The Future - It's Closer Than You Think. 319

So is this the end ? Well not quite yet, there are a few things left to tidy up and thanks to the generosity of our Losties we will be able to have a small swag giveaway at some point in the near future.

That isn't all...

Dear those who buy stuff to sell on eBay at outrageous prices,

You guys suck. You prey upon us honest fans that really just want the art for it's beauty and for it's theme. $1000 for this last print? That's insane, people. Leave the art to those who honestly love it.

To everybody else,

It's been fun watching you over the past month, but mainly staying quiet (how true to life). If you wanna make a deal with a guy who tried to no avail to get a print several times, here I am. I got some napkins from Chicago to trade.

Namaste!

Plaid Lantern (aka, Matt)

@Plaid Lantern
Justin has an amazing project going now that will allow you to get a poster and a shot at event swag, and have fun too! You will not be disappointed.

I took a drive down to the gallery today and picked up an XL t-shirt for myself and a second XL for anyone who might still be interested.

Price + sales tax + shipping to your location + Paypal fees = probably around $35 or so, depending upon your zip code.

At any rate, everything looks fantastic in person, and it's worth the trip if you have any chance of visiting. It was a great way to mark the end of this whole experience.

Spy Hill Skates said...

I figured out the first two clues, but not the URL. This is fun!

Spy Hill Skates said...

I want that extra t-shirt. PayPal is ready!

spyhillskates(at)gmail(dot)com

dylansdad said...

OK, the shirt is on hold for spyhillskates. Sorry I don't have more to offer!

Unknown said...

Does anyone know how good the customer support is at returning emails? I shot them one about shipping for the poster #16 earlier today and I'm curious as to when/if they'll get back

comixguru said...

Hey All! The picture of the LostARGS print was not in the writer's ROOM- just in their office space. They have an open area kind of like a reception area with a couple of desks where it was laying on. Still very cool to see it there :)

Justin- looking forward to seeing your art! Sorry I missed seeing it at the event.

and man- i wish I could have joined you guys at the Village Idiot. It looks like you guys had a great time! :) I just had to get home to get some sleep. I'm an old lady now.

g'night!

I guess we will find out what's going on in about 12 hours mate (if my world clock iPhone app is right)

Excited, but would like a bit more info I guess...

The internet is great, Lostargs.com is terrific.

But nothing beats live, one-to-one (or one-to-many, or one-to-hundreds-of-like-minded-folks-jam-packed-into-a-small-gallery-space) CONTACT and CONNECTION - good, bad, and beautiful all. I don't curse, so I'll say that's a #!@frelling&!@ AMAZING photo up there of the Village Idiots! So nice to see that gang of stranger-friends together and having fun (Milo, I'm finally starting to think you're an OK guy:) That photo is like a Demarais family portrait. Big, honest smiles.

I wasn't there, but thanks so much to those in LA and those online for an amazing and exciting time this past week!

Thanks to MEL for the big crazy smile and THUMBS UP when you got Carlton to sign your DCaaPB print. Wished there was a Patsy singalong too - there's always next time!

Anne, thanks for the laugh when I read your business card today. You could have sold your plush Polar Bear at the gallery and made a few hundred bucks.

Milo, thanks greatly for the vids, helped so much to see my wife down in the pit, and to see a lot of the artwork - you did good. (You knew more about the artists than the bouncer with the VIP list!)

LT, Maven, comixguru, Thank You for welcoming my wife to the city and inviting her to dinner the day before the show. You helped her feel like part of the gang, and took care of her just like you promised. She says you're all a great bunch of women, and I agree without question.

Obfusc8 - shirts! You done good too. Can't believe we have them! We'll visit you in Chicago some day.

I still haven't heard half the stories from the last few days, but from what I've heard, Mib took a liking to all the rest of the Village Idiots, plus many more. Can't wait to hear the rest.

Sam, Noreen, Jensen, Damon, Carlton, Daniel D. (no headlock?), Misha, Paul, Heather, Ali, Sprout, Adam, Eddie, Gregg (yo!), Gallery1988 staff, Mike, Joe, Manda, Salvoh, Unlocke, Leia, Thomas, Tyler, Dan - you may not be reading this, but Thank You for Appreciating us so well, and for your generosity and imagination.

Membership to The Kharma Initiative approved for all of you.

If only comixguru was a Village Idiot too, but sleep was probably a good idea!

Cosmically Yours

Justin said...

thanks to ALL who are participating :) Really makes me feel like it's worth while!

Justin said...

@KI - I can say that Rev is definitely an OK guy! And I had a great time getting to know Mib and the rest of the gang! Wish you coulda been there!

-One of the village idiots :)

The Kharma Initiative said...

@Justin Oh, I figured out a while ago that Milo is (mostly) harmless!

Tried out your puzzle - really cool that you're doing this to help ease us down from months of puzzling and obsessive craziness. As I told Alice, You've got to give it away = The Kharma Initiative, so membership approved! (we need to come up with a patch or something).

Milo, sorry to hear about your delayed flight and daughter's Christmas thing. Mib's was too, but not so bad.

mdogg2481 said...

Posted earlier about Justin's site on my Tumblr and in 15 mins I had four mates ring and ask what the URL was

None of them were involved in DCPB, and only two of them even watch LOST!!!

I didn't tell...

Your efforts are appreciated, and I already purchased your print in hope my funds will help lead to more works from you.

There are so many areas not touched on in the DCPB 16 ... I would love to see something Desmond/Farraday themed along the lines of "THE CONSTANT"

If you are the man with the talent to bring them to us, why stop now?

** Maybe check your freight charge to Australia and make sure not short-changing yourself too mate, it seemed pretty cheap **

Andrew! said...

hey, i was under the impression i didn't get the poster last night, but i got a charge on my credit card. does that mean i could have still gotten it? how would i figure that out? hass anyone else been charged for a poster they didn't get?

Lisa-Maladylis said...

@Andrew, sounds like you got the poster. They wouldn't charge you for it unless you did.

Good morning all...... 4 degrees here when we woke up. burrrr too cold !! I forgot to make someone's Santa suit for Monday so I will be very busy sewing today. Ugh, I don't feel like making it, I want to play LOST ! I'll be here when I can, I'm not going to start it till I'm fully awake say at noon lol

Tess315 said...

Good morning all.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

Morning Sayid'sgirl TGIF ! horray, I can sleep in tomorrow ! :-)

ChrisL said...

Afternoon/Morning all. Just in to work after watching daughter in her School Christmas play. Tears wiped away, I'm ready to play. Well, actually, I have to do some work!

ChrisL said...

Lisa, you need to sleep in girl, you get up WAY too early. Good luck with the Santa Suit.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

I don't think I can Chris, I was just informed this morning that were getting up way to late in the morning so the clocks alarms will be set for quarter of 4 am tomorrow morning. eekkk ! It's funny, I over heard his brother asking him if I was a bitch like a month after Kevin got here. Kevin said no, of course not. Hahaha Lack of sleep tends to put me on the bit of the grouchy side. lol

Tess315 said...

Hi Lisa
I can sleep in for the next to weeks Christmas break for my daughter.

ReverendMilo said...

TY Karma, that does mean a lot to me. Getting to apologize in person to Mib for flaming her and her blog back in the earlier days was a very welcome surprise and I am glad that I got the opportunity.

She is a doll and so are your kids.

I am still bummed that I missed little one's holiday pageant. Her great aunt did get her to the pageant for me, and now I am trying to find some parent from her school that has video of it so I can see. But she sang me her songs in the car ride back from her aunt's.

The plane delay sucked. The emergency slide fell off the door when they tried to close it so we could fly away. They kept us on the plane for an hour at the gate, then decided to turn on a movie, then decided they would let us de-plane to stretch out legs. We couldnt really leave the gate area as they told us it would be fixed in "probably 15 minutes and we needed to be ready to re-board". They repeated that spiel every 15 minutes for more 4 hours. The LAX to DFW nonstop flight, only took me 10 hours. I got to watch the 2 planes that I thought would get me home too late for the pageant, board and take off.

Still, it was my first vacation in 3 years, and even if it was only for 24 hours, it was so rewarding.

Can't wait to start Justin's game. I'm hopinig that I am caught up enough on work to goof around with it a bit today while the other partners aren't lookin!

ChrisL said...

Lisa. You don't want to know how grumpy I would be if I had an alarm going off at 4 in the morning! (Unless of course it's for a poster reveal) ;-)

RobPerrin said...

@comixguru Clearly the poster is in a temporary home until the good people of LOST free up some premium wall space in the writers room. Should be up within a couple of days. Either that or they plan to use it as an upscale coaster for TPTB coffee cups.

andalone said...

@MEL - you are on the CNN video of gallery opening (at 1:10 mark).
link

Tess315 said...

Hey MEL you made on CNN.

Amy Lynn said...

That is too cool! MEL!

RobPerrin said...

Oh oh, MEL collides with the mainstream media. Could be an explosion bigger than Jughead. Maybe there'll be a reset and we'll start DCAAPB all over again.

Ellen B said...

@KI, I remember well back in the early nineties when I first joined AOL, and made a bunch of online friends in chat rooms. But everything changed and got better when we met in person. There's nothing like it!

Zort70 said...

Just saw the news, and put the vid on the main page

Ellen B said...

That CNN piece is so cool. I'm trying to stop it at 1:10 to see MEL!

Ellen B said...

Zort, cool stuff! And you put "my" Hurley sculpture at the beginning of the video (I purchased it)!

Amy Lynn said...

I read this on EB, so take it with a grain of salt, but apparently Terry O'Quinn has a copy of Locke's Secret. :)

ChrisL said...

YAY! MEL Vs CNN! Too many CAPS!

ChrisL said...

Ellen B, You got the Hurley. Too cool!

Zort70 said...

Ellen - it was the picture that is chosen by the video streaming service, but I'm happy to take credit :-)

Ellen B said...

ChrisL, yep, I got the Hurley. That's my "consolation" for not getting print #16 (and therefore missing a full set by 1). Zort, even if you didn't pick it, I was glad to see it! I'm sure it won't come until after the first of the year, after the exhibit is over, etc.

andalone said...

Congratulations on the purchase Ellen! It seems quite a few of the art pieces were purchased from LostArgers. It would be great to have a master list of who purchased what. Is that a possibility Zort?

Ellen B said...

I also purchased a couple of the Scott Campbell "showdown" pieces.

andalone said...

Those are great! Which ones did you get?

Ellen B said...

Shannon and Vincent, and the two pilots.

I picked up your print yesterday, great work!

Lisa-Maladylis said...

Congrats Joey (I love your name btw, that's my 10 years old name as well.) sounds like your doing very well for yourself !

MJCarp said...

good morning. sorry for business-like comments here in the midst of our MEL fun . . .

first, thanks to all that enjoyed the video sent up from LA and got to play along with those in attendance. secondly, if you contacted comixguru regarding charter and want to do same with me, you may do so lotto dot ticket dot 108 @gmail.com. I will respond to any concerns you may have. I will not address them on this blog as requested by Zort.

I have started collecting order numbers for THE LIST. Please go to DarkUFO forums over the weekend to see if I was able to locate you information. If it is not there and you would like added, same e-address as above will work. THE LIST will come to its conclusion on Dec. 31 and if you want to print out, please do so after that date. I will try to have all edits completed by that time.

The term fan-appreciation was used by the LOST team as their motivating factor for this ARG. We've discussed whether the term seemed appropriate on a couple of occasions ;) But today I would like use it personally. My motivations for joining The Lostarg Blog is fan based, but not of the show. I am a fan of the people who post here. I appreciate the clever, smart, and creative folk who contributed to our fun. Zort70, maven, scoutpost, Dennis, memphish and all over at The Lost Community, I thank you sincerely for opening up space for me to 'play in your sandbox.' "Nothing last forever" logically reads that something does. So I'll take what was given in the spirit which it was intended. But please know that it was received in my heart for each and EVERY one who calls themselves a LOST fan. I expressed to Mr. Cuse and Mr. Lindelof at the end of the evening what Lostargs has meant to me and others who met for the first time on Tuesday. You have seen the video and pictures. It is in the sharing of our stories that we come together.

Please be assured that the object so sought after has started on its own journey away from me. It will carry our love with it as it should be. I hope to share this story with you in the new year.

Lotto

ChrisL said...

And thank you LT for all of your efforts to assist everyone in getting the best out of the whole project. Very much appreciated.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

Lotto, it has been a blast getting to know you here at the LostARG and I hope this post isn't a good bye from you. It's sad that things like the competition for the posters has brought people at odds but I hope that everyone can come back together as friends now that it is done. It has been a please and I do hope you and Comixguru stick around since I consider you both friends. happy holidays !

Joey said...

Lisa- Thank you :-)

Thanks for all your hard work Lotto! It was great meeting you on Tuesday!

I asked the writers a few of my lost questions, but every day I think of new stuff I should have asked haha

ChrisL said...

I just bought Rousseau vs. Baby. Your fault Ellen for putting the thought in my head that I deserved some consolation for missing out on 16!

andalone said...

@ChrisL -Yay! (again) for consolation prizes to oneself! -

ChrisL said...

andalone, thanks :-) I do feel somewhat consoled.

Martyn said...

Just a quick stop as i'm too ill to bother reading all the comments i've missed, so i'll comment on what i saw while I scanned the pages.

EllenB, can't believe you bought the hurley figure, that is too cool. Wish I could afford the locke figure.

ChrisL, rousseau vs baby, not entirely sure what that is but congrats none the less

Can't believe there is a free poster tonight, will have to find a decent printer shop to get it made 18x24.

Comixguru, just got your AWESOME xmas card, really appreciate it. But annoyed me a little that I received it before my Polar Bear poster. Just when I gain a little respect for the royal mail, they go and lose it straight away. Although, parcel force are run as a seperate company, they are part of the royal mail so my complaint stands.

Yeah!

maven said...

I was so lucky to one of the "homeless people"! Congrats to MEL and Patmc for making it to the big time! Meeting so many of you guys in person was a dream come true and far exceeded my expectations. To be among so many Lost fans that share my obsession was a feeling of validation and comradeship. It was such a pleasure to meet and partake in such an epic celebration which was an exceptional experience! It was so unfortunate that all who post here could not make it, but (as represented by Andalone) everyone was there in spirit!

Thanks, of course, goes to our leader here at LostArgs, Zort70, who has been such a stellar Admin and has gone above and beyond keeping us informed and on our best behavior! Dennis, a good TLC friend, also pitched in as Admin and helped out as usual. Lottery Ticket, a new friend, did a fantastic job making sure everyone was following who they needed to on Twitter at each reveal and is the best List Maker I know! Comixguru also was on top of things and your Name Tag is one of my souvenirs from this experience. MEL, who I always thought was a little off-the-wall, turned out to be a wonderful, thoughtful person. Reverend Milo, sorry you missed your daughter's pageant and you had the plane flight from hell, but you did a fantastic job keeping those left behind involved in all the festivities! And it was great seeing my longtime TLC buddy and Comic Con roomie, Scoutpost, again and we could share another Lost experience together.

The list can go on and on, and the memories can go on and on. I truly hope that this is not the end of anything. We still have S6 to discuss, speculate, argue, disagree about, and watch in wonder together. Hope you all come to The Lost Community to share S6 together. And I hope it does go on and on after that dreaded day the series ends!

Love to all, Maven

ChrisL said...

Lovely words Maven.

Martyn, get well soon. My PB arrived yesterday and everyone knows it takes a couple more days for things to reach the Midlands right? ;-)

RobPerrin said...

Ellen B - Congratulations! I thought Garcia may have grabbed the Hurley figure, but glad to hear it was you!

Martyn said...

Lol, yeah, I guess a lot of people around the area are a little bit slower than usual, saw one postman this morning wearing shorts. it's minus 3 degrees man!

But usually, the posters took two weeks from ordering to arrive, so a little disappointed, especially as I have to send it off to a kind mine in LA who trusted me enough to send me his swan and love triangle before I even got my poster. Otherwise, i'd endure the wait but as I feel like i'm letting someone down, i feel more anxious about it's arrival. Still waiting on my DD Jabberwock print too.

Martyn said...

Oh, and my consolation for not going to LA is to go to the Hawaii LOST premiere event.

Said it before but so damned excited, i'm just telling it anyone three times over. So you're all due one more, i'll save it for later though.

maven said...

Oh, Martyn...so happy for you! :)

ChrisL said...

That's going to be an awesome trip Martyn. We all expect postcards!

Amy Lynn said...

That is an awesome trip. If I thought my boyfriend could survive 9 hours on a plane, we'd totally be going.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

Martyn, I'm so jealous !! I hope you get better fast as well. No time to be sick ! Hey did you get your package yet ? Let me know when it gets there.

Martyn said...

Thanks for well wishes, a lot better today, don't feel dizzy or disorientated.

@Amy Lynn...

If I can deal with 19 hours just to see the premiere that I can watch at home 3 days later, i'm sure your bf will be more than willing.

@ChrisL...

I'll send a virtual postcard out. Does that count?

@Lisa...

Will do, your package is number 2 on my most anticipated delivery list, with only DD Jabberwock print beating you.

Right, off to book the flights and get some zzzz's before 10 tonight. Won't be around tomorrow, gf's birthday so gotta put on my awesome bf suit and ignore the internet for the day.

Amy Lynn said...

@Martyn, bf won't get on a plane at all, ever.

Martyn said...

@Amy Lynn...

Ah! That does make it a little bit of an issue then, lol

Scoutpost said...

@Martyn- AWESOME news! Going to the premiere event will make up for L.A. I'm sure.

Ellen B said...

Sorry I have missed some messages! ChrisL, good for you! I added Ben/Widmore to my collection of purchases from Gallery 1988. Consolation prizes are groovy!

Ellen B said...

RobPerrin, I will send a picture of me with the Hurley sculpture to Jorge, once I get it! Now I have to go order new glasses. I misplaced mine last night at hubby's holiday party. I can't even drive! Later, friends!

Hello there ARG peeps!

Taking a little work break. Feels weird getting back to life after the last 2 days and knowing Frame 16 is done.

I said this when I stepped out of the shadows here and stopped lurking a few months ago, but it feels appropriate to repeat it at this time, when DCaaPB has drawn to a close, with all 16 Frames found. The clues, the puzzles, the reveals and, of course, the screen prints have been fun, but it is the friends and fellowship formed in this community that is the ultimate prize. Yeah, yeah -- it's sappy, but true.

Thank you Dennis and Zort for creating and maintaining this forum that is the foundation which allows this fellowship to exist.

And thanks of course to each of you intelligent, enthusiastic and generous fellow LOST fans who post here. It was my extreme pleasure to have met comixguru, maven, mib, mistershow, jawapez, MEL, Reverend Milo, Joey, Dennis, Scoutpost, Amy, LT, Justin and Anne (sorry if I left any one out). I wish we all could have met, but the twitterfeeds and live streaming coverage made it feel as if we were there together. LT and Milo deserve a special thanks for so generously giving their time to make that possible during the chaos.

End saptastic comment.

Martyn said...

@LotteryTicket...

Yes I am! Fantastic package if you ask me, roxanna was the one who gave me the link. I checked my twitter this morning to see he even tweeted about it and said me an my WIFE are going, which scared me a little and then realised he meant my gf.

Going to be great fun though and will try to meet up with unlocke and roxanne. I believe codysmom, who I was nattering away too during rev milos live G88 feed, said she may be going too, so would be cool to meet her too!

Justin said...

@Zort - I'm taking a little break from posting the clues on DamonCarltonAndMe.com so that we can all see what you have in store for us here! I posted a little plug for it on my site. Hope you don't mind! Cant wait to see what you've got!!

Zort70 said...

Don't mind at all Justin, that was very thoughtful of you.

I'm getting pre-reveal nerves now.

Justin said...

lol I TOTALLY got that too. kinda glad people found mine before I expected them to and that they liked it. I'd be having an anxiety attack before releasing my final clue!

ObFuSc8 said...

Just finished reading some of the last bunch of comments.

Justin, the puzzle is fun and I'm glad so many people are enjoying your print. I thought the same thing about a camera/mic when I saw comixguru's pic. If we tweeted something to that effect, I'd bet we could play with their minds a little...

MEL on CNN?!! What that metallic hum I hear? Are the Langoliers coming?!!

Sandman90 -- good guessing. But for the record ObFuSc8=obfuscate. The screen name is something I have used since the XFiles days, has nothing to so with my "real life".

LOST S6 premier sneak preview in Hawaii -- wow. Sounds like Unlocke, roxanna and Martyn will have a great time. I guess its not actually a spoiler if it's a sneak preview...I'll begin agonizing now about deciding to fly out.

EllenB -- congrats on picking up Wade Schin's Hurley sculpture. I thought about that one for awhile, but have The Hatch and hopefully Danger 1/300's and one of the LOST showdowns. I am sure you will give him a great home.

ObFuSc8 said...

And for anyone wondering, who may have the $$ -- the #1/300 Tyler Stout for LOST with Darlton's sig will go up for auction at some point with proceeds to go to charity (I think The Children's Defense Fund like the rest of the #1/300's). G1988 will let people know when.

Hey Martyn, I forgot to mention to you... you posted a little while ago about not getting your Jabberwock print, and that you had only just gotten (then) a delivery notice. I was going to say that sometimes DD sends out his delivery notices long after he ships. So it has, most likely been in the mail longer than you realize. I'm sure yuo'll get it soon. I'm as green as that print, with envy. Also because youre going to LOST premiere. Nicely done.

I'm in southwest Virginia. It started snowing about 2 hours ago, and we have about 3 inches already. Forecast is for 18 inches by tomorrow, and the governor just declared a state of emergency. People here are totally freaking out; most years the total snowfall for the whole winter is maybe 5 inches. Having lived in Chicago for 45 years before moving here 2 years ago, it's really not that big a deal for me. As long as I have internet access, I'm happy to just hibernate for a few days, dreaming of the day that my LOST print arrives in the mail...

Hi! I've been away a bit. Busy with Christmas stuff.
@Martyn: I'll be there in Hawaii, too, at the premiere! I'm so excited! I took advantage of the same package deal (excellent price), but we're using my husband's mileage to get 4 almost free ($200 short) plane tickets. We're celebrating 2 birthdays and a graduation, plus Lost, of course! I'll be looking out for you and anyone else there. Should be an unforgettable experience!

Justin said...

Thanks Milo! That's awesome! Still trying to figure out yours between the small periods of free time I have.

And Ob - saw you plug my site on Abc's forums! Can't tell you enough how awesome you are!

And A big thanks to everyone participating!! the new clue will go up later tonight for anyone that hasn't been able to guess it yet. I really appreciate all the compliments, totally makes it worth all the time and effort :))))

Now just waiting for Zort's big reveal!! 30 min left? ARRRGGG

I want my DD Jabberwock to arrive tomorrow. I ordered a Shepard Fairey after you lot kept going on about him - I really like his style. This ARG has introduced me to so much cool stuff. Martyn, Ben - My DD print of "please dont worry, when i wake up ill be something new" arrived 15Dec during the G88 frenzy. Based on what I've seen of their body of work, he is my fav of the 16 DCAAPB poster artists.

Agreed Rob, DD has done some great stuff... think I may be a Dan McCarthy man though if I had to choose. Having said that... although (shock, horror) I didn't find The Crash a particularly strong LOST ARG contribution, I find Eric Tan's work in general pretty stunning. His UP posters are amazing.

Stay safe and warm. Enjoy your rewatch. I'm almost done with my second rewatch.

yeah, I'm sure it'll be here any day now. Weirdly, Jacob's Cabin was the print I came closest to getting. DD's art is amazing - I'd probably have everything on that site in my house if I could. Loving Drew Millward, too.
