Prize 1 - LOST Loot 222

The first competition is here, this first prize is a selection of Lost Magazines and a brand new Lost Puzzle. These were donated by Ramhatter.

Think of this first competition as a shakedown to prove the method works before we move on to other Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear related items.

Questions

1. What business did Boone work in and who owned it ?

2. Which other LOST actress auditioned for the Kate roll ?

3. How many days had Nikki and Paulo been on the island when they died ?

Thanks to JustThinking and Sayid'sgirl for the questions.

Submit your answers by clicking here and entering the information into the entry form. This same form will be used for each prize. Make sure you choose PRIZE 1 from the selection drop down.

First? Here we go - nice one Zort!

ObFuSc8 said...

Can we enter, for fun, but decline the prize?

Zort70 said...

If you enter but put No in the accept T&C's that would exclude you from winning.

ChrisL said...

Great layout Zort. What fun!

Zort70 said...

Dennis was the one that told me about the Google Docs forms, which will make the entry collation so much easier than accepting answers via email.

ChrisL said...

Is there anything the Mighty G****e don't have covered. Well spotted Dennis.

ObFuSc8 said...

Yay! Now, off to work!

Zort70 said...

The Sayid'sgirl question was the first one we received so it had to be asked first.

John LaHair said...

Way cool! Will need to do a bit of dvd watching to gather the answers.

@Zort - Will there be a new question every day?

Thanks Ramhatter, JustThinking and Sayid'sgirl for a great way to end 2009!

John LaHair said...

And... definitely will donate to Unicef! 1st time you've asked for us to do something for all the good you do for us! :)

Cool form, Zort!
Is ist just my browser that displays the red * Erforderlich ?

which would be funny ;))

thorsten said...

Ah, found it. The whole Google content is displayed in german. (I use an english OS and browser, I just wondered. But Google pinpoined my location ;))

Zort70 said...

There are 10 prizes so I'm thinking of releasing a new one every couple of days after New Year is done with, so this finishes about a week before season 6 starts.

That way we will have some time to fit in any other stuff that comes our way before then.

So the next one will start on the 3rd of Jan. (No date guessing needed !)

Good Morning All
Zort
Great plan to end this just before Season 6. It keeps us busy until then so we don't go crazy waiting for it to start.
Thanks for using my question.
You're welcome JPL.

ReverendMilo said...

Morning!

Entered!

Thanks Zort!

Zort70 said...

Just finished the questions for the next 7 prizes. They are locked and loaded.

Just Thinking said...

Hey-my question! Thank you Zort for the whole contest. So this is when I had better check-are the question providers entered in that draw?

Thanks Ramhatter too for spreading around more Lost fun.

Zort70 said...

Yes Question providers are added in automatically, unless they email the admins to take themselves out of a draw.

Doesn't stop you entering though, as none of the sets of questions are from one individual person.

Zort70 said...

I also need to ask JoeD wether you meant to choose 'Yes' on the agree to the terms and conditions ?

I'm not going to ask everyone that does this but as it's the first try I will.

Anonymous said...

Can questions still be submitted?

Zort70 said...

I think I've got enough questions for the competition now, but send them in anyway just in case.

I might create a list of unused questions for when we have finished.

Just make sure it says 'Lost Trivia' in the email subject.

ReverendMilo said...

So, oh the horror, my first 12sec video...

MyLocke may be available soon

Any offers?

Zort70 said...

In around 20 years that could be worth a fortune.

thorsten said...

As we are celebrating across some timelines tonight, I already made a card for you all ;))

Joe D said...

Sorry Zort, I was going to explain I was just playing for fun in the comment area, but didn't. I don't want the prize listed, just the prize of entertainment and comradery that is flowing from your site! Thanks for keeping things interesting, those were great questions too

andalone said...

I think I will forget about getting any work done this morning and just enjoy my twitter feed. I am so very entertained.

@ Thorsten - totally cool postcard - quite fitting!

@ Zort - thanks again for another great opportunity. I submitted and anxiously await the results!

Happy early new year everyone!!!!

Just Thinking said...

Thank you Thorsten- same to you. Poor Ben!

Zort- I appreciate the sweet way you remind me to remain industrious.

Rev- that is a wonderful way to involve the kids! Was thinking of you today- wanted to ask if you had gotten into the Davies course on LU, and if so had any advice for the rest of us?

Amy Lynn said...

JT, the Davies class is not for the first semester. Whether or not it will be second semester or after that, we don't know. But it's labeled 301. I don't know why anyone thought they could get into it early.

Tess315 said...

Thorsten - Love the card

And a happy new year to you all.

Great way to end 2009 as we go into 2010! I'm not interested in winning anything and we already donated to UNICEF (wrote all our charity checks last night). I'll play along though, because that is the best part...being involved in this great group of people from all over the world (kiwilostie and other Aussies here are in 2010 already)!

@thorsten: Wonderful card! I think we've all felt like Ben in the Tunisian desert at some time!

@RevMilo: That poster is priceless now!

Thanks to Ramhatter, Sayid'sGirl and Just Thinking, and, of course, Zort70, for starting this off!

I stopped by Michael's after I left the office. They had an awesome sale, and I was able to find frames for three of my non-Arg LOST-themed prints. I didn't want to spend much money on the framing of these, rather to save the funds for the DCaaPB 16 & the prints by Justin, Dusty and Jim. I was able to pick up these frames for $7 each. I will have to get a different mat for The Black Rock Storm but Jacob's Dog and Progress look terrific!

I just watched the beginning of 5|06 (written by D&C), in which Eloise explains how Dharma found the Island with the Lamppost… If you watch it without the stress of seeing it the first time, this scene is pretty revealing.

@thorsten -- Interesting. That's right where I am with the rewatch. I'm going to watch that episode today, and will bear in mind what you said. :)

ChrisL said...

Yes Thorsten, Just watched it a couple of days ago and felt the same. Tempted to watch again this evening now.

mungonna said...

Thor...Greetings. Weird that you mention that episode. I was thinking of it recently. From memory,,the whole Eloise presentation struck me as School Marm'ish..like being lectured to at a 3rd grade level..rather comic/satirical. I was surprised one of Losties didn't put a spitball on her forehead with a pea shooter.

As i recall,,it all boiled down to ,,knowing where the Island had been..kinda determined where it was going.( + or - a few " influences") There, is that idea, that nothing is really new,,everything builds on the preceding..or,,evolves.

I suppose one can try to make sense out of her mumbo jumbo and all the clicking and clacking computer out put in the background,,rather reminiscent of a sorcerers den. But Eloise plays that scene just over the top enough, for me to see a bit of satire in it. Again,,predicting the Imagination, is something Marketeers, Politicians and Religious Leaders try to perform, so they can tell you where you should be....imho.

Don't get me wrong,,the episode was great, and with Dez dropping out of her little class room,,that was just the right touch...imho.

What few clouds there was this a.m., have moved on.

ChrisL said...

Amy, it's the new and long awaited Apple device. Expect it to be beautiful, groundbreaking and life changing in the same way as so many Apple products. That and Season 6 premier in the space of a week or so... not sure my heart can take it.

Amy Lynn said...

Just got an email update from Entertainment Earth: All the LOST bobble heads (Faraday, Chang, Albert) now won't be available until Feb. 2010! They were originally listed as being available in mid-Jan.

Amy Lynn said...

Random LOST musing... finally reached "Man Behind the Curtain" in my re-watch! Hooray. Watching the scene between Richard and young Ben is INCREDIBLE, in light of The Incident/Esau. The look in Richard's eyes when Ben says he saw Emily on the island is great, if we now know that it meant that Esau was behind it.

thorsten said...

So The End of Time is over, and we have a new Doctor?

futureself said...

I'm too emotional to answer that Thorsten...

mungonna said...

Below is one of my favorite opening paragraphs. A new Dr Who?,, definitely the foundation of Lost..imho anyway..

So strong is the belief in life, in what is most fragile in life – real life, I mean – that in the end this belief is lost. Man, that inveterate dreamer, daily more discontent with his destiny, has trouble assessing the objects he has been led to use, objects that his nonchalance has brought his way, or that he has earned through his own efforts, almost always through his own efforts, for he has agreed to work, at least he has not refused to try his luck (or what he calls his luck!). At this point he feels extremely modest: he knows what women he has had, what silly affairs he has been involved in; he is unimpressed by his wealth or his poverty, in this respect he is still a newborn babe and, as for the approval of his conscience, I confess that he does very nicely without it. If he still retains a certain lucidity, all he can do is turn back toward his childhood which, however his guides and mentors may have botched it, still strikes him as somehow charming. There, the absence of any known restrictions allows him the perspective of several lives lived at once; this illusion becomes firmly rooted within him; now he is only interested in the fleeting, the extreme facility of everything. Children set off each day without a worry in the world. Everything is near at hand, the worst material conditions are fine. The woods are white or black, one will never sleep.

Martyn said...

TWas an emotional ending, they really dragged it out at the end. I will admit that I felt a little tear forming in my eye when he was saying goodbye. I'm a little bit annoyed about the change of moods after regen, I don't want to change, ooo, I'm the same person. What the hell was that about?

Anyway, intrigued by matt smith but suddenly felt a tug of, I actually care now that David tennant is leaving, more so than when it started.

ChrisL said...

As vital today as it was in '24 MEL, particularly to all of us here I think. And a fine opening paragraph for a new decade.

Happy new year beloved LostArgies. (I just did a pirate arg out loud, because it felt right).

I remember a simpler time when I didn't need to play 'ketchup' and that time was, actually it was not at all simple, but it sure was fun. After next week the hope is that work (which I am currently, which is why I can pirate talk out loud as the office is empty) will not be as awful. Or at least allow me to play again. I finally got my two posters framed, the look beautiful. The framers loved them, loved the story of this crazy thing we did to get them. Will post pictures soon.

I apologize for my in and out, but I just wanted to say hello, welcome in 2010 (so far I've had better year's).

Rewatch. I'm hoping to do at least season 4 and 5, but I can't even get my dvr cleaned out from the week, crap I need to not work.

I didn't know we knew that! It's upsetting me now thinking about the end game.

Hey all..Everytime the idea of .."the end of Lost" enters my thoughts, I remember John Belushi's great " Give Up!!?? diatribe in Animal House. I am restored by it.

In a way..Belushi's rant also applies to that white screen reversed LOST ending of season 5..Now that the past has been explored for all its bleeps bloops and blunders,,its Time to move on to the future..creating it,,as to not to repeat the past. Salvation, redemption, awaits. So It Begins.

Happy Jan 2!

Hi all! I have been working on my DCaaPB shadowbox. It's not quite finished yet, but coming along nicely. Of course Thorsten's LostArgs poster made the cut! (and so did miniature Face-On-A-Stick. She threw a fit to be included.)

Looking good andalone :-)

@Andalone: What a great memory that is going to be!

I thought Damon's IT BEGINS TODAY might refer to them actually writing the finale script?

One month......

In truly pathetic news, I have finally gotten AHEAD of my re-watch schedule. If I watch one episode per day, I'll finish 1/31.

Just Thinking said...

andalone- I always screw up the links-but maybe it works better to cut and paste the URL, as going to the link always loses my place in the blog.

Very cool box- nice way to have a "scrapbook" that you can see all at once. Clever to put the Baggage Claim in the CD case. Maybe something darker behind the Chang napkin to make it stand out?

Speaking of non links- TV guide this week has Josh Holloway featured. I bought the newsstand issue- but it is online @ http://www.tvguidemagazine.com/feature/paradise-lost-3608.html. The article has some casting info for s6 and is a little bit spoilery as to Sawyer's relationships. But could I resist? Uh unh.

Hubby is out snowblowing a bit- we don't have tons, but just to keep up. Nice hibernation day. I'm going to watch the commentary for "The Constant" to try and get some inside view on Daniel's time traveling mouse and where he got the settings from to send Eloise's mind off. (If he gave the settings to Des from the future, so that he knew them in 1996, where did they come from in the first place?)

I really hope that even if the world continues to do its upside down thing this year that everyone finds their own personal "progress". I'm going to try- oops there is no "try" only "do", as my favorite little wise mentor says. :)

Just Thinking said...

And - oh- The last David Tennent Dr. Who is on tonight on BBC America! Had to go la, la,la again through the Dr comments earlier- but I think this is the episode you were referring to. So we're not far behind- and I will have tissues nearby.

andalone said...

@Just Thinking - Thank. I have a few more pieces to add to the shadowbox. That Chang scrap is just a placeholder. There is some stuff that will go behind it. I think the spray adhesive for the little poster pieces got to me, and I had to take a break for a bit.

Hey LOST ARG'ers!

Because it seems like no one is talking about this, if anyone is interested in picking up Hurley's Curse aka The Numbers, you should head over to www.nakatomiinc.com and follow the instructions there.

Just sayin'....

@ Lottery

Thanks for posting the link - we posted our comments about the same time.

Signed up for the mailing list... I don't really need The Numbers, but I'm faster on email than a lot of other people who might want it.

Hi All! HNY :)

Am I the only one that thinks the tweet by Damon has to do with some crazy New Year's Resolution. Like... IT BEGINS TODAY: Wear Less Man Jewelry. (lol - I keed, I keed - i heart Damon). If it is some sort of resolution, do you all have any crazy ideas? ;)

Andalone, the shadowbox is looking great! I think some other people are also working on shadowboxes. It would be fun to see them all when finished.

Thorsten, this morning I was watching a fun show on PBS and it reminded me of your latest card. Next time you want to throw your camera, just fly a kite instead.

Make: Aerial Kite Photography :)

And welcome back Lotto

Have a great day everyone!

Has it ever been confirmed which is the real Damon: DamonLindelof or TheRealDamon?

TheRealDamon tweeted "Had a weird dream last night. Been shaking it off all day. Everything feels a little... Sepia." about 2 hrs ago.

ChrisL said...

Was Damon referring to the fact that the artists can begin to sell their remaining prints?

What does an identity crisis feel like?

RobPerrin said...

ChrisL - I had the same thought after seeing the Doyle news.

Eugene said...

MEL, I was just telling my daughter that my NY resolution was to stop looking for meaning in Darlton's words. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

mungonna said...

Wow..one shakes off a Sepia dream..the other is faced with the ultimate Surreal..Who Am I?...hmmm..seems to me the " real" Damon would not shake off a dream, but would rather pursue it. This idea is strongly connected to the identity crisis question. So,,the DamonL twit appeals to me as being authentic,,only if he is into Surrealism as much as I believe him to be..which may or may not answer a question put to Carlton that he refused to answer..

WHAT!!??

Just added a small post on the front page for the Numbers print info.

Thanks Lotto and MilkCanRocks for letting us know.

Darlton's tweets are going to get interesting from here on in !

Right to bed I go, night all.

mungonna said...

Me and my questions,,is nakatomiinc to be the sole outlet for all 16 extra prints? Reading thru naka there , or at least Foozareli, there is a hint of all 16 , but not an outrite declaration. Is just ,,Tom Doyle for the Numbers to be sold at naka and the others at whatever outlets they choose?..need specificity here.

Will I ever let Damon off the hook for that word?

High ARGies!

Just popping in and checking stuff from work.

LT and milkcanrocks got to the nakatomi post before I did--thanks guys.

We can't be sure, but I have wondered if BOTH @DamonLindelof and @therealdamon are actually DL. Cuse follows only @DamonLindelof, though. But it's @therealdamon that's "verified". Either way, not reading to much into their tweeds. Partly because of limited time, partly because a bunch of them are jokes. How fun must it be watching us spin everything into a possible clue? I think whmscl is right about IT referring to a resolution or
something.

OK. Will stop commenting from work and go home. I blame the iPhone for that.

Nighty night Zort. Don't let the medusa spiders or Smoke Monsters bite!

ObFuSc8 said...

MEL-- I think Nakatomi is just selling Doyle's print. Each artist has 50 copies of their print that they can chose to make available beginning today. Daniel Danger cryptically said something similar. I will keep you all as updated as I can if I hear more, I am just a bit slower from work.

LostiePat said...

@ObFuSc8 - I heard a few months ago that the Twitter account "DamonLindelof" is not the real Damon so I began following TheRealDamon (not that it matters - he's not an active tweeter). For what it's worth, I just checked and found that Cuse is following both accounts. Guess he's keeping an eye on the Damon poser in case he says something outrageous. :-)

Lisa-Maladylis said...

andalone, I think you win the prize for being the truest lost fan ever ! And here I thought I had it hands down ! lol Nope.

Jawapez said...

"DamonLindelof" was some other guy and he gave the account to Damon some time ago. So both accounts are legit.

Just in case anyone wants to drop $40k on the complete set, checkout ebay #220534808232. I don't think I've seen anyone sell the DCAPB print before- I wonder what it would get on its own.

@andalone- I was just looking through the twitpics you posted and saw the Black Rock piece. Where did you get that?

mungonna said...

Ob8,,Hey! how ya doin? Yea, thats my read also. Just seems there is the implication of more than that with naka's verbage. PRONOUNS!! they are just sooo not of specificity.

Wow,, finally got my reservation confirmed in writing to go you know where, thats some specificity I've been looking for!

Interestingly..the words ..specific and specifically,,are broken down down in pronounced syllables as SPE..cif..ics..for example..BUT..specificity doesn't work that way..its..spec..i..fic..i..ty..uuhhmm ..like..SPES E FISitE.or is it SPES e FIS itE...no wonder hardly anyone uses it. Mr I don't care about his motivation! I just want him dead!!,,i will not let you live down using that word!

harumph!
