Seasonal Celebrations and Competition News 288

What a few months it has been, a wild ride with ups, downs and a few sideways shunts.

I don't think anyone expected, including myself, this ARG / Non ARG / Viral Campaign / Art Project to be so big and involve so many people across the globe.

It is all over, true, however just because it is over does not mean that things will stop entirely. Things will slow down admittedly, but remember to check back or follow us on Twitter to keep up with what is happening.

Coming up, as well as any follow ups to the Art project including any artist interviews we can arrange, there will be any Lost University news, and any other marketing information leading up to the final season.

We have mentioned that there will be a few prizes to give out soon, well in order to do this we want your help. As something to do during the holidays what we want is for you to send some LOST trivia questions.

The outline plan is to use these questions as qualifying questions for giveaways. So we need questions that are not obvious, but are not so hard that no one will get the answer.

Send your trivia question and the answer to admins(at)lostargs(dot)com, put the words "LOST Trivia" in the subject line, and we will use as many as we can as part of the competition. If anyones question is used they will get an automatic entry into the draw for the item being given away. If we get duplicate questions then the first one receieved will be used.

For now Happy Christmas, Happy Holidays and Namaste

And to you Amy Lynn!

Great stuff Zort, our question heads are on. (well, as soon as my grocery shopping head is off in an hour or so).

Merry LOSTmas to the LOSTArg community!

Peace to you this holiday season.

Tess315 said...

This will be like when we had to make our own tests in DWY. We all ended up making trivia tests.

Now did I save those tests? hmmm lol

Happy Holidays to you all.

Tess315 said...

Well I saved the links to all the tests that I took. Unfortunately their dead. lol

I knew I should have copied the questions. lol

I still have my test though maybe one of my qestions will work. :)

It's nice to have a post to acknowledge the season. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to all who celebrate.

Here's hoping for Peace in the coming year even if it's only in the comments!

Happy, happy Argeteers.

Happy Holidays everyone.

Yes, Merry Christmas everyone! Be safe, warm, and well fed.

Thanks for the brain work to keep us in top form through the holidays, Zort. I guess that I'd better not kill too many brains cells. :-) Nice tree on the front too.

"God bless, us every one" :-x

Capcom said...

Awesome SG! Chose your viewing wisely now, heheh.

I just submitted five quality questions...

Zort70 said...

Thanks for the questions, I've updated the main post to say can people send the answer as well.

I'm fairly sure I'll be able to find them, but it would be good to double check :-)

Don't worry about the answer to your first question Ben I think I can handle that one.

comixguru said...

Happy Holidays everyone!

And Charter- just saw your post on the previous thread- thank you. :)

I also just watched the G4 piece- it made me smile seeing everyone wearing my Namaste nametags :) Also fun seeing my gf and many familiar faces in it. And I love that Damon and Carlton are still so down to earth and humble- and said that they still have time to screw up the best show on TV :)

I'll see if i can think of any good trivia questions while on holiday. Cheers and good times to all. I'll pop in to say hello when i can! :)

Namaste- alice.

Sandman90 said...

@sayid's girl - Congrats on the Nielson family - I've always wanted to do that.

Will be taking several days off traveling for the holidays and will check in occasionally with my iphone but like Martyn, will not likely be posting much. AT&T coverage is generally pretty terrible in the Ozarks. I wish you all safe travels and good times in whatever holidays you celebrate. For my part, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Drama said...

yes, I thought you might be able to! I sent answers to all the other. They vary in the medium difficulty range, but none are too hard, I don't think.

it's a slow day, so I sent five more. I love setting quizzes.

My happy holiday wishes too- finally starting to get in the singing mood. Charter, that was a nice post-hope LT will see it.

I'm trying to think of not too obvious trivia- but I may not know anything not obvious:)

We WANT to know all the answers-
We WANT to know all the answers-
We WANT to know all the answers-

Thanks for the Holiday post, Zort, and for something else to keep us busy (or busier)! Thinking caps are on and research will begin!

@charter: Thanks for your comment in the previous post...this whole issue has been very troubling for me. Hopefully, we can all move on. ( ^) to my friend)

Dear All - Happy Holidays to all of you! I hope all your wishes come true! :)

Charter - Thank you so much for turning things in a positive direction. I didn't want to make any public comment before, due to the negative tone, but as I said at the reveal, I would like to resolve this with you. :) Feel free to contact me (maybe after the holidays if that's cool?) via email. Thanx again for your openness! Namaste - Mib

Zort - you are still the patron saint of patience! :) Thanks for all you do - what a good 'Dad' you've been to all of us - good times & bad :). I could take a parenting lesson from you, now and again. :) - Mib

flotto's name change is awesome! It's crazy at work (doctors office)and these posts help keep me from stressing. I was really sad to read that lotto wouldn't be posting anymore, little did I know that we would have such a lively proxy!

MeSoCrazy said...

My insomnia has finally served a purpose other than to not let me sleep. I think I almost kind of, not sure, but am going with it anyway, caught up.

First just want to say a quick thank you Amy Lynn for teaching me how to spell.

Oh how I've missed my daily LostArgs planet. This has been where I eat, sleep and drink like a sailor since Locke's Secret. I'm just teasing, clearly I don't sleep and really who here did during poster clues other than Zort? It was craptastic that the final reveal was the first one I actually didn't get to experience as it landed on very busy work day and personal stuff (I don't understand why things of that nature don't realize the importance of LOST and posters, I mean it sounds so rational as I type it) that I missed most of the streaming from LT and Rev (saw it later but not live which I should be used to living on the west coast, we never get anything 'live'). And then of all things, work, which normally I *cough*do while I LostArg*cough* has been insane and will continue to be so for the next two weeks (my DVR doesn't even remember me when I called out for it).

So short not story long. I missed a lot and LostArg friends which I will go ahead and call you without asking for permission because I learned long ago to not do that because I will likely get turned down, so, friends, I've missed you, and the shenanigans that you or is it me, someone, I think, that this place brings.

Funny thing, well not funny in a ha ha way, so not really funny, I'm just using that to get to my next thought, this was supposed to be a short post. And oh how I know you all wish it had been. I will try to poke my head in through out this busy week just so you won't forget me. Because you would, and I can't have that happen. Anyways, it's like I lost my sack lunch and decided oh I'll just sit here and eat all of yours. (Yep that sentence made no sense when I typed it and should make no sense when you read it).

I wanted to wish you all a very happy holidays. This place has been such a great and wonderful place to be socrazy. I just saw a reindeer so I must go. No, that was just a big dog.

ChrisL said...

Missed you MeSoCrazy :-)

Made my annual visit to the Disney lot to drop off presents from my boss. Waved to the LOST production office. Took a picture of the big LOST poster on the side of one of the studio buildings.

Jensen just tweeted:

"Just got another 150 Olly Moss LOST tees in the gallery for sale. Walk in sales only."

MeSoCrazy said...

If only the walk wasn't 100's and 100's and then some thousands of miles away. Although with all the holiday treats I could use the exercise...

Wait I'm supposed to be working.

Zort I'm excited for the competition. I would send in questions but 1, they'd only be about Jack, and two, they'd probably be just about how hot he is, which I'm not sure is what you are looking for. I'm not really helpful. In any way.

Zort70 said...

MeSoCrazy, a Jack hotness poll wouldn't be top of my agenda :-)

MeSoCrazy said...

Didn't think so, which is why I will not be sending any 'questions.'

Seriously I'm getting sucked right back in. And it's primarily me talking, which I can do in my head, without disrupting my work. Man on man.

Amy Lynn said...

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all feel exhaust
And I think I was watching the Blu-Rays of LOST
My posters were framed, and the tubes made a raft
I dreamt of an island, near no winter draft
Ben Linus would greet me with Arabic phrase
While Locke would arise and set hatches ablaze
And Hurley with his chicken, and Jack with his beard
were driving the van when old Richard appeared
The Others looked on as he greeted his minions
He then turned to Ben and said, "no more opinions"
"I can't have you helping that psycho in black,
so go to Tunisia or make friends with Jack."
The sky went all purple, the ground shook with fear
and the sound of a taxi receipt I could hear
When, who from the barracks should enter my dream
but a Santa-clad Tom and his barefooted regime
As they hooted and hollered, then came to a halt
I asked them what hormones they'd shot into Walt
So Sawyer said, "Einstein, it's only TV"
and he whistled for something that no one could see
"Now Chico, Now Freckles, Now Blondie and Twitchy
Come Jabba! Come A-rab, before Kate gets bitchy,
To the statue we'll go, to get inside those toes
As my nose bled, so we went, so the dream goes
For a constant requires something solid and sure
when the timeline gets craziest, just to endure
So off to the statue the bunch of us flew
with a turnip, a dog, and the pilot (part two)
Up front, with a whinney, appeared a black horse,
a boar with a vengeance, a dad with remorse.
I looked for Sayid, who could torture and scare
But the dead Pakistani was no longer there.
There were rabbits galore, though I counted just eight
And a polar bear collar, which made me irate
A rumor of sharks circled all round the camp,
But LaFleur made it clear to us all who was champ
And Ben - how he shivered, his essence so haunted
His voice held a catch but his will was undaunted
His wide open gaze focused in on the beach
Where that old magic box lay just out of our reach
The daughter he'd raised, that he'd nabbed from Danielle,
she was lying by Karl in their final farewell.
The island was grand with some caves in the middle
that housed Adam, Eve, and their time travelling riddle
We were strangers and friends, and Jack said, with a groan
That we best stick together than bite it alone
I saw a balloon, and a bright yellow plane,
but more lost I got as it started to rain
And Frogurt spoke up, as the night was quite dire
But soon met his maker, a long stick of fire
One hundred eight minutes I spent in this place,
Not once got a glimpse of that Aussie girl's face
They said she'd run off, and abandoned her baby
But the cabin was gone, so my best guess is maybe
I awoke with a start, like I needed a fix
Merry Christmas to all, and a great season six!

Sent my cousin to the Gallery last night and he picked up a t-shirt for me. They did not let him use my credit card over the phone, so it is in fact still walk-in sales only. HOWEVER, they did have all sizes again - not just XS and XL. Not sure if they're still x/815 or an unnumbered batch (forgot to ask).

Also, they still have 1/1 's (w/Darlton's sigs) of The Numbers, Love Triangle and Walt's Kidnapping still available.

@Zort - OK, I guess no surprises with the poll results, although I suppose it showed us where "LOST" ranks with the rest of the pack. I'm going to try to find some sort of blogger-compatible widget that lets people rank a list of things and hopefully we can do a ranking poll on a slow day.

@AmyLynn - awesome work! Also, that promo ad on Columbus has been there for a few weeks now. The picture says it all - not sure it's worth a specific trip over there.

I am considering going to Hawaii! Trying to talk my husband into it...he's watches the show, but will never be as crazy as I am about it. I'll work on him all weekend and, hopefully, call the agent that has the great package deal on Monday!

Everyone have a wonderful Holiday with your family and friends.

Just looked at the poster and it was absolutely fantastic, the resolution on it is fantastic, you can read the tinniest of words, if your eyes can handle it. Should of bought the frame when I ordered it as I now have to wait until Sunday to buy it but, my goodness, it looks good.

Here's a link to a snapshot I took of it. Put it away for now and I think one snapshot is enough considering it's freely available to everyone but I am mightily impressed by it Zort and can't wait to hang it! Thank you!

@REALMEL...

Better make your mind up quick on Hawaii if you want that package, they said they had almost run of rooms. But then again, she could of just been rushing me to pay for it. I dunno.

To all a Merry Christmas, a Happy 2010 and all the luck in the world!!!

And for all who are going to Hawaii, hopefully see you there!!!

comixguru said...

@Martyn what is the site with the Hawaii info? Also, if you buy a package, are you guaranteed admission to the screening?

ObFuSc8 said...

Jensen and G1988 just got the LOST photo cake I sent them! Will post any pics I get.

It is a half sheet red velvet cake with the black velvet DCaaPB in a corner and I think The Crash on the rest of the cake.

LostiePat said...

@Dan - thank you for the info about the remaining 1/1 posters . . . I just called Jensen and purchased The Love Triangle! He said he cannot sell the t-shirts over the phone for legal reasons. He sounded very disappointed about it.

@MEL - please pass along my regards to Lotto. I will miss you, Lotto!

And to Spy Hill Skates and German LostARGS - I was born in Stuttgart and my mother's family is from Pirmasens (near K-Town). Fröhliche Weihnachten!

Martyn said...

@Comixguru...

No, i'm pretty sure you don't get a guarantee to get in to the screening but there's no restriction to the amount of people there, just seats and tables, but if you're on the beach, who cares, right?

The package includes hotel, flights in some cases, airport transfer, lei greeting, a meal friday night, brunch saturday afternoon and a exclusive LOST set tour on sunday. Here's the link for you, too tired to hyperlink though, sorry.

Hope to see you there alice, have a good one!

@ObFuSc8, that cake sounds amazing! Look forward to the pics.

Have to prepare various goodies for Santa with Jnr now as the Norad Santa tracker suggests he should be in the UK soon. I'm hoping he might bring me a Lockes Secret but I'm prepared for the fact it may be socks instead... Have a fabulous Christmas day all.

Cake sounds cool - you spoil them Ob!
Stunning day here - food prep all done, time for some rewatch eps before lunch main meal!

Ha ha -- kiwi, it's fitting ad the whole thing ended on Christmas Eve. Christmas spirit and all and The Constant in LOST timeline.

OMG! I just tentatively booked that package for the LOST Premiere! (Hubby is sick today, so I don't want to bother him with the details.) It is a fabulous deal. Bruce, the travel agent and friend of Ryan & Jen, said they are trying to figure out how to reserve space on the beach for the premiere. (We know what saving a space in line can lead to!) Hubby's not such a crazy fan as me and I think he's coming to just humor me! :)

kiwilostie said...

Maven, he'd be crazy not to want to got to Hawaii for a vacation! Sounds like there will be a bunch of you going now, that 'know' each other! Fantastic!

Dan said...

@Pat - congrats! I was shocked that any of these were still available. My cousin apparently picked up Waaaaaaaalt's Kidnapping this morning after mulling it over all night last night.

Jensen just posted a pic of the cake ObFuSc8 sent on behalf of Lost Fans. Awesome cake!

@TKI - Yeah, someone else with the Ben print had the same problem on EB. Though the rest of my posters were all the right size. Not to say one of the ones I don't have isn't different, but I've got a lot of them.

Amy, I'd measure your BL print before you buy the frame!

ObFuSc8 that's a really great cake, and a very nice thought for Jensen.

fantastic shirt Chris !! Love it. Christmas is over here, kids are gone for the day, Joey at his fathers and Justin is out at more parties (he's 23 now) Kevin is doing well after his surgery that was done Wednesday. I'll be glad when the pain is gone so I can get some sleep instead of getting up every 4 hours for pain meds. It amazes me how the VA will send some one home in such pain ! But now that the house is quiet I can catch a wink between pain meds if needed. Love ya all, hope your day was fantastic and you got all you wanted. I'm going to try out my LU tonight on my new Blue Ray player with my new DVD's :-)

ChrisL said...

He he (I mean HO HO) Rob, that would have been even better!

Lisa, sorry to hear K is in such pain, that's no way to spend Christmas day. Pass on our wishes. Have fun with LU now you're all Blu-Ray'd up!

A Joyous Day to All!
I received a special, to me, Gift this year. A tad early and without wrap and bows, sender unknown, maybe. Words pop into my head that way. These words though, have a reality of them, first conceived and put forth by the person who's birth we celebrate today and echoed through out history with new dimensions to them added along the way, as recently as by the original Surrealists. The Gift is more than the words, its the actual reality of them. The Gift,,i have witnessed here amongst us all and continue to do so. Its wonderful to behold.

If there be any wrapping around the Gift it would be the words,," May LOVE find its way into all You do."The Gift, itself though,is the reality of those words I have experienced here , with all things ARG. The Beauty of it, All are connected to.

Thank you All so very much. I look forward to the New Year.

It's official: We're going to the Premiere Party in Hawaii! Booking the Destiny Calls Package today!!! My husband was going to humor me, but after I explained the itinerary and all the details, he's very excited too and looking forward to it! This is the best belated-Hanukkah gift!!!

Amy Lynn said...

maven, that's so awesome. Every time I think about going, I keep reminding myself that

a) I wouldn't like watching LOST in a big crowd and
b) I'll be able to spend more money in Disney World if I don't blow it all in Hawaii

ChrisL said...

Maven, that's seriously Merry Christmas!!! Congrats, you'll have an amazing time and hubby will be soooo pleased you convinced him.

maven said...

@AmyLynn: I'm not to excited about seeing the Premiere on a giant screen with 1,000 other people, either! LOL We're getting home on Mon the 1st and will be scrutinizing the Premiere on our own 73" HD screen in the privacy of our home (in peace and quiet)!

Merry Christmas All -

As most of us have found it somewhat difficult to explain to family members & friends exactly the Lost poster hunt is and was, I thought I'd share a story from today.

After all the Christmas gifts were opened my 9-year old niece had one more surprise for me... my very own limited edition Christmas poster.

Check it out here.

I was over on Thanksgiving weekend which was also when the Polar Bear print went up for sale. I scored the print & my niece was just as excited as I was. Although she couldn't understand why a Polar Bear would be on a tropical island because as she put it "they live at the North Pole with Santa", she was happy that her Uncle got the poster.

This morning as I opened her poster, she said it would go nice with the Polar Bear so he would feel at home with a Santa poster near it.

She may not understand Lost, but she does understand her Uncle and that's ultimately what family is about.

May you all have had a moment or two today to spend time with loved ones that understand you as well.

*<:-)>

Amy Lynn said...

JPL, that's a WONDERFUL story. You're niece is a real sweetheart!

ChrisL said...

JPL, that is indeed a heartwarming story. Sounds as though you had a precious few moments there. Kids are amazing.

My heartwarming poster story today was the look on my sons face when he opened our gift to him of a framed copy of The Barracks, (yes, he loved that one too!). He hadn't managed to get a single one of the prints and was gutted so I took advantage of the very reasonable prices of that one and picked it up for him. He was ecstatic and has had a beaming smile all day.

Just ended our Christmas day with a family re-watch of "316" and ""The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham".The perfect end to a great day.

:-)

All these Christmas stories related to LOST and the Posters are certainly heartwarming!

Sounds like you had the perfect day, ChrisL!

There's finally a Locke's secret t shirt on ebay. Do you all think it's worth $100? I'm thinking of bidding but i'm not sure yet.

ObFuSc8 said...

Just getting ready to try to get to bed before work tomorrow. Had a wonderful Christmas with family and I hope all my ARG peeps have had the same opportunity. My sister helped Mom and my Aunt snag me Jay Ryan for The Polar Bear -- I was surprised and thrilled.

I gave my Danger print to my brother along with one of the Locke's Secret Tshirts. Depending on the sizes that fits others I bought for, I may have a large left, and will post back here if/when I do. Katie, that $100 certainly seems steep for a $25 Tshirt.

We watched I Love You, Man -- and there was a line about LOST s2 DVD's and finding out what went on in the Hatch -- I laughed out loud!

ChrisL, sorry I meant little as in age, not LOSTness. I love that you had LOST Christmas and that you do a family rewatch.

JPL -- your niece is adorable and your Polar Bear will love the Santa she so generously made you.

Maven -- Ho'omaika'i 'ana (Congratulations, or so I am told) I'm sure you'll have a blast! You are all really tempting me find a way to go too!

Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays) to all and to all a good night!

kiwilostie said...

Nice to read all the great stories from the day.
Some time off work is allowing me to speed through my rewatch! Really liking the connections from S1 to S5 - helps having seen it all before, but none the less, brilliant!

Hello Everybody! With season 6 just 38 days ahead (even less at Waikiki beach) I thought I dropped some thought food regarding parallel universes for you.

Honoring our host Zort, here is the link to part one of an excellent BBC documentary about the issue on youtube…

thorsten said...

And this is David Deutsch… I guess I will give him a call ;))

'Knowing that parallel universes are there gives us a framework for understanding what it means to chose something'

ObFuSc8 said...

Thanks Thorsten! I remember seeing the TED clip when it posted last month. Some of us have wondered if at least part of Smokey is a quantum computer of sorts -- at one point there was a thread at the ABC forum.

Awesome Cake! Red velvet no less! Did Jensen mean to point to DCaaPB.com, because I have not sent him the TY beer yet. If he got confused, I will sign your name to the package I send :)

Happy day after Xmas everyone!

I think I am going to designate today as "Toy Minefield day" - or "Put your shoes as you get out of bed if you have a toddler" day. (toddler safe toys include a startling number of pointy wooden things!)

Thorsten,
in your honor, I am eating some Nurnberger lebkuchen with my coffee. :)

Good morning all, it has been a bright sunny day here. Melted most of the ice and snow.

I'm just relieving our fridge of some of the burden it is currently carrying.

MJCarp said...

thorsten, Ob_, Rev, cake, string theory, beer, honey bread, pointy wooden things, and NO AC2 - heady stuff for the early hours. I'm twisted and conflicted as you can see by my image. Shall I embrace a "choice" or eat and be merry. Today, I'll choose the sweet stuff and leave alternate time line for you to discuss.

Happy Toy Minefield Day to all at Lostarg Blog!

Thorsten, Thanks for the parallel universe links, Jnr and I will settle down to those once I've followed Zorts fine example and approached the fridge with a mixture of awe and trepidation.

The awesome LOST poster that Jim McLeod created is now available for sale! The original link to the poster on Jim's blog was posted by someone many threads ago on November 14.

I emailed him as soon as I saw it, begging him to consider printing it. I received an email this morning that he had done a limited edition of 50,three-color screen print and it was for sale. I purchased it as soon as I read the email. It will be a spectacular addition to my LOST print collection. I think it is more awesome than some of the prints in the official series. Link is below if anyone else is so inclined.
You All, Everybody

Oops - spelled his name wrong -Jim MacLeod is the artist. Sorry, Jim

LostiePat said...

@Thorsten - thank you for the videos. I have been intrigued by parallel universe theory for quite some time. The BBC documentary contains many familiar images (the question mark) and the phrase "mysteries of the universe." I have a whole new appreciation for where LOST may be going. S6 will be a blast to watch!

ChrisL said...

andalone, thanks for the link. It's a pretty good piece the MacLeod, (and it includes Juliet which is always a good thing as far as I'm concerned ;-)), but I need to save all of my poster money as I've decided I'm officially in the market for a Rousseau's Transmission, the only one of the 16 I didn't get but REALLY want.
