Lost University - Class Act ? 314

So the classes have started and we are moving down the halls via the quad. Here are a few screenshots from my experience so far for those still undecided about purchasing.

My experience so far has been generally fine, but not without some issues in the display of some classes, I'm off to find out of my Blu-Ray player needs a firmware update.

By the way take a closer look a the Deans list (last screenshot) you might see a couple of familiar names.

Not everything is rosy with LU as I get this small problem after taking a class.

I'm assuming it is my player at the moment but it is annoying to have to restart the player after each class to clear this.

first. but no LU so :(

I like LU so far. I'm going slowly, at my own pace.

confirmed for Saharan hotel now.

As far as LostU Still cant get into phy301

Zort70 said...

No I can't get in either, I assume it shouldn't be on the schedule as surely Phy201 would be next ?

ChrisL said...

OK - that's it! I'm heading home.

ReverendMilo said...

Well in the US sometimes the prerequisite for 300 classes is only the 100 level class.

Unknown said...

I assume the Dean's List is in order of getting on it - my username shows first on my section since I'm the one doing it probably. Curious where I am ACTUALLY. Not that I'm competitive ;3 I'm EvilLain on there.

Having blizzard here (assuming Lisa from prev. post might be in Illinois hah)... wonder if I'll make it through the day without desperately trying to find a way to LA.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

lol @Chris what will work say. Hi, I'm Chris and I'm a crazy LOST fan (and so is everyone else I know at the LostARG's lol)
I sure wish I had the dvd's, I will get them soon and then spend the week catching up I'm sure.

TakesaVillage said...

I had some problem with the screen freezing. I had to go back to the disc menu, come back in, and
continue where I left off.(Maybe high traffic.)
The classes worked fine though.
The homework wouldn't load for Phi 101,but I got it online in my binder.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

Just about a foot of snow now. 11.5 inches Very beautiful but coooollldddd ! Burr Boy friend already went driving in it. said it was very slick so far. Not my kind of fun driving in the snow. I'm such a woose in my older age, I'd take a roller coaster anyday over sliding in my truck in the snow.

Unknown said...

when i play the classes, i don't get any audio. the audio works fine right up until i press play on the actual class, it cuts out, then when the class is over, it comes back on. does anyone know anything i can do to get it to work? i live in the US, and am playing it on a PS3 if that helps at all.

p.s. love this community. always creepin and watching the comments but never commenting myself. haha.

Unknown said...

Damn, I signed up for Lost U in the expectation of having a Blu-Ray player, but sadly economic forces have conspired to keep me deprived. Tragic that it's only on Blu-Ray, but them's the breaks (and I'm pretty sick of people bitching on the forums). Is there some kind of competition involved in Lost U? It doesn't seem like the questions are all that hard. Is it just a matter of who finishes first?

maven said...

Morning! Reading all the comments makes me hope that all the kinks get worked out until I can start classes (hopefully tomorrow)! I like that there's no real rush to be first and you can do it at your own pace as long as you finish before Semester 2 starts!

Tess315 said...

MIne worked fine last night. This morning when I tried to get on it said I wasn't connected to the internet.

I won't have time until later to try again.

Tess315 said...

illix
I haven't gotten that deep into it yet, but I don't think it's a competion. Unless you want bragging rights for being at the top of the Dean's list.

I think it's just for fun. I wonder if anyone will pick up on the season 6 info hidden in the courses?

Zort70 said...

Steven - Welcome along, I'm afraid I don't knowwhat to suggest about the audio problems.

Illix, there is a prize of some signed diplomas but I don't know what the criteria is for getting them, maybe it's the highest GPA ?

Eugene said...

When does 2nd semester start? Will I not be able to take 1st semester classes once it does? I hope to get these when I can find a new job. But if it will be too late then I guess I'll just follow all of your comments.

Tess315 said...

I thought eveyone got a diploma.
Or are only a few going to be signed. I don't know anything about it other than what I've read here.

Tess315 said...

Second semester is January 15th.

Unknown said...

i thought i read somewhere that the first 108 people to finish were to receive a diploma signed by Darlton.

this has led me to want nothing more in life.

maven said...

Anyone getting concerned that there is no clue for Poster 16?

Amy Lynn said...

@maven, nope. I'm very Zen about the whole thing. Either we'll start getting clues today or tomorrow, or the reveal will be after the gallery opening.

Martyn said...

On way home after another awkward day at work. Got tomorrow off for plenty of LU action. Even getting my Xmas tree tomorrow so that'll be fun. But first, must hang JC tonight so I can view it's awesomeness.

@rev milo...

Cheers for the mug but think I'm going to go for that frosted beer glass. Awesome!

Eugene said...

Ok. If it's Jan 15 then I might have time to complete the first semester.

Thanks as usual SG!

maven said...

Ok...I just called Gallery1988...they are aware that there will be a big crowd. They only let in so many people at a time. Parking is an issue...I checked the streets and there are 2 hour parking signs until 6PM and doesn't seem to be any lots around there. So probably we will be taking turns to moving our cars every 2 hours!

Amy Lynn said...

@maven, yikes, it's gonna be in shifts? It might be better to space "our" people out so we get coverage of the whole evening.

thorsten said...

Good that we made just an 18/24, Maven!

Kevin T said...

I also noticed that it listed my username (Tostie14) at the top once I made the dean's list by completing the Jungle Survival class.

It appears that to earn the diploma, it will take waiting until the start of Semester 2. If there is a 3 credit class that you can earn credit for immediately (without the 2 day wait for the 2nd class), that will be how to be one of the 108 who get the signed diploma.

Looking at the structure of the pages, it appears that the Jeremy Davies 201 is a "teaser" class that can't actually be signed up for as the "Go to Class" page has a max size of 5 classes. Makes sense that in the spirit of the ARG that they would want to make it seem like a real school where stuff filled up.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow whether or not you can "fail" a class when the first multiple choice exams come available.

ChrisL said...

Arrived home to find mother-in-law visiting. I just can't say "i'm off to the LU"... my Blu-Rays are staring at me, my PS3 is staring at me... feels like a conspiracy!

maven said...

ChrisL: Yea, blame it on us mother-in-laws! LOL You're a good son-in-law!

Patmc said...

@Maven - that was actually my biggest concern for the day... finding a parking spot. Did Gallery 1988 have any suggestions about where to park? It would seem that we'll definitely need to have line-holding buddies to allow us to move cars, get food, etc.

Amy Lynn said...

Two words. Dharma Van.

maven said...

PatMC: No, the lady had no suggestions and agreed parking is an issue. LA Traffic cops are notorious for enforcing parking limits (look for that chalk line on your tires)! I was looking for a market that was within walking distance, but couldn't find one yet. Their lots are usually good for long-term parking. We'll most likely have to keep moving our cars every 2 hours until 6PM.

Unknown said...

@KevinT: I think I'm going to "fail" Korean if I can't find better info. And this from a person who has some familiarity with Japanese (it makes it a BIT less foreign). Hahah. XD

@Amy Lynn: I've been looking to see if it's possible, lol! So far I only found a place to rent vintage Bug, or VW campers. Will post a link if I find something.

Unknown said...

Hey I might have found a place that has two!
Classic Car Rental Connection (select VW under make)
I'm not sure what they charge for rental, their site is bad; one listing says $5,000 which is more than for an Alpha Romeo on another site. Maybe that's purchase :P Or weekly. They have a phone # though!

MeSoCrazy said...

Just popping in to say awesome job on the poster Thorsten. I've been very sick so I haven't been able to post nonesense on the board.

I do hope that the complete series on blu ray is worth it. Especially after that deal yesterday. I'm missing so much.

Martyn said...

Right, played LU and had a Hieroglyphs lesson. Interesting stuff and now i'm going to rehang all my posters on my wall to accommodate JC. Hopefully they won't move again when I receive The Swan Station.

thorsten said...

Hey, thanks MeSoCrazy. Get better soon!

comixguru said...

Good Day, All!

finally catching up on comments. I may do a drive by of the Gallery area before Tuesday- to scope out parking and such.

Wish I had seen Carlton's tweet early enough to reply- but alas, it seems he has gotten plenty of recommendations.

Doing some LostU classes and checked out the Dean's List and saw many familiar names on there! :)

kinda irked you have to wait 2 days between classes though. (i am home sick today. bad neck pain) i was hoping to breeze through all the courses in one day! :)

Just Thinking said...

There are people on the LU forum who say they have taken the Davies course- I think it's just overloaded and you have to keep trying- that's what one person did.

Happy to say I haven't had any problems with LU. I have a PS3 that we updated the day before. Have to go take that Jungle Survival test. Have been busy today with actual winter survival in New England and tree raising.

sfj3 said...

finaly worked for me today and im rle liking it so far (altho incase any of u non-blu ray owners are wondering: yes, all of this cood have been done online)

Rle liked the island survival and i gave korean my best shot (defo gona try and memorise at least the numbers :P )

Physics was rle intresting to, altho it did make my head hurt lol

ChrisL said...

Ok, so managed to extract myself from the family gathering and am about to (finally) launch LU. Hooray!

Before I do though I have to say this...

@everyone. I want to thank all of you that have contributed so generously to the LOSTARGs print cost. This community continues to amaze me in it's good humor, it's positivity, it's honesty and it's friendliness. If only all of life were like this how ridiculously happy everyone would be!

Despite my specific request that there be a maximum donation several people have ignored it and put in more, and many have dropped in a couple of $ here and a couple there so in the last 48 hours we have contributions of $120 and it needs to stop now!

In the spirit of this community and I hope with everyone's blessing I have split this amount in half and have just now donated, on everyone's behalf, the total amount to the following two children's charities:

In the U.S.
Make-a-Wish Foundation

In the U.K.
NSPCC

If anyone still wishes to contribute, please do so by visiting these, or your local charity, and donating a few dollars.

You guys seriously ROCK! Thanks again.

Now... to LU...

Zort70 said...

sfj3, sorry I was being dumb for a few minutes and didn't realise rle = really, my brain is too slow today, a good job I didn't have to try too hard on the Jungle Survival exam.

Good night all.

Zort70 said...

Chris that is super generous of you and can I also personally thank you for all your efforts with the poster.

Tess315 said...

That was a wonderful thing to do. They are both amazing organizations.

@ChrisL - I think you will be awarded the humanitarian scholarship at LU! Awesome of you!

ObFuSc8 said...

Hi youalleverybody!

I finally shook off wthe work fatigue and yesterdays killer migraine and crawled out of my hole this morning to shovel, shovel... shovel! Booked ticket to LA, finally. And then got caught up with loads of comments.

ChrisL, very magnanimous! Thanks for passing on the ARG good will to Make-A-Wish and NSPCC.

Thorsten, great job with the poster! And hello to a couple lurkers that have come forward to post.

How early are the folks at G1988 planning on letting us queue up? If G1988 is only planning on letting in a set # of people at a time, it may make any kind of puzzle tough. We might have to come up with rotation. Unless they save the puzzle for the end of the night?

Hmmm, and whenabouts do we think Darlton will show? Paul Scheer seemed to say, in his WP interview, that he'd show up after the event was underway.

Alas, with no LU for me, I am in clue withdrawal. Good thing the G1988 event is just 6 days away. With no clue yet, the last print may go live on the 16th -- which could be tight for those of us flying out to the reveal.

ObFuSc8 said...

Oh and in case anyone still wanted to rent a VW van for the event -- here's a link, just a bit pricey though.

Wow can't believe how many of you are flying out for the show! You guys are some Dedicated fans!! Look forward to meeting some of you at the event.

Sucks that my blu-ray player is an older version and doesnt have bd-live capabilities. I might get a new one for xmas but we'll have to wait and see.

@Zort, thanks for posting a summary of LU so far for those of us that don't have blu-ray or BD-Live!

Capcom said...

Martyn said...

Wow, very noble of you ChrisL!

Will pop a couple of quid in the next NSPCC collection.

MeSoCrazy said...

@ChrisL I missed the donation fund. Even though you got your money I would like to participate, where is your paypal information?

Lisa-Maladylis said...

Hey Justin, how about selling it to someone that is a big fan of it ?? hint hint hint lol

maven said...

Ob: I mentioned to the lady at G1988 about people planning on camping out in line...she laughed and said that has happened before. Keep in mind there's just a hard concrete sidewalk there! LOL Apparently, other Art Shows at the Gallery have drawn big crowds...hope they really know what they're dealing with!

Got my Blu-Rays today! Did the easiest course first: Jungle Survival! Very awesome feature!

Ellen B said...

Got my season 5 blurays, watched episode 1, everything working. So now I have to be sure I can do LU. So sorry I can't come to LA! It will be a fun time! :)

ObFuSc8 said...

Maven -- here in Chicago we are used to sidewalks...maybe we should plan to tailgate ;)

ReverendMilo said...

G1988 and Jensen are quite familiar with overpacked showings. I am sure it will be fine.

That being said - Get out of my way, I'm going in!!

Justin said...

@Lisa, I was thinking of maybe giving it away in my fan ARG if it goes on long enough, but if things don't work out, you'll be the first on my list. Shoot me an email at chulo333 at gmail dot com and I'll keep you in mind when I decide what to do with it.

ReverendMilo said...

But I have to say I am worried that Jensen will invoke some sort of one jumpsuit at a time rule - if so I have will to bring my hydra lab coat too.

LT is there an attendee "wave"?

ObFuSc8 said...

Rev -- No attendee wave...yet that is.

Justin said...

an attendee wave is a good idea. we could introduce ourselves and maybe set up meet up plans or something to do after.

ObFuSc8 said...

Just started a Ga988 attendee wave...Justin what's your wave address?

maven said...

Ob: I pinged you at wave.

lora said...

Hey ObFuSc8:

Your mention of Chicago, snow, and sidewalks reminds me of something. I grew up in the Lakeview neighborhood. After a big snow, everyone who shoveled out a parking spot in front of their house would block the spot whenever their car wasn't there. People used sawhorses, traffic cones, and my favorite, old broken down tables and lawn chairs.

So bring something to hold your parking spot on the street when you have to move after the 2-hour limit. It's the Chicago way!

ObFuSc8 said...

Yeah, Lora EXACTLY. I have some jacked up old lawn chairs ready for such a thing. But seriously, if we are going to wait outside all day, I think a cooler with refreshments, chairs...etc might be handy. Doubt I can check all of that onto a flight, though.

Just Thinking said...

Anyway, now that the Gallery1988 show is coming up, I'm looking forward to meeting those of you that will be there. I live close by, but have to work that day, so I hope to be in line no later than 5ish. Maybe some kind soul will save me a place in line?! ;) Anyway, looking forward to it!!!

Still keeping my fingers crossed for a "BUY NOW" before or after the 15th...

Unknown said...

LT, sorry, thought that was for invites only! Durr.

Spent part of my evening translating hieroglyphs lol. Sort of, I don't claim any skill at it.

Anyway had a fairly good look at the inscription on the S5 DVD box. It's not possible to do much since some of the characters are unreadable. I can tell you that the ideograph meaning "priests" is repeated twice, once in association with "boat". They also use one meaning "writing instrument"; and a sign which CAN mean "time" is repeated.

There are two signs I can't identify at all. I doubt that the passage was generated for the cover; imo it was either selected randomly, or is from the Book of the Dead.

I'd post the (quite partial) transliteration, but I don't think it'd be much use. Would have to check it against some text to learn anything, it doesn't appear to contain any proper names.

ObFuSc8 said...

Talking of Make-A-Wish, I have a short story about an event I participated in.

I was part of a Mini (the original) owners club a few (ahem) years ago and one of the members of the club asked us to participate in an event.

It involved taking the Make-A-Wish kids around the Silverstone race circuit. However it wasn't just us it was all sorts of cars so we were going round with Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis and all sorts of super cars in our very small Mini Cooper S !

I used up a new set of tyres for the event but it was worth it, and despite all the big flashy cars there the Mini was a very popular choice.

Martyn said...

My sister has used make a wish before to see McFly (god I hate that band) and the one person she wanted to meet, Tom, was a dick, took one photo with her and buggered off with some groupies. Sure, she's met them like a gazillion times now but I still hate them purely for that.

Ahem, anyway, she went on to do some volunteer work for make a wish afterwards which was awesome of her, it's a very good charity.

@rev milo,

greatly disturbed by the polar furburger bear

@Lisa...

Wishing your son a speedy recovery!

@Comixguru...

If you can't find a poster buddy in the US, I'll be it, got my gf trying to get me one, as I'm not allowed anymore and I know she'll probably fail, so that leaves me and my computer free so I can get one for you if you like. As long as you give me whatever free swag they have at the event. Or a programme, that'd benlike being there but not.

ChrisL said...

Morning all.

That's a great story Zort, do you have pics of that Mini? As classic cars go I've always found it's the Mini that prompts the most smiles.

So DD is planning to attend on Tuesday. That is going to be quite a night. I do hope all of you attendees will be able to keep us up-to-date on the goings on... please don't forget that some of us will be staying awake all night to share in the excitement!

Finally attended my first two classes last night, albeit in a semi brain dead state by the time I got to it. I am so impressed by LU. I can't remember a TV show that has ever gone to so much trouble to develop such creative, intelligent and adventurous marketing. It really is thrilling. And they know this is the last season, they know we're already on board. I just don't think they needed to do any of this.

I may be missing the obvious but how does one earn the credits? At one point?

ChrisL said...

Yes Lisa, how are things today? Better I hope. All good thoughts coming your way.

ChrisL said...

I may be missing the obvious but how does one earn the credits? At WHAT point?

Zort70 said...

Chris, if you take the Jungle Survival class and then the exam you will get some credits.

The only picture online of the mini that I can find is this one. It was taken at a show and ours is the one nearest the camera.

ChrisL said...

Wow Zort, that's a beauty!

So, it's Jungle survival asap this evening then, thanks for the info.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

ahh, I love the Mini's and have always wanted one. I have a big truck lol Got to have 4 wheel here or you don't get out of the drive way in the winter. I did a nice trip down the stairs last night in the snow. The stairs are stone so there isn't much give there when you slide done them on your a$$ lol Lucky I have extra padding :-)
Joey still has a high fever. I'm glad he's going to another doc today to figure out what is wrong. I hope they figure it out right away. Thanks for the good thoughts.

Martyn said...

Oh yeah, DD going. DAMN!!!

I do have a decent sized student overdraft still, I could fly over to LA for Tuesday. No I can't i'd never hear the end of it plus i'm going to Japan in march so I need all that money. Aaaargh!

There must be a LOST fan who is a millionaire and willing to pay for everyone's airfare to get them to LA on Tuesday, surely?

thorsten said...

Lisa, except for the fever, what other symptons does Joey show? And did the temperetature change over night?

Martyn said...

Finally finished re-hanging all my posters, and i've got to say, it rather magnificent if I do say so myself.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

yeah I'm wondering that myself @Martyn lolol

Lisa-Maladylis said...

@ Thorsten, Joey got this weird lump in his cheek about a month ago about the size of a bee bee, then it grew to a marble size. I've taken him to the doc's twice for that. Probably a lymph gland. Now he has two so I called the doc yesterday and he's sending him to the Ears, nose and throat doc. He went to his fathers last night and came home with a 101 fever and sore throat. Kept trying to throw up but nothing. My most worring thing is that I have stupid new type of custody, he bounces between houses and his father is a jerk. He goes to his house tomorrow. He was more worried about his coat yesterday than Joey being sick.

Martyn said...

Ooops, forgot the link

@Lisa...

Will play the lottery on Friday and Saturday and if I win, we're going to LA damn it!

Also, can't remember if I said but I posted your boarding pass yesterday. Not sure how long it will take but the lady at the Post Office was sticking a lot of stamps on it.

thorsten said...

Lisa, relax. The fever will be a common cold/flu sideeffect. The enlarged lymphs could point to an infection in the mouth or a root canal thing. I don't think that they will be related. Does he tend to have things like these?

Lisa-Maladylis said...

could be Thorsten, he did have a tooth removed 2 months earlier. His father was having him gargle with peroxide because he wont take him to the doc, I took him in and he had a baby tooth that was infected that had to be pulled. Maybe that is it. I am a worry wort, I almost lost him as a baby with a rare disease. Gives baby's heart attacks. Now his father refuses the docs so it makes it a bit hard to deal with. That and the yelling when he feels like it.

ChrisL said...

@Lisa, Sounds like a horrible situation for you ex wise. Been there, all you can do is to try and rise above it, behave with dignity whatever is thrown at you and things do eventually change. Easier said than done I know. Good luck with the Doc today.

Meanwhile getting back on topic for a moment, we have had one email today to say that Polar Bear posters are starting to arrive.

Just Thinking said...

Zort- that's going to be really nice. We have an enclosed gas fireplace like that, and it is a treat to just press a button and sit next to it when it's chilly out. Also, when the power goes out, it still works!

Zort70 said...

It's not quite that simple for us as it is a wood burning stove.

So it's just a case of pile a load of wood on and light a match. What could possibly go wrong ?

ChrisL said...

Stand well back is my advice!

thorsten said...

Don't use Jugwood!

Zort70 said...

The Washington Post Lost chat today is with JOpinionated.

Just Thinking said...

Ahh- we've got a wood stove too. Yes, those take a little more tending. Use to have one that took coal, and we didn't know what we were doing. Found out it's not a good idea to leave the damper open too long- did you know that black cast iron can actually turn red hot?

Unknown said...

damn, i still havent gotten my Ben poster! and Polar Bears are arriving already?

Im on the east coast, so hopefully thats why :(

ReverendMilo said...

LT, I am gonna hug you.

Oh, that 'little' thing. but the 'ticket' was a loser. Thorsten, you are on my 'other' list and will have to wait for arrival, most likely February but your postal standards.

ChrisL said...

Amy Lynn, AWESOME. I'll have the family around the tree with that on the 25th.

ReverendMilo said...

yep, the thingy!

Love it,cuddling it. You rock!

mtutick said...

@Amy Good work!

@Martyn Those posters look great. Some of my favorites.

Capcom said...

G'day Argies. :-)

Nice work Zort, I also enjoyed following your extensive kitchen re-do before, when you had posted all that.

Keep the faith Lisa. xo P.S. Do you know anyone in Norway who saw the spiral? :-o

Martyn said...

@Amy Lynn...

Very impressive. If only the world were all fair!

@mtutick...

Thanks, they are three of my favourites, i'm very lucky to have all the ones I want with Swan Station on the way too, hopefully tomorrow.

MJCarp said...

amy lynn, love this one best. Certainly put me in the holiday mood. ;P You will have to take this jingle out one more week, the 16th will be deserving of your pen.

Anyone who is taking the LU courses...

My little boy is home sick today and I want to cheer him up. He's fascinated by his daddy and mommy's obsession with LOST, even though he knows he can't watch it "until he's 10".

Is there anything objectionable (maybe) or scary (probably?) in, say, the Jungle Survival class that wouldn't be appropriate for a 5.5 year old?

I've got my blu-rays ready, they are just taunting me to get started.

Thanks!
Keith

Amy Lynn said...

Thanks, LT. I have something else in store for next week's festivities.

dylansdad said...

I think the Jungle Survival class is safe for a kid to watch. Kate talks about eating ants, and that might give him ideas, lol.

Zort70 said...

Keith, nothing too scary, just a shot of the Wild Boar rushing at Locke from memory of last night.

By the way if anyone wants to see some of the classes that don't have Blu Ray disks then click here, DarkUFO has posted a page with YouTube links to them.

Zort70 said...

Amy, you are keeping up the usual high standard.

MJCarp said...

one last thing to toss out there and sorry if it was mentioned back in August; I was writing today and noticed Lost Underground Art Project is PAUL spelled backwards and now I am satisfied with my Susan Sarandon-Thelma and Louise reference from Lindelof/Cuse to read something backwards *strike that off list*

thorsten said...

Your That Strike Off List, Lotto?

MJCarp said...

thorsten, ? *scratching head*

MJCarp said...

nevermind. got it. lol

If anyone is still looking for tickets to LAX, the fares just seem to keep going down. I'm so mad that I used all my vacation days.

MJCarp said...

Amy Lynn, aren't you feeling a bit under the weather? I suspect 5 days from now you'll feel so bad that you'll be OBLIGATED to call in sick.

Amy Lynn said...

@LT, Hehehe.... but I don't get paid if I don't come in, and I don't think not eating is a good option.

Hey all! if anyone is going through clue withdraws or if anyone would like the chance to get their hands on some of the swag given away at the events: I started a clue solve. First person to solve it gets their choice of swag from various reveals. If you're interested, check it out at: www.DamonCarltonAndMe.com

@LT, Got mail from you last night! Thanks Soooooo much!! And awesome touch with the Lottery Ticket :) I didn't win, but Saturdays first 2 numbers drawn were 8 and 15!

Martyn said...

Thanks Sam G, great interview.

Justin, this puzzle has already got my brain itching to win that Hurley Gelskin. Must solve it somehow.

BTW is it a LOST phrase or a general phrase? Just so i don't waste my time.

Patmc said...

@Amy Lynn - If you get out to L.A., I'll buy you a hot dog at Pinks...

There! Problem solved! :-)

Amy Lynn said...

@Patmc, thanks for the offer. I meant the ability to eat on a daily basis. Pay rent. Stuff like that.

Unknown said...

Chicago Tribune has a Lost University article this morning.
Also doing an interview w/Darlton Cuselof, taking user-submitted questions. Don't agree w/the writer very often so, send her some good ones XD;

SamG: thanks for the link! Totally cool.

Justin: ooo a puzzle! :D

Patmc said...

@Amy Lynn - we could keep collecting Pay Pal money, and start a "Feed Amy Lynn" fund... lol

Dr Mum said...

Can an URL have a ? in it?

Patmc said...

Yes, they can...

My Polar Bear print arrived today (woohoo!) I like it much better in person as opposed to the picture online. No hidden symbols like the Ben Print, but unique nonetheless. A bit peeved that the artist signed it in pencil, but oh well. I think my poster is numbered 133 but I'll have to double check

Justin said...

Caryn - most of the artists have been signing the prints in pencil. I think that's pretty standard.

Unknown said...

oh, i still think ink would have been a better choice since pencil can be worn away pretty easily :(

thorsten said...

No, drmum.

Justin said...

Forgot to mention - Whatever swag the winner of my giveaway chooses, I will bring to the LA event with me and TRY to get Damon n Carlton to sign!! No guarantees, but I'll do my best!

ChrisL said...

Justin. Very cool. Intrigued.

Unknown said...

Dude, there's totally a MISTAKE in the His 101 exam for LostU. DX I posted to the forums but I doubt anyone will see it, what with the flaming. I know someone had to contact LU about the BD-Live problems via email - anybody have that address? Can't seem to find it.

LU users might not want to take the His 101 exam just yet if you can't stand red marks, maybe they can fix it?

Man, at this age and I STILL hate being marked wrong on exams when I know I'm correct! ROFL.

Just dropping by to say hi....have a cold and taking care....I'm going on Tuesday no matter how I feel and nothing can keep me away! I still have 4 days to get better, so I'm hopeful I'll be fine.

Lots of cool action around here: Zort's fireplace, poor Lisa's son and crazy ex, people getting their polar bear prints, Lost University classes and problems, Jo's interview today, people making plans for Tuesday, Danger attending the Art Show, among various things....

ChrisL said...

Maven, hope you feel better soon, you need to be fit for the BIG day!

Martyn said...

Question:

Didn't the invite for this show said come see all 16 SOLD OUT posters on it?

thorsten said...

Hi Maven, channeling some Island™ healing power your way!

Amy Lynn said...

@Martyn, yes, it did.

Just Thinking said...

Lo all. Yes- lots going on- starting to think we may be left behind with the party goers waving- but hope they have a great time.

Justin- even with a clue I haven't got a clue- but thanks for the contest.

Frustrating work day- but D Danger Jabberwock print waiting when I got home- huzzah! Tip on non GoMerch tubes- if it doesn't come out easily, open the other end- don't pull hard.
Recited Jabberwock in college- "One two, one two, and through and through- the vorpal blade went snicker snack!" Always loved that- makes the poster special.

Great song Amy- for sure need through verse 16.

thorsten said...

This event, opening December 15th from 7-10 PM will mark the first time that all 16 prints, released and SOLD OUT over the past 3 months at DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.com, will be seen in one room! In addition to the prints, over 20 artists will be creating original LOST-inspired paintings and sculptures (all available for purchase!) to commemorate the event.

Unknown said...

For the record, Jungle Survival Basics was PERFECT for my 5-year old. Aside from a couple quick scenes of jungle wounds. :) Thanks all.

Martyn said...

@Thorsten...

Where was that little blurb, on the G1988 website?

I'm trying to figure out if i'm slow here and thy've changed the invite or I read they were sold out in such a blurb like that.

Amy Lynn said...

I'm currently eating Bacon Popcorn. It is delicious.

ChrisL said...

Keith, I hope you'll be giving him the box sets in 5 years time!

ChrisL said...

@Thorsten, so funny you visiting EB! Very subtle. Very succinct. Very calm. Very underplayed.... Unusual for EB!

Zort70 said...

Glad we could help Keith.

Amy - Sounds very odd, but I am almost definitely going to try.

I think it was Paul that said all 16 Sold Out posters will be on display.

Haven't had time to take any tests today, but I will try some tomorrow.

Justin thanks for giving us something extra to do.

Right night all, very tired, need sleep.

Zort70 said...

Oh yes and Maven, get well soon.

ChrisL said...

Night Zort. I've been working late so no LU for me either tonight... It may have to be the weekend when I can take some time over it.

Amy Lynn said...

I may actually get to play around on LU tonight for real. Boyfriend got a new iMac, so he'll be preoccupied. :)
