Looks like lowest so far is #2140.

That was nerve wracking!

feel_the_insanity said...

I am SO done with this ridiculous ARG. Fan appreciation? Ha! More like an insult to us fans?!!?!

The Bench Coach said...

I missed out...I was in the order screen and didn't get it fast enough...I am so bummed.

:(

Congrats everyone else!

RobPerrin said...

Gave it my best shot, but no go.

mike29 said...

thanks to everyone who went to the reveal. They deserve a round of virtual applause

Sam G said...

That sucks it crashed after taking my credit card info

The Bench Coach said...

man that blows...I'd almost prefer there were no posters at all...

Scoutpost said...

Yes this one was brutal. So many people online trying to buy it I guess and the loading was slow for each page.

The Partyman said...

Insane.

Login button did nothing, for about 30 seconds, then continue checkout went to 404 screen, now sold out.

:(

feel_the_insanity said...

Was logged in, put in my credit card info and it's gone....UGH!! Easily my favorite so far, I've been waiting for Jacob's Cabin since the beginning!

Congrats to ever who could get one...I'll begin crying now.

mistersh0w said...

Don't know what happened on my end... Was stuck at checkout screen, then it crashed.

ugh...

Anyone willing to trade this one for the Swan Station print?

andrew said...

First one i missed. got all the way to enter billing and it crashed. Well, fullset = fail.

Anonymous said...

It's my birthday, so if 2138 is the first that would be killer...

It also freaked the hell out of me, it did a "page took too long to load" thing. But I checked my account orders and it's there.

Anonymous said...

What a bunch of bs. Reloaded for 40 minutes with it going slow as hell. Then clicked buy now and the log in button would not even load after the page took 5 minutes to come up. F this.

Dan said...

@LostionLondon that's horrible. Congrats to everyone who got one and I just hope most, if not all, went to real fans and not flippers. And certainly not to the D-Bag who posted the wrong URL.

Brad Sobolewski said...

got halfway through the damn checkout then 404 error - I'm done with this crap - honestly I know the producers never intended for it to happen like this...

Unknown said...

anyone manage to grab an extra? lol

reAnimated said...

Yeah i got ALL the way to "Complete Checkout" then got a 404 page error.

Man, this one was BRUTAL!

justanothersky said...

How many seconds it took to be sold out this time?

I pressed the Buy Now then signed in and it showed me the "Sorry we just ran out of item #12"!!!! :(

InternetToughGuy said...

What a load of crap in the middle of checking out and all of a sudden got an error for the page when I went to finish my order ...

Unknown said...

Order #2194

AndySchex said...

#2207 - Crazy! Got a timeout in the middle of the transaction and wasn't sure I got one until I saw the confirmation email.

Anonymous said...

check your account orders, mistersh0w, it might still be there if you got to the checkout button.

Ginger said...

I really wanted that! I was about to enter my credit card info & BAM link broke. I guess that means it sold out as I was entering? Major bummer. Oh, well. Congrats to those that were fast.

AF said...

Also I say "good work" to the people who went to Super7. Those freebies look awesome! I think that Hurley picture would have made a pretty great print in itself.

Sagacious Penguin said...

Got into the mailing address info screen and then it just stopped working (I assume that was when they sold out).

Very sad. It's somewhat hilarious that they don't want all of our money...

Anonymous said...

thanks jopinionated and congrats to those quick enuf to get one. this is one i really wanted, but not in the cards i guess. nothin' but '404' --kyle

RobPerrin said...

Other strange thing was that it didn't autoload CC info after typing in the first digit as it did in the past. I had it ready to c&p, but lost a second or two there.

Congrats to those who got it.

Cranklinstein McFranklinstein said...

Where can I sign up for an account for the next release?

Anonymous said...

wow this was ridiculous. refreshing the page with an addon every 5 seconds or so, all of a sudden the screen goes white. When it comes back, I press "buy now" and it takes me to the order page. I fill in my email and pw, then I can't even click the damn button after that. Sold Out. Thanks to everyone who has multiple posters for screwing those who have never purchased one before.

JPL said...

So... in the process of checking out & waiting to confirm billing address... then white screen & then Forbidden... :(

Hope that a few of us were able to get thru.

StrobeJams said...

If anyone was able to make it to the "checkout" screen and was able to click "checkout" but it timed out. Check your account info order history! It might still be there! It was for me.

mistersh0w said...

@Anon 3:42 - Of course, that would only work if I hadn't closed the page right?

Also, they don't let you access your account page while orders are processing...

Anonymous said...

@anon

amanda said...

order 2298 which is a lot higher than most of you......I'm scared of it being oversold!

Site was brutal today. Congrats to all who managed to get the poster too! A very happy lostie here.

Anonymous said...

no, if you still log in, or even if you long into any of the other websites, it will take you to your account page/order history.

Anonymous said...

Welcome to the poster buying world. This happens with many popular sites and artists, unfortunately.

20,000+ people going for 200 prints. Odds are not good.

Fractions of seconds make all the difference.

Enjoy the hunt

Yes I also want to thank all those who went down to Super7. Thanks for the great work! Much appreciated.

And congrats to all who got the posters.

feel_the_insanity said...

I don't even know who ended up going to Super7 but thank you! You made this day kinda fun!

I plan on sending my email to Tyson later today them they have screwed the fans royally. I know take offense to the notion that this is a "fan appreciation" event. They could care less!

So pissed. I was literally on the final step and clicked Confirm Order and it kicked me off.

Sam G said...

I don't think they are handling this well. Once the poster is in your cart you should be able to check out. This is where they should tell you if you can or can't get the poster.

I happen to have gotten a poster before so all my info is on record there. If you haven't registered before or managed to get a poster before, I don't think there's any way you can get all your info in before it's sold out.

I can't get back in to check to see if I got it or not but I have not got a confirm email yet. Could it still be possible I got one?

andrew said...

@masheen

Here's the email I got after I wrote in:

There is no wait list, as we are totally sold out of the prints, and did so in less than 10 seconds. The site did not crash, that is what happens when the print sells out while you are in the middle of an order. This is to make sure we do not oversell in large amounts. Sorry you were not able to purchase the poster.

clearly, none of you have ever done a shepard fairy onsale.

it's damn near impossible to equip a site for the kind of traffic DCAABP saw today. even if you up the bandwith, there's no telling how much traffic you are going to get, and it's not all that easy to change on the fly. you need to all step back, take a deep breath and think before blasting tyson for this.

such is the ephemeral nature of hyper-limited items like this. i wanted one, didn't get one, oh, well. them's the breaks.

I sucessfully purchased one, but the checkout process took much longer than 10 seconds. It felt like forever, but it was probably about 10 seconds per page. How can they say it sold out in 10 seconds? Are they saying 200 people started the checkout process within 10 seconds?

By the way does everyone know about the fake url that was posted? A tweet from JensenClan88:

JensenClan88 New LOST print #12 revealed - sold out in 10 seconds - Daniel Danger for Jacob's Cabin - NoOysterHere.com

feel_the_insanity said...

Can't say I care about Shepard Fairey, can't say I care about "Well, they'll be on Ebay." I care about being able to purchase one, and to me, they failed in making this a fan appreciation sale. Flippers don't matter, they'd be there even if there was some "LOST sign up" for this thing. To me, it's about printing enough for the people who want one. Why can't they just ask people to send them their money, then print the number of copies accordingly? Why?!?!

Sam G said...

I sent them a letter too. How is a new purchaser ever going to get a chance at getting a poster unless they let people register their information before hand?

I still think the limit should be attached to the cart so once 300 is reached no one can put it in their cart.

Just spoke with the S7 St. Pete store. Scott said the S7 San Fran guys were in Japan this week and couldn't get the LOST swag to St. Pete on time for the release, otherwise they might have done some type of dual release.

All of you living in Central FL should go check out Super7 in St. Pete. Nice people.

Thanks to everyone in San Fran who went to the release.

Ginger said...

Thanks for the tip Dr Mum. I think I will try that next time:) As I said last time, there's no way I will be able to get one. But I still had to try. And I am still here to enjoy the ride! Thanks to the twitter folk.
Zort, thank you for taking care of us, too:)

DvdBos said...

mistersh0w, it's exacly what i'm saying ;)

I'd like to clear something up: i'm not a "Flipper", I'm somebody who LIKES this poster, but LIKES BETTER some other posters which already sold out. ;)

blamepop said...

God i'm having a bad luck week. Hours cut at work, previous tenant of my art studio has unpaid bills and i'm getting harassed by the debt collection services, my dog died (RIP Skye don't know what i'll do without you) and now this. Getting worried about going to the cinema later, it's in a rough area i'll probably get shot at!

I'm not bitter though, it's a beautiful print congratulations to all who managed to get it, I hope you enjoy it and frame it properly, it deserves more than a clip frame!!!!!

Actually i'd be interested to know how people have been framing their posters, when it comes to my own work I really struggle with framing, it's really tricky to get right!

Well done everyone else, commiserations to the others and good night!

Didn't sell out in 10 seconds for sure. I feel bad about being worried about order #2211 after seeing some higher ones. Said it in the last post but so sorry to everyone who missed out. A big virtual hug for you all. Also a big thanks to those at the reveal. Hope you at least had a chance to get one. I think this one might be my second favorite after the smoke monster. Although still haven't seen walts kidnapping in person yet.

The fake site was taken down.

Adam said...

@ Zort

Awesome. I just want to say thank you again for organizing and running this site and making the entire experience fun. I know it has gotten testy for the last 4 posters or so but I was actually surprised it took that long for scalpers to move in.

Try not to get too sore at the people running this thing. There is just no way they can control who buys the prints. I know its frustrating to fans of the show that have been here since the beginning but give them a break--they tried to do something great for the fans and it has been messed up by things out of their control.

Ginger said...

AMEN, Adam.

Jesse! Rikkitik said...

Re:frames

I got the Trendsetters poster frame in pewter at Michael's for only $15 each. http://bit.ly/z6v4d

They come 18x24 and look awesome, for a great price. Been meaning to put up some pics - I'm so happy with the look. Especially The Hatch - it really pops behind glass with this nice frame.

feel_the_insanity said...

I have to say, the problem isn't us (everyone buying the prints) it's whoever thought up the idea of limited numbers. Did they really think there were only 200 LOST fans out there? Why didn't they just release a picture of the print...take down how many people wanted it...then print them and ship them? I would gladly wait MONTHS for my poster to be printed and shipped.

@everyone...Congrats to anyone who could get one, this print is truly the best.

Rob said...

It's a bummer that they can't set it up like an ticket site. For example, if you buy sorting event tickets or plane tickets online the ticket is reserved for you for a set period of time once you begin the checkout process. It was really disappointing to get to the last page of the checkout process and then get 404'd. I'd much rather have not gotten into the checkout pages at all.

Unknown said...

Jesse! Rikkitik said...

did the folks that were given order numbers after purchasing get 2 order confirmation emails this time?

JT said...

Zort- best thing today is that you were able to get poster- and LT too I think. congrats.

Anonymous said...

I was fooled by the fake Charlie poster URL, but luckily still got in for the Cabin in time. #2228. Wish I'd jumped on the ARG bandwagon earlier. Now that I have my first one, I'm getting that compulsive urge to track down the whole set and I don't have enough money for that kind of endeavor. :P

P.S. The flipper/scalper thing is silly. I've seen maybe three ebay sellers per poster. There are thousands of LOST fans fighting to get these, and mark my words, they would not work so hard if they weren't fans just as proud and vicious as yourselves. If GoMerch was somehow able to restrict it to only true fans wanting to keep the poster for themselves, it would not shave off even ONE second of the sellout time. Not even one.

P.P.S. My advice is wait a year. Once LOST ends, there will be posters on E-bay for less than $100. Not from flippers but from true fans who have simply moved on. Relax. The posters aren't gone forever as long as you're willing to track them down further down the road.

Can't remember who it was, a week or two ago we were kicking around WC moments that Daniel Danger could depict and someone said Jacob's Cabin.

feel_the_insanity said...

@Anon

I agree, actually. I know it's hard to tell from my frantic yelling, but I agree. I think this time next year these prints may be available on Ebay for a reasonable price. I have to hope...there's only hope. This print is the print I was waiting for, exactly what I thought it would look like...it's just frustrating now, you know? If they really cared about us, they would print as many as we want. A true fan appreciation for LOST would cater to all LOST fans who wanted a print. Would anyone of us be upset if they had to wait extra long for whoever prints these things to 1) print more posters and 2) get them signed by the artist (or not signed, I don't care)?

I'm done ranting, because I am really against it (especially with the flippers). But...I have a feeling one day I'll have this print framed on my wall.

Anonymous said...

nothing is being sold on EBeans per se. it is individuals who are selling them and using EB as a resource to sell.

Anonymous said...

I mean and from their perspective they could have made a helluva lot more money if they opened up the run size of these too so it is odd.

Unknown said...

As far as I know the site only allows a purchase of one poster per person. Is that correct? I only ask for the people worried about buyers getting the posters in bulk, because that seems a tad unfair considering the limited number of prints.

@Zort70- I meant only one purchase out of all the prints. I think it would be more fair. They would probably have to reveal all the posters so you could choose which one you like the best but it would give the opportunity for more people to at least purchase one.

I've read down through most of the posts here, and I feel bad for everybody who got shut out on this one. Congrats to those who got it.

I still hold out hope that TPTB have a plan to help satisfy everybody who continues to be let down, week after week. As many of us have suggested, non-signed, non-numbered editions are all we want. Considering that god-awful LOST board game got made around season 2-3, they should be able to make this happen.

On a somewhat related note. I took my smoke monster print to school, scanned it into photoshop at 300 dpi (took about 9 scans to get the whole thing), spent a few hours cutting it all together, flattening edges, etc, and now I have a near-perfect rendition hanging on my wall at school. There's only one minor edge that didn't line up, and I really had to be looking for it. In other words, with some time and effort, we could have these things to the right people. If I could do it with little know-how and an old scanner, what could somebody, perhaps named Carlton or Damon, with some connections do?

Just a thought.

Jesse! Rikkitik said...

@hobbit-Yeah I agree about some more unsigned/numbered screen prints. I wouldn't really care for a litho as the screen printing is really what makes it! I'm really just interested in the prints...not the limited ed. side of this.

I think I was just lost in the CC processing process. All my information was in there, so there was no way I could physically go any faster. Just super disappointing.

glad i ecieded against this one O.O' seems like there'd be a lot of tears..
i can see why people are pissed, but think, thousands of thousands all loading one sever for 200 prints. it's kinda luck of the draw.
or perhaps its fate..
anyhow, anyone know how fast the Kidnapping sold out?

Lord the typos in my comment up there, I wish there was an edit option!

Back to poster news: I wish somehow there was a way once you added it to your cart it was assured as yours, so people wouldn't get the disappointment of getting through the entire process only to have it die out at the end.

To those that want them to print more later that are unsigned/unnumbered, that would appear to be a big no no, as the DCAAPB site says - "Once this limited edition print has sold out, they will never be printed again."

Sorry to those that did not get this, somebody is always going to miss out.

But I guess that's part of the fun (and frustration) - trying to get it.

i am disappointed with this reveal.
i am obsessed and i am fast. i wouldn't have missed it if it wasn't for technical difficulties. i dealt with the lag like anyone else. i got all the way to the "complete order" button. then a critical error and it was sold out.
powers, please fix it for next time.

Attorney Greg, thanks for the reminder with that quote from the poster site. I don't think they should sell any more; these are limited, very special posters...that's why everyone is all Golem up in here about them.

...PRECIOUS

Personally, I prefer the way it is now vs the in your cart idea being tossed around. Disappointment is disappointment whether its at the buy now button or later in the "transaction". Plus, if it was under the cart method, it could be "sold out" even faster (but not really if someone changed their mind, or didn't complete the transaction for any reason; then one could magically come back into play) but with no definate finality.

Just my 2 cents.

The same thing happened to me, on my iPhone, at the reveal, as happened to InternetToughGuy and others.

Here are my posts from the other thread:

I made it to Super 7 to have a good time chatting with the clerks and fellow LOST fans (some of whom drove an hour...). Refreshed the URL a zillion times. Went through the process of logging in (I had previously bought Love Triangle). My fatal mistake, I guess, was one mis-entered password. I got all the way to the final purchase button and then blammo! 404 error. Aaaargh!!

Anyway, at least I didn't leave empty-handed... The iPhone skin is cool, the MacBook skin is going up on my wall, and (aside from the nifty swag bag they gave out, with a little notebook and a "Ghost Land" "Blowfish" figurine in a metal box), I spent the $50 I would have spent on the poster on two excellent shirts from Super7. And, perhaps most uniquely, I got a LOST fan button from jopinionated! Thanks for bringing those!

Definitely worth the trip across the Bay.

Upon further reflection: Who knew it was going to take half an hour, and then sell out in, yes, it had to be less than a minute? It was insane; I thought I had a chance, but no.

Of course, I figured in advance that being at the reveal meant giving up a little bit of likelihood of getting a poster. Mainly because I was on my iPhone on 3G, not wireless, which slowed me down a little bit. And, as I mentioned, the password flub. I might have gotten in right before the 404, had I gotten it right the first time.

But (again) it was well worth it, because instead of just not having a poster, I don't have a poster but I have all that other cool stuff and a good experience.

The store staff members were really nice; they personally understood the fanboy/fangirl phenomenon, being fanboys themselves. I did mention to them that I thought it was sort of unfair that TPTB don't open the site up to purchase at the exact moment of the URL reveal (and they actually said they could pass that feedback on to TPTB).

I understand that it's also a sense of fairness that is the reason to let the URL spread around before opening it to purchase, but that just gives the advantage to people who can write scripts and have the fanciest setups. And those are the ones (IMHO) who are least likely to be actual fans and more likely to sell the posters on eBay.

I'll keep trying with little hope of getting one... and in any case it's a decent way to pass the time before LOST comes back...!

@Organic - thanks. It's not like everyone can own an original Dali (my favorite artist). Part of the coolness (if you will) is the limited nature of a signed limited print.

Its not like their offering us mass produced posters at Walmart (although, for those that are interested, I would presume they exist)

Again, thanks that those that went to the reveal; congrats to those that got the print; sorry to those that didn't; and have fun following along for "Lucky" frame 13

I'm almost 100% positive that the reason we aren't able to log into our GoMerch account pages is because anyone who definitely had a print in their cart would be able to continue to purchase, regardless of whether or not the prints are sold out...

And that's the problem. Conceivably, once an item is in your cart, that item should not be available to someone else who's faster than you.

That's like saying if an old woman had the last bottle of milk in her grocery cart, anyone is welcome to take that milk right out of her cart and run to the checkout counter and buy it... Not fair.

But whatevs... Life goes on.

I'm gonna have a nice healthy cry in the corner...

@organic_herbal - Haha, they are pretty sweet... I'd rather have the Cabin print though.

@organic_herbal - just did! eases the pain a little. Now off to get some actual beer to cry into.

I LOVE this poster. I was hoping they would have an enlarged view available of the actual poster... the detail looks astounding; dare I say the most detailed one I've seen (maybe the Hatch). I love green so it's perfect for my home.

I was not able to be on a computer during the reveal because I was on duty in an area removed from internet access from 3:15-4:00 (EST). I was hoping they'd reveal within 15 minutes...but no, they encourage the relentless F5ing by dropping it at a random time (the buy now button, I mean)...hehe, not upset but it makes it consume you for 35+ minutes each time..gets my blood pressure up.

Anyway, I coaxed my wife into trying it if she was able to break and get on the internet (super rare...I had no expectations). She has never done it or observed the process. I coached her through the ordering process without any visuals to work with, had her write my CC info down.

She happened to be able to get on and successfully got me the poster.

That's a damn good wife!

I am disappointed that I didn't ge in as well. Like so many of you, the site was sooooo slow, then when I did get it, got 404'ed out before I could buy. Oh well.

I am happy of course for all you who did get in on this one. And of course, happy that Zort got a print!

Zort/Congested -- did that fake URL that went up in the chatroom bother you? I saw soon after that you said not to click on it, but by then I had. Any way to find out who that was? That image they used was actually something that was posted as a fan art attempt in the comment leading up to this reveal.

Amazingly enough, in this sea of disappointed people, I actually got a poster - my first! I'd previously passed on a couple of posters and missed some of the ones I really wanted, like Smokey. When all of this began, I quite firmly told myself that I only had the money to buy one, maybe two, and since then I've been basically waiting for a Ben poster. But when I saw this one and really liked it, I decided to just jump on it, figuring I could always trade it later if one I liked better came out.

I'm still a little astounded that I got one at all, TBH. I was order #2260 and got the two emails, but reading through the above I can't believe I got through at all. I forgot at the login page that you had to click the button rather than hit return, and the page seemed to choke up at a few key points - but somehow it all went through.

For future reference, if anyone affiliated with DCaaPB reads these comments (I know, long shot right) it might be worth investing in a company like Akamai that provides short-term temporary server boost capacity, for example adding extra servers to a site streaming a sports game or something. This is the first time that the site itself seemed to feel the strain, and I can't imagine what it's going to be like in the future.

What a frustrating day for many of you, and a happy one for those that got the poster. I'm just glad I got 3 of the earlier ones before all this craziness started!

Thanks to those who went to Super7 and did a great job keeping us informed!
