@alteridom...

I think that's a cool idea. I will take a picture of my "LOST" wall once I get The Hatch back from the framers.

I recently printed Locke's Secret on to canvas so it will look very nice and then Jacob's Cabin should be due this week.

I just need one more portrait poster to fill the gap!

ChrisL said...

Chris has become ChrisL to avoid any Chris confusion!

@alteridiom - the only print I've framed so far is the Dharma Van
It's here
I think I'll go with something similar for Rousseau's Transmission when I finally get one. I'm going with a plain Black for The Swan Station but with a double mount, wide red to match the print red then a thin white. I'll post links when they're done for anyone interested.

feel_the_insanity said...

Anyone know if they will be replaying the first two episodes of The Prisoner before tomorrow's two new episodes? And...just realized V is on Tuesday during The Prisoner...ugh.

feel_the_insanity said...

I'll have my Smoke Monster picture up in one week. It looks great, just need to go home and take some pics.

Sandman90 said...

FTI it looks like AMC is playing the first 2 hours twice tomorrow night. They always replay their original films multiple times - too much time, trouble, and money not to do it I suspect.

feel_the_insanity said...

Thanks Sandman, guess I can catch up.

Sandman90 said...

I'm mistaken - I meant tonight - sorry!

Ellen B said...

Thank God for the DVR! Hello everyone!

feel_the_insanity said...

No, you're right Sandman. They're playing tonight's episode tomorrow at 6 and 7. Then the new ones at 8 and 9. Looks like 4 hours of The Prisoner for me tomorrow!

feel_the_insanity said...

In case anyone would like something to do on this off-day, here's a poll Dark has on his website. Choose the top 23 episodes of LOST. Shocked that some of my picks are getting no love. Some of my favs (other than the big ones) are The Cost of Living, ...In Translation, One of Us and The Economist.

Does anyone know when the new Prisoner will be on in the UK ?

I haven't managed to find out yet, I'm sure it will be on Sky 1 but I have no ideqa of the date.

Zort70 said...

I have no idea how to spell either !

Plus it's a new Doctor Who tonight, in a few minutes actually.

Bye for an hour or so.

maven said...

I know that AMC replays their dramas multiple times (and right after a new one airs)...so I'm sure everyone will be able to see all 6 hrs. between all our other obsessions!

feel_the_insanity said...

Apparently I'm dominating the forum today, but does anyone have any info on the Season 5 Dharma Initiative Kit DVDs? As in, what type of extras will it have and is it worth 90 bucks?

mungonna said...

Indeed,,some Time Traveling!! Prisoner and Dr Who..I suppose that is why LOST is so Great..It so much more " Now" than either of them.

Martyn said...

Cheers Zort, almost missed it! Was a good episode, weird though. Oh well, roll on December 25th!

mrtibbs said...

Come on Tyson, time for a new clue.
I'm ready now I've watched Doctor Who!

Ginger said...

@ Brad - yes, a contest could be what is found behind that red question mark. The winners getting complete sets of the posters maybe? Since it seems that they are holding on to some of the posters I think that could be a great incentive to all our artists.

@ Capcom - you could totally win! Very nice stuff. Loved "The Elizabeth" I totally thought you had painted that after seeing LOST. To read your comment that you painted it a long time ago made it that much more amazing. It was FATE!

Martyn said...

Did anyone else who watched Doctor Who get weirded out by his evilness at the end?

mrtibbs said...

Yeah, I thought cool, The Docs gone postal, but the woman at the end put a stop to all that. Roll on xmas special, the master coming back looks ace!

Ginger said...

Hey Martyn - Didn't see Dr.Who, but I did see your comments earlier worrying about Hatch drymount job. I thought since your mom said the framer said it was removable, maybe they are using framer's tape. I'm not a framer, but I saw someone comment about it before. Just Googled it & it says it is removable with little heat & leaves art in original condition. So maybe there's still hope:)

RobPerrin said...

alteridiom, not sure if you'll find inspiration, but you can see my framed prints at robperrin.blogspot.com. I used very basic poster frames for Crash and Smokey. I'm going with a more elaborate frame with mat for Rousseau, but it won't be ready for another week or so.

Capcom said...

Happy new week of clues everyone! Instant catchup post:

Again, thanks for all of the nice comments friends. xo! Chris, I'm happy that someone knows who Souixsie is, heheh.

Lisa, I love rose-mauling, and yours looks great! I've been wanting to try that, but I've never had much luck with one-stroke painting techniques, that's hard to do.

Yes Jesse, and everyone, post your artowrk! :-D

2012's a stinker? Oh well. Someone said last night (maybe Ian on CoastToCoast a.m.) said how the world is falling apart, and electrical storms are happening, but miraculously everyone's cell phones still work! X-D I may see it anyway for the fun.

Oh crud, I was afraid that The Prisoner would conflict with something else good. Well, AMC usually repeats their big original shows like Madmen many times a week, so they might do that with this one also.

Lost is like all SciFi/mystery/psychodrama TV shows wrapped into one -- except no aliens yet. :o)

Martyn said...

@Ginger...

Wow, thank you so much, feel a hell of a lot calmer now. Going to give them a call tomorrow morning when they open up just to double check but you've made me feel a whole lot better about it. Can't belive I didn't google dry mount removeable, would of saved me so much time.

@MrTibbs...

I was confused, I started convincing myself that he was the master or something because he went so bad ass. Can't believe no-one thanked him either, bit of a blow really.

Forget presents this xmas, I just want to have xmas dinner and then sit down to watch the next doctor who, because isn't that what christmas is all about?

Capcom said...

Interesting Rob, I think your right, Rousseau's print is minimal enough to carry a more elaborate frame very well. Heheh, I can really see it in some kind of Tiki motif. :-)

Zort70 said...

Doctor Who was good, nice ending to set up the final couple of episodes.

Capcom said...

I can't wait for the new Doctor season to begin in the US. :-)

Sandman90 said...

Loved Doctor Who as a kid - coming home after school and watching 1/2 hour installments from our local PBS station. Started with the transition from Pertwee to Tom Baker (THE Doctor IMHO). This was my first foray into cliffhanger television as they were usually part of what was actually a 2-3 hour episode. Parents were hooked too. Knew it when Mom let me plaster an "I brake for Daleks" bumper sticker on her car. Ah, time travel.

Martyn said...

lol, I Brake For Daleks, cool!

Man, Sundays go so slow without a clue. C'mon Tyson!

And make the reveal in England this time.

Amy Lynn said...

Awesome discussion, you guys!

While I'm very anxious to get the next clue, with the game seriously winding down to the last two (or maybe three) prints, I'd be good to wait a few days, too.

maven said...

I need the next reveal to be on a Thursday again! Otherwise, I'm on a 3 day cruise (next Fri-Mon)! Hope my iPhone works in Mexican waters...lol. If not, I'll have to pay for the internet!

Capcom, with the Norwegian in my family, Rose-mauling is something I learned after my mom showed me hers that she did. Everyone in my family is a artist except my father. Even my son that is 10 is getting very good at his art. My son that was killed 3 years ago was going to use his art to get into tattoo artistry. I'm sorry he never made that dream come true. I'm hoping that my youngest will use his art in his life and not let it slide like I have. We all play instruments as well so I bought my son a flute the minute he said he wanted to play it in school lol I'm hoping he sticks with it. I played clarinet, french horn, timpani's, vibra harp and accordion lol I'm told music and art run together as well.

Capcom said...

I'm so sorry about your son, Lisa. Yes, it's very true about Norwegians, Scands, northern Europeans, etc. they are very talanted and productive as a rule, and the friends I have had who come from there have been very inspirational in my life as artistic role models. :-)

Hope that you can iphone, Maven!

Ellen B said...

Hello again. Hubby is setting up the Prisoner to DVR and grumbling about having to look up all the available times in the TV guide. And there are all kinds of conflicts - House and Lie to Me are on tomorrow night. Egads!

alteridiom said...

@ChrisL

That looks really nice man. That is the kind of vibe I am going for. Where did you get that at? I was checking out americanframe.com Seems like a good place to get decent frames at a good price. Not familiar with them though. Anyone used them before?

alteridiom said...

@Martyn

How did you print Locke's Secret to canvas? Would be very interested in doing this. Would love to hear and see more.

Martyn said...

Sorry for your loss Lisa.

Right, can't hang around waiting for clues any longer, i'm off to bed. May watch the end of heroes season 3. I know, I know but I feel i've put so much time in to heroes, I have to see how it ends.

Martyn said...

@alteridiom...

I used something called Photofuse, can buy a starter pack which includes a canvas, paper and brush but too confusing to explain so here's the link: http://www.photofuse.co.uk/

And here is the picture I have on my wall. Would of taken the whole wall but as I said, The Hatch is down the shops so wall looks a lil bare with just Dharma Van on it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/44295199@N04/4107426384/

Goodnight Everybody!

Night Zort.

Clue time. :)

...also would anyone be interested in giving a podcast another shot? Maybe not tonight, but later this week?

alteridiom said...

@Martyn

Looks good. May give that a try if the artist doesn't release more of these at a later date. Heard this might happen? What is that poster in the low left corner? I noticed it said Nashville. Are you nearby? I'm in Murfreesboro.

That brings back memories! My sister hiding behind the sofa, watching Dr Who from there, and me almost peeing myself re the Daleks! Who said childhood is fun! lol. I remember one story where these big spiders jumped on peoples backs then 'dissapeared' inside of them... still creeps me out even now. Saw Pertwee once at an antiques motorbike show - 1980.

Im waiting for Fringe S2, Lie2Me, and House. Hopefully TVNZ will pick up FF and Prisoner. Wont be till next year tho.

Hey all. I have a few extra Google Wave invites left (4 to be exact). A few of us have already started waving just to test things out, but the more the merrier. Plus for each wave invite given out, that person can give out 8 of their own, so we could start spreading some around the Lost ARG community. Email me if your interested.

reanimatorx2(at)gmail

mtutick said...

Returning to the topic, I find the responses from this poll very interesting.

Jacob's Cabin is easily in the bottom 4 of the prints for me. It just doesn't strike me as LOST when I first look at it. I'm glad other people find enjoyment in it though :)

Just Thinking said...

Well, I went laa, laa, laaa past the Dr. Who discussion as we are don't have the latest episodes in the US yet- not sure if you are even talking about the last 4 specials with David Tennant or the new Dr after him- never mind- don't tell me.

Maybe we should put the Prisoner responses somewhere so as not to spoil for the UK folk.

I also am still looking for info on the DI S5 kit. Never saw a final description of it anywhere- pretty sure the bluray DI set must have LU on it, but wanted to be certain.

Just wanted to say it makes me a little uneasy when we talk about making full blown copies of the posters and displaying them online. I believe they are copyrighted? And anyway, it has to be maddening for the artists.

Here's info one (non poster) artist put up on it-link

Congested said...

Just a warning reAnimated... I got one wave account a month or so ago that came with 20 invites. I then used it to invite my Lost account... but the Lost account has yet to get the option to invite. So it seems like 1st tier applicants (who applied directly on Google's site) get them.

They also don't give out the option to invite until they need more people. It seems to happen in waves.. no pun intended.

But yeah, I've got several people in line already once I get more invites.. but after that I'd be happy to add as many as I can. There's already a Lost Discussion wave.. though it contains spoilers so I've been avoiding it.

Capcom said...

Me too about Dr.Who JT! :-)

Yes, we should keep the spoilers down about The Prisoner, I guess. I really liked the first ep tonight. It has a great feel so far. Can't the UKers watch it online even?

Interesting art rules on that link....soooo, I can't make a cross-stitch of the Foot? Shucks, it would be so easy! LOL

Unknown said...

Heres my lost fan art. There both not finished yet. I've been working on the not penny's boat poster for a while but the locke one I just started yesterday so that ones more rough. lol click here

reAnimated said...

@Congested - Ah. Good to know. Yeah I had tried to get one from them for awhile now. Is there a difference in the invited that you've seen?

PS. Its been a trip watching you create the new Lost Viral wave. ;)

reAnimated said...

*other than the option to invite other I guess.

Congested said...

I'm not sure. Basically the one I got was for 20 invites, and then it took some time for the people I invited to get invites, and they did not get the option to invite.

... hope that made sense. :)

Congested said...

...for anyone desperate I've seen that you can buy Google Wave invites on ebay. Talk about milking an opportunity....

Just Thinking said...

Hey Jesse- I think you really show John's desperation well there.

Cheif Brody said...

Hey, Gang. Sorry I been away for a while. Computer issues and what not. Plus, now that these things are selling out in less than 10 seconds (thanks, scalpers!), I have given up hope of ever buying one of these things. At this point, it's about as likely as winning the lottery.

I will say that I am still holding out hope for ONE photo-realistic depiction of an actual LOST character(s). "The Crash" is about as close as it gets. Most the paintings that feature an actual character..they have their BACK facing the viewer. Or they are so cartoony and abstract, If you didn't know the art was "Lost related", you'd have no idea who you were looking at. Not knocking the artist's styles at all...I like ALL the revealed paintings...But I think there's a definite reason why "The Crash" is always at the top of the 'favorite' list. Cuz the characters are easily identifiable.

I just hope one of the remaining artists was chosen for their spot on realistic 'portrait' painting prowess.

I created this montage of Sayid today...I wish we would get ONE reveal that was sort of like this before it's all said and done!

Where's the new clue? Thought it would be up by now.

ChrisL said...

Morning all.

@alteridiom, I got a local framer to do it. It's not the cheapest way to go but I felt this print deserved it. The guy I go to has a huge choice of frames and mounts etc and he's happy to set you up with a table so you can sit and try lots of combinations. Ah - old style customer service!

Zort70 said...

Hi all, I'm surprised there isn't a new clue as well.

Does anyone know who bought the first poster last time and have they had the letter yet ?

Martyn said...

@alteridiom...

No, I live in the UK. That poster is a rib jones poster I got from a raconteurs gig a couple of years ago. Really nice poster actually, got copper on it and stuff.

@justthinking...

I'm not doing it for commercial purposes and it's only an 8x10 canvas. Plus, what else can you do when the real deal is sold out? I will probably take the photo down but it'd be pretty lame if I got a court order to destroy the canvas.

thorsten said...

being a McGoohan guy, here is what Wired had to say about the reboot, Zort…

http://www.wired.com/underwire/2009/11/review-the-prisoner-2009/

Zort70 said...

Thanks thorsten, I've got a feeling it is going to be terrible when I ses it, but I'm hoping for something that will salvage it from just another bad remake.

Zort70 said...

..when I see it...

Martyn said...

Cool, the prisoner is on my "website". Will load it up to watch when I get back from work. Anyone know if it was good or not?

Martyn said...

Just got off the phone with the framers and they explained it all to me and i'm sticking (no pun intended) with the dry mounting. Yes, it is permanent but it preserves the poster and I can change the frame and mount in the future so i'm a lot happier about the situation.

Don't care about the monetary value of it, it's mine and I want it looking perfect.

thorsten said...

Be seeing you, Zort!

Lisa-Maladylis said...

The prisoner-- meh, I think it was going on longer but I went to bed. It reminded me of that show with Jim Carey- The Truman show. Where he was locked in a movie set and finally figures out that he can get out. I didn't like the bounces back and forth between real life and the village.

Thanks everyone for the condolences. I always feel like I never get to talk about my son anymore so it's nice to be able to now and then. I miss him so- we were very close.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

I just found this video of my son someone made of him. link Someone else asked about him this morning. He was a BMX biker as you can see lol OK enough about that. I'm in tears. Thanks for letting a mom talk about her son with out booing.
Ok so new clues ??? where are they ??

Zort70 said...

Lisa, we all have big shoulders to cry on.

Let it all out.

Lisa, I can't imagine how hard that all must have been for you. sending good thoughts your way...

thanks Guys, I guess the holidays get me every year. Every year I expect for it not to get me and yet when I least expect it, I'm taken out by it again. Ok, I have some Dharma beer cozys to make, got to get it done. Thanks.

WOW Lisa, what a super cool guy! Thanks for sharing that.

Hey y'all. Regarding a new clue: any word from AndySchex if he's gotten a letter w/ the poster? It looks like he has still the lowest reported order number for "The Barracks"!?

Hey ARGers -- quick Hi from work!

Lisa, so sorry for your loss. Heartbreaking.

Still no new clue. Do we think TYSON is waiting until later in the week, pushing these back to skip Thanksgiving, or go late the week of thanksgiving to avoid interfering with travel plans?

kiwilostie said...

When is thanksgiving?

Zort70 said...

As there has been no new clue, I've created a NEW POST with something that was sent in to us.

ChrisL said...

That's great Zort. Although I am somewhat disappointed to learn that I am not supposed to numb the pain of having to turn to ebay with alcohol...

Cheif Brody said...

@ Sayid's Girl...

I actually posted that Sayid Montage with you in mind last nite.

I now know the artist's pallette is severly limited do to the printing costs...but when this ARG was first launched...that's the kind of art I was hoping to see.

I also have a theory that there was a 'talent licensing' fee that they are trying to avaoid in using the actor's exact likenesses in selling these posters. I almost think they were TOLD to NOT show faces, so they didn't have to pay them extra for using their image in a 'commercial' venture.

It goes back to Seinfeld...When "The Kramer" episode aired...NBC saw a grand opportunity for marketing Kramer's 'hideous' portrait on T-Shirts, coffee mugs, and...well...posters. They had to PAY Michael Richards a bundle for licensing his image. So, that may be why we haven't seen any photo-realistic depictions, too.
