LOST Closeup 1140

For a poster that is supposed to be found it is remarkably LOST.

There have been so many pictures flying around that it is almost impossible to compile them into a small space. I'll see if I can collect some together and post some more in the next few days.

Meanwhile we still have a poster to deal with, it seems quite odd posting closeup shots even before it goes on sale, but here we go.

This next image is interesting in that on top of the "T" looks like a letter F

You can see the plane in the distance in this image, we are led to believe that this is important in some way to season 6.

The heiroglyphs here seem to be the same ones that were on the Swan Countdown timer.

This image shows some of the Dharma Symbols and the words at the bottom of the poster that do not appear on the version that appears to be for sale.

These excellent pictures come from PatMC and ReverendMilo

Greetings - home from work and ready to break in my new iMac trying to buy this poster. I agree with Zort's earlier appraisal and I think this print doesn't hold a candle to many of the other prints. I think the Crash captured the same LOST vibe without saying "LOST"- I was hoping for better. I might change my mind though. I also hope we can end this thing on a pleasant note though it always seems to get a bit nasty on the BUY NOW day. Likewise, it tends to be a love-in the day after so maybe it's a wash.

Drama said...

I just rushed back to find it's not on sale until 4AM? good GRIEF.

vabauer said...

Sandman, you're right about the Buy Now tension, and now it's no longer a 30-40 minute wait, it's been indefinite, tensions are running high, but I think as usual everyone will come back here and post niceties and congrats

MK said...

Once again Pat, thank you for that explanation.

TA very nice. Were you able to buy that online? I didn't think you flew to LA from FL.

Ellen B said...

Amy, before I forget -- thanks for the link to the F5 tee. I ordered it!

And today I received my "circle of trust" tee from ABC AND my Linder Gallery book!

Andrew said...

@vabauer 30-40 minute wait? what?

Unknown said...

@patmc, thats a very good analysis.

i was around here last night when someone said jensen said "after 9 tomorrow." i cannot, however, remember who or where. I believe that the pm in the 9pm was added via inference based on the writing in maven's bag. i don't remember that the quote from jensen was after 9pm. i remember thinking it meant possibly after 9am as in after opening for business. but i cannot be sure.

yes, tension is rising. but, there are small annoying idiosyncratic occurrences that have occurred, which can reasonably give rise to suspicion. so, its understandable that some feel that in their gut. i won't judge that at all

i am prepared to not get this print. i am prepared, too, for postergate should something be unearthed later. but i hope for the best.

good luck to everyone today who wants this thing. its a tough ride. but, i KNOW we will laugh one day soon.

MK said...

Well i'm on the east coast, was up all night and still awake when my son got up for school this morning. At that point I was so sick to my stomach I remained awake for 2 more hours. Doubtful the nausea was due to the poster drop but really is all this necessary? I will not be sad to see this end. Just trying to get some memorabilia from Lost shouldn't be stressful, i'm sure many of us have more stressful things going on in our lives.

OK- I'm going home from work now- so expect to find everything over by the time I get there!

Poster Time! Poster Time!
Gee that print looks great.

feel_the_insanity said...

The one thing I could never understand (yes, I'm going to beat this topic into the ground) is, why have such a small run of posters and then do all this advertising? Damon, Carlton, Paul Scheer, Execs, ABC, TV Guide, EW, G1988, the list goes on and on. All of these people advertised the site. If you up the advertising, you've got to up the number of prints. I understand the limited run thing, that makes sense. Anyone else "feeling" me on this?

(I'm grasping for straws here to hold me over till this goes live.)

Kelly said...

OMG Amy Lynn - great find!!!! Definitely made my afternoon - here's hoping for a love connection!!!

MK said...

Wow that Dan Lyderson oil painting for $3500.00 did sell. There's not that much left from what I see, most of the artwork seems to have sold out already.

feel_the_insanity said...

@Amy Lynn. He must be talking about that blonde that was on Milo's stream for a while. She was GORGEOUS. Haha.

DvdBos said...

If i have to say my opinion, i'd have made 500-600 of each poster, maybe litho and not screenprint, maybe at 30-35$.

Martyn said...

Also, anyone who got the poster last night, what are the two dharma logos to the left of the security logo?

Have no intention of trolling through 600 comments to find out! Presume people have discussed the writing too on the bottom left of the poster, but i'll leave that as a surprise, because i'm now a rival for this poster, I want it now, even if it is blatantly LOST. Like it better than the crash too, a lot more too it!

Drama said...

the answer is, you create a rabid fanbase, such as this. Keep supply limited, and you create demand for the product. See Nintendo and the Wii launch, or Apple. An "exclusive" product attracts lots of attention. You might lose out, but you'll have been interacting with the show, so you become emotionally invested.

I called the store and told them what I liked and bought it over the phone. I also bought a tshirt over the phone they have xs and xl left only.

MurghBatwar said...

This is where they are and those that aren't home yet will be there once they arrive. Do some of you really not know about this "we're more Lost fans than the rest of you" not so secret forum, you can see whos in there at any given time.

http://lostforlife.freeforums.org/index.php"

First, most of the L4L people who went to LA are also members of LostARGs, so any information they have would certainly be posted here as well.

Second, as AmyLynn pointed out...we don't even KNOW who got bookmarks.

Third, we've never, ever, ever portrayed ourselves as or claimed to be "more Lost fans than the rest of you". I simply made a "private" forum for me and many of my Lostie friends, some of whom were banned from a previous forum that we were members of. We are choosy with our memberships, yes, but not out of some high-falutin' notion of exclusivity or superiority. We just wanted to keep it relatively small and primarily to the community that some of us had developed on STV.

We're likely not accepting new memberships at the moment, but rest assured that we're not keeping any information to ourselves over there and would never do anything to harm or hinder the Lost community of fans as a whole. We love this show and community as much as you all do and are dying to figure out the damned "when is it?" puzzle that TPTB has given us for tonight (the bookmarks, apparently).

@PatMC, I think you're definitely on to something with Oceanic 815's original landing time. If it's not then, it damn well should be.

Looking through that Gallery1988 post just makes me even sadder most of the pieces seem to have been snapped up. I'd have done a lot to take a shot at No Man Is An Island. Memento Mori, parsecs out of my price range; please litho this one! I love it far more than the actual 16th poster (which I don't think I'll try for).

"Smokey in Disguise" is actually adorable when you see it up close. I don't know how I didn't notice that before. I have previously noted my love for "Ben and Smokey" so I'll just leave that there.

Is it just me or does Ben look kinda messed up in the triptych? It's the only thing that's bugging me about that piece.

The detail on the Taweret statues is amazing. It wasn't until I looked through this site that I realized many of the artists had done extensive fine customization, such as installing watch gears or modifying the statue. AUGH BLANKS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AUGH.

Unknown said...

@Trail Attorneys - Wait...so you could order stuff from the gallery just by calling?!? Man, I wish I knew that before I emailed them to ask if they were going to sell the Locke T-Shirts online. I would have just called.

MurghBatwar said...

illix - i feel the same in relation to the print. Had Memento Mori been the last print i would not sleep until i had one (and i'm in UK)

This 16th print has left me thinking its more like a promo poster than in keeping with the art of the other prints. That said, Tyler Stout is an amazing artist and will still try if i am awake on this side of the pond.

I will confirm that we definitely tried to corral all the bookmarks that were handed out when we were told that we'd have to work together with the bookmarks. Also, as they walked away, we were told there was a hint in one tote! I immediately ran over to mine left on my chair and there it was: "Wed pm P.T." hand written in ink...the P was not written very well. I took the pic that you all saw. Of course, I was excited I happen to get that. We then all clustered around PatMC and gathered all the bookmarks (remembering your number so you can get it back). We kept yelling down the line for anymore bookmarks out there. No reply. So Dennis wrote down all the numbers...two sets of numbers canceled each other out...added and subtracted all we had and came up with the 5:42 pm time. Later someone piped up with the last bookmark that changed it to 11:45PM. We just did the best we could!

TA, thank you. I just called the gallery. They're very helpful.

Regarding the price. Yesterday's sale was a double yes, however the majority of all Stout movie posters if not all are 24x36 and at a $70 value it is reasonable. I paid $200 directly from Tyler himself for a Big Lebowski AP (artist proof). For any Stout 24x36 movie/tv series print I'd gladly pay the $70 for another Stout.

I'm coming down heavily on the side of 11:42. It incorporated all of the numbers 4, 8 (equals 12), 15 (poster revealed), 16 (poster for sale), 23, 42 (11:42)

I'm certain that's the correct time. (though it hasn't stopped me from f5ing.)

Regarding Gallery1988, yes you can call them. You can go to their website, see whats available www.gallery1988.com, go to the LA link and you'll see a link for "Available Art" from the Lost Underground Project, they're phone # is listed there, OR you can email them @ gallery1988@aol.com.

I'm not going to bullied by a 24 year old and I won't be told how to act. Zorts blog is not meant for drama anymore than Darks site was, but I see that doesn't stop certain people from creating it. I'm not into it, nor am I into cliques and secret clubs; i'm not about to start now.

The subject at hand is figuring out what time this poster drops. Attackin me is not the subject at hand. I did not mention any names. How easy it is for you all to sit behind your computers and bully people. Ah yes, the 20 something generation. Lovely.

Gallery1988 told me regarding the Locke shirts that they are taking email requests as they are limited in sizing.

You can email them at gallery1988@aol.com and tell them what you want. It's likely if you're buying a painting, they'll sell you a t-shirt over the phone but the prices on the artwork were a little steep for me.

I'm surprised there is such a lot of discussion regarding the price of the prints. Coming from the comic book world, where such items are now out of fashion, prints like this with such a small edition, would be well over $100. I have two Bob Kane Batman prints that were $150 each in 1989 when the first Batmovie hit, and that was an edition of 1000.

I'm new around here but love the art I've seen. I'm bit by the bug for these, so if anyone wants to help me with this last one or sell any of the others: yingko9 at gmail dot com.

@Patmmc about John's idea about the 10:42pm time. This sounds good and fits in with all comments about after 9pm, and not 11:52 but close. And as this was the time 815was meant to land would fit nicely with this being the ending of things

im guessing the majority of people on here know about how l4l came into being and the drama that preceeded its 'birth' So to start having a go at its founder for whatever reason, wether its cause you have a beef with the creator in person or cause you somehow think they know something there not telling you (which they dont...were all in the same burning raft) is bloody rediculas and extreamly petty. To then go on and say there all a bunch of 20 somethings as if there immature when the person doing the majority of the moaning here is the one whos showing the immaturity is ery sad. Seriosuly people im guessing from the outrage shown by some of you that this is the first time youe ever been exposed to the print/art buying world...and if you think this is bad you should try going for some real art releases and then moan about how you feel hard done by in this arg.

hey, i was thinking, usually the timing of the reveal is tempered between east and west coast US. i know other countries get dinged by the time. and when the reveal was in BA, us had to stay awake till 2am. so, maybe we should be looking for a time that is tolerable to the reasonable person on both the east and west coast, and maybe even barely tolerable over seas, specifically in the UK? i am baddddd at time change stuff.

Hardcore--DOn't try to open the metal. There is a seam several inches down that is taped closed (under the shipping label). Slice through that tape, and the end portion of the cylinder will come right off.

vabauer said...

XXXHCore, I think we're all with you, the tube is very un cooperative, I've had to use pliers to just destroy the heck out of it from all sides, carefully avoiding anything below the cover. Ha! "dad" knows best! Especially dylansdad. Thank you all very much for your poster tube guru guidance. I've been a longtime lurker and rare poster to this site, but I guess I missed any poster tube problems that may have persisted in other threads.

What is up with Kate's hair having blue in it? Maybe that is a tag that means she dies.

Unknown said...

Darn just heard back from them. They said they have a limit to phone and email orders and they have hit it so they can't sell any more that way. That figures.

Unknown said...

Actually I used pliers because I didn't want to wreck the rest of the tube so I can keep the print in it. It wasn't very hard at all. I just took some pliers, grabbed the edge of the metal and pulled up. After about 3 tugs it came up. Not a big deal really...

Just a quick comment on the negativity. I do not post here often, but I follow and I am an active member on other forums. @MK, the post that Mandazoid made with your name on it was literally just a quote of what you said, not a disparaging comment against you. Maybe if you had taken half a second to read it before you snapped at her, you would have realized this and avoided all of the subsequent embarrassment. In my experience, there are many middle aged people who could learn a thing or two and benefit from the wisdom of the 20 somethings. In your case maybe look into some restraint and dignity, something Mandazoid has shown at every turn of this arg and something you have proven that you do not have. Even if you just disregard this post with the same attitude that you have already displayed here, you will be proving my point. So I hope you read this and chill out, stop bashing people and enjoy the arg. I apologize to everyone else here for my negative comments, but I felt I had to say something.

I should have e-mailed them sooner or called at 11am. I would have loved a shirt.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the fun at the Gallery1988 show last night. It was great getting to meet a lot of the wonderful people who post here at LostARGs! (My nametag said “Patty”.) Especially Patmc and ReverendMilo, my lunch budddies, jawapez, TeamJack (Amy), Maven, and Comixguru. A special thanks to Comixguru for the Pinks’ gift certificate! Everyone was so friendly, even though until now I’ve only just lurked here. This has been a memorable experience from the first poster. Thanks to Zort, Maven, Lottery_Ticket, and everyone who worked so hard to keep us up-to-date and informed. I couldn’t have bought my three posters without you! (The Hatch, #252, Rousseau’s Transmission, #242, and “and that’s why my hand was shaking...” aka Jacob’s Cabin, #194 - seems I got faster each time :-) ) I’m still excited about getting to meet the writers and creators of Lost and Daniel Danger. They were all so nice and patient with all of us! Very cool.

There. I’ve officially de-lurked! See, Maven, I did it! Better late than never.

Oh, and good luck to all who want the 16th poster!

Unknown said...

sooo, just wondering, anyone know yet what "15 Will be lost, the 16th Will be found" was ever suppose to mean?

Trial Attorneys said...

Ok. I am putting this out there. As a "Thank You" to Zort for giving us hours of free, enjoyable time and Zort putting in hours/days of his valuable time, I would like to purchase Zort a copy of the Transmission. I will match every dollar contributed. If interested, please let me know and we can all go in together and buy it. I know it's not much of a surprise because its out here as a post, but it is the gesture that counts and I think we all owe a great deal of gratitude for his amazing contribution to the community. My email is frazierfirm@gmail.com or james.frazier@frazierfirm.com - contact me and I'll give you the information to make this happen.

Katie, did you just ask about the tshirt?

kiwilostie said...

Im in TA.

Unknown said...

I contacted g1988 via email in regards to grabbing a shirt, and it seems as though they have hit the online order quota :( I shoulda emailed them last night!

Mike Melvin said...

Hmm... just called G88 and they said the Locke shirts are only available for walk-ins, then called me ma'am :( I sent them an email too so hopefully that gets me somewhere. Wish I could've been there! I realize this is a stretch, but if anyone can get or has an extra XL, I'd love to pay you for it. Good luck with the F5'ing.

Just Thinking said...

I got the same email, that they are not selling anymore by phone or email- only walk in. Shirts I mean.

Unknown said...

oh also in regards to the t-shirts, they did say that they had some left in the gallery, but were only available for purchase at the store itself (walk-in)

Ginger said...

Damn! That's a bummer. I havn't received an email back but I guess I'll be getting the same "we hit our limit" email:( Boo Hoo...

Zort70 said...

TA - please I'm not in it for the freebies, I'd rather any money raised went to charity rather than to a flipper of some sort.

Trial Attorneys said...

I know. That is more than evident. What you've done is drive my wife nuts and that's priceless. ;-) I'm not looking to make a flipper any money - I am saying that I'd like to honor your contribution. Plus, it's kind of out of your hands now - I put it out there - we'll see if anyone wants to contribute!

james said...

i have 12 tyler stout prints in my collection, and i definitely need to add this one!

Ellen B said...

Time to eat dinner. I'll be back. :)

Unknown said...

can someone please tell me which dharma logo is the sixth one ont he bottom of the print, next to the flame?

Martyn said...

@TA...

I'll contribute and add the same amount to a charity, to ying yang it!

LotteryTicket said...

Hey guys- A friend of mine attended the show last night, and he claims there was *another* bookmark, which hasn't been posted anywhere.

Why, I don't know. Got pics of it on my blog.

Unknown said...

I don't see anything but jerk chicken.

Professor Imagine said...

What charity? Walt's college fund? Richard's plastic surgery bills? How about the Daniel Farraday Memorial Theoretic Physics Scholarship!

Ellen said...

The artwork is just awesome! (drooling!)
xxoo

@Smoo42: I'm so proud of you for posting! See it's not so hard! Glad to have met you (and later on your husband)! It was a wonderful experience...more than I could ever have hoped for. Hope you had an uneventful trip home! And hope to see you here again!

I think a Polar Bear sanctuary is fitting

Professor Imagine said...

Desmond Hume for President Campaign?

Professor Imagine said...

specifically earmarked for the dude who has to clean the polar bear poop.

Unknown said...

@Rachelskid. The sixth from the left is for the Dharma school. It's an apple on a stack of books.

Ginger said...

Desmond for President?! We need to know his criminal record 1st. Of course I think that disqualifies him. He probably wasn't born in the US either ;)

Unknown said...

@Smoo42, thank you very much for responding.

reAnimated said...

@Racehlskid, Dharma School Staff Logo

Martyn said...

True Zort!

I will donate towards a Transmission print and I will adopt a Polar Bear for a year

That fair enough Zort?

maven said...

Smoo42: LOL...you beat me to the answer about the Dharma logo for Rachelskid! Good job!

oruga_xxx said...

No news yet about the time release???

:(((((

This ARG is going to kill us...

Ginger said...

I asked earlier, but never read an answer... What scene is being represented above Richard's head? Please someone help me w/this. I think it looks like season 5 maybe Locke & Ben walking on the beach to kill Jacob???

Professor Imagine said...

well... of course he's Scottish, but that's okay by me. Besides, being born in the US isn't a criteria anymore is it?

(surely, I jest, before the politics start flying). J/K! J/K! :D

Trial Attorneys said...

I've already received about a half dozen emails from those interested in contributing to purchase "The Transmission" for Zort. Please email me if interested and what you are willing to contribute. Remember, I will match all contributions. Also, I will send everyone the paypal information to make the contribution once we have enough contributers. If we don't get enough, I won't send out the info, that way we don't have to do a bunch of refunds. james.frazier@frazierfirm.com or frazierfirm@gmail.com

@Maven: Thanks! This could be addicting. My husband was amused by our enthusiasm and enjoyed meeting everyone, too. Actually, that's him in the picture of the crowd at Gallery1988 in the previous post. (The one with the white hair!) Got home ok. Exhausted, but happy!

dylansdad said...

I assumed that over Richard's head was out first glimpse of the tail section survivors, when Jin ran out onto the beach shouting "Udders!!!"

Unknown said...

@Rachelskid: You're welcome!
@Maven: Just trying to help. :)

Ginger said...

Ya Professor, I think they are trying to change that so the Governator can run right?

Zort70 said...

Martyn - Ok by me about the polar bears, the other thing is a minor triffle in comparison :-)

Right I'm off to get a few hours shut eye, back later.

Unknown said...

@ginger: i cannot make that out very clearly. I am assuming that Richard is the guy int he right hand corner with back to us? above that is so small, i have not seen a blow up of that. it looks odd though...

Ginger said...

dylansdad - "udders" cracks me up! I'll have to see a close up to get that I guess. Thanks for replying.

Ginger said...

Rachelskid - I am assuming that is supposed to be Richard from other comments I've read. IMHO it almost looks like a cross between Richard & Ben. I think they both carried man bags like that ;)

thorsten said...

Congrats to Christopher Lee!

maven said...

@Ginger: If you're asking about the figure with his back to us on the lower right....I'm not so sure it's Richard....The figure is wearing the satchel that Ben always has...my first thought was it was Ben. And the figures over his head are Others (I believe one is Mr. Friendly). At least that's my interpretation looking at the actual print in person.

Got behind again and finally caught up again. lol

It's been great hanging out with the people I already knew and nice to meet all the new people that came here once this thing got rolling. Been one amazing ride.

Well if it's after 9pm PT I'll be in bed. I don't stay up much past midnight.
Good Luck to everyone who tries for this one.

Ginger said...

I guess I can see that big buy as Mr. Eko w/his stick coming down the beach. Thanks again!

Now, next question, is that a grave above that scene? Looks like a stick cross stuck in a pile of rocks?

Tess315 said...

well I thought I was caught up. After I posted that I found out I'm still way behind. lol

Now I'm getting ready to go out and that won't help. :)

Martyn said...

I'm off to bed guys, just calculated how much Hawaii is going to cost me so i'm bailing on this poster.

Good luck to all that want it!

Flippers, hope your computer explodes as soon as you hit buy now!

Goodnight all!!!

Ginger said...

Hey Maven! You probably have the best look at it so I'll go w/you now! See how easily I jump ship from one idea to the next? ;)

Unknown said...

@ginger and Thorsten: funny, cause last night on first impression i did not think that was richard either and i did not think that was a man bag. i thought it was a rifle. i had a suspicion of who that person might be, but i do not want to post here as its spoilery. i am about 99% spoiler free for many months now. but this one spoiler was impossible to get away from, it was in the spin ny video and even doc jensen posted about it without a spoiler tag just the other day. anyway, if you get that, thats who i thought the man in the corner was.

the scene above looks like either eko and charlie building the church, or locke and des (was it?) burying ecko maybe. not sure at all.

Unknown said...

I agree with Maven that it's probably Ben in the bottom corner. (Although, I thought it could be Richard for a second.) That's a group of Others above him and just a cross stuck in some rocks above that. There's so much detail!

Unknown said...

@dylansdad, that a top contender when you post the screen cap like that. good call.

Unknown said...

Ok, nevermind. Dylansdad got it! It is the Tailies. Good job!

maven said...

@Ginger: There is a pile of rocks and a cross there...most likely a nod to all the burials on the island.

Marshall said...

i had this thought earlier today and can't get away from it: could the numbers be used to determine the sale time of this poster? it was revealed on 12 (4+8) / 15, it's the 16th poster (and today's the 16th), so that leaves 12 and 42. 23:42 would be 11:42; of course time zone would need to be considered. what time was figured out by the bookmarks? and what time was Oceanic flight 815 supposed to land? seems like a logical trail to follow...

maven said...

@dylansdad: Yep, definitely could be the Tailies with Eko and Libby. There is a 4th person behind "Libby" that looks smaller, but in the photo you linked to, it just a perspective that makes that person look smaller.

dylansdad said...

I can't believe that they didn't include the scene where Charlie steps on the beehive. Definitely one of the top ten moments on the show so far.
