Frame 8 - Parque Patricios, BA 210

The next clue for poster 8 is "Parque Patricios, BA" which is a district of Buenos Aires.

For a Wikipedia article about the district click here.

Thanks to Eugene in the comments and Jen Varner via email for telling us about the clue first and Amy Lynn for the Wikipedia link.

Amy Lynn has also told us about this website www.generacionba.gob.ar/generacionba/48barrios where there is a PDF file with lots of images of Argentina, one of them is by DGPH and the subject is Parque Patricios.

This then leads us on to a website jantango.wordpress.com/category/clubes-de-barrio/ where there is this description - "Club Atlético Huracán Av. Caseros 3159 Parque Patricios

This club’s history dates back to 1903. During the 1940s dances were held on Saturdays. Ernesto Jorge De Gouvea once told me that he would give his right index finger to have one night the way it was at Club Huracán. It must have been very special for him. Dances were held ten years ago in the confiteria of the club."

This also points us to Atlético Huracán which is a football (soccer) team in that area.

Another possible connection was made by JPL at this URL www.clubahuracan.com.ar/vivo.html

The site also points to a Huracan match on Wednesday.

Hey guys,

If you check out a site called 48 Barrios (www.generacionba.gob.ar/generacionba/48barrios), there's a print with the newest clue, Parques Patricios, by DGPH.

It seems DGPH did a piece depicting Parque Patricios as part of a series of artists painting different neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. Trying to find a decent sized image of it now.

Congested said...

It can be found on page 57 of this PDF... uploading an jpg of it to imageshack right now:

Ah, nice Amy.. I didn't know you could click through those images. ;)

That's an interesting interpretation of Parque Patricios...guess there's a big population there with all the storks delivering babies! LOL

JPL said...

@congested... very cool.
Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but yet another balloon reference. Ties in nicely w/ logo of soccer team :)

Congested said...

"Los 100 barrios porteños son en realidad 48.

También son 48 los jóvenes artistas que con su talento e imaginación ilustraron cada uno de los barrios de la ciudad; plasmando su cultura e identidad, histórica, latente y emergente."

I'll do my best to translate:

Of our 100 neighborhoods there are really 48.

Also there are 48 young artists that have talent and imagination that illustrate each of these neighborhoods in the city; Translating the latent and emerging culture, identity and history.

maven said...

4 and 8 are Lost numbers!

Congested said...

@maven: yeah.. AND this is poster #8. :)

...also "plasmando" I was unfamiliar with.. it could also mean "representing" or "depicting" or something.. my translation isn't exactly word for word, but I tried to get the gist of it into coherent english.

.... anyway that's what the piece was commissioned for. That statement was at the beginning of the PDF I linked to.

If I'm reading the site correctly, the soccer team has a game on Wednesday. But I can't tell if its home or away.

maven said...

Is there any connection with the show and Argentina and/or Buenos Aires?

JPL said...

@Zort - They do have game on Wednesday 10/7, but going back to this link, do you think it means anything? Watch the party live in 14 hours???

http://www.clubahuracan.com.ar/vivo.html

maven said...

What exactly does:

Mira a las 14:00 HS
El Partido EN VIVO

translate to: Look in 1400 hours (2pm?), the party is live?

maven said...

^that's what whatever you click on at the Club Huracan site takes you to.

Zort70 said...

JPL - I've updated the main post with the information, you could well be right.

JPL said...

@maven - 2PM could be it. :)

AndySchex said...

Partido can also mean game if I'm not mistaken.

Congested said...

@maven:

Well I've sort of been holding back on the connection as its a bit grim.. .but in 1972 there was a plane crash in the Andres mountain that a rugby team had chartered. Many died after the crash, but I believe 2 people trekked out of the mountains to get rescue. In the end only a small portion of the crash survivors lived.

The Oceanic 6 plot line reminded me of it to a certain extent... though obviously the real crash was incredibly tragic and hard to deal with for reasons we probably don't want to discuss here.

Zort70 said...

Congested - Yes I've seen the film, and it is rather upsetting because of that reason.

Zort70 said...

If it hasn't already been said, the Tigre vs Huracan match is on 7th of Oct.

Zort70 said...

Sorry just seen Andy has already said it.

Congested said...

Yeah... and in typing quickly I meant to write Andes Mountains.. not "Andres Mountain" o_O

...Also I'm not quite sure but I think the "en vivo" page refers to when coverage begins of the game, which starts at 17:00... that or the pre-game show starts at 14:00.

Zort70 said...

If Tigre is first then it would normally mean they are the home team.

maven said...

Okay now we have to figure out the time differences between there and the rest of us! Doesn't LT do that?

Zort70 said...

17:00 GMT though ? Odd if it is in Argentina.

Congested said...

I got the 17:00 from the main page where the game announcement is listed. I assume its local time which is GMT-3 I believe.

AndySchex said...

I think the website says 14:00. If that is their local time, that's 17:00 GMT.

Amy Lynn said...

Where are you guys getting a soccer game from these clues, that all point to some kind of art exhibition?

Congested said...

maven:

17:00 (5pm) ART=

8pm GMT
4pm EST
1pm PST

I should note that currently that's the time difference. Because of daylight savings time, etc. That may change during different time of year.

maven said...

Thanks, Congested!

Congested said...

@Amy. True. I think we all sort of took the sports team clue and ran with it.

@Andy. The game starts at 17:00 as listed on the team's main page. The pre-game events begin at 14:00. Or at least that's how I'm reading it.

...but yeah back to Amy's point perhaps we should be looking at gallery/art related events in that area for next week... and at the rate of clues coming in I think Monday/Tues are more likely for a poster release than Wednesday.

AndySchex said...

At http://www.clubahuracan.com.ar/, there is "Mira el partido en vivo por el sitio oficial". Granted I haven't had a spanish class in 20 years, but I translate that as "Watch the game live for the official site". But I'm not sure of the exact translation of por in this context. It might mean using.

I have to agree that the soccer games seems a bit off track.

maven said...

I like the idea of the soccer game...we haven't had a sport event yet. And there's been plenty of reveals at interesting places other than art galleries.

AndySchex said...

@congested http://www.clubahuracan.com.ar/vivo.html specifically mentions to watch at 14:00 local time.

maven said...

AndySchex: Maybe the "official site" is the next URL?

Amy Lynn said...

I agree that a sports game would be interesting, but we have had NO clue pointing to it.

AndySchex said...

Maven maybe. But I think its a bit of a stretch to go from a painting by DGPH with a balloon to a soccer team with a balloon mascot.

JPL said...

@zort - thanks for the shout out.

Wouldn't the final clue that points us to exactly when & where be posted tommorrow? Hasn't it been 3 clues and then the reveal?

My guess is that it will reference the streaming soccer game or point us in a whole other direction. :(

And just for the heck of it, I emailed the team's PR department through their website. My spanish is mas malo. So I used alta babel fish.

AndySchex said...

Looking at the official clues again, I think we are offbase with the soccer game. The wall suggests to me grafetti art.

Zort70 said...

Yes, Wednesday seems to far away, and as the team are probably playing away from home then it might not be directly related to the team.

There was a Taekwondo tournament there today.

Congested said...

@Andy. I saw a wall mural when looking through flickr images of Parque Patricios... I'll try and out find more about it.

@Mel. Nice catch with the storks/hospitals.

Zort70 said...

The wall in the clue does look like a real wall, not a drawing.

Congested said...

There are many murals it seems, from flickr photos, in the neighborhood. Links: 1 2 3

Not sure how any of those would fit in... Perhaps google.com.ar will lend more favorable results for events this week?

Amy Lynn said...

May DGPH is going to some kind of art mural including the new URL sometime on Tuesday? (Just guessing the date from the way the clues are coming)

I wonder if the crew that put together these clues has considered all of these possible red herrings... storks & hospitals, a soccer team that has a balloon logo, etc... when planning this out. It has certainly been a quite the ride this weekend.

Congested said...

Alright. I give up for now. I emailed a blogger who blogs about the neighborhood to see if they had any ideas... http://parquedelospatricios.blogspot.com/

Found a store that looked promising (sixfeet.com.ar) but they don't have one in that neighborhood.

Also the area is known as "The Technology District" locally.

I'm also thinking that the DGPH clue may have actually been a clue for Parque Patricios... but that's just a guess.

MJCarp said...

Did Tyson take this photo? It is a very large image. That would be a new twist. I'm not finding it on any site so far.

Cristian said...

Yay! I can't believe it's really going to be here! XD
Sadly I don't know Parque Patricios (just by name) and I'm pretty busy because of exams coming up at university so I won't be able to go :(
Still I'm sure someone will ^^
Someone asked about argentinian connections to Lost, granted I'm not the biggest searcher around but I only found in Lostpedia that Penny's actress' father is argentinian.

Cristian said...

Oh and about the time differences, yes it's GMT -3

I'm completely new to making any guesses based on the clues so this may be a ridiculous suggestion but, the style of that image reminds me of the style of poster artist Guy Burwell. Free Clocks for Your Web Site

Cheif Brody said...

Guys...would it depress you to know that someone has figured out all the rest of the artwork website urls for the rest of the reveals? I will not post the website here...but here's what leads up to the list of the urls, past and still yet to come:

"So, Losties, Promo-Spoiler Alert: the following is the full and complete list of the yet-to-be-announced, crazy, show-related one liner website addresses for the Lost Ronie Midfew Arts Poster Promotion ARG (alternate reality game). Outside of spoiling the chase itself, there’s not much you can do with the information, unless you have a bet to win! Be careful, you could just win yourself a spouse".

The blogger is correct....there is nothing you can do with the prior knowlege of the next website. Typing any of them in merely takes you to a Go Merch! place holder site. I imagine the moment the url is officially revealed at the event and the page goes live...THEN the new url will work.

And, as always...it gives you no more of an advantage of getting a "jump" on buying the next print, as it doesn't let you buy until an hour or so after the website reveal anyways. It also offers you no answers as to WHERE the event is taking place.

I do believe the websites revealed are accurate. The blog post is dated Sept 13th...and it lists the "HuckFinn" and "ThatManWasYou" sites as 'Future Sites To Be Revealed' category.

I'm surprised RevMilo has not mentioned this...apparently he stumbled across the blog before I and gave the OP a severe thrashing about spoiling the ARG for everyone in the comments section...but later he thought better and deleted his comments.

Anyways...unless TPTB of DC&APB catch wind of this hacking, and decide to re-register and change the remaining domain names to be revealed...the cat is kinda out of the bag.

I, like the Reverend, wish I could 'unsee what I just saw'...but I can't...and some of the magic of this ARG is now....LOST.

Congested said...

Yeah Chief Broady. We've known about this for weeks, and some longer. But don't sell yourself short by saying the magic of the ARG is lost. I'm also predicting that TPTB will change whatever URLs they can to switch things up for some of the final reveals.

The fun comes in the hunt for the URL, not for the URL itself. And there are many here that have remained pure and avoided reading these URLs. Even if one did read the URL they'd have no way of knowing more about the events, which is what makes it all worth tracking.

And as far as hunts go this Buenos Aires one has been as tough as they come. Almost feels like a TLE throwback. I'm hoping we can crack this clue before the next one (and reveal of location/date). I'm actually a bit nervous we won't. :(

Cheif Brody said...

Yeah, Congested...this is a tuffie, for sure! I'm thinking it's prolly one of those dance hall/bars in Parque Patricios will probably be it.

But knowing what the website will be...in advance...is definitely taking the fun out of the reveal. I just hope we get a super cool piece of art!

Anyone else think after Frame 8 is revealed we should do a new poll on our favorite? At the half way point? I know "The Crash" was pretty popular...kinda wondering if it still holds the #1 spot after the last few reveals.

MiddayShadows said...

I think the polls should be rerun every 3rd poster or so, if not anongoing tally. I know there are more popular choices but the Dharma Van is my #1.

thorsten said...

@ Cheif Brody
Looks like we need a bigger ARG!

So, after I managed to stay unspoiled, will it have anything to do with Tango?

Cheif Brody said...

Lol. Could be a "Dancing With The Stars" tie in? We'll see. I'm thinking 'The Rumba'.

Actually...Knowing what the website will be, doesn't help you figure this part out. I'm as unspoiled as everyone else when it comes to 'locations' of events.

Zort70 said...

Definitely ready for a poll at the half way stage.

thorsten said...

hehe, yeah, but you are the one-eyed, Brody. Everyone else is stumbling around the jungle, but you know that red shoes speak trouble! I still wonder if there will be a connection to Seth Wulsins ongoing Caseros Prison Demolition Project… one part of this is called Aparecidos, which means apparition or ghost.
The Huracan (one legged) soccer team is named after a mayan deity of lightning with one human leg and the other one shaped like a serpent.
Where I can smell a John Locke connection…

Zort70 said...

Just had a thought, could the URL and the poster be graffitied onto a wall ?

That would be of Grande proportions.

thorsten said...

I contacted Seth Wulsin on Facebook and asked him if he can find anything Lost-related in the area…

Andy said...

Cheif Brody,
I believe the powers that be have already stated that posters purchased before the site goes "live" will be voided.

I wouldn't worry too much about the urls being out there already.

If you were order number three, what does that make me with #953 ?

Were you a real order number 3 ?

Amy Lynn said...

Are you saying that 956 is 103? If so, then 953 would be the last purchase before 101, I guess.

Capcom said...

Hi Argies, happy Monday.

The only benefit that I can see to having the poster URLs ahead of time, is if they show the poster. Do they? For fans on a very limited budget who can only afford one or maybe two posters, seeing all the choices might aid in knowing what to hold out for to get their very fave subject of those offered. But it's still not in the spririt of the game, except for those peeps who think that hacking is the fun part of the game. :-p

Amy Lynn said...

Capcom, even if you know the URLs, the pictures themselves only go up a few minutes before the site goes "live" and one at a time. There's no advantage to know the URLs at all.

AndySchex said...

http://www.grandehuracan.com.ar/

fits the "grande" clue from the letter.

ReverendMilo said...

Capcom, Amy is correct. Knowing the URLs in advance has no real advantage.

The "on Sale Soon" picture and delay after the public (non-spoiled) link goes active was a measure put in place to make sure of this.

And Cheif, yep I knew, and went a little ballistic briefly on MIBblog for the tactless spoil. Both Zort and I contacted Tyson long before that spoil occurred so that they could prepare in any way they wished.

Yes I was 956 and got print 103, by logic 954 should be first order. But at the same time Tyson evidently reviews the purchase logs and evaluates if cheating was involved. So I cannot truly predict if 954 was first order.

Poster 7 pics now up on DCaaPB.com

E) Apply sharp tool of choice , and carefully turn tube while keeping pressure on tool so that the seperation of clear tape exposes the seam...Or...drag sharp tool of choice around the seam..including thru the label area until you reach the point where you began.

F)grab portion of tube above the seam and remove from lower setion of tube..remove bubble pack , remove paper covered print.

G..OR..go get a pair of plyers..grab the metal lid on either end of tube,,and yank the crap out of the lid until it comes off..

Warning..always cut away from you, never towards you. All other humanbeings and objects of value must be kept at least 10 feet away from area of tube opening.

Amy Lynn said...

Mel, I didn't end up needing a knife or anything sharp. Just took off the label and the tape surrounding it, and popped the top of the tube off!

MJCarp said...

Amy Lynn, hhahahahahahahahahhhhhahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

You might be first to figure that out!

*still laughing*

reAnimated said...

heh. The tube was a piece of cake really.

No word on then the clue will be revealed?

"4. Pull like it's a giant lipstick tube!"

LOL, girl talk!

Unknown said...

What, no clue? How spiteful. I purposely lit a cigarette so the bus would come.

Capcom said...

I didn't want to rip my label and tape off for some reason, so I cut through it. :->

Amy Lynn said...

Sort of amusing- the NYtimes.com home page headline right now is "A High-Tech Hunt for Lost Art". Totally unrelated to Lostargs.

maven said...

I can't believe there was nothing new (yet) today!

MJCarp said...

Not only "Hunt for Lost" look further

"Archie's Destiny" (jughead) and "Love Triangle"

coincidence. i think not.

I highly suggest not removing any thing from the tube shipping container...30 years from now, when you are on Antiques Roadshow wondering how much you Print is valued at..the intact tube with shipping info will not only add value, but show Provenance,,which adds even more value..Matter of fact..Don't even open the Tube..Just put it away for the grandkids..Tell them its their college fund..or inheritance..whatever..

btw..i heard it was to rain today in B. A. Maybe they used watercolors instead of oils on the murals..hence no clue.

....any body want to start a ..which print will sell out next..discussion?........MEL

choose:

a The Hatch

b The Frozen Donkey Wheel

c Jacob's Cabin

d Michael Shooting Libby/Anna

e Lost Music and the skipping record players.

Anonymous said...

LT, I hadnt even thought of the Micheal shooting one. Wonder how they would portray that!
Im waiting for the hatch n donkey wheel. kiwi-lostie

LT..aaammm...I was thinking towards the ones already on display, but not sold out yet,,,,,,yet,,theres something about Michael shooting Ana Lucia that will probably make it an odds on favorite,,if its done in an artful and tasteful way of course ...MEL

someone was able to figure out how many 'BUY NOW' poster were available. It had to do with math. Go figure.

a) the numbers

b) dharma van

c) love triangle (good luck with that)

d) 4-toed (maybe) statue

ok. vote away.

Anonymous said...

..As far as a future Prints..yes,,a montage of all the different ways Charlie was supposed to die..with of course,,how the character did eventually die..starting with Charlie hanging from the Banyun tree..For me..that was like the first Real gut wrencher..MEL

maven said...

The whole show is a water cooler moment!

MJCarp said...

How about THE ISLAND? Highly stylized or realistic?

Anonymous said...

I am surprised by the Hurley poster not being sold out yet. With all the professed Hurley fans on the web..they haven't supported their main man very well.

I had estimated that there were only 20 or so of the Statue left..maybe less by now..

and Dharma Van..geesh.. the work on that one is so meticulous and detailed..Its too bad most fans didn't make the connection of it being a Hearse..oh well..

and the Luv Tri..oh well.. like I've said..its like Olives,,an acquired taste..

I vote the Statue will be the next to go SOLD OUT.....MEL

MJCarp said...

MEL, bang for buck "The Dharma Van" is quite breathtaking 'live' and has the added bonus of doing crazy things under different light. Maybe that's my 1960/70s bias.

The statue would have been long gone if the toes were exposed!

MiddayShadows said...

I own the Dharma Van, and I love it. It's my fav of the series so far. I have to say , for those of you who haven't picked this one up, I believe you are missing out... :)

werwerewr said...

Okay, well at this point I wouldn't rule out the Huracán game. As far as it not fitting with earlier clues there is the possibility that the first clue of DGPH was actually a clue for Parque Patricios.

Unless there's a VERY late clue tonight I think the location will be revealed tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Also, as far as water cooler moments go Jack playing football with Tom is one that hasn't been mentioned but was pretty crazy at the time. o_O

OMG. Slowest. Reveal. EVER!

Oh, well...while we're waiting...here's a lil time killer. It's a LOST shout out from last night's Family Guy. Apparently Stewie is not a fan of Matthew Fox's acting technique!

I fell asleep before I could say night night.

However still no clue this morning.

Zort70 said...

Have we got anyone in Buenos Aires that can go down to the stadium and see if there is anything on the walls ?

AndySchex said...

Dang it - no new clue. I was really hoping to wake up to one.

MJCarp said...

Morning all. Geez.

Amy Lynn said...

Morning! BRING ON THE CLUE, TYSON!

Eugene said...

link

If you zoom in on the picture of the stadium it looks like this might be the brickwall behind the latest clue on DCAAPB.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned.

Zort70 said...

Eugene, it's hard to tell from that photo as the bricks are fairly fuzzy when it is zoomed in, but you could well be right.

reAnimated said...

Hmm. Yeah a higher res pic would help. What Im looking for is the pattern in the bricks from the clue. If you look at the clue, ever other row changes from bricks places at length, and then the next row at width.

Longer bricks one row, then shorter the next, etc, etc.

ShoxTP said...

This wait is killing me, i have class and work today and i already feel that's when its all gonna go down :( and that's when smokey will get here too.

Eugene said...

So far, I have not been able to find a better picture. Most of the ones I can find are of inside the stadium.

Just killing time waiting for the next clue. :o)

Amy Lynn said...

Don't get too worked up - the poster might well be a clunker a la Dharma Van or The Love Triangle.

reAnimated said...

I liked the Van actually. My buddy got a copy in the mail yesterday and it looks pretty crazy up close. Would be great if I was 16 again and had a room full of blacklight posters. heh

ShoxTP said...

Actually....i skipped the van when it came out, but it grew on me each day so i bought it. It looks amazing in person, might be the hidden gem of the bunch.

Amy Lynn said...

I'm sure it looks cool in person, but it just didn't scream "worth $50" to me, especially if I can only buy a few.

reAnimated said...

Agreed. When on a budget, it got left out.

Eugene said...

I like the Van as well. The Triangle? Not so much. But Smokey was on the porch yesterday and it is very, very good.

maven said...

Wow...can't believe we're still waiting, waiting, waiting.....

ShoxTP said...

Amy Lynn

Yeah, i understand. It was my first print so i was if'y, but i couldn't be happier. i like you am only going to get ones that i like or are amazingly sick. Hope there aren't not toooo many though .ha

Amy Lynn said...

We live in a 1BR on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and while it's not tiny, our wall space is very limited. So, we've got Smokey, and we'll hold out for maybe one more that screams at me to buy it.

Zort70 said...

Right, I'm going to pick some apples from our trees, when I get back I expect a new clue.

Unknown said...

Did I miss what the pink monster clue had to do with a stadium in Argentina?

AndySchex said...

Clue #1 was designed by DGPH who also did a piece of art representing the barrio Parque Patricios in Buenos Aires. In that, there is a balloon and the word "Huracan". The Huracans, whose mascot is a balloon, is a soccer team located in Parque Patricios. The brick wall might be the wall of the stadium they play at.

Unknown said...

Aw gotcha. Thanks!

Just found this on twitter:
http://twitter.com/futbol_huracan

Looks like a new account

Zort70 said...

Interesting find, it would be quite a coincidence if the team found Twitter at the same time as the reveal.

I'm disappointed that no clue has arrived since I was gone.

Mrs Z said...

I know, I went out to lunch thinking there would definitely be one when I got back, but no luck. Argh!

Scoutpost said...

Well this is interesting. Wonder if there's a problem in Buenos Aires?

Amy Lynn said...

Or maybe just they don't want the clue more than 24 hours in advance, so it'll go up tonight?

MJCarp said...

Since we have TIME to contemplate. I looked up soccer/football connections over at Lostpedia. There are plenty to be found. Desmond seems to be key in many either running at stadium, watching on TV (Apollo Bar, Oceanic Air & Mr. Cluck's ads). Des was making his own kind of music in the bar "Graybridge comes back from 2 goals down in the final 2 minutes and …" predicting outcome of game.

Sayid and Eko also have connections.

And for ARG followers of DJ Dan there is a reference to Hanso running a 'tour de stade.'

I'm not seeing any direct connections with P. Scheer's posting but will look again. Frame 6 and 7 were telegraphed fairly well thru PS blog post.

I'm following the Huracan (Hurricanes) tweet.
