Frame 13 - Clue 2 NY PLAYA 264

A lot later in the day than the first clue for frame 13, but it is here for us now.

Amy Lynn was the first to notice.

There is a film called Ping Pong Playa, and the title on the film poster looks very like the Playa word on the new clue, which further links the reveal to the SPiN club.

So that's clue two... assuming we get clue three tomorrow, and clue four Thursday, I guess we're on track for (another) Friday morning reveal.

StrobeJams said...

Friday would be very unfortunate...

thorsten said...

Different typeface, this one…

ChrisL said...

Confirms everyone has been on the right track - well done all.

Zort70 said...

A video from a SPiN tournament event, not relevant to PLAYA, but shows you what it looks like inside.

Amy Lynn said...

11am would be unfortunate. Doesn't matter much what day it is to me.

Zort70 said...

There is a film called Ping Pong Playa

Amy Lynn said...

Anyone want to call Chris at FP and ask him to call Spin?

Dan said...

Perhaps some significance to the L & A being connected...

Zort70 said...

Amy - ROFL, I'm sure he would appreciate that.

Zort70 said...

Dan, I've updated the main page with the film poster for Ping Pong Playa, and the L A is similarly connected.

Attorney Greg said...

This clue would be more exciting if you hadn't solved it prior to its post. You guys (girls) are good.

As long is it ends up at spin, the clues will not offer much to do except eventually reveal the time and confirmation that it is a pretty intelligent group.

Zort70 said...

There is also this article at filmintuition.com

Which has the headline

"Susan Sarandon-- Ping-Pong Playa?"

Amy Lynn said...

@Attorney Greg... yeah, LOL. But there must be people following the game who haven't been on LostARGs or DarkUFO, right? Who do actually need each of the clues?

JT said...

Trying to see what that red pattern in the letters is from- tabletop, paddles, floor?

Have emailed Spin to see if they have WIFI. Did not mention LOST.

Amy Lynn said...

JT, good idea. I'm laughing at the idea of everyone sitting there with our laptops in the middle of a big room of people playing ping pong.

Ellen said...

You folks are amazing. I'm home with the flu, and I can't believe how quick you are to pick up the details of the new reveals! Go team!

hobbit said...

Do we have any attendees yet? A twitter contact would be great if I am to have any shot at this whatsoever.

Amy Lynn said...

hobbit, depends on the time, but I'm assuming I'll be there. twitter.com/room317. I'll probably have someone on the phone also, as it's faster for me to give someone the URL than tweet it.

JT said...

There was a poster awhile back who said might go- think it was acs-have to look back.

Dan said...

If it's Friday, I'll already be gone, but if it's Thursday and the time isn't absolutely horrendous for me, I'm ntoriusdan.

JT said...

Bill Mack at Spin has emailed back one word- Yes. So they do have WIFI. He did not ask why I wanted to know.

Amy Lynn said...

Everybody email Bill Mack!

Zort70 said...

Bill "Chris" Mack

Amy Lynn said...

I just emailed him to see if he'll give me any info. My guess is no.

ObFuSc8 said...

I think this pretty much confirms SPiN. Now for a date/time.

Since TYSON continues to ignore the midwest I regret that I probably cannot attend. Hopefully someone is available for the onsite reveal?

ObFuSc8 said...

JT -- hmmm, they seem to have ignored my email, but then again I did not confine my questions to WiFi access :)

ObFuSc8 said...

Is Bill Mack's email on their website?

Amy Lynn said...

I used info@spinyc.com

Capcom said...

Wow Ellen, sorry that you're still sick! :-(

Ellen said...

Thanks. I hope I'm better in time for the reveal, although it doesn't seem to matter. My computer is just not fast enough. Darn Vista!!@#$%@

Zort70 said...

In other flu news, my mum is almost recovered, apart from a nasty cough.

Amy Lynn said...

Can anyone tell me if the iPhone knows your account information simply by putting in your name and password?

MeSoCrazy said...

I'm still waiting for them to do a reveal in Utah. I can't believe they haven't. It's such a happening state. I say with love and by love I mean hate. Which I feel I can say as I have lived here all my life. (Sssh don't tell anyone).

Well now that we (or you guys) have it figured out, lets just get to the reveal. That hour were we all refresh our page over and over non stop until we see it and then have 10 seconds (or less) before it's over. And then we get to the other fun part where we all mourn the fact that we couldn't get in. Really there's so much waiting around for such a little teeny moment that is getting so teensy weensy with every reveal but yet oddly the wait for them feels longer.

I clearly have nothing to add other than a lot of words. Non of which are important in the slightest.

Zort70 said...

What other fun can you have that lasts 10 seconds or less ?

Amy Lynn said...

Nothing I'm familiar with, Zort.

Justin said...

hmmm wonder why they used "playa" in the clue...was it just to link it to the Ping Pong Playa movie? That movie came out in 2007. Seems odd to link a clue to a movie that came out 2 years ago.

Amy Lynn said...

@justin, I'm pretty sure they just wanted us to head in the direction of ping pong.

Capcom said...

Good news on your Mum Zort.

At least you had a very nice Olympics hosting, MeSoCrazy. It looked great on TV from NY anyway. :-)

Capcom said...

Someone's favorite liquor shot drink could last 10 seconds, including the burn on the way down. :o)

Justin said...

yeah, that's probably the case. Just thinking out loud.

Btw, It mentions in several places on the Spin website that the weekly events are members only. But friday night's event doesnt mention whether or not it's members only. Anyone know if it is? I'm just trying to figure out if the reveal will be friday night at the event or during normal hours (they open at 11am).

Amy Lynn said...

I think the events are members only, but you don't need to be a member to go in and play.

vabauer said...

Amy Lynn, regarding the iPhone probably the best you can do is copy either your email, password or CC#, I was on the horrendous 3G network with only my login email copied to the clipboard and I was able to snatch Jacobs Cabin, a lot of luck is definitely involved (more like FATE??)

exciting times!! I will be attending Comic-Con for the first time ever, I hope there's some kind of LostArgs meet to discuss the series finale!

Levittra said...

Playa is beach in spanish. IDK if that's been mentioned

Dan said...

@vabauer - that's insane! Congrats, and thanks for giving us potential attendees some hope.

JT said...

Zort- for sure that poster is where they got the letters-wow- quick find for you!

Here is post by atcs- you still there?
"Finally a reveal that I am probably able to attend! Hoping it's scheduled at a time that I can make it though

November 10, 2009 8:44 AM"

JT said...

Bill Mack (aka The Wizard of Waff Waff per his post)is at bill@spinyc.com. One n.

Amy Lynn said...

JT, just sent him this:

Hi Mr. Mack!

Would you be able to tell me if you are hosting a LOST event either Thursday or Friday, and what time that event might be at ?

Much obliged. I will write you a song and/or make you a cupcake for the correct info.

Amy

Justin said...

he might go for the cupcake.

JT said...

LOL Amy- hope he likes cupcakes.

There was another reply from:

Also yes, there is WIFI. He's at franck@spinyc.com

Friday morning PST I hope it's before I have to leave for work.

MJCarp said...

maybe playa will be . . .sand ping pong, bring in sand to the venue. Can that happen in Manhattan?

miss you all. one more day here in the desert. Hoping for Thursday/Friday reveal.

comixguru said...

Zort- glad your mum is feeling better!

Ellen- hope you start feeling better soon! think happy LOST thoughts... :)

comixguru said...

Amy Lynn- i'm following you on twitter and have sent you an @ message :) Thanks for going to the reveal and have fun- whenever it is!

comixguru said...

MeSoCrazy- i enjoyed your words :) They made me smile

Scoutpost said...

I think for the first time I'm not looking forward to this reveal like I did the others. It was fun when back when we would guess about the clues, wait for people who went to the locale collect their stuff and give us the URL, watch the poster be revealed, ponder whether you wanted it or not, and then if you did you purchased it.

Now it's all business- Gotta figure out the clue so you can be at the reveal at the exactly the right time, have your computer all geared up and ready to go, watch intently for the right URL, f5 at exactly the right time so that you see the "buy now" button exactly when it goes live and then type like crazy to get the order in...and even then it involves a little bit of luck.

I still look forward to seeing what comes, but I hope I don't like anything too much because it's a crap shoot as to whether I'd actually get it...just not as much fun as it used to be.

Ok sorry, I'm done with my Debbie Downer moment.

Unknown said...

I think it wil be on Thursday. This would be good for the Lost fans since there are two separate Shepard Fairey print releases on Thursday at random times. This would take some of the print / EB resellers out of the picture. I will be trying for all three.

Amy Lynn said...

Unless we get another clue like now, it's not going to be Thursday.

MeSoCrazy said...

@Zort those ten seconds are more like a big giant freak out that is all said and done in the name of fun.

@Capcorn yes we did. And they were fun. But that was so in the past. And was no Lost poster reveal, which we all know is clearly more exciting.

@comixguru Ahh thanks. I really do need to learn how to edit/stop/find a end, but I appreciate you appreciating my words.

I am still slightly ill from finding a slug in my carrots. Yes I thought that I had to share this with everyone here at LOST ARGs, because how gross is that? Yes, edit.

MeSoCrazy said...

@Scoutpost I totally feel you. I really really hope that I don't want (or need, because that's a legitimate feeling, IMO) another poster, because I feel that the luck as you say, which I totally agree, is not on my side. What is that word? Anxiety anxiety. I am still really excited to see what is revealed, I just hope I don't want it. Because I'm like a child, I don't like not being able to have something I want.

Sorry for all my multiple posts. I am seriously avoiding work.

Scoutpost said...

@MeSoCrazy- yes, I don't think I would have a tantrum if I didn't get a print, it's just how much the "game" has changed.

...and BTW- ewwwwwwww gross! Slugs are one of my least favorite things in the whole world! I am going to throw up for you.

Amy Lynn said...

SpiNYC has ignored my emails.

kiwilostie said...

Anxiety anxiety - classic! lmao

Capcom said...

Ditto what you said at 4:25, Scoutpost.

Somehow slugs get into my hanging bird feeders, ain't that a surprise when I open the lid to put more seed in. Hello slugville. :-p

Amy Lynn said...

I definitely agree with you, Scout, but at the same time, after the crumby time at the last NY event, I have to have some hope.

John-Paul said...

HOLY HELL. Terry O'Quinn just walked into my place of business!!!!!

Amy Lynn said...

John Paul, HOLY CRAP.

Scoutpost said...

John-Paul are you serious?!!!! Holy Crap. Get his autograph and give him a kiss for me. ;)

MeSoCrazy said...

@Scoutpost thank you for throwing up on my behalf. I wanted to do it myself but felt I didn't have the time with work and posting on web sites when I should be working. I apologize for the overshare, but it was simply so gross that keeping it to myself was impossible.

May the next posters be... gosh I was going to try and predict something lame and I realized I couldn't. May they not be something that causes me to throw my pretty mac at the window. After those ten seconds are over, I will truly regret my actions towards my mac. He didn't ask for this.

I can't believe someone (sorry I forgot who) managed to get Jacob's Cabin on their iphone. I wouldn't even dare try. If I fear throwing my computer, my iphone would never stand a chance. Seriously how? I'm not even all thumbs and I.... I'm totally getting ansy thinking about trying for a poster on my iphone. This is silly. Goodness gracious I shall leave you all be and go back to work. Honestly.

Zort70 said...

John-Paul, be a true Lost fan and chase him down the street and beg him for a photo.

MeSoCrazy said...

Well now John-Paul just posted something AMAZING and I'm right back in.

There must be more to this story. And I demand that it be told.

Amy Lynn said...

John Paul, can you get him to post here?

kiwilostie said...

John-Paul Dont leave us hanging like that... *maybe hes serving him at this very moment*

kiwilostie said...

I wonder what Terrys fav poster is so far?...

comixguru said...

Scoutpost- i totally understand how you feel and I share those same sentiments too. Chin up, friend! We'll get thru to the other side sooner than you know and we will look back fondly and remember just the good times :)

John-Paul said...

I'm so upset I don't own the Locke's Secret poster now. I would have driven home to get it.

Anyway, the story is that his wife is from the town where I work. I run the local movie theatre. So he's here with some 20 year old (who I assume to be his kids) and they are watching The Men Who Stare At Goats.

Amy Lynn said...

John-Paul, you are the awesomest person ever.

I think you need to show him this thread, after the movie.

comixguru said...

John-Paul, color me green. He's my fave!!!!! :)

comixguru said...

John-Paul, are you in Hawaii? now i have to go see men who stare at goats! (i was gonna go anyway, but now i have even more incentive to) :)

Yes, and then play ping pong with him. Wait, that doen't sound right.

OMG, John-Paul...you've got to do something after the movie's over! At the very least get a pic!

@Scoutpost: Ditto! Things happen to fast during the reveal for this old broad! LOL I'm totally happy with my 3 I got back at the beginning before the game changed. But I follow along and have empathy or happiness for my fellow Losties!

Zort70 said...

Right that's me done for the night, be seeing you.

Are you sure it's Locke and not Esau? Be careful.

JT said...

I really want to see that movie. There is a book called The Field on the LU reading list that talks about the experiments the movie is about- remote seeing and all. It all comes back to LOST.

I would bet O'Quinn is there just for fun though. We all say hi!

Capcom said...

Way to go John-Paul! Neat-o. :-)

Anyhoo...what's he doing off the island is the big question! Is it TG break for them already? Or, um..is Terry done with taping???

ObFuSc8 said...

So 2 clues in a day, really within 7 hours.

So it'll most likely be a Thursday reveal. I guess they could cram another clue in in the morning and still reveal tomorrow night, but they'll probably want to avoid clashing with the first LOST U tutoring session.

ObFuSc8 said...

Ummm, sorry -- the DROOL was for the Terrry O'Quinn siggy.

@Maven

Yeah, the thing that had me prepared is that I've known he was from the area for a long time and I've been waiting for him to show up. Someone I know met him like 3 years ago, so I figured it would happen at some point. But trust me, I was very nervous. He's so nice though. Everything I would have imagined. All around good guy.

MeSoCrazy said...

If my brother loved me more I would so try to convince him to go for me. And if it also wasn't his birthday. Because he's SO close. I'm calling him anyway, just so I can verbally get the rejection I already know he'll give me.
