What in the world are you doin with that toe nail clipper? gee wiz, sending out a boy to do a mans job! These shipping tubes have been known to thwart the likes of Yuri Geller. So I went and got me a band saw with a diamond encrusted fine tooth ( 108 teeth per inch) blade..of off e-bay you know. It was a really good deal but the freight from Toledo made it a break even proposition..anyway..sure enough, it makes quick work of these tubes..I gotta be careful tho..almost cut off Hurley's head on the first try. Thank goodness for the neighbors dog. He howls everytime I start up the saw. I guess his ears are sensitive to all those diamonds wizzing thru the air..so anyway,,the neighbors now say.. I guess MEL got another print in the mail, there goes beauregard off howlin at the moon again....MEL

nice job on the openning and congrats!

I will try to get a shot of me opening one for you one day too.

I hope it is ok with you, I added a banner link to LostARGs.com on DCaaPB.com

lol...I had trouble with opening the container until I realized using a boxcutter on the horizontal band of tape that covers the shipping label and the seam in the outer shell. Now I just slide the boxcutter around that seam, and it slides open like butta'

So glad that your poster finally arrived Zort!

Seriously, like Organic said, you only have to use a razor or exacto around the bottom of the "cap" that is about midway into the shipping label. :o)

Thanks for the link Rev

I had to really think hard how to open that gosh-darn tube until I figured it's like a tube within a tube!

I got my LU Class of 2010 t-shirt today! I'm building up quite a collection with the Hurley one yesterday!

Great pics. Now how to frame it without making it look like some crappy MC Escher prints I have from my college days (I thought I was so cool...). Seriously, I would like to nicely frame "The Crash" with some custom matting that still allows print number and signature to be seen. But I don't want Michael's "mounting" it on foam board backing first. I'm curious what framing solutions you all have come up with.

maven said...

Sandman90: I just bought a 18x24 frame from Michael's (nice black) and did it myself. The signature and print # were visible. I didn't mount it on anything.

Those darn tubes within a tube will get you every time! Look at me for example, as a degree holder in Doctorin from the Honduran School of Fine Medicenery, I was told by email from a good professor down there , that i should practice my surgery skills a couple of times a year so not to lose the knack of it. So The Statue is waiting for me at the door today when I get home and a quick run to Home Depot is all it takes for some revitalizing. A carpet knife with a ten pack of blades ought to do it I figured. Well I got half way around that tube and only used three blades, so I guess I was getting a little giddy, lost my focus, and out jumped the blade from that precision incision I was makin. Good thing I changed outta my work pants and was wearing my real work pants cuz I cut a slice right across the top of the right thigh of it. I took a peak into that cut and owwww..i got myself too. But..HEY!! I got a degree in this kinda stuff, so I went and got the home button sewing kit out and 11 really well done , beautiful stitches later , I'm as good as new, I'm so proud of myself. And I didn't get any blood on the print either. Nice Print it is..The glossy black is alot darker than the computer screen showed it. I really like the unique way the artist conveyed Time. Pretty clever and imaginative. Speakin of Time I gotta get movin around abit. The ole leg is gettin a bit stiff, so I better get it some exercise..Maybe I'll go up the stairs or something......MEL

Thanks Maven. I'll have to look at those. On a similar note, I've found that all of the released art can be enjoyed as wallpaper on my iphone.

Signing off until Tuesday - will be out of town taking a much dreaded professional exam. Zort, great job with this site - it's a great resource and a lot of fun. I'll be rejoining the land of the living on Tuesday and look forward to reading everyone's musings on the next art reveal. Hopefully, I will not have missed it! Wish me luck. Good hunting!

Good luck Sandman90!

I have taken up the cause at DarkUFO/LostARG to help keep track of poster numbers, gifts, letter, event reveals etc. So, if you are inclined, please hop over and add your information. Please use "The OFFICIAL DCaaPB Poster List" The original thread will be merged (technical stuff). If you know of any other group keeping lists (thank you Jacob), let me know.

Anybody want to order me a LU freshman t-shirt? I'll give you all the info...I've tried several times from 3 different computers and it just won't go through. I have no idea what the deal is.

Scoutpost said...

Karen @ Karen's LOST notebook is putting together an LU class photo. The details are here.

Amy Lynn said...

That's a cute idea. I really want to buy a shirt, but if they aren't going to do anything for us non Blu Ray people, I don't know how badly I want it, you know?

maven said...

Thanks for the heads up, Scoutpost! Karen's come up with a great idea!

Zort70 said...

Thanks for the info, I've added a link on the LU T-Shirt post.

I would buy you a t-shirt if it didn't have to come via the UK and back again.

MJCarp said...

Scoutpost, dm me at twitter feed Lottery_Ticket and I will get you a t-shirt ordered! You must be in the class photo!

That's my teenage son in photo.

Anyway,,while we're waiting around for next clue..I commented elsewhwere about how the DharmaVan print under UV,,reminded me of a coffin,,which sparked a link in backgammon's memory,,that in the orient,,famous people when they die, their Van is covered in plants and flowers..So the Dharma Van print is actually a Hearse,,explaining the hidden skull business,,and of course,,is great metaphor for the " end " that the DI met at the hands of ben and Richard...I still say that print is a great one. The more I look at it the more I know why...MEL

When's the new clue coming?

It better be soon.

That's neat about the van Mel. Do we know the website of the artist to ask about that?

Scoutpost said...

I'm ready for a new clue, though I feel we'll have to wait a bit.

Anonymous said...

Cap..methanestudios.com is our print maker..but who inside?...I am happy livin with what I got..Its a great play in opposites..the Dharma VW Van as a hearse for its own kind..or..owners..Kinda gets involved in the Darlton question of..what is death?...on Lost anyway. Even Zort there skirts death with that omni OSHA Head Gear..I don't know whats funnier..the chain saw or the head gear!! ,,and ,,oh yea, thanks Zort for your concern about the leg. Thats what Duct Tape is for, double duty!..Seal up the slash real good like and keeps the leg attached. Only the best for me!...MEL

Anonymous said...

..ya kno..i'm lookin at that foto of Zort there,,and was wonderin why not the next shot,,of success!..Then I looked at it again and figured out why not..See,,despite all the safety precaution of our host and ring leader, he,,he forgot about one little thing. Well, it ain't little anymore, see, the tube there, is unsecured..just sittin there nothin holding it down. Now the chain saw chain coming around the top with all those little sharks teeth at speed, they grab into that cardboard tube and,,zoom,, off it goes..and we can see that the chainsaw has a hand guard and all, so Zorts hands are just fine I suspect. But look where the bottom of the chain saw is pointing and maybe you can understand why we ain't seeing Zort with a successful open tube shot.
Now I understand your concern for my leg Zort,,and believe me I return your concern as well. I hear two bags of frozen peas are usually all it takes to make everything right again. ..MEL

New Clue

MJCarp said...

Geez. Any ideas?

maven said...

Yippee! A new clue. Is that anime?

MJCarp said...

my teen son doesn't recognize.

maven said...

Don't even know where to begin to look!

MJCarp said...

I'm looking for image, pink viking cartoon, anime,

That darn green mountain with snow looks familiar.

children's book?

Unknown said...

This is pissing me off. It looks familiar, but I can't quite place it. It took me a while to find it, but it reminds me of the toy machine (skateboarding) logo, but that doesn't seem to lead anywhere.

maven said...

Is that pink or purple? Is there a flame coming out of it's back? Is that a building on the left?

MJCarp said...

night. can't stay awake. good luck.

Unknown said...

If you notice, the monster is darker on the left than the right, almost like this is a picture taken with a camera and that's a shadow or the picture going away from you.

maven said...

I'm at a loss with this vague clue. Good night...please solve it by the morning! LOL

Unknown said...

Another odd thing to note - the file is "F8Picture2". I've tried a bunch of combinations, but no luck if there is a picture/hint 1.

I'm trying to figure out who the artist might be, especially by focusing on the eyes since they're somewhat distinctive. The one thing they remind me of are the Nike print ads they were running a year or two ago (especially in comic books). They had little orange blobs with similar eyes, but I can't remember the product, and I'm not near my comics to remind myself. Does anyone else remember this, or do I just need to go to bed?
