EW Has 16th Poster Reveal Date ? 194

It would seem that Doc Jensen, Entertainment Weekly's LOST correspondent, has some information that has not been released via the DamonCarltonandaPolarBear.com hub page.

This information was published in the Dec 11th copy of Entertainment Weekly.

The black boxes cover a casting / character spoiler in the article.

This information was sent to us first by AndAlone, who got the information from KellyK on another forum. JPL then gave us the scanned image of the article.

First?

That's the wrong cover. That's last weeks cover. This week's has Sandra Bullock on it.

Zort70 said...

I couldn't find an online version of this weeks cover, so until I can get one this will have to do.

Claire said...

There you go! :)

Thanks Claire, much appreciated.

Np :). It was surpisingly hard to find!

Here's a FlipCam video of the LostArgs poster I just received (Thanks to the awesome work by Thorsten and ChrisL.)

BTW: This is the first time I uploaded a video to youtube! This is such a learning experience.

Amy Lynn said...

@maven, that looks GREAT.

MeSoCrazy said...

The only thing coming to mind right now is even covered in fake blood Matthew Fox you are so sexy.

Wait that wasn't the topic.

Tess315 said...

maven
It says an error occured please try later. Let me try again it may be my computer.

Tess315 said...

Yep it was me I see it now. Cool. Thanks for the video.

Happy Birthday Dennis!

So, December 16th. Cool.

Scoutpost said...

maven- think how far you've come in your computer skills since 2006! I'll have to look at the video in a bit.

So...if the last poster is "revealed"/sold the day after the art show (Wed. the 16th), who wants to buy me one (be my poster buddy) since I will no doubt be in route back to Phoenix?! stress.

maven said...

Happy Birthday to Dennis!

Thanks everyone...pictures/video do not do it justice! The stretched canvas gives it texture. I did the best I could with my limited skills!

Tess315 said...

This hit the tail end of the last post.

Hey Dennis if you're out there lurking Happy Birthday!!

Amy
Sorry you were spoiled unfortunately along with episode titles TPTB don't consider cast/character spoilers either.
I skipped over all the Asian man talk from the Spin video a few posts back.

Kelly said...

Phew - I don't have to try uploading a camera picture of the article! Thanks JPL and Andalone.

Really should have put a scanner on the holiday list! :)

Happy Birthday Dennis

Great video Maven

Capcom said...

Well, I'll try for the poster whether I like it or not just in case, for someone who might like it and doesn't get it. I know that sounds counter-intuitive in respect of leaving room for those who do want it, but considering all the trouble that we have with the site freaking out, if one Lostie has better luck with errors than another, it kind of makes sense. I guess. ???

Eugene said...

The poster looks amazing.

Eugene said...

I will try as well. I doubt I can afford to keep it but will try and get it to someone who misses.

MeSoCrazy said...

And now reading the article my first thought is EW just made this thing hooge (I could spell it right but that wouldn't get my point across) and two, I am now much more inclined to want the posters I have an even less of a chance getting.

Eugene said...

Me So Crazy, At least they waited this late in the game to tell the whole world about it.

maven said...

It looks like the 16th poster will be at the show, but won't BUY NOW until the 16th...next day. It's going to create a massive amount of interest in this last poster...hope those who want it can get it!

Amy Lynn said...

@maven, do you think that means we have to F5 for 24 hours?

RamHatter said...

I think most of us will be out of our minds on the 15th and 16th! Can't wait to see the poster.

andalone said...

I think there's been a shut-out in ability to create a new GoMerch account for a few weeks now. That may limit the purchase attempts to merely a 1.5 second sell-out.

Amy Lynn said...

@andalone, LOL!

Unknown said...

Nice, so I was right...

Just taking credit since I called the new poster being a Season 6 WCM since day one of this thing! :D

BTW, no one can actually see the poster yet, right? I don't see the new poster in the article, just a hint that the 16th will be a Season 6 teaser

Amy Lynn said...

The article mentions a big scavenger hunt... wonder what that has to do with?

maven said...

Yes, Thorsten...WHOA is right! LOL

@Amy Lynn: When I saw the scavenger hunt thing I first thought is THAT what we've been doing? But upon re-reading the article, I now wonder if we will be going on a scavenger hunt if we want the S6 teaser (for those of us who wants to remain spoiler-free, we won't have to partake).

andalone said...

I am feeling despondent. There is something about a definitive END date of the Art Project that is leaving me with poster separation anxiety :(

Justin said...

@maven and thorsten and whoever else contributed in getting the poster made - looks great!! you guys did a fantastic job! :)

Anywho, yeah it sounds like there might be a scavenger hunt at gallery 1988. I've heard they've done that there before so it'd make sense. I'm getting more and more excited for this thing! :)

ReverendMilo said...

Full bleed no less!!

I am soo happy because still no sign of my paper man!!!

I may have to seek out some paper over the weekend, but time is getting short!

ChrisL said...

Maven, thanks for posting the video - looks great.

I'm not sure what to make of this 16th availability business.

MJCarp said...

maven, yeah! congrats on first YouTube upload. Woah! back at you Thorsten. Looks great.
I have created a graphic for you that will show you who's who in the Lost ARG poster. Finishing up later this afternoon for evening download.

Happy Birthday, Dennis. Look forward to meeting you.

16th starts at 12:01 a.m. just a thought. I would suggest all attending bring a cheat sheet, looks like 'fun and games' may be on the agenda.

Since this topic is back to LA news, just on the off-chance you did not know, I have booked flight to LA. Ob_fuSc8, Scoutpost, Anne and Lottery Ticket are teaming up with reverend, comixguru, MEL, justin, SamG, andalone (by proxy), Ateamblog.com, patmc, maven, Dennis and 30 more of our closest and bestest LostARG buddies to bring you wall to wall coverage of events "As They Happen." I'm very excited about the possibility of purchasing the 16th in LA. Just hope it's before the plane leaves the ground!

Again, any one who reads this blog and has a Go!Merch acccount is asked to please try for poster. We have many ways to re-distribute if you do not want. Many will be in route back home on reveal day.

Amy Lynn said...

Wouldn't it be interesting if the scavenger hunt had to do with all 16 drops?

Drama said...

basically, I'd expect a hint as of when DCAAPB get's updated on the 16th. With that said, the world and his wife will now be there, so expect site outages, and for gomerch to fall over every ten seconds. FUN.

Patmc said...

@Amy Lynn - I wondered about the "scavenger hunt" comment as well. It's not completely without precedence... Fringe (another JJ Abrams show) had a scavenger hunt at Comic Con, to lead you to a private screening of the premiere episode of Fringe, a full 2 months before it was shown on TV. It was fun, running around downtown San Diego, but I'm not so sure about the middle of suburban L.A. Can you IMAGINE if they did the same for an early premiere of Season 6?! I think I would soil myself. But the odds of "spoiler free" Darlton letting that happen are slim to none... and slim just left.

Regardless, if there is any sort of scavenger hunt... I can't think of a better group of people to do it with...! :-)

MeSoCrazy said...

A scavenger hunt where we go door to door asking if they have Walt?

This could be fun.

And you are right andalone, about having it 'underwraps' this long.

Zort70 said...

For me it will be the 16th when the gallery opens for the show !

Patmc said...

By the way... I just found the link to the Doc Jensen "hub". It has links to all of his Season 5 stuff, and there is a link to a video of their panel from Comic Con, with Michael Emerson, and Darlton. It was fun watching it again... it reminded me of how much fun that day at Comic Con was.

http://www.ew.com/ew/package/0,,20313460,00.html

maven said...

I don't know about running around LA at night knocking at doors and asking for bizarre things for a scavenger hunt....first off: no one will open their doors! LOL

Amy Lynn said...

Nobody has said the scavenger hunt will be in LA, or related to the gallery reveal at all.

John-Paul said...

Hey everyone, sorry I've been MIA for awhile. Its been hectic at work. Sorry if I should know, but what is the deal with people being able to get the lostarg poster?

Unknown said...

Ugh - the 16th is my last day in the office. Hope it's a good drop time...

Unknown said...

(this is dusty by the way - finally signed up for Gmail...)

MeSoCrazy said...

I was just teasing. But if they did do an old school scavenger hunt like that I would feel even more the necessity of getting myself to LA. Carrying around a bag knocking on doors asking for random LOST related items. Giggling like I was 12. Which I am.

I'm fairly certain the scavengar hunt will be in Utah. They've been waiting to do something big here and this will be just the thing. The weather is a nice cool 10 degrees. I will knock on doors for you all. Gosh I'll do it regardless. Cause I'm crazy.

Patmc said...

Oh... and if anyone watches the Comic Con video, they talk about some of the info revealed at the official Lost panel. If you are trying to avoid ALL info about season 6, consider yourself spoiler-warned... :-)

andalone said...

Scavenger hunts are a hoot! But I had lots of 'splaining to do to a couple of very understanding police officers last time...ugly business with a garden gnome...

ChrisL said...

lol@MeSoCrazy (again).

MeSoCrazy said...

Okay andalone next time you need to forewarn as I was drinking water when I read that. And it just sprayed my computer. Yeah I hope garden gnomes are not involved.

thorsten said...

I di not even know that Gardengnomes can exist outside the german borders…

MeSoCrazy said...

@ChrisL thanks. I have nothing of value to offer the Arg, so it's nice when I can at least make someone laugh.

Tess315 said...

My sister and daughter went on a scavenger hunt a couple of weeks ago. My daughter's 12 she loved it and wants to do it again next year.

ChrisL said...

MeSoCrazy, You do so regularly! And that has the greatest value of all!

Amy Lynn said...

I have a feeling the scavenger hunt is gonna be at the Linder Gallery.

andalone said...
This comment has been removed by the author.
maven said...

Maybe it will be an on-line scavenger hunt so all can participate (if they want the S6 tease)?

lostsailors said...

WAIT, am I reading that right, so there's the event the the next day things go for sale on the TBD website? EEEEEEEE!

Justin said...

@MeSoCrazy - you add plenty! you make me laugh everyday and are my favorite poster! (...wait, referring to you as a poster sounds weird when we're dealing with physical print posters...and i'm assuming you're not a print poster. Although if you were, I'd totally "Buy Now" and have my own comical typing poster. Maybe take you on a touring exhibition across the country, cuz that'd be pretty amazing to see. so i guess i'll say your my favorite blog commenter? yeah, let's go with that.)

Capcom said...

So the final poster will be kinda spoilery then? :-o

Amy Lynn said...

Well, here’s the deal. I’m assuming that if the poster is even the tiniest bit spoilery it will NOT end up being something that’s a HUGE reveal in the season, but rather, something we learn in the first five minutes of the season premiere. 815 landing at LAX would be the best example I think.

ChrisL said...

Capcom, hmm, that's bothering me a little too. I can't imagine that it would be though.

Amy Lynn said...

I suppose, too, that it could be a spoiler with a new character, or something that we would have no idea what it meant until it was revealed on the episode, but I think that’s less good. I’m less likely to buy a poster if I have no idea who the people are.

maven said...

TPTB has been super secretive so far...not letting ABC use any S6 footage in promos. I doubt a poster will have a specific scene from S6...most likely something we've seen already that will have us speculating on what it means for S6.

Amy Lynn said...

Maybe it will be BEN AND DESMOND KISSING.

Justin said...

@Amy Lynn, I'm thinking along the same lines that it will be something that we don't understand yet until we see the season.

Justin said...

Does anyone want to know about parking for the event ?

I might have some special news.

Amy Lynn said...

*wants to know*

maven said...

OMG, Zort! I've been having nightmares about parking! Tell me! Tell me!

ChrisL said...

Zort - I want to know and I'm not even going!

Justin said...

Zort, I have a friend that lives a few min down the street, right off of melrose. Her neighborhood has non-limited parking with no permits or anything required. I'm guessing that some of the residential areas around the gallery might be the same.

Zort70 said...

Well to end the suspense -

Our good friend TheKharmaInitiative has contacted his Nephew (David) who happens to have a Christmas tree lot a few doors away from Gallery 1988,

Part of it can be turned into a parking lot for the day and he is willing to offer us the space all day for a low rate (somewhere between $5 - $10 per car for the whole day).

There is space for around 75 cars if it is needed.

The lot is at 7000 Melrose Ave in LA, Sycamore is the nearest cross street. He said the lot is next door to Golden Apple Comics. Enter the tree lot from Melrose Ave.

So a huge thankyou to TheKharmaInitiative and David for this fantastic offer.

Also TKI's wife is planning to fly down, hopefully you will all welcome her and look after her for the day.

Zort70 said...

Just turn up and mention LostARGs

ChrisL said...

Way to go TheKharmaInitiative and David!!! That's going to be such a relief to so many people. How brilliant.

maven said...

OMG that is so fabulous! Kudos to TKI and his nephew! That is so awesome and such a deal! I'm definitely going to be there by 10:30 and feel comfortable leaving my car there all day!

And don't worry about TKI's wife...she's in good hands!

Zort70 said...

I know Chris, it has not ceased to amaze me how fantastic people can be when we want to.

ChrisL said...

Zort, I'll be honest, I'd spent a few recent years believing that was not the case. Then I found this lot and have had my faith renewed. It feels good.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

Ok, finally made it here. Dropped of Joey and now have my full attention here. Well, till my other sons birthday tonight. He will be 23 wow, I feel old ! Still wish I could go to LA, did Martyn win that lottery yet ? Someone win the lottery please !!! lol

thorsten said...

Wow. Thanks TKI.
And for your help with the Hatch!

ChrisL said...

Hey Lisa... I bought extra tickets for tomorrow's draw too ;-)

Lisa-Maladylis said...

lolol @ Chris. I should do that too. We never buy the lottery tickets, then we say we should and forget again lolol I'm such a gambler ;-)

The Kharma Initiative said...

Very glad I could help somehow, and thank you Zort!

BTW, David tells me he will open the lot at 10AM on Tuesday.

Wish I was going, but my wife will be much better at joining in the fun!

I looked at the lot at 7000 Melrose and it is so close to the Gallery...so perfect! LOST fans really know how to help each other out! :)

thorsten said...

This whole thing feels like all of us getting back to the Island. The first 15 reveals were just for forming the group ;))

maven said...

@TKI: Tell Nephew David that Maven will be there at 10:30AM in a gold Lincoln MKX SUV!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Now I can keep the poster safe in my car until it gets closer to opening time!

Justin said...

Wow @TKI and the things we're capable of as a group!! Amazing.

Patmc said...

OMG! What a relief to not have to worry about parking now! And the really good news is that if I bring a beach chair to sit in, it's only a few steps to dump it back in the car before going inside the Gallery!

Thanks you @Zort for the news, and a MAJOR thank you @TheKharmaInitiative and his nephew David!!!

TYSON: You like it? I did it myself. It takes a very long time when you’re screenprinting, but, uh... I suppose that's the point, isn't it?
PATMC: Hello, Tyson. .
TYSON: Well, you found your poster.
PATMC: Indeed I did. And you have no idea what I've gone through to be here.
MAVEN: Have you met before?
PATMC: In a manner of speaking. [Whispers] Do what I asked you to, Maven.
TYSON: Maven... whatever he's told you, I want you to understand one thing. You have a choice.
MAVEN: What "choice"?
TYSON: You can do what he asked, or you can go, leave us to discuss our... 404 issues.
MAVEN: Oh... so now, after all this time, you've decided to stop ignoring us. Four months I lived on this website, and all I ever heard was your name over and over. Zort would bring me your instructions--all those vague jpegs, all those clues --and I never questioned anything. I did as I was told. But when I dared to ask to see you myself, I was told, "You have to wait. You have to be patient." But when he asked to see you? He gets marched straight up here as if he was Damon Lindelof. So... why him? Hmm? What was it that was so wrong with me? What about me?!
TYSON: What about you?
MAVEN: [Whispers] Oh. [Normal voice] Well...
[grunts]
[pants]
TYSON: [Gagging] Ping pong
PATMC: What?
[Tyson gags.]
PATMC: I can't hear you.
TYSON: Ping pong.

thorsten said...

I'm an ordinary man, Zort, meat and potatoes, I live in the real world. I'm not a big believer in blogs. But this place is different. It's special. The others don't want to talk about it because it scares them. But we all know it. We all feel it. Is your white rabbit a hallucination? Probably. But what if everything that happened here, happened for a reason?

@Amy Lynn - I'm flock??? LMAO!

The Kharma Initiative, thanks to you and your nephew! I will need spot as will Scoutpost sometime after 1 p.m. We have 3-4 on the Wave that will arrive after 5 p.m. looking parking. Do we need to reserve? Wow. Hugh "parking headache" solved. Is your nephew a LOST fan?

Unknown said...

It would be interesting to dig up the old discussions on the 16th print speculation...

People were really against the idea of a S6 scene at that point...I think someone argued with my speculation of the LAX landing scene... I just always assumed that will be how the season opens. The bomb went off (as far as I can tell) and they will resume right there with whatever result it causes...and since 815 was the focal point, it seemed logical to me (channeling my spock).

Sticking with 815 @ LAX for #16...though I'd probably prefer something more mythology related about the island itself (temple?)...since they said 2 hints maybe it will be 815 @ LAX and also show Charlie (alive, obviously)... 2 hints to the change thats coming...

Do I get a poster if I'm right? :D

Amy Lynn said...

If 815 lands at LAX, does Desmond go back in the Hatch? Because that sucks.

DvdBos said...

I asked for a poster buddy on Nov 29th here (on spoiler tv):

It just did not sound fair. :(

Unknown said...

Who knows... seems likely... the island and Desmond are brothers.

Just Thinking said...

Laughing, Amy-just perfect.

Thanks Kharma and nephew- I have been debating about asking my sister nearby about going- she's not a big Lost fan. But if there was parking...

RamHatter said...

While I'm disappointed I'm going to be missing out on the festivities at Gallery 1988, I'm grateful that many of you are going to be documenting the action. Thanks! For those of us not in the LA area, or able to fly in for the event, it's greatly appreciated. I'll feel a bit closer to the reveal because of everyone's tweets and ustreams.

MeSoCrazy said...

andalone thank you for being with me at this time.

I kinda think we might see a poster (and I've always been wrong seeing as how I never got my 'Jack's beard' We have to go back poster) with the beginning. I don't know what I mean though now that I just put that out there seeing as how all the posters came from season 1-3.

This is why I don't try and think. It doesn't work for me.

thorsten said...

Amy, if Jughead influenced the outcome of the incident and 815 lands in LAX, no one is down there pushing buttons…

Amy Lynn said...

@thorsten... that's if you're going by the theory that the incident prevent the incident, and wasn't actually the incident

andalone said...

...which means Desmond never ran nakie through the jungle :(

Unknown said...

I hope we have more Des this season. Goodnight all

thorsten said...

Isn't the whole idea that Jughead goes boom, the pocket of exotic energy is neutralized, there is no need for a release every 108 minutes, and so Radzinski and Inman would never have to wait for HIM? Hence no need for pressing Des into service and maybe Widmore is much nicer this time around and says, "Hey, Hume, you did not finish higher ed, so what, just go and make my daughter happy, and here, take two bottles of McCutcheon" and then Des goes to Hawking and buys the ring and the guy with the red shoes survives and everything is peachy?

lostsailors said...

OmG! The Kharma Initiative! Parking! You have no idea how much I have been fearing this!

So if I drove up over there, would I just say I was parking for the gallery- or will I just be able to guesswork it out when I get there.

Do you think rolling up around lunch would be good for a spot? It just sounds like it's going to be a zoo!

ChrisL said...

Widmore would still be bitter and resentful. He'd always find a reason to dis someone as cool as Desmond.

maven said...

JensenClan1988 just twitted: "Check out the new Entertainment Weekly for an article about our LOST project and art show! It opens Tuesday night. You really should be here"

thorsten said...

Hah, Chris, I am watching Something Something Something Darkside right now, made me think of Stewie and Brian as Des and Locke in the Hatch smashing the comp and then ending in one of these strange Macfarlane joke loops that get annoying and then funny again before they are over…

comixguru said...

@Amy Lynn - i love all your re-imagined LOST conversations and your song lyrics.

@MeSoCrazy- me too. a huge group hug to you all!!! :)

ChrisL said...

oof, don't mention the smashing up of that cute Apple II... You know that hurts!

thorsten said...

Come on Chris, I said comp. I really tried to protect your feelings and said just comp. Why don't we pretend it was a LISA, hmm?

The Kharma Initiative said...

Wow, really thrilled to see the parking thing is so appreciated! Hope it's one less thing to stress over on the day.

LT, I'll ask my wife to email you directly about late arriver parking arrangements.

My nephew David is not a huge Lost fan, but among other things like Christmas tree lot owner he is also a film producer, so he is a big fan of all things Hollywood! And he's a great nephew! I'll let him know about all the appreciation here.

@lostsailors, as Zort said, all you have to do is turn up at the lot at 7000 Melrose Ave. Someone will direct you to your spot. Can't say when it will fill up of course, but 75 spaces sounds like a lot to me.

Have fun!

@MeSoCrazy - I am standing on a chair shrieking on your behalf. I am with you in spirit and terror.

thorsten said...

Family Guy did a great job with Empire, and it reminded me of how great that movie is. They even mention a 42 at the end!

Unknown said...

You guys constantly crack me up, what with rewritten scenes and all.

Since LT has mentioned it and I'm confirmed now, I will also be attending G1988. Smaug (the DSLR) is coming along, so I will do my best to do better comprehensive photo coverage than I did for 44th Ward.

KarmaInitiative: that's super awesome, what your nephew is doing. We will take good care of your wife. (Does that sound creepy? lol) Nephew should come to the party wearing a "btw, I'm a producer" shirt; make some connections!

I guess I will have to leave the Dharma jumpsuit at home, it's Motor Pool but has a Hydra patch. *fail* Don't suppose anyone has one lying around? Maybe if I make them a polar bear, the writers/fans won't stone me for being inaccurate. (But who would I give it to?)

thorsten said...

Hey Anne, thats awesome! Maybe you should set Smaug to a time like 1/30th and use the Flash to fill up the foreground, so that you get atmo plus action…

Zort70 said...

Night Zort!

Scoutpost said...

Wow ya'll have me laughing so hard!

OMG what an answer to parking! yea! I will be there around 3pm-ish, so if possible and TKI reads this, please save me a spot!

This is an awesome group. And LA is going to be so much fun...I like the scavenger hunt idea, no matter what it turns out to be!

Unknown said...

Thorsten: I have to do some DIY mods to him before the event I think, the focus guide light is BLINDING and the flash a bit intense. Wish I had a proper speedlight but what can you do. Will do my best to be thorough AND artsy, proper equipment or no :)

lostsailors said...

The Kharma Initiative- Seriously, you have no idea what a difference parking makes for me!

Is it the lot next to the comic store?

<-- I can't believe it.

I am very excited for this event!

Martyn said...

Ah, lisa, yes.

Well,'i've been watching over and over Derren Brown to learn how he predicted the lottery and i think I'm on to something. But to be on the safe side, I do have 16 people crunching numbers in the back to find the mean numbers to play.

Saying that, is Derren Brown even known across the pond?cus if not, that joke is just wasted. I bought 3 tickets for euromillions and 3 for tomorrow night.

The Kharma Initiative said...

lostsailors, yes, David says his is the lot right next to Golden Apple Comics, which recently has also used his lot for overflow parking.

Martyn, no idea who Derren Brown is but he sounds like he may be a relation!

Hi All- i am trying to print up 8x11 prints of Thorsten's masterpiece to bring to the Gallery with me on Tuesday. Hope to hand them out to y'all in line with me. Along with the nametags i'm currently cutting out :)

CAN'T WAIT!!!!

RobPerrin said...

@comixguru Excellent. LOST ARGs is going to be all over this event!

Justin said...

Man, you guys are making it hard to wait for the event!! Stop talking about how much fun it's gonna be! Let's just talk about how horrible and boring the wait is gonna be and that the art will probably suck, the creators will probably poke their head in and leave, the whole things totally not gonna be worth it. That'll make it easier for me to wait :)

RobPerrin said...

@Justin - uh, I heard Lindelof's got pretty bad BO....

YAY Nametags!!! Thanks Comixguru!! :)

Anne,
I can bring my SB-600 if it fits Smaug. I didn't plan on bringing mine to the event itself because I have other things to lug around.

AmyLynn - rofl!! Brilliant parody! Bravo!

Jesse t - the cool thing about Derren Brown is he doesn't pretend that it isn't a trick. He tells us that everything he does is a trick and occasionally shows us how it's done. That's why he is so much better than the Blaine's out there that pretend to have mystical powers ;)

@Comixguru: Name tages and our own copy of the LostArg poster! Awesome job.

I think we have to discuss how we're going to handle the presentation of the LostArgs poster. Are we making a presentation to Darlton? What are some thoughts about this?

Just Thinking said...

Maven- maybe someone should try to find out from Gallery 88 when the writers are most likely to be there, as Args has a gift for them. Who knows- they might tell you.

Since there will many attending this event thus a line or crowd outside this esteemed gallery (christmas tree lot just a few buildings away, very nice, and..that was a little bell thingy on their door that Paul entered thru..) so I propose the following for the sake of those standing,,sitting,,holding places in line or, for just chance meeting of fellow Lost Fan in the general L.A. basin..:

A) WAAAAAALLLLLLLT!!!!! be the formal greeting and salutation between and amongst Lost Fans. We shall know each other by WAAAALLLTTT! and we shall kno those who walk amongst us but are not one of US by the absence of the WAAAAALLLLLT!!. A return greeting of " We GOTTA GO BAAAAACK! " or any other recognizable quote from the show will strengthen the LOST bonds and connectivity amongst US further. So..like I see LT at the airport.. I exclaim,,"" WAAAAALLLTTT!" and she exclaims .." AM I CRAZY!!" or.." ARE YOU HIM?"..or " DUUUDE!".. or " What ABOUT MY BAAAAABY? " or..well you getthe idea..then any other LOST FANS in the vicinity,,will know,, and join in like wise and before you kno it..It will be extremely HIP to greet each other accordingly..because it all started in California !!

2)..Along the same lines..to help pass the drudgery of standing in line..if you happen to pass by the 1988 address before 7 pm in your car or truck or SUV...roll the winders down,,and let out a " WAAAAALLLT! as you pass by.. Adding the dopler effect to the WAAAALLTT will just give that extra special depth to the experience.

&)..Now.. for those in line or..in crowd..I propose we pass the Time with little skits..yea.. we can take turns with this..like..re-enactments or vignettes..little street theater presentations of GREAT MOMENTS OF LOST!!...Someone mentioned above the dez nekked in the jungle scene..okay not nekked,, but in a huge tie die T shirt..could be good for a few minutes of awe..I'm thinkin of bringin a rubber Bald cap so I could do a Locke melt down..or..maybe a ..well you getthe idea..be creative..just remember, less is more!

Before i forget..we need somebody to stake out the backdoor...if there is one.Just becuz!

Okay, thats for starters, Seems to me there are a lot of creative types on board..so if you think of something to make this event the FUN that Cuse wants it to be,, lets hear it !!

Capcom said...

Gosh, that's really just so great about the parking arangement made, how nice! Now y'all have to buy a Christmas tree from him too when the time comes, heheh. :-D Gee, I always wanted to work on a Christmas tree farm.

I could get into a poster that's a Richard backstory collage for the 16th poster, that would be neat. But geez, so many WCMs have been left behind in the dust. Too many to cover in just 15 visuals, that's for sure.

Speaking of Des nekkid in the jungle, I know a bunch of guys who are hoping that Juliet will be nekkid too, after setting off Jughead in the energy pocket. :o)

*imagines a line of people screaming WAAAAAALT at Damon and Carlton as they walk in*

mungonna said...

amy..i have,,and its beautiful!

mungonna said...

maybe..just maybe..we could all wear some combination of...Black and White! How easy would that be!!

Just Thinking said...

You know-if there are copies of the poster, it would be nice to give one to G88,Paul, and the coordinator of the poster hunt that Comixguru spoke to the other day- have to go back and find her name. She might be there too. Maybe with a signed thank you from Lost Args on the back. Then we could try to get the main poster to Damon and Carlton- also would be nice if it had a card of explanation-perhaps with a verse- hint hint.

Just Thinking said...

Ahh- it was Noreen who Comixguru spoke to.

@RevMilo: can't find out if it's compatible, but it SHOULD be. If the space is small, the built-in should be fine; don't worry about hauling it. But thanks!

Those bummed about not being there: don't worry, I'm sure the weather in LA will be AWFUL. ;) (Man am I glad this reveal isn't Chicago, we got lucky that weekend!)

Presentation: I think it'd be worth asking one of the gallery staff if they can help us out, let us know when would be a good time. Also, was wondering if we should put a little note on the back side? In case presenter doesn't have time to explain. Could also include names of people who didn't send in photos?

I feel bad I'm on the poster and will actually be there XD; But I didn't know at the time!

Justin: Wait now I'm even more confused! XD Sounds like I was going in the wrong direction.

MJCarp said...

Just Thinking, I'll have names and silhouettes graphic ready for maven to attach? give? with presentation.

Maven, is there a way attach the names to the back of poster?

MEL, "Dude"

maven said...

LT: I guess a piece of paper can be attached on the back...there's no backing, just the stretched canvas itself.

mungonna said...

Maven..Some things to consider...who ever has poster will have to adapt quickly. If D&C enter together at front door..I suggest stop them there..if its before doors open. If they enter backdoor.. oh well. Then its an inside job and needs to get done first or last,, depending on urgency to bag, buy, borrow, what ever is being offered. I am hoping Paul or staff has a talk with US before doors open. Both sides of the door need to know how this going to go. At that time ..it is important for anybody to let Paul or Staff know about the ARg poster..which I believe ,, by now,, they already know of. So..just talking here, may serve your purpose.

btw,, i have 3 Vignettes already conceived that require little if any props...so..everybody open your imagination to GREAT LOST MOMENTS,,so this turns into a Performance Art event of its OWN! We Can DO This!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLTTTTTTTT!!!

Posted to wave as well but in terms of getting poster to right people - we can ask whomever is dealing with the purchases. Should be a gallery manager or something, and we can alert them (if we are let in before anyone shows).

If anyone going to G1988 doesn't have LOST attire to wear (or are getting it signed instead) and would like to - if you get enough people, some blank shirts, and some iron-ons - instant costume of "the numbers" ;) Just stand in the right order, and we MAY have to push you every 108 minutes . . . just so you know.

maven said...

A few of us will be in line for a while...when the Gallery is open during the day....I'm sure we can go in and find someone to tell them about our poster & work something out.

So here's a fun little tale:

I decided to go over to g1988 today (and only now realized it's literally next door to Golden Apple Comics, where Damon has done some signings) because I'd never been to the gallery and thought it might be nice to go take a look at it.

First, it's -really- small. Smaller than most of the galleries on Melrose, smaller than I expected.

Second--it was closed.

Why? Because the Lost posters were already in the shop.

Or at least I -think- they were. All of the paintings/posters were turned so they faced the walls (which were otherwise bare) except for ONE painting.

I will not reveal what was on it, but I can assure you it was:

a) Lost Related
b) NOT one of the posters/paintings we have seen before in the project.

It was raining in LA today, so I had an umbrella and walked by the shop once, looking inside. Then I realized what I was looking AT and stared. At least I felt like I was staring (although it couldn't have been more than 15-20 seconds.) It didn't help that I had one of the Team Unseen Presence members with me (shout out to Team UP!) and she was staring, too.

Then I walked over to the Golden Apple front to explain what I thought the painting was referencing specifically and decided to go back and re-look. I walked back the 3-4 feet to the gallery window...

... and they'd turned that painting around as well. So I guess THEY must have thought I was staring, too. :)

Again, to keep the suspense and thrill for people, I won't say what I saw. But it was very, very interesting.

No sign of statues of any kind, but the gallery was literally EMPTY except for the paintings/posters/whatever against the walls. And IF those are -all- for the show (and not both for the show and what was there before), it's a LOT of paintings. More than I would have expected, even if it was only one wall.

So there's the update from ground zero today. As a note, I may not get time to get involved in the Wave for anything, but I'll be there early and will not have to be moving a car in any fashion, so that will help at least somewhat.

UP

Of course, I posted my previous message before reading through things and TKI's nephew is correct.

The street goes like this:
g1988 -> Golden Apple -> parking lot

It's amusing to me, because I even looked at that lot today and thought, man, if only it wasn't a Christmas tree lot, cause it has lots of parking.

Two questions for folk:

1) Who's getting there when?
2) What's the criteria to get a name-tag?

Unknown said...

Also, TKI:

For those who will need parking, what time will your nephew be opening the lot? That would be good to know.

BTW, David tells me he will open the lot at 10AM on Tuesday.

Hey zort, I love the fire place, looks so cozy and warm ! I do have to ask though, how does it open up to get the wood in ? And you must have to use smaller logs so they don't fall against the glass and break it. Is that your wood in a bag next to the fire place ? Ours we haul out of the woods here, after using the chain saw to cut the trees down, cut up, then ax to cut in half and quarters. I'd like a pellet stove. lol lift bag and pour lolol
