Frame 15 Clue 1 - 44 180

Just when I thought it was safe to go to sleep for a few days a new clue is given for hte 15th frame, remember this is the last frame that is Lost.

There are lots of theories flying around in the comments and a couple via email. After reading all of these it appears that the favourite theory is that Australia is the next reveal location.

Some reasons for this, the 44 is in a Yellow / Gold colour, the 44th Parrallel South is a line of latitude that runs through Australia (just about).

Click on the image to go to the Wikipedia article
Thanks to LotteryTicket for telling about the new clue first in the comments at around 1:24am EST, 8:24pm PST.

I like 44!

John LaHair said...

@Thorsten - I like the way you think. :)

And since Zort is always one step ahead of us all when it comes to posting new posts... here's a repost of my last post from previous post (that's a lot of posts):

And a good morning to you all. New clue = a great way to start the day!

Good theories so far, but still to early in the game. Looking at list of posters, it seems our good friend AndySchex may have been 1st poster order for Ben (#2548)... maybe he'll receive something today to help us along.

For those that are out on the roads today... travel safely and know that a new clue will hopefully be posted when you reach your destination (something else to look forward to in addition to seeing family & friends).

I have to be in Paris on business on Tuesday and Wednesday!!! When is this one going to pan out?

thorsten said...

I will be on my way to munich, JPL. crossing the country from the very north to the deep south, were people speak strange and wear Lederhosen.

The 44 is again set in the ususal font, Dirty Headline. Not the usual red, but yellow, so that must be part of the clue. The RGB values are 255, 198, 0 and the closest Pantone value is 123c. The gradient in the background (RGB 26, 26, 26) starts in the lower right corner with and ends in the upper left (RGB 36, 39, 58). The image size is 699 by 319 pixels at 654, 2 k.

StrobeJams said...

The UK again? Like +44 country code and stuff?

Zort70 said...

+44 could be the UK, but I've a feeling that we are headed down under for this one.

Thorsten a very detailed technical analysis of the image :-)

Zort70 said...

By the way in the previous comments I was too sleep deprived and full of cold to type the right words.

What I was after was pictures of The Barracks. (not Jacobs Cabin)

On a brighter note I feel much better today and can actually type straight.

DvdBos said...

This seems a saturday reveal!

Martyn said...

Maybe a Sunday reveal? One clue a day leads the 4th being on the Saturday.

Unless they give us another clue today that is.

thorsten said...

I squeezed from the JPEG everything possible ;))
It's called f15h1.jpg, which follows the usual naming conventions. f12h1.jpg for example was the 7X7 MILES BIG clue, and had the same pixel and file size.
Both files share the same header so we can assume that the same original PSD file is used over and over, and edited every time.
The Ajira flyer was different, it is called f14hfly.jpeg, notice the extra e in jpeg, and the creator used Photoshop 5. We are at Photoshop 11 now, which is the CS4 version. So I assume someone else did that one.

Is that a yellow or orange? If orange, could this site be a clue?
http://orange44.blogspot.com/

But my guess is 44 is for the UK's direct dial code...

Martyn said...

Oh how I wish for it to be a UK reveal, scratch that, an England reveal. Would do my damnedest to get there.

But it's going to be Australia no doubt, which is fair enough.

Zort70 said...

As much as I'd love it to be the UK, I think we have had our reveal so this will be somewhere else.

A Saturday reveal seems likely given the previous timing, but we shall see if this is a fast set of clues or a strung out set because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

DvdBos said...

I think we can be safe to say that there will be NO thanksgiving/blackfriday reveal! This is not bad for US fans :)

Even if a lot of them will be away from home this weekend, i think!

John LaHair said...

Zort - glad you're feeling better.

Thorsten - Good work on the image explanation. Also, when in Rome (or in your case... Munich) do as the locals do and embrace the culture & couture, just stay away from yellow lederhosens.... that look was so June 2009. :)

I'm guessing a weekend reveal as well.

DvdBos said...

JPL have you been in Rome? :)
Beautiful city..

John LaHair said...

ImAnnie - not fortunate enough to have traveled to Rome, but it is on the list of places I'd love to visit... the history, the architecture, and of course the food!

Maybe once the poster reveals are done, I can start to replenish the vacation fund. :)

DvdBos said...

The food here in Italy is definitely the GREATEST in Europe and (i think) in the world. You have to try the original one, not the "italian" things someone sell outside Italy :p

This Australia link with the 44th Parallel, I've been looking at a map, and the 44th Parallel seems to be just underneath Aus.

Kyle Scribner said...

from the explanations given so far (just what I've read in these 19 posts and on the main page), i'm not sold on Australia. What's the yellow/Aussie link anyway?

futureself said...

I'm Annie....I agree, Rome is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

I doubt there will be another one in the UK and the Aussie's definitely deserve a reveal ;)

AndySchex said...

@jpl, unfortunately, if I'm lucky enough to be the first buyer, I won't be able to post the first buyer letter until next week. I'm going out of town for the Thanksgiving holidays.

But I can share a photo of my I Heart My Shih Tzu that came in yesterday and was signed by Jorge Garcia

Attorney Greg said...

While the reveal may be in Australia, I do not believe 44 refers to the parrallel - if that was the point why not pick the parallel that actually goes through there instead of just close (from the picture on the main page the 44 appears to miss). My two cents. There was a yellow 44 website in france but I couldn't tell what it was and dediced not to check it out.

Kyle Scribner said...

alright, so i'm not so negative sounding, just pooh-poohing others' ideas, i'll offer a possibility: Rome (speaking of). They've got a hostel known as The Yellow, which is located at 44 via palestro.

DvdBos said...

Rome.. Italy..
I'm from Northern italy, but i may have a trip to Rome for LOST :D

Zort70 said...

That's fantastic Andy, I'll put that picture on the main page if I may.

Zort70 said...

It is very early stages at the moment so don't rule anywhere out yet, but it would be odd if Australia was left out.

DvdBos said...

(and Italy really doesn't deserve a reveal, i agree)

Zort70 said...

Every fan deserves a reveal close to them, but with only 15 (possibly 16) reveals it would be very hard to get global coverage.

Maybe a few more outside of the US would have been good, but logistically it is hard to do.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

kewl, a new clue ! When I saw the clue, I thought they looked like football numbers on someone's jersey. My father is planning on watching the latest football game on Thanksgiving tomorrow so that was my first thought.

DvdBos said...

I was totally not sarcastic, i seriously think that Italy does not deserve any of this. I fear i'm the only italian who is following this viral marketing campaign (and i'm proud of it, even if it is distracting me from my (real) university's problems :D ), so an italian reveal could probably be a very large flop.. we'll see!

DvdBos said...

And, BTW, 44 parallel NORTH passes right through Italy.. (with france, japan, russia, US, canada, romania, bulgaria, serbia, bosnia, croatia)

ChrisL said...

Thorsten, I really enjoyed your image breakdown.

A weekend reveal would be perfect for me.

Thomas said...

HI everybody at LOSTARG,
This is my first post, even though we are approaching the end of LOST poster publications...

On my side, I would love to have a reveal in France!
Furthermore 44 is the id of my county "la Loire Atlantique"...!

I can always hope!

:D
See y'all
and thanks for this great blog

Amy Lynn said...

Australia would be supercool, even if it almost guarantees a horrid reveal time for the rest of us :)

Zort70 said...

Bonjour Thomas, comment allez vous ?

Welcome along, even at this late stage.

DvdBos said...

My French is VERY VERY dusty. Last time I spoke in French was 8-9 years ago.. I almost forgot everything :D Lucky that following LOST in language "bites the dust" off of my English :D

Zort70 said...

While we wait for the next clue I've created a NEW POST for the latest Lost University Tutoring Session

Amy Lynn said...

Has anyone speculated that the URL for frame 16 might be on the Blu-Ray box?

ChrisL said...

Amy, I have the Season 5 Blu-Ray, I can't see anything on the packaging. I'm waiting to view the content until you guys in the US have it but as that's not for 2 weeks I can't imaging there will be anything there relating to this.

Amy Lynn said...

ChrisL, maybe it's on the US sets only? Or maybe it'll be featured on the first lecture of Lost University? The way the timing is going, it seems that we'll almost positively be getting the last frame on or about 12/8.

Dan said...

Hi everyone! Back from our honeymoon in the Southern Caribbean, where we got to see San Juan, St. Thomas, Tortola, Antigua, St. Lucia, and Barbados. Just a fantastic trip all around.

I see that I missed an ok Ben print. It's still great because it's of Ben, but I think that's probably the only character that would have worked (imagine this was of any other character except for perhaps Desmond, and even then), leading me to conclude it's just ok. That being the case, I'm still going to see if I can get my hands on one via trade or purchase.

Very nervous about this reveal possibly being on Saturday but I'm hoping that won't be the case.

By the way, although I've mentioned this a couple of times before, I am now absolutely convinced that there will be a second edition of 16 entirely new prints with respect to the final three seasons. Hopefully, they'll increase the number of prints available for purchase, though.

Anyway, good to be back - hope you all had a great week!

ChrisL said...

Amy, I was just thinking that maybe it's connected to the LU going live via the Blu-Ray, you're right, the timing could work.

On the US sets only!!! YIKES!

ChrisL said...

Hi Dan, sounds like you had a great trip :-)

MJCarp said...

Welcome back DAN! Glad you had a nice time in the Islands.

There were several good posts in the previous comments related to today's clue. 44 parallel South goes thru New Zealand.

I copied in several website urls that seemed worth keeping an eye on. Grid 44, in particular, as I had reason to visit this site years ago re: Uluru.

If Australia is NOT part of this ARG I would be very surprised.

MJCarp said...

Day 44 on the island, November 4, Thursday: raft is launched, Arzt blows up, Locke is nearly pulled underground, Aaron is retrieved from Rousseau, Desmond wakes up and pushes the button, hatch is blown, quarantine on door, wet Walt whispers, Hurley tells Jack about the Numbers

Amy Lynn said...

Ooh, good thinking. Although, I don't think wet Walt whispers was day 44. I think that was some days later.

ObFuSc8 said...

Morning all!

Zort -- glad to see you are feeling better.

It is pretty early stages for this one, but like a lot of you I can see why they'd have Australia included in a reveal.

When I was looking at the map of the 44th parallel south yesterday, I saw that it actually ran through NZ, and seemed to run right under Australia. But LT's reference to the 44th grid point being in Australia is a possibility as well. I'd wonder if TYSON and crew know about the actual planetary grid and theories as they relate to LOST, but then since they have been lurking on LOST forums, they probably do.

As far as they yellow color -- from wikipedia: Green and gold are the national colors of Australia, as proclaimed by Sir Ninian Stephen, the Governor-General of Australia on 19 April 1984.

I f they skip posting clues on Thursday and Friday, the reveal could even bo on Monday.

ObFuSc8 said...

typos abound. bo=be.

MJCarp said...

Amy Lynn, meant to reference Lostpedia timeline before hitting the post button. "Man of Science, Man of Faith" which is Season 2, but timeline credits to Day 44.

"... a new clue is given for hte 15th frame, remember this is the last frame that is Lost."

reAnimated said...

I agree that I thought Day 44 was pretty much when S1 ended/S2 began.

Kyle Scribner said...

i agree australia has been a huge part of the show thus would make sense to have a reveal there, but the yellow 44, to me, shows little evidence pointing to australia. it's early tho; could turn out to be spot on. thanks obfuscate for the gold reference.

dylansdad said...

I like the idea of hosting two consecutive reveals in Hawaii and Australia, but why not use 42 for the 42nd parallel? It's a bit more to the north--and it's one of the numbers, of course. I'm waiting to see the next clue. (And crossing my fingers for a Monday reveal, though unlikely at this point.)

Ugh, long ass day at work and now have to go in early on my day off, so really, I need a new clue and a lit more comments to read through on this train journey home.

Another 16 posters would have my wallet come to life and throttle me. I'd have to give my CC to my gf so I didn't buy anymore.

As strange an arg as it is, been quite a fun ride, it actually made us care about it because it affected our emotions where as watching rachel Blake run away from the security, I know I wasn't getting as frustrated as I was with this.

But TLE was still th best ARG to date, Apollo bar wrapper on my wall too. Actually, will move it to my LOST wAll underneath the hatch I think.

Skidzy said...

hey guys rachelskid here. surprised to see a clue, but also excited. I also think this cannot end without Australia, but also... Ann Arbor. Amylynn's thoughts on umich seem worth a follow up.

I was thinking Australian would be last. here is what i was thinking, i posted on the unsolved clue comments, but no one seems to be there much. So, it said once "15 Will be lost, the 16th Will be found." note that the "will" is capitalized. not sure what this means. But, i found this site: http://whatsup.foundmagazine.com/

its seems inline with this type of project, and the group is off to australia and new zealand. i can see how this might be the last reveal.

but, of course, just a thought.

I 2nd rachelwager: If the 16th isn't Lost, what's it supposed to be?

Also, I think when this is all done, they should get 16 awful artists to do a series of prints based on the most lame, throw-away, "scoff at" moments from the show.

They could have prints like "My 3-Year Old Cousin Eric for The Tree Frog" or "Some Hobo We Found for Jack's Tattoos." We'd finally get prints for "Nikki & Paulo," "Kate Licks the Spoon," "Isabel," "Charlie Steals Aaron," and "WAAAAAAAAAALT!"

Now that'd be great!

BTW, these tubes are resilient little buggers. Two days ago, I walked into the room where I was admiring the JC print but had left the tube on the floor. It was dark as I was hoping to get a better feel for the glow in the dark elements of this piece. I basically stepped on the tube and log-rolled off onto my fanny. My coccyx is still thanking me for my less than cat-like reflexes. The tube was no worse for the wear!

As Sam pointed out, 44 north puts you in Michigan, not dead on Ann Arbor but within about 100 miles. The University of Michigan is in Ann Arbor and the school colors are gold/yellow and blue. The Dharma Initiative began there in 1970. That seems as solid, if not more so than Australia for a reveal location.

Tess315 said...

Just slit the tape at the seam with or without removing the label. I didn't remove the label.
It's a tube within a tube so you don't need to be concerned about cutting the print. You only need enough pressure to cut the tape.

Isidor Isaac Rabi (pronounced /rɑːbi/; 29 July 1898 – 11 January 1988) was a Galician-born American physicist and Nobel laureate recognised in 1944 for his discovery of nuclear magnetic resonance.

Cool, really hope you do get Jacob's Cabin but majority of people with it in their possession are selling it at value price and not retail price, be it LOST fan or not, still really uncool.

Will keep an eager eye out for it for you.

Glad you don't hate me too! :D

Following up on colors discussed re: University of Michigan

The original U-M colors were described in 1867 as “Azure Blue” and “Maize,” two standard artist’s oil colors of the day. The blue was described as being “the blue of a summer sky” and the maize as “the yellow of ripe corn.” These colors are represented today on the University flag and the ribbons affixed to diplomas; these colors are slightly different from one another.

The College of Engineering has the specific color Gold: PMS 123 coated.

nothing you probably haven't heard already, but here is part of article "Hollywood, universities .. .

from USA Today:News/Education/
May 15, 2009

Lost executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof stress that the decision to base the Dharma folks at a 1970s-era U of M should be viewed as a compliment. After all, Cuse said, they chose the school because of its reputation as "a real center of intellectuality."

"There was an incredibly vital university academic community, and we just felt like acknowledging that by making the characters from there was just kind of cool and very sort of appropriate for the time," he said.

Cuse and Lindelof say to expect the Dharma-Michigan connection to play a significant role as the show heads into next season, its sixth and final one.

The Michigan Wolverines, that state up North as the Ohio State Buckeye's call them :) A friendly college football rivalry.

I received The Barracks today 285/300 order #2506.

sayid'sgirl - It certainly is a friendly college football rivalry. If you mean "friendly" in the same way that Tom was once dubbed "Mr. Friendly". :)

Lol. Sayid'sgirl, join the club. Everyone thinks it's a reference to X-men's wolverine. The little m at the begining goes unnoticed. I'm probably better off with the false assumptions these days given Michigan's performance on the field. Keeping my fingers crossed for an Ann Arbor reveal though!

Hey there ARG peeps!

Just got home and YAY, GWave invite. I am about to waaaaaaaaaave! THANKS AmyLynn.

I think the Michigan/UMich connection for the 44 clue may be as likely as Australi, with as little as we have to work with. Hoping for a bit more soon. Hint hint TYSON!

Dan, sounds like you had a great time on your honeymoon. It's amazing that your pic so echoes The Transmission!

Have a great holiday, everyone. Hope it is full of a very exciting clue!

I like The Barracks a lot. It's not classic LOST but I have The Hatch for that.

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who partake in overeating! I'm very thankful for my family, friends and wonderful life, and, of course, all my LOST buddies! If you're driving somewhere (like me) be safe!

@ Sam: The Barracks looks great. I'm still waiting for mine. The colors really pop in your pics. I like the greens and blue/greens in the hills.

I wonder if the used house paints on these Lost posters?

Sam G said...

@Spy Hill Skates

I think I'm going to frame The Barracks in white. The colors really do pop.

MJCarp said...

Sam G, those are great photos and I want the Apollo Bar! and call me crazy, but is that writing in trees? numbers perhaps? Seeing clues everywhere these days.

Safe travels to all on the move. What maven said! Enjoy the day!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of us in the US & Happy Thursday to everyone else :)

So being an American and bored on the day before Thanksgiving, I was looking at some Thanksgiving history/myths. I was reading about Plymouth Rock (where the pilgrims supposedly landed) and noticed this as the directions to get there

"The rock is located in downtown Plymouth along the shoreline. You can get there either from the north or the south by taking Route 3 and getting off at exit 6 (Route 44), which will take you into downtown Plymouth."

Route 44, does it mean something? Almost certainly not, but I have had a few drinks and found it odd mainly because I went straight from Lostargs to my search of Thanksgiving trivia (of course the drinking has something to do with it). I need another clue...and a drink.

Hello from North Carolina, where I'm visiting brother and his family for turkey day. We have dueling laptops here, since everyone seems to have one, and we just don't know when to stop!

EllenB,

Hello from nearby Virginia. We had an early dinner, so I'm back on my trusty laptop. What did we do before the internet?
