Thankz, Zort.

Just want to say Viel Glück! to Thorsten for his big opening night.

Zort70 said...

No problem Amy, I'm going to keep posting poster infor while there is still some available.

Amy Lynn said...

Nice McCarthy interview, although, given the choice between Kate and Juliet he picks Kate? *shudder*

Lisa-Maladylis said...

thanks for the new post Zort. Now I'll have to go read it. can't wait for the podcast as well.

ChrisL said...

Thanks Zort.

Amy, I would have agreed a week ago that he showed questionable judgement but there was something about Kate in those 815 scenes in the opener... she looked... well... hot *looks round to check that it really was him that said that*. Still though... Juliet every time.

ChrisL said...

I'm loving the little changing icons in your new name Lisa :-)

Lisa-Maladylis said...

well, Thanks Chris, I'm having a lot of fun with them myself. lolol

Martyn said...

Good luck thorsten.

And it's Kate for me, even when she was damn irritating. She is just ridiculously hot in person. My gf even thought so when she saw her on the red carpet.

Lisa, you received red dwarf yet?

From a female appreciating another female point of view- Kate and Juliet really are both stunning- even when most of the make up is off. I have been annoyed by Kate as well- but thought when she woke up almost falling from the tree and just took a breath and pulled herself up- well- compared to Shannon standing and screaming- she really is something.

Sam G said...

From a female's POV - I've always been a Kate fan. And with it looking more and more like people are having residual memories - how do you decide who you loved and when?

Kate all the way. I liked Juliet to begin with, but found her increasingly cloying and less accessible in S4 and S5. There is an arc to Kate's character and her 'journey' -it's not really fair to sum up her character before we see the end of that arc. This applies to Jack as well - and frustrates me to no end when he is dismissed based on the 'rock bottom' he hit in S4 and is coming out of in S5. I thought Juliet would win me over, but she always did things that alienated me from her as a character (the way she interfered with Sun and Jin, anyone?? I understand why she did it, but it was the way she did it that is an example of what annoyed me).

Patmc said...

Kate or Juliette? For me? Depends.

If it wasn't going to be a long term relationship... Kate. I'm mean, come on... we guys all remember her infamous underwear scene. Yowza!

Long term? Neither. I would pick Rose in a heartbeat! Never gave up believing that Bernard was still alive while he was hanging out with the Tailies... great sense of humor... and threatened to punch Jack in his face if he said "Live together, die alone" again. What's not to love?

Just Thinking said...

So this is OT- hope you don't mind? But I have a trip to LA that has to be put off till Spring and i need to change ticket times. Does anyone know of a good Lost event to book for?

sandman90 said...

Agreed, patmc. Rose it is. LOL!

ChrisL said...

I hear you on Jack Midday, I am absolutely reserving judgement there but I can't support you on Juliet. Despite her attempts to alienate (and I do recognize them) she just IS my kind of girl! Having said that, I couldn't agree more with JT, when Kate came down that tree.... ooof! Although that's from a male appreciating a female POV :-)

ChrisL said...

Oh heck. Now Pat's brought Rose into the equation!

*re-thinks his entire POV with this new information*

Weinbeeezy said...

My Lauren Gregg Ben/Smokey just came in the mail :] hope everyone gets theres! 6/100 yay!

Amy Lynn said...

@JT, I believe the LOST weekend is the 15th-ish. The finale, and the Jay and Jack party, is the 23rd. Of May, of course.

futureself said...

@Zort - Sorry to sidetrack backwards...but any updates forthcoming on Competition 9?

Unknown said...

@Team Jack from prev post re: Twitter: lol and I was like, I should totally follow that person since they're amusing when you were on Lotto' list. Did not know it was you. ;P

@JT: here's the info about the LOST weekend. Like a complete IDIOT I didn't realize until today I'm supposed to be selling at a convention that weekend, I was going to go. :(

Weinbeeezy said...

Tan never released info on his print like he promised us this week :(

ChrisL said...

Weinbeeezy, I half thought he might save it for the weekend...

Just Thinking said...

thx Anne and Amy Lynn. I am looking at Jay and Jacks site- is their party info written anywhere?

futureself said...

Oops-O-Tan-and-Crash-you-missed-expect-the-sale-approaches!

(Even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious)!

Unknown said...

@Futureself...

Is that code for the Crash is going on sale soon? :)

Weinbeeezy said...

ChrisL... I expected an announcement from them around the new episode... Wamp wamp

futureself said...

@ drsluggo - no inside info...the only code you should read into my comment is that I have had two glasses of wine ;)

Cool, Walt's Kidnapping from postersandtoys arrived today. Going to reveal the poster i'm going to keep and admire again!

Looking forward to smoke break arriving though!

I can refer you to my expressobeans.com or Etsy feedback if you have any concerns. Email me - jmaneval@gmail.com

MiddayShadows said...

@ ChrisL -ha , yeah climbing down the tree...yikes...I can think of a few other moments too. And yes, Juliet isn't so bad. As you alluded to, I think it just depends on a persons 'kind of gal.'

@ Martyn and ChrisL...

Sorry , havent had a chance to address the definition of the 'banding'/overlap issue with R.T. It's still excellent, and the following is a minor flaw: The 'banding' being discussed occurs where the mountains overlap in the background. The bottom edge of the layer underneath each(the visible base of each mountain), is combining with the layer(or visible summit of each mountain) on top to create an outline or 'banding,' visible in the area of each of the tree lines of the print. This effect wasnt intentional. It was meant to be a 'clean' separation, as with the original jpg displayed on DCaaPB (nevermind the 'original' colours for a moment-separate issue). It was a screening issue, that IMO should have been corrected at a test print stage. The individual screened layers should have have run full bleed to the bottom of every layer. As inefficient as that seems, it would have avoided visible overlap lines as they are now.
I hesitate to draw attention to it. But most people dont seem to notice - or actually prefer it as is. As I said, I think it still looks great. I do think it could have been a notch more killer though. And I still voted it my second fav poster :)

...also , my appreciation for it should be evident in my use of it as my avatar... :-)

Also, I do wish he was asked about this subject in the interview. Then again , he could be reluctant to talk about it for fear of being publicly critical of the printer; in this case D&L , who continue to print certain projects for him.

Martyn said...

ahhhhhhhhh!!!

I now see what you mean! I thought it was a pretty neat thing to have. Thanks for the detailed description Midday!

RT really grew on me. Remember first seeing it and thinking, thank god it's not a poster I want, as I was ont he train at the time. Also I was begining to wonder why dan mccarthy was being so hyped up (still believe RT is weak comapred to his other work, homeward bound for example) But over the last few months, i've grown to liking it. May try and obtain one, once the hype has died down a little.

Speaking of which, I had no takers on my spare WK so going to list it on EB and eBay tomorrow.

Goodnight folks and have a good day!

ChrisL said...

@Martyn, there is a certain irony in you putting a WK on eBay! Not to mention hilarity :-) Good luck.

Midday, thanks for the banding insight. I realise now that I had seen it but it just didn't bother me. Picking it up from Framers mid week and am very excited about that.

Patmc said...

Some of you may remember that a week or so ago, I posted some pictures of the Ben print that I received from Todd Slater. It did not have a number on it... so I emailed Todd to see if he had a little more information about the print that I had received. I just got his reply back, and thought you all might be interested in his reply.

Here are the links to the pictures I took of the bottom of my Ben print... followed by Todd's response:

http://twitpic.com/103vm8
http://twitpic.com/103vj5

-------------
A few people got AP's which are artist proofs. They are typically worth a little more. Originally I did not intend to send anyone an AP but while packing the tubes I noticed several surface scratches so I decided to replace those already numbered copies with mint APs. Maybe 5-7 APs went out in all.

The run of an AP of a poster should not exceed 15% of the total run. There's much less then that on this print though.

-Todd.
-------------

Wow! I guess I really did hit the Lost jackpot on this one! It may be worth more money... but that means nothing at all to me. Ben is going on my wall... and no place else! :-)

ChrisL said...

Hey Pat... Congrats!

That leaves us with an interesting scenario though. There are 5-7 numbered / 300 Ben prints that have surface marks and are sat somewhere (or destroyed?)

Wonder who else received the AP's. None on eBay that I've noticed so that's good.

Weinbeeezy said...

With the slowdown of traffic on here now.. comparabily to the thousands of comments on TLC, i'm hoping with the final poster drops that we should all get one :]

and if not, i am open to anyone that wants to help me try and get one :]

Zort70 said...

Hi all, I've just received a very special gift from Dennis.

When was at the Gallery 1988 show he managed to get me one of the Tyler Stout posters they were giving away, but even better it is also signed by Gregg Nations, Damon, Carlton, and Bryan Burke.

A huge thankyou to Dennis for getting this, apparently it was the last one in the show that Gregg Nations agreed to give to Dennis for me.

Unknown said...

Wow. Congrats Zort!

ChrisL said...

Zort, that is a spectacular gift from Dennis. And I can't think of anyone more deserving :-)

Drama said...

hiya everyone! back from self imposed exile.
WK arrived today, in time for me to season premiere myself, so it's fully a LOST day! Smoke Break is still in international mail though.

As for the premiere, are we talking about it yet?

IWish said...

Gifts are great...when totally unexpected it means so much more, doesn't it? What a thoughtful gesture on Dennis' part...great gift, Zort, one that will be cherished, I'm sure.
:)

Just Thinking said...

Nice on your AP Patmac.

Very glad you got a special poster Zort. Only fitting I'd say.

I noticed the "banding" on RT also when I first saw it, but I know nothing of printing, so couldn't name it. It was obviously some kind of overlap. Didn't bother me though, and I actually like the colors better than the online view, so that was OK.

Ben- there have been over 900 posts over on TLC about LA X with lots folks from here contributing. I think this thread may wind down more as the season goes on. Or maybe it will be a haven for the UKers seeing the show later!

Martyn said...

@ChrisL...

Yeah, is kind of funny really. Wish I didn't get so impatient in some ways but, then again, how was I supposed to know that mitch and drew would do what they did? I put the re-sell WK in the dark and put ultra bright LEDs over it. OMG I love this poster!

Congrats Zort, that's an amazing friend you've got there and an awesome poster!

And congrats Patmc on the AP, but as you said, makes no difference as long as it can still hang on your wall!

Currently nursing what appears to be food poisoning so to cheer me up, 3 of the 4 LOST toys I bought arrived, now that's fast service! And bioshock 2 came too. So ying yang really!

Lisa-Maladylis said...

Oh Yuck Martyn about the food poisoning. I've had that a couple of times and it's no fun at all. Hope it goes away fast for you. I still have Joey's cold that he so lovingly passed to me. He does love to share :-) so I'll work in my metal shop and play with my torch I think lol I'll try not to burn any fingers off

Amy Lynn said...

Pat, that's cool about the AP, and super nice that you didn't get a scratched one :)

Zort, congrats on the poster. !Sweet!

Zort70 said...

Sorry to hear of the food poisoning Martyn, it's never nice.

Right the next podcast is nearly locked and loaded and will be ready at around 5pm EST today.

Ben - any episode that is aired is fair game, feel free to discuss, but you may get more people talking at TheLOSTCommunity.blogspot.com

Zort70 said...

Ok, just been over there and seen that you have found your way already.

capostar said...

well it looks like the person who received the deer hunter bonus print is selling both now.

Drama said...

Martyn... I'm confused - what did Mitch and Drew do? email if necessary.

I'm SO happy that the episodes aren't being discussed here, actually. I'm happy to keep chatter over at the Lost Community.

Martyn said...

Thanks guys, seems to of quelled down now, thankfully, just pains every now and again.

Ben, sent you the answer via twitter.

@Zort...

My head is messed up dealing with time zones, so is that 8pm GMT?

Amy Lynn said...

@Martyn, 10pm GMT. :) Hope you're better soon!

Team Jack said...

@Anne, lol you just now figured out it was me? On the trip, me and Latha talked about how we wished you'd gone to HI as well.

Team Kate all the way!! Her strength has always made her my favorite. The wishy washy stuff between Jack and Sawyer did get a bit annoying at times, but it is understandable. I mean, I am Team Jack but Sawyer is so damn charming and HAWT, really, how could you not be tempted to go darkside occasionally. ;p And for the most part, when it counted she had Jack's back. And that's what matters in my opinion.

As for Juliet, I can't say I like any of the Others and I know I strongly disliked her from the beginning. She fell too much under the "I'm doing whatever I have to do to get what I want" theme that Ben, Locke, etc. seem to follow. Actually that's why I dislike the Others as well. ANYTHING for the island, no matter the cost. That just never sits well with me. Of course when Juliet finally stopped going after other women's men and took up with Sawyer, then I actually liked her. She clearly was a good influence on him and although it was short, I am glad that they both had someone who deeply loved them. The scene between them in the Incident when Sawyer yells at her "Don't you leave me!" almost made me cry more than when Sun screamed for Jin on the helicopter. So hard to watch.

As for Rose, there are times (like part 1 of LA X) where I love her and Bernard together, but most of the time I feel sorry for him. I feel like she not only doesn't treat him with respect a lot of the time, but that she's downright mean to him at times. Yes, she showed her love and devotion in not giving up till the tailies met the Losties again but all he gets is nagged at most of the time or put down for "stupid" ideas. She's just too hard on him imho. Here's a man who loves her to no end and was willing to spend whatever time she had left together, taking care of her. That's a pretty amazing guy in my book.

P.S. If Tan drops, someone let me know!! lol I have a midterm to study for so I'm heading to Starbucks.

RE: The Lost Weekend in LA in May. I don't think I’m going at this point as I can't justify the expense for what you get (or don't rather), but I may change my mind since it's local. Just seems like $130 is to be around the supporting actors, etc. I’ve been to other events, for example Creation’s WAY overpriced conventions w/parties, breakfasts where you “mingle” with supporting characters from the show. It’s usually a couple hundred dollars more but you get to attend panels for several days & get autos/photo ops from most stars attending. On the other end of the spectrum the BSG (Battlestar) auction was FREE. Preview day allowed you to take pics of everything (I was allowed in Starbuck’s viper for a pic!) and I met two of the cast and got pics/autos. Oh and there was a panel as well. So maybe because of stuff like that and Comic Con, etc. I’m a bit jaded when it comes to my money and what I get. I also attended Disney’s D23 and would easily have spent hundreds more for what I got. If anyone has gone before to this party and loved their experience, let me know. I may change my mind.

Here's the official info I received from an organizer:
"The Friday night party is a bit of a "meet and greet" gathering for the fans to meet each other, often for the first time. We mingle, play games and generally get to know each other. There will be light snacks provided and a cash bar. The exact times for this event have not been set yet because there are other factors that still need to be worked out. In the past, this event has lasted from 7p.m. to around 10 or 11 p.m.

The Saturday night party is a bit more involved. The main event is our charity auction. We have had autographed items, signed character figures and signed scripts relating to LOST in addition to other items from the Bad Robot team. We also invite members of the cast and crew to mingle with the fans in a cocktail party setting. A variety of hors d'oeuvres and appetizers will be served along with a cash bar.

The Sunday breakfast is an optional item. It serves as a last gathering of newly made friends. It gives people another chance to hang out and say their good byes.

The other events mentioned are fan led and often have minimal costs associated with them. For example, touring the Kodak theater, or fan group luncheon for a favorite writer, or a trip to Disneyland. None of these events are sponsored by the Lost Weekend Party. There are just groups of fans from various sites who want to plan other things to do separate from the main events.

Your ticket cost includes both parties, the auction admission and the opportunity to mingle with any VIPs who may attend. While the price may seem steep, consider that it is also paying for the location of the party. The location is very important in that cast and crew are not going to be inclined to attend a party held at Denny's. In addition to the parties, we also provide a "hospitality" area to hang out with the other fans outside of the parties. We make this area available to everyone for a few hours on Friday, before and after the party as well as a few hours before and after the Saturday party.

The ticket does not cover the bar, bids on the auction items or meals. It also does not cover the cost of your hotel room for the weekend.

RE VOLUNTEERING:
Volunteering is only for those who have bought a ticket. The jobs range from decorating, to manning the auction tables, to assisting with the guests, to taking down decorations, to handing out name tags. Just generally simple stuff that needs done. Bob doesn't require all of your time, just a few hours before or after the events. There are usually quite a few volunteers, so the jobs go fast and you are done before you know it. You can request certain times to be available and Bob is really good about making sure no one gets stuck in one place and missing the fun."

Amy Lynn said...

@Team Jack... interesting. I think it would be more fun if it were the weekend of the finale, but I understand they had to pick a date just on guesswork.

Team Jack said...

Amy you bring up an interesting point I forgot! The Battlestar Galactica auction I mentioned was the second one. The first had been in January and had a party to coincide with the premiere of that last season. That party was FREE. You just had to know or post on a certain site and you got it. Several cast members including major ones showed up to hang out. THAT would have been worth the $ but again, it was totally free. :)

Please note everyone that you will be paying for your food and drink as they only cover appetizers for the Sat (and possibly Fri) parties.

Also, I posted the volunteer info at the bottom, because normally many panels, conventions, parties, etc. that I've attended ask for volunteers and in return you get either free admission or reduced admission or food, etc. I asked about this because I considered just volunteering my time instead of spending the $. I was shocked to see that you had to pay FULL admission like everyone else and then were assigned times and would miss events. Definitely not the norm for what I'm use to in these types of events.

Amy Lynn said...

Yeah, um, that sucks.

Martyn said...

Thanks amy, my head is messed up at the moment.

Team Jack said...

Gah, sorry Martyn, meant to comment on my first post to you... Hope you are feeling better soon. Here's a hug from the Lamp Post station to make you feel better. Though I suspect the lovely Eleanor is taking mighty fine care of you. ;)

Also forgot to post my comments on the Transmission print. Always thought the color scheme was lovely but looking at it today after having been right there... Must own it! It just makes me feel like I'm in fantasy land looking at it now. It's eerie.

Also, dunno if this was covered in another thread or not but I cannot express enough thanks to Ryan. He was just awesome! Does everyone know he started with a 120 locations tour and they made him cut it down to 60!! Lol He helped many of us on several occasions with finding locations. Heck we got lost (ha, ha) and called him to help find our way to Paradise Park. Can't say enough nice things about that man. I love that it makes him happy to help us find these spots that make us happy. Did that make sense? Anyways, he made the trip really amazing and it was a true pleasure to meet him. :)

Unknown said...

@Marytn: feel better! Just rest and stay hydrated, I guess.

@Team Jack yeah sometimes I'm slow XD; Believe me, I wish I went too - if nothing else I wouldn't have been home to be in a car accident :P Universe trying to course-correct?

Universe decided for me on the Lost Weekend, I guess I can't cancel out of trying to make money in order to spend it. :( I haven't been able to find the "Jay and Jack" party info.

And hey, how do we know they don't like Denny's? ;)

RE: BSG, their cast seems to be exceptionally interested in fan stuff. They come unbidden (but not unwanted) to the parties at Dragon*Con. Not to be down on other cast/crew, just they seem unusually friendly.

Amy Lynn said...

@Anne, Jay and Jack's party is the weekend after, for the finale itself.

Did this poster ever go on a second sale? It was the only one I really wanted, but never heard as much press about (relative to The Crash and the final poster).
