Tomorrow the poll to find the most popular poster will start, but until then this image photographed and compiled by Dennis is a great reminder of the event on Tuesday.

Zort, a little while ago I realized why you seemed so familiar to me. You remind me of Kermit the Frog!

Kermit was always having to lead a motley disorganized mob of felt muppets and get them going in a more or less single direction. He was always put upon and looked to for guidance and he sometimes was a little out of his league but he *always* kept a grace, a gentleness, and an equanimity about him. Always very humble, even self-deprecating. Didn't say as much as his compatriots but everybody always listened when he did speak.

The only difference I can see is his fellow muppets didn't always show Kermit how appreciated he was.

I hope you know.

(Oh yeah, plus, he's green and you're not).

Great job with the poster, and a really nice idea!

Another great collage!!

TY!

for those that have solved Justin's puzzle. you can try the one I made ages ago when the URL list was still secret.

It only goes 2 or three URL's deep and was meant as a slower way to release the URL's for those that wanted to be spoiled, but the URL list got leaked before I dropped it out there.

impatientashell.com

Justin is working it right now for his own amusement, but admittedly I made the first clue rather tough and requiring a few different disciplines in the hopes that as a group it would take more than an hour to crack.

Sandman90 said...

@Ob - XL but L would do as well. That would be fantastic (but only if you end up with extra)! Should it happen, here's my email: dr.sandman90@gmail.com.

Love the pics Zort. Somehow, I don't think you'll be pulling back from this site anytime soon! Do give yourself some time, my friend. Everyone here understands how hard you've been working.

ReverendMilo said...

No pulling back, we have LU to keep on with as well, plus we need to await the arrival of the last tube and hopefully any of the 1 of a kind pieces from the show that our community managed to recover from the arty-smarty society :)

LostiePat said...

Love the photos. Very cool that everyone wore name tags, including Daniel Danger. Priceless!

mungonna said...

Good Morning All,,YES! A great collection of Lost Fandom !! Thanks very much Dennis! Great work! an excellent addition to my Lost files.,,,and Yes, I wore tie with the idea that I WOULD BE the ONLY one there with a tie. But I decided to go with the Black / White Motif so prevalent thru-out LOST and I found a tie at Sears ( of all places) that was just the rite combo of b/w and the all important gray, so it all worked out.I could not have been more LOST imho.

Great irony it was, as Damon referred to us as homeless,,a shot of me in tie, came up on the CNN video; a Hurley " dude!" moment for sure.

Ellen B said...

Milo, I guess I am now officially part of the arty-smarty society. I purchased more than one piece! ;)

Callie said...

God, I can't wait until I finally make it to a Lost-related event at which I am surrounded by Losties. Only, what... Five and a half months to make that dream come true?
Hmmm, anyone planning a big finale event in the Philadelphia tri-state area? =D

You all look great.

And MEL, I think suit and tie is cool
for a gallery opening.

ReverendMilo said...

Ellen, only if you want to be!

I have a large collection of what I am told is art, but my art professor still looks at me cross-eyed 17 years after the last time he instructed me.

I still remember the day he told me that he hoped I pursued technology and spared the art world from the kitschy crap that I considered art. It was about 15 minutes after the meeting with the board where he had recommended me for the keystone etching for the new auditorium.

He is still a great friend.

Ellen B said...

Milo, I hear you. My house is overflowing with art from family members, friends, and others. We're going to have to move to a new house to find places for all the new prints. I wonder what the other retirees will think of my Lost art when we move to an "active adult" community?

Sandman90 said...

Don't get me wrong, Rev - I didn't mean Zort should pull back entirely, but he's got to be killing himself putting collages, recaps, and what not, together. Let's face it, this is what folks like us do in our spare time - it's fun. I'm saying take a little time for yourself as well. We all deserve it.

Sandman90 said...

Maven, Forget to tell you that I loved seeing the quilt again in Rev's and LT's live footage. Did you still decide not to get a signature on the back?

maven said...

Morning all...so excited to see all our lovely faces again...ahhh, sweet memories! Thanks, Dennis...awesome idea!

@Sandman90: OMG, no! I got Carlton and Damon to both sign the back label. Here's a pic on my Lost Quilt blog! Now the quilt is complete!

Another collage idea is to get all the "arty-smarty" purchasers to send in a pic of them with their art piece!

Milo, you reveal new layers every day.

Ellen B, glad you picked up some original art, and even after the opening reception! So wished I could have bought a few things too, but way out of my price range.

You'll be the coolest, hippest one in any "adult community" you choose.

If anyone is interested, according to the gallery, the Locke t-shirts were made through ABC and the gallery was not involved except to sell them.

Anybody else buy more than one shirt and end up with the same number on them?

Ellen B said...

Maven, the quilt is fantastic! So, my outfit for a snowbound day is Milo's "fake URL" tshirt. We really do have a blizzard here.

Ellen B said...

KI, I bought more than 1 piece, and didn't even manage to get a tshirt!

mungonna said...

Zort/Dennis...Okay, which one of you put the magnet behind the picture? I've got many things to do,,but i just can't pull myself away. There seems to be an invisible attraction holding me here.

I figured now is a good time to share a little LOST ARG story with you that really highlights some of the terrific attributes of the folks who dwell here.

A long time ago, when Walt's Kidnapping went on sale, I was fortunate enough to purchase one even though I wasn't crazy about it at the time. I had been immensely enjoying the musings of MEL and really felt heartbreak for him when he was unable to keep his collection going given his role in and history with this project. I offered to sell him the print and after sending it to him, told him to just give the money to charity or someone else. Well, MEL managed to floor me, paying not only for the poster, but GENEROUSLY contributing to one of my favorite local charities in the Kansas City Metro area. Moreover, I was elated to later receive in the mail one of the Ithinkthatmanwasyou.com bookmarks.

MEL managed not only to solidify this as a fantastic personal experience for me, but simultaneously renewed my faith in the potential of man. MEL was a complete stranger to me, but no more. This is a man of singular character and should serve as a great example to us all. We are lucky to have him amongst us.

Sorry to out you, MEL, but I was waiting until this was over to share the story. Kudos to you.

Ellen B said...

Maven, you keep reminding us. ;)

MEL is the man!

Ellen B said...

Now...back to watching the snow....errr....blizzard. ;)

ChrisL said...

Sandman90, I'm loving that story. I knew there was something about MEL! And the story reveals something heartwarming about you too. I've come across a number of stories such as this while being a part of this troupe. It has seemed to have gathered together some genuinely fine examples of humanity.

maven said...

Sandman90: That is such an awesome story...from both of your ends! You reached out to help a fellow Lostie out of the goodness of your heart and MEL did, too! Kudos to both of you!

Maven- someone like you deserves good things I think, so I'm glad you had fun with Damon & Carlton.

And Mel- you generous thing- I saw those floating island and eye in ash paintings at G88 and said- Mel's going to have a field day with these. Did they strike a chord?

and Maven- i think it's so awesome that Damon signed the quilt as your Constant!:)

Hi folks,

I've written up a history of the lostargs.com poster that was presented to Darlton at Gallery 1988. If you're interested please check it out here: lostargs.com poster

The post also includes photos and video frames along with a summary timeline of the project.

If you notice any errors or important omissions in the post please let me know and I will make appropriate changes. You can send those directly to me at roobperrin (at) gmail (dot) com. The double-o is not a typo.

I had a lot of fun going back through the lostargs.com posts from the past few weeks to research the article. Hope you enjoy it.

Thorsten, did you feel a "collective sigh of relief echoed through the blogosphere" ?

Rob with two oo's, a great article and tribute to an idea that become a reality. I am hoping that the graphic I created will be released so that everyone connect name with face (or logo in the case of dr mum). Zort?

Maven, an example to all, from concept to finish. I remember hearing about this mysterious quilt so many years ago and maybe that's how I found The Lostargs Blog. Job well done and good luck on Quilt 2.0

MEL. that picture does capture a moment. I think one of all 6 smushed in would have been more accurate. Scoutpost and ReverendMilo opting for the back hatch cushy ride.

JT...ahh the Man in Black I was aware of since school days, but he had to be patient until I let my Locke go and threw my Jacob into the fire. LOST opened up the opportunity for my Man in Black to claim his rightful place. I am an empty vessel that he speaks thru.

thorsten said...

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, Lotto, as if millions of voices cried out in joy and were suddenly jubilating!

Dan said...

@ZORT - love the idea of a poll, but unless the Stout poster is more liked than The Crash, a new poll probably won't be very beneficial in terms of telling us anything new.

I propose, if this is even possible, a poll in which we rank all of the posters from most liked to least liked. I think I've seen this sort of thing on espn.com so I believe it can be done but who knows...

Amy Lynn said...

A few days ago, we were talking about the possibility that Evangeline Lilly asked that her likeness not be used in this project... it would explain why any poster that has Kate on it doesn't really look like anyone other than a non-descript brunette... anyone know how we'd actually find out?

mungonna said...

Comix..see how she is!?..I kept telling her that and she didn't believe me. Okay, the Geraldo Rivera of LostArg wasn't quite spot on, but Lotto is finally realizing what I meant. You the BEST Lotto!

MEL

Just Thinking said...

Amy Lynn- that could be a question for the artist interviews.

Just Thinking said...

I'm not sure Mel- but are you saying you've given up being a martyr or a saint and gone over to the dark side?

mungonna said...

JT..oh no.no. no...The Man In Black..IS the SURREAL. No doubt in my mind. The Black,,is not evil in this case, but is the Unknown,,the Mystery, the Who Am I? of the infinite Imagination that is the Island. Its only a matter of time.

Just Thinking said...

Ahh-something not quite seen in the smoke. All right then.

Zort70 said...

Hi all, Rob I've just sent you an email.

Dan, you are right and a few others have suggested an alternative as well.

The vote will not be a straight which is the best poll.

Good night all, I've been wrapping presents so it is feeling very much like Christmas.

futureself said...

Amy Lynn, I would suggest emailing either Tyler Stout or Eric Tan to ask if there was any restrictions put in place for Kate's depiction. I personally would be surprised if this was the case, although I'd be interested to find out what they say if they do get back to you ;)

And Rob - love your history of the LostArgs poster blog :)

Amy Lynn said...

futureself, I might do that. It just seems awkward to me that the depictions of Jack, Sawyer, Locke, etc. are so dead on, and Kate never looks like EL.

futureself said...

I know what you mean AmyLynn, more obviously so in the Stout print. The Crash depicts a very cartoony Sawyer so I think this makes Kate's unlikeness less strange. The Stout one however does capture everyone else very well. Kate does seem rather odd.

mungonna said...

I suspect The Man in Black will have His way with Smokie,,if he hasn't already.

I bore witnesss to the defeat of Smokie by the youngsters in front of the line at 1988. While their " antics" on the curbside were deplorable and drew the attention of LA's Finest,,mr Slusho Show biz Steve and crew,,perhaps only for being in the state of delirium from sleep deprivation, demonstrated the freedom from Smokie,, that the Surrealist Andre Breton admitted could lead to a huge influx to the misdemeanor's court.

mungonna said...

Amy and future..I look at the Stout poster and see Evie with ease in Kate. It may not be from her " best side" as I think she believes, but I did not give her characterization even a second thought. Looks like Evie to me.

Yep -neat poster Justin.

About Kate's likeness-when I saw the hi res photo by Rev Milo of the Stout I thought it was more like than before- but still- the shape of the mouth seems wrong and that is defining for her I think.

Here is Revs pic:Rev's pic Stout

And here's a fan site one: Evie

Justin said...

Nice job on the photos! looks great!

mungonna said...

Justin..interesting perspective on Evie/ Kate. For me tho..Stout caught her eyes and nose accurately enuf for me to see Evie. I take notice of noses. After what the plastic surgeon did to mine, after the car wreck, I find them as works of Art. Evie's is a graceful waterfall.

NEW POST

mungonna said...

ObFu..Another Loop Completed!! Wow,yea, Jensen with 17th, Beauty!

Anne, i extend my apologies. Taking a 2 pic is always a good idea, and that time I failed. I am sorry. But whats this about inside info? I am intrigued. And, your pics of Hawaii, are really putting the pressure on me to decide.

TKI..I see the on going offspring/ parent relationships put forth in Lost as Great Metaphor. I mean,,if you are a Parent character in LOST,,you LOSE. Even what was perceived at first as the kind olde sweet Grand Mother,,Elsie,,turned out to be a fully objectionable character. What a witch...and Im being nice. So whats the point of all this parental abuse? Yes,, the need to give the heave ho to the status quo. Accept nothing from your parents as " You",who you Are. Each individual is unique, has their individual Potentials and Talents to explore. That message was loud and clear when " kind olde Grandma" Elsie closed the piano key board on Dan and told him he had Other directions to go. She killed him there as good as she put the bullet in him later. I did not like or trust her from the start. Way too into telling other people what to do.

So the MIB/Jacob exchange can be seen at an even higher or further level or circumference . Overthrowing the Dogma of Jacob ..matter of fact, All Dogma, for the Liberation of the Mind, for the Liberated exploration of the Imagination, where Who You Are awaits to be discovered, is the Metaphor of the repeated Motif of Parents and their BullCrap. I suppose,,the angle of father and son can be perceived between Jake and MIB, as "we" are said to be Gods Children. Perhaps all the different ways Jacob was portrayed , suggests how " we" can't even be uniform in what our " father" is.

Some open issues remain tho. Flocke( fake Locke or The Reborn Locke) is rather adamant in his Purpose. This development strikes fear in some viewers. He is seen as evil, or on the Dark Side. I await some loops to be closed that will demonstrate The Love of his new found Purpose. In a way, the Turning of Ben already demonstrates this. Just remember the kind of Love Kate demonstrated in saving Young Bens Life, with full knowledge of what Ben would do later in his life. Thats a Love thats out on the farther reaches of the mundane mind, but just at the welcoming threshold of the Imagination.

What gives Dennis!? I hope it's because I was asleep in the Slusho-Mobile that I didn't end up in this collage!

I am however, hidden in several of the photographs, but my face only appears in the background in one!

Can you find it?
