Announcement - Statue Auction Fun Raiser 134

This is a very generous thing for Lottery Ticket to do and I am led to believe the statue will have some added value when it is up for auction. The Jay & Jack podcast is a great fan run LOST podcast which has won numerous awards.

I also want to say a personal thankyou to Lottery Ticket for this and all the hard work over the last few months it is much appreciated.

wow Lottery Tickey, how fantastic ! what a great way to end the show with something fantastic like this. And what a great cause to make the benefit for. My nephew has Autism and I think it's always a worthy cause. Thanks for doing that.

LT, That is amazing! And your nails too!

(repost from last comments section)

Hey everyone, first of all I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU!!!! to everyone for the support with my fan print! I Really appreciate all of the kind words and support! So far it's been a huge success and I'll continue as long as the interest is there.

I just did a "making of" post on DamonCarltonAndMe.com. I know a lot of you like to hear the artist's thoughts and see the creative process, so I took some screenshots while I was working on it. Check it out if you'd like. Also, if you still want a poster, there's a few still available. This week we have a guest artist release, so stay tuned to the site!

@KharmaInitiative - great find on the portfolio! I think i'll pick one of those up! Thanks!

Zort70 said...

Lisa, great costume very authentic.

Nice donation - when and where is the auction?

Attorney Greg said...

Nevermind - I guess I should not have skimmed over the whole coming in March bit . . .

Thanks for doing this LT! It's great to hear about more auctions of LOST items and the proceeds going to charities. Great way to spread awareness, help people/organizations out, and for LOST fans who couldn't get to Los Angeles have a chance at some of the swag.

Ellen B said...

OK, friends, I need your help (no jokes, please)! I have purchased 15 of the 16 posters, some Lost art pieces from Gallery 1988, and a Locke tshirt through our own auction (and a number of other tshirts, mugs, etc). But I still don't have poster #16. If you know of a source that won't completely break my bank, please get in touch with me at ellen dot blackmun at gmail dot com. Thank you, and now back to your previously scheduled program. :)

PS: LT, I wish I had nails like you have! :)

LT, It is very nice of you to donate the above item. And a worthy cause. I think it would be a great idea (more work for someone!) if there were a place where people might be able to list details for events where they may be donating prints or other LOST swag to raise money for charities (and not the Human Fund). Comixguru's recent t-shirt comes to mind as well as this donation by LT. I suspect that when people take inventory of their recent acquisitions they may wish to part with some to the benefit of others - both a charitable cause and the LOSTie hoping to obtain that item. Such things are really a win-win situation for everyone. As I am not particularly tech-savvy and almost completely website ignorant, perhaps someone else might integrate such a posting section on an existing website. It might be easier to look in one place instead of reading through hundreds of comments. Just thinking...

MJCarp said...

Good morning.

Sandman90. The fan base for the Jay & Jack show is primarily LOST fans. They are accepting items for auction and will have the vehicle (mostly likely eBay) for this event. I will post details as I know them. This will be the third annual Autism Speaks podcast. It is fun, funny and really funny. Mr. Garcia has called in for a chat in the past and suspect he will again this year. It is a Ustream production, so you can chat away like we did for the LA show with other LOST fans. The dates are March 20-21.

http://www.jayandjack.com

or e-mail: lostpodcast@gmail.com

facebook and Twitter links are available too.

Look for a post from Zort to answer some of your other questions.

We didn't intend to have a comment section here as he mentioned above so chat away on any topic. I think we will get back to our poll and Mori v. Vanitas conversations soon.

Wonderful morning to wake up to the generosity of others. Such a sweet, thoughtful thing to do, Lottery Ticket! Those statues are very awesome, and it must be tough to give it up although it's for a worthy cause. And to second Zort and everyone else, a big thank you for being such a strong presence during the Poster Reveals...you were like the Mother Hen keeping track of everything, making sure people knew who to follow at the reveals, and trying to document everything (going through the line and getting everyone's name/user name and emails so we knew who was there). Lists are always important! :) One of my highlights of the experience was meeting you in person!

I was kinda worried about you because I hadn't "seen" you around lately...sorry to hear you were sick...hope you're all better now for the holidays!

maven said...

Also: Happy Birthday to AndyShex!

MJCarp said...

Ellen B, I'm wishing you 'nails' for Christmas. Actually, this is the only time of year where they look respectable as I am a gardener. My hands are on vacation when the snows fly.

Brendan said...

Um, shouldn't you have donated this to Charter?

MeSoCrazy said...

Holy balogne I have missed so much I don't think I'll be able to catch up. Hopefully I can. And I have no idea how to spell balogne. It's not a word.

Amy Lynn said...

@MeSo... bologna. Or baloney.

MJCarp said...

maven, thank you, that Mother Hen comment reminded me about the "chicken hat" - so a little background. I sat like a hen on a bench at the rendezvous MEL and I prearranged. He got stuck on a tarmac as we now know. The Pier in the early hours certainly had it's moments. I circled a hat kiosk several times before looking up. And there was a Mr. Cluck's hat! Hmmm. . . funny, not funny? Knowing that we would miss our 'orange' beach shot and the Kate sinking moment, I opted for a little Hurly fun. Got a great shot of Dennis wearing the hat (my fav pic of the night). It is now trucking its way to Hawaii for Mr. Garcia to sign. If it makes it back in time, it will also go up for auction at J&J Show. So, if anyone wants a used chicken hat worn by Dennis and I (woot!) and signed by Mr. Garcia look for it at the show. I'll see if I can get Jack to don and sign as well.

The list is about to have it's own little fun, and I will make that announcement in the new year.

Zort70 said...

Brendan, I believe Charter has said that it isn't about swag or the statue.

As I said before it is a personal matter between the people involved.

When / if there is a resolution to everyones satisfaction then we can post the details here, until then please leave them to discuss it privately.

Amy Lynn said...

Brendan, there's actually a public-ish discussion going on about that on another board, which comixguru has responded to, I think to charter's satisfactory.

chaseter said...

Brendan, sure I would love to have it, but knowing those less fortunate will benefit from this is enough for me not to accept it.

Amy and Brendan, I have deleted your two comments, please do not stir things up.

I am not on anyones side, but calling people names does not help anyone.

Joe D said...

so is this Taweret or is it Sobek? Weren't these labeled as Sobek by the artists? Does this mean we have multiple statues on the island?

Zort70 said...

Good question Joe, this may be one of those things the writers are seeding for us to make clear when we watch the final episodes.

thorsten said...

Narf. I will get a bottle widow clicquot if Sobek turns up. From Lostpedia, no less!

Roxanna said...

Just had to make a quick comment.

This is a great cause, LT!
I actually teach children with Autism. They are a blessing :)

Joe D said...

It just seemed so strange that Michael Emerson reported it as taweret, ABC reported it as taweret, but then it was labeled as Sobek at the gallery. This being LOST, you are correct ZORT, I should not be surprised if TPTB gave a bit of misdirection one way or another. I'm just excited to learn about it!

Scoutpost said...

Hope you're feeling better soon LT!

I'm so happy for this donation. Some of you from TLC know my 8 year old son has autism. Thanks LT for making the donation!

Martyn said...

Ok, not missed much except something i don't understand so i'm back in the game!

Really concerned for my Polar Bear poster, taking a long long time to arrive.

Sandman90...

Check out Justin's poster site, not a bad poster bought it knowing full well I have no money and nowhere to put it. Just the virus of the last few weeks still kicking around. Sounds ideal for you too!

Martyn said...

Joey said...

I asked Damon at the gallery "Yo Damon, is it Tawret or is it Sobek, whats up with that?" and pointed to the GI Joe Sobek figure.

He responded that it was Tawrett :-)

I also asked one of the writers (I believe it was Edward Kitsis) about Locke's vision in season 3 and if it will have significance to season 6. He pretty much said to look at that sequence as John getting further instructions at the time so it looks like it will be unimportant for season 6.

Sandman90 said...

Martyn - Yes, I've checked out Justin's poster - I love it. However, I'm having trouble justifying to my wife why I need to buy more posters, frame them, and place them around the house! As long as my obsession does not overwhelm her sense of balance then there is peace. This is something I understand now after more than 10 years of marriage and she is definitely worth the compromise. But Justin's poster is great, I agree.

Capcom said...

You are a very wise man Sandman. :-)

BTW,OT: Is it true that there is going to be a remake of Logan's Run?

Ellen B said...

After much rumination, I have selected my top 3 posters, listed below, based on what I consider to be truly water cooler moments. These were all, to my mind, game changers that had a very important effect on the course of events that followed. Note that there are others in the group that I consider to be better poster art, but that's not the criterion I used for my selection. Here they are:

1. Olly Moss for Locke's Secret -- finding out that Locke had been previously in a wheel chair changed everything for me. I didn't know it was coming and was astounded;

2. Kevin Tong for The Hatch -- likewise, Locke discovering the light coming from the hatch, and later Desmond inside had me gasping and thinking long and hard about the implications of what he had discovered;

3. Leia Bell for The Love Triangle -- Jack watching Kate and Sawyer make love in the cage was simply unforgettable.

Capcom - I believe it has stalled again after several directors have left. Currently, no plans to go forward per Wikipedia. It also states that the screenplay much more closely follows the book, which is notably different (and IMHO better) than the movie.

thorsten said...

Nice Avatar, Sandman.
Watched Family guy last night and had to think of you ;)) Meahnwhile, the timer reached 42:23.

Joe D said...

Thanks for the info Joey!

Joe D said...

And also a quick thank you to everyone who thoughtfully contributed to this site. I don't post often, but have read through almost every thread since the first poster reveal. I was always amazed at how quickly some of you were able to figure things out, like finding where the pics of the clues originated! You all helped make this so much more enjoyable than going through it alone!

Amy Lynn said...

Zort, sorry you thought my comment was inappropriate.

On another (I guess controversial) note, Autism Speaks is pretty well known in the community for some strange vaccine theories. I don't doubt they do good work, but they pretty much enable the anti-vaxx movement in this country to bring back things like H1N1 and the mumps.

Ok, that was my final and third mention of my trip to Hawaii. I'll shut up about it now, my friends have already thrown stuff at me for going.
