I just found out we already have a line outside. **** 104

The title of this post comes courtesy of Jensen on the Gallery 1988 blog, he has been peeking outside the door and seen the good people below who are in LA waiting. (photos from Lottery Ticket and Maven)

The Kharma Initiative has also posted this in the comments -

"LOST co-producer Sam(antha) Thomas, one of the two Lost folks really behind the DCaaPB fan appreciation event, just stopped by and said hi to my wife MIB and comixguru! She was very appreciative of the fans, nearly on the verge of tears at our interest in her project!

And earlier in the evening some Lost writers brought by two bags of Starbucks for the line.

Cosmically Yours"

Morning All - Why do I have a feeling it's going to be a LONG but very FUN day? Keep the coffee coming :)

Could this be the post that breaks records with number of comments?

Great way to start the day with some great photos!

I don't think Blogger knows what it's in store for.

repost from last comment section:

Wow, folks already in line for tomorrow (well today when I post this)? I can't wait to see what comes up at 7PM. I really hope the print goes on sale Wednesday morning LA time so everyone can have a shot (also I would be at home for it). I wish I wasn't on a 1-10 shift since I drive right by Gallery 1988 everyday (might head in early tomorrow, around noon, and stop by the line and say hi/ give one of them my number to text me the URL).
I am stupidly excited for this as I finish up the season 5 blurays tonight.

Any request from the folks in line (drinks/snacks) that I could pick up for you guys/gals? Assuming they have internet access in line.

Really, if I can help those in line with some snacks post here and I will check as I head to work. If I can get a statue that would be awesome, but unlikely.

Rorschach said...

ha, zort! you are one step ahead of me!

Zort70 said...

Has anyone seen this site ?

It is of an artists - Jeff McMillan - putting some finishing touches to his art which includes the source of the picture used on the bookmark given away at UoA.

Zort70 said...

Rorschach, posted it just in case :-), I've removed mine now as it's better coming from the source.

Zort70 said...

I just noticed on that artwork that there is a big question mark in the sky, rather like the DCaaPB ones.

mrtibbs said...

That's amazing Zort! Just wanted to say take care to everyone on their way to the show. Wish I was there!
Won't be able to follow online as it's the middle of the night and got a big job to get out at work so no chance of stopping up.

Also, here's my latest fan art offering. Hopefully will be able to collaborate with Dusty to make this available.

Take care all

John LaHair said...

@Zort - must restrain from looking at sites with art from tonight. Can I do it? Nope.

I'm like a kid who's discovered the place where his parents hides all the Christmas gifts.

Love Jeff's piece. Hoping that there are some type of reproductions for sale of artwork unveiled tonight. Originals could be very pricey (that is if they even go up for sale).

justingallegos said...

FIRST ONE IN LINE! NOT IN FEATURED IN THE PICTURE THOGH :( it's 1:20 pst right now and there's about ten people here

Zort70 said...

mrtibbs, loving the Faraday piece

all I drempt about last night was going to gallery 1988. I was 12 and my mom said you want to go, so lets go. we left a note for my dad, ran to the airport and went to LA then walked to the gallery from the airport with my little sister and brother in tow lolol I was sad to wake up and be a adult and still in snowy NH

Rorschach said...

@dropdeadjust418
10 people in line 17.5 hours early...sweet Jesus, we lost fans are dorks, in a good way (or at least a way I am also guilty of). Can't wait for tomorrow to see the last print and Wednesday when I can see all 16 for myself.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

here's better photos of that LOST painting I found this morning. Right-Here

Zort70 said...

Thanks Lisa, those pics are great, I just realised that the question mark is smoke.

Ellen said...

What a terrific way to spend time! Wonderful pics too....:D
xxoo

Zort70 said...

I've put some info on the Jeff Mcmillan painting and a comaprison of the bookmark on the main page.

mrtibbs said...

Thanks Zort.
The Jeff Mcmillan painting looks awesome!

Justin said...

@mrtibbs - GREAT piece! I got one done and screen-printed as well. If things don't work out with Dusty, let me know. I'll let you know where I got mine printed and the costs. Those at the gallery tomorrow will get a sneak peek! I'm bringing them with me so I can give one to Darlton :)

Justin said...

Oh, and the Justin in line is not me unfortunately :(

I won't get there till tomorrow late afternoon/early evening...thinking I'm going to be behind a hundred people at this rate...

ChrisL said...

OMG. This is fantastic!

@ lol at your dream (but with a hint of sadness that it was just a dream). We're all represented there in spirit.

Joey said...

wow people are already in line?? I just got to my family's house in Northridge a couple of hours ago and will join soon tomorrow. Do we need tickets or anything??

Lisa-Maladylis said...

and I was young and skinny again in my dream lol
here's another neat web site that has a couple small spoilers (same as we have seen before) about the 1988 show today and the season 5 disks.
EWarticle

Zort70 said...

Joey - no tickets needed as far as we know.

Joey said...

sweet deal. i hope getting there about 5 will still be ok. That is when i was planning to go, def didn't think there would already be a line lol

ChrisL said...

Lisa - you guesses my dream post was aimed at you! Well done, there should of course have been an @Lisa in there!

I'm guessing that there will be a massive crowd at G1988 by lunchtime.

ChrisL said...

Ob boy *guessed*, too busy and too excited to be able to spell properly today!

Lisa-Maladylis said...

lol @Chris, yeah I knew what you meant. I don't think I slept too much since I'm quite tired still so no worries about the spelling. No one will notice at this early of a hour.

justingallegos said...

Brrrr holding it down right now with MrShow and ComixGuru... Jensen is partying above us and laughing down at us. SMH! Let us in!

comixguru said...

It's 2:47AM here in L.A. In line. Cold. But in good spirits. Producer Sam Thomas stopped by around 12am to say how appreciative she us of us being out here. "this has been a Two year labor of love for us. I think you guys will really like the show. You will be glad you were one of the first people in line"

i will be updating sparingly to conserve iPhone battery power. Go team LostARGS! :)

Zort70 said...

Big warm thoughts to dropdeadjust418 and comixguru.

The wait will be worth it.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

completely envious comixguru , completely envious !! so wish I was there with you.

mrtibbs said...

@ Justin - Thanks man, I'll bear it in mind.

Having a sneaky peek occasionally at work, nice to hear from you comix, stay safe and warm

mistersh0w said...

In line next to comixguru, who I'm sure is enjoying our early morn delirium! It's fairly freezing, under a blanket. Still not warming up... Need to get at least 3 hours of sleep.

We're being "entertained" by an early morning drifter... Kind of scary. LOST!!

Kelly said...

Everyone stay warm and have fun. So wish I was out there with you!

andalone said...

@mrtibbs - I love your take on Faraday! I can't wait for it to be available!

Kelly said...

For those in line, sunrise is at 6:51am your time. Almost there...

Maybe you could sing that famous "99 cans of Dharma Beer on the wall" song. That would take a good 20 minutes or so :)

ChrisL said...

mistersh0w and comix, you guys are very cool (well, cold actually by the sound of it!). Representing the Lostargers. warm thoughts to you.

mdogg2481 said...

As usual following you guys from Australia (10.30pm), jealous as hell

I'm now following lottery_ticket on Twitter for updates (please don't block me - @mdogg2481) anyone else keen to supply updates around the world??

Also just posted a link to a blog entry of Jensen who was working inside on set up crew and they seem so excited you guys are making the effort

Good Luck with it all, KEEP WARM

Martyn said...

Sometimes I wonder if they ever expected all of this to take off the way it has.

Warm thoughts to all people in the queue. Should take it in shifts to sleep!

Drama said...

I think there's a big argument for saying the appeal of this was underestimated... flippers aside, the demand is phenomenal. I wish I could be there... be in England sucks at times! Pick me up a Tawaret somebody please - please?

Excited at the prospect of what you guys will get for being first in line...

Lisa-Maladylis said...

btw @Martyn, I was just commenting on your power rangers, not trying to get them lol I just think it's funny that you found some in your house. I'm always buying them, he probably has the one's you found plus all the other renditions of every one ever made x2 lol

Martyn said...

lol, ohhhhhhhh, I didn't see your comment on the power rangers is why I was confused. Yeah, I had a lot, found the blue baboon thing that was an assistant to Rita on sunday, never did get Goldar though, hmmm. But yeah, I was a HUGE PR fan, got the movie for my birthday last year which reminded me how corny it was but i'll glady rewatch the Original Power Rangers any day of the week!

ChrisL said...

@Martyn, I doubt they had the slightest idea how this would take off. I expect to see any number of this cross-creative fields marketing efforts over the next year... none of them quite hitting the mark. The guys in the backroom creating this have awesome talent.

ChrisL said...

Plus they have a supreme show to build it around.

Zort70 said...

I've posted a picture on the main page of the Edwin Ushiro painting that mdogg2481 sent us.

mistersh0w said...

The frightening maybe homeless woman has finally left... In between kisses/hugs/cigarette ash, we've all learned a little something: don't hang out on the sidewalk in LA past 1am...

Drama said...

OMG, I LOVE the Ushiro pic.. I wonder if there will be prints available? The flames look great.

Drama said...

and yes, I finally got around to putting a pic by my name. SO SUE ME. Apologies - I'm cranky that I'm not in LA right now.

Unknown said...

Quick question: What time is the final url revealed? Is it today at 7 PM? I just want to make sure.

mungonna said...

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLTTTTTT!!

Unknown said...

Takes a special kind of person to stay overnight on the street in LA by choice, I think.

Off to catch my flight, might as well have been there already on the sidewalk because I didn't sleep! Worse than Christmas Eve as a kid. Will do my best w/extra swag if possible - if early liners are sign tho don't have high hopes about getting there at 12:30ish lol.

Can't do much from event w/phone of average intelligence but will have lots of high rez pics afterwards :3

Everybody HAVE FUN TODAY ONLINE LINE PARTY WOOT!

Drama said...

Serious. If anyone can pick me up anything, it'll make my christmas. Having crapped out on all the prints so far, i'd love a souvenir from this experience!

Zort70 said...

Mike, no one knows, you'll have to keep following along with the rest of us.

Also we assume that the EW article is correct and the print will not actually be for sale until the next day.

Unknown said...

Damn, my sleeping habbits are very off. I'm not sure how to handle this. Back to the drawing board

mungonna said...

A beautiful tableau begins to unfold as we weave a day out of the connectivity between all of the LOST Fans.

I'm off, hold on gang, relief is on its way.

Zort70 said...

Bon Voyage MEL

ChrisL said...

Have a glorious time MEL!

These other 25 pieces are going to be on sale at the gallery... I suspect they'll be gone in an hour.

Amy Lynn said...

Happy Gallery Day, all. Hope everyone in line is keeping warm.

Tess315 said...

I have read through all the posts yet. I can tell already I'm going to be behind all day. :)

I'm so excited that I have that bookmark! It means even more to me now. Thanks again, so much to Salvoh at Dark's forum who sent it to me.

Tess315 said...

arggg haven't read...

Too funny. But she seemed to be hameless. :)

I wouldn't mind a Taweret statue if possible. If not that's cool too.

Everyone have a great day can't wait for the reports to start coming in.

andalone said...

OT a bit, but I wanted to congratulate comixguru. She worked on The Princess and the Frog, and it has been nominated for a Golden Globe. It was also #1 at the box office last weekend.

Martyn said...

@andalone...

Wow, did not know that. Congratulations comixguru! If only my animations were anywhere near as good...

andalone said...

@Martyn She got the news that she would be included in the credits right before it was released. There are very talented people in this group. I am in awe.

Sam G said...

I'm so happy the LOST writers and Samantha Thomas stopped by. I got to meet Gregg Nations a few times during the writers strike and brought them DHARMA supplies and notes from the fans, while they were picketing, it really meant a lot to them to have such great fan support. I will be there later on in the day.
Keep warm.

Sam G said...

Edwin Ushiro's painting is beautiful

IWish said...

I agree, Sam. So....are you getting excited? I told you that I would ask you again in the a.m. ;)

andalone said...

I was just thinking (again) that I am so grateful that none of the characters on LOST have "pointed ears". Lord knows I would be wearing them at a fan convention fifteen years from now....

Sam G said...

I just got a big email from Gallery 1988 about the event

Sam G said...

Hi Seaque

Yes, excited. Can't be there for a while yet.

Martyn said...

@andalone...

That's pretty impressive, i'll have to look out for her name when it finally get's released in the UK.

Amy Lynn said...

Congrats to comixguru! Hope she's going to have an awesome time celebrating!

Tynett said...

Hey Guys, my hubby will be there later in the day, how long is the line, if he gets there by noon will he still get in :(

Zort70 said...

I just posted some more images that should be part of the show tonight.

Warning, the second one is a bit gory, so keep small children away.

Amy Lynn said...

These are great, Zort. Thanks for posting them. I like the Ushiro one in particular.

ChrisL said...

Now we're talking art. I want both of those!

comixguru said...

Looks like Eric Tan (artist of The Crash) will be there:

Drama said...

You guys could spend the time arguing over who's going to pick me up a statue, or cool little print. I'll try and find something fun to exchange (along with the money for it, obviously) in the name of christmas!

Eugene said...

Sleeping in line on the sidewalk. Good times for sure. Ouch. Stay warm and congrats CG.

ChrisL said...

Eric Tan! This just gets better and better.

MilkcanRocks said...

I think the top-most piece is Julian Callos' art for the show - the one with Ben sitting on the skull 'fishing'. Callos did a piece for the SF Gallery 1988 show that looks similar in theme and style. Check it out here - http://g1988pp09.blogspot.com/

As for Pardees' piece, I am not at all disappointed. Fantastic, incredible, and I am only sad that I dont' get to see it in person. Kinda wished for a smoke monster vs. freighter mercenaries, but this is just as good! Everyone have fun at the event!

Mrs Z said...

So excited for the event today, even though I'll just be attending vicariously! Thanks to everyone keeping us updated on the line and the street folk stopping by. I hope it's starting to warm up! Can't wait for tonight!!

Good morning from sunny cool (and cool) LA. I'm up with the seagulls and the surf. Expecting a crazy Tucsonian here at little later. We'll comb the beach then head up to the LINE where I will start taking NAMES for who attended. This will be my last *sob* and final LIST.

comixguru, mistersh0w, Alex and Party of 9, Waaaaaaaaaalt! good morning. you are deserving of whatever awaits you behind Door Number 7020 for the suffering that went on last night and will continue into the wee hours of today.

More good news - Eric Tan! We will try to do our best to get some words and photos of everything. If it does not make it live, we will post pre-recorded as soon as we sober up.

Peace and Love from beautiful downtown Santa Monica. Lotto

comixguru said...

The style of art for Ben Fishing on a polar bear skull reminds me of this artist, James Jean, who mostly does cover art for the Fables comic series.

Keep those sneak peeks of art coming, they're great!
