms. Wray, or "hand of God." But the scene in LOST is anything but benevolent.

Off to collect numbers so we have a clear picture.

I lost hope last week, but was found. Hang in there everyone.

I got mine.. #2046. I really like it. I love the water/smoke in the sky, and the representation of Tom. Though, the boat is wonky... It was a raft, not a boat. Either way, I love it.

At work now and really tired. Only got about 3 hours sleep. ugh. Will go home early.

@Amy Lynn -- Not sure if what FP-NYC has going is at all LOST related. It's Marvel Fest. I have DMed them about it, but no answers except the one from FPI I posted before.

Amy Lynn said...

I would LOVE it if they had a Widmore bag, but I think probably not.

ObFuSc8 said...

FPI pretty much "no" about the backer board. I think the bag is just the clear plastic thing that comics come in, no printing on it. The Widmore Publishing is printed on the backer board.

We could call the Glasgow sore...hmmm

Sigh. Disappointing morning for me as well. I got up at the crack o 3:45, F5 my big heart out, then got shut down by issues with validating the CC. What the heck Tyson? :(

Same card Ive used to buy all of my prints. I just dont get it.

Oh well. Better luck next time I suppose.

Not to sound like a fool, but was there a place online to find the URL for the new poster or was it only revealed in person in Glasgow? And, if only revealved in Glasgow, how do people know about it? sorry a bit behind the 8 ball. I was looking all over the forbidden planet website at 5 am for clues but wasnt bumping into anything. thanks!

Congratulations to everyone who got one! I loved this print. I got the 404 error as well and by the time I got all the way through and clicked "complete checkout" it was sold out. It pains me to keep going to DCAAB and looking at it but man is it a sweet poster. I think I'm just a sucker for night time scenes.

ReverendMilo said...

Anon, it is easiest to get the link by following someone attending the event live via twitter.

ReverendMilo said...

it also comes up on the hub at time of reveal before sale

Hello People!
This is Drew Millward. I'd just like to thank folks for picking up this print. I'm amazed at how fast it sold out. I'm glad people are liking it. I'm happy with how it turned out, and i can tell you that the printing on this turned out better than i could ever have hoped.
I'm happy to be involved with such a great series.
It sucks that people who wanted the print missed out to Ebay flippers. I'm sorry about that.
Thanks again.

Drew

Wow, Hi Drew, we appreciate you stopping by.

Amy Lynn said...

Hey Drew, nice print. I like the Van Gogh-ness of it!

Lisa-Maladylis said...

hello Drew, it is a fantastic print ! Thanks so much for helping us lost fans enjoy the show just that much more. I'm one of the losties that sat by the pc waiting for it to be shown and in 2 seconds it was gone. I was heart broken :-( I do hope that I can get one somewhere some time. But I won't pay the scalpers 300 for it either when they just bought it to rip people like me off. Thanks again ! Maladylis

Thanks a lot.
It's a bit of a departure from my usual stuff, but i'm happy with how the 'experiment' turned out. Glad the the fans of the show like it anyway, it means i've done my job properly.

time to recap?!

If I had to rate all posters so far solely from the art/screen print angle I'd say

3. Walt's kidnapping
2. The Hatch
1. Smoke Monster

On the other hand if I look at them purely from the L O S T angle my list looks like this

3. Locke's secret
2. The Crash
1. Rousseau's Transmission

Does that make any sense? What do YOU think?

Hey Drew!! Love the poster, can't wait to get mine. :)

(p.s. maybe Drew can fill us in as to the correct measurements!)

Also - just saw the pics of the Glasglow people, what an attractive bunch of losties! Thanks for going and getting the info to us :) :)
