Competition 9 - Winners 196

Of course we know the real winner is the Haiti Relief fund that so many of you generously donated to. Thankyou for sticking with us and re-donating to the second charity fund, the money raised is going to be well used by Partners in Health. You can still donate to the fund even though the competition has closed by clicking on the PiH logo to the left.

Although the amound that we received in re-donations was slightly lower than the first time we collected, we have had a very generous offer to top up this amount to match what was originally promised.

So that just leaves the matter of the winners and the prizes, we did have a few more prizes donated so there are more than just the original 4 winners. The names were randomly drawn from a list of just under 925 chances to win from the 174 people who entered the competition.

Top 5 Winners

The Kharma Initiative

ObFuSc8

mrlocke8

Trial Attorneys

Mandazoid

Bonus prize winners

ObFuSc8

KDP84

Patrick

Prizes - The reason that we haven't said who won what yet is because we have offered the prize winners a chance to choose which prize they wish to win, and if there is more than one person that wants a prize another random draw for that prize will take place.

The final list of prizes (which will be updated later with their respective winners) is -

Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear Giclee print, number 27 of 30

The Kharma Initiative

A McFarlane Jack figure plus as a bonus an Olly Moss Locke's secret t-shirt.

mrlocke8
#10 of 10 Limited Edition Signed Prints, Size: 2.5" x 3.5", Artist: Geri Centonze.

Trial Attorneys
An Olly Moss Locke's Secret poster, this is one of the additional 50 posters that were sold by Olly and has a number in the range 50 - 100

Mandazoid
Because we got back up to our original total a 5th main prize was added, a Daniel Danger Jacob's Cabin poster.

ObFuSc8
Bonus Prizes
A copy of The Exit poster by Justin Sena, this is part of Justin's own mini LOST inspired poster series and can be viewed and purchased at imgoingsomewherecold.com

KDP84
Two more Olly Moss Locke's Secret T-Shirts go to two winners.

Thanks Zort and Dennis and everyone here who donated.

Good for you all -I'm sure having your names on the list will bring a smile!

Patmc- no green pills for you! Very interesting- we will just have to see how it all adds up.

Wow...such an exciting day for the winners. Yea for you!! I can't wait to see what items all of you won...I will celebrate with you. Isn't it great that, even though not everyone could win,the donations are going to such a good cause? Yes indeed, that's a good feeling. A win-win situation.

Rorschach said...

Congrats to all the winners. Bummed I didn't win, but I only entered the one time (had a bad experience with paypal like a decade ago and will never use it again); more bummed when I saw that Jacob's Cabin got added on. If the winner of Jacob's Cabin wants to talk, I would like to have an opportunity to acquire that print.

So is this the official end to LOSTargs? I wish I would have known about this place years ago. Fingers crossed for a second poster series after the finale!

Unknown said...

Congrats to the winners. :)

And if, by any chance, whoever ends up with that LS poster wants it to have a happy SoCal home, I'm listening. Man, I want that poster. *grin*

Seriously, congrats to everyone and I'm glad the people here were so generous.

Hi LOSTargers!

I've been quite preoccupied, and haven't been able to post in the past week...but I just wanted to pop in and say congrats first and foremost to this really outstanding community for stepping up with the donations for the second time.

I've been endlessly impressed with this little corner of the internet. I myself, have been a recent recipient of generosity from this group (you know who you are ;) ), having finally received a much desired Locke's Secret Shirt of my own. Way to go everyone. I honestly hope this little community stays around in some way shape or form, beyond May 23rd.

Last but not least, congrats to the winners of the draw! You lucky ducks!

Ray said...

Danger's got a new post on his site, but no mention of JC. However, he ends his note saying he's going to start going through his emails, so if anyone asked him about it you might get a response soon.

Justin said...

Congrats everyone that won! :)

It's awesome the way everyone has come together to have a good time, support a good cause, and help each other out with their generosity. It's been great getting to know all of you and you all truly feel like an extended family to me! I'm glad to have been here to witness it.

Hopefully they'll do a final ARG when the show ends!

Congrats to the winners and to Zort & Dennis on soon being able to match the original donations. And to @middayshadows on your Locke shirt (you lucky duck!)

Patmc said...

Hey all. I just got an email from Ebay. Apparently the winner (not me) of one of The Crash posters that I bid on, didn't come up with the money... and the seller offered it to me as I was one of the runner up bids. I've already purchased a Crash from a different seller... but figured I would at least see if anyone here wants a Crash for what he's asking for it. If you want to see the item, just go to Ebay, and search for item #: 140386166220

It's NOT cheap... but it is guaranteed. He's offering it for $780, plus $11.99 shipping. If anyone is interested, I would need to let him know before 4pm tomorrow (2/25/10).

If there is any interest, please let me know as soon as you can. I'll be checking here for a few more hours, then all day tomorrow.

Sorry... I hope everyone here doesn't think this is spam. I've got NO financial interest here... I just wanted to let everyone know, in case someone was like me, and REALLY wanted a Crash

Congrats again to the Contest 9 winners!

Well, my philosophy of pretending I didn't care failed as I was up at 2am to check I I got an email, lol.

Mega congrats to all the winners!!! I have a feeling I know which prize a certain person will go for but the rest will probably go for the same.

I'm in favour of any reason to keep this 21st century family together. Could we not just create our own arg? Or redo TLE, I'm sure some people didn't experience that first time round.

Seems like it's one guy and a computer sending them one by one.

Retro!

Wonder if they are doing it in order of who graduated first? Probably took this long to send the e-mail because it took so long for them to sign the 108 diplomas but I would of thought they signed them yonks ago. Although I hope they didn't. Something cool about them actually seeing my name and saying it while they signed it.

To hell with it, that's what they did do!!!

Ok, quite obviously need sleep so catch up with all tomorrow!

I've gotten my email as well.

Didn't check the time but will go do so in a second.

I might suggest, Amy Lynn, that you delete your post with the actual email address. Would suck a great deal if someone decided to troll and spammed it.

XXXHardcore said...

@Ray I appreciate the encouragement! I am "QuantumLeap" and wasi n the 3rd column, but since ObFuSc8 got hers, who appeared after me on the website list, had me concerned! But, I was hoping for some random validation... like yours. Here is to a hopeful late tonight/tomorrow!

Oh, and yeah I allowed them to use my real name. Will be sort of interesting to see what the ratio of that is, if any.

What a journey it has been. Congrats to all winners and congrats to all those who donated... in a sense we're all winners when it comes to making a meaningful impact for those so in need. Thanks Zort & Dennis for pulling it together.

And to the LU Class of 2010.. your hard work and dedicated studies have paid off. Time to take the knowledge gained and help the rest of us solve the mysteries of LOST.

And speaking of mysteries, I too received an email today - not LU related. If you want to play along and follow this art related journey (I've already dropped a hint in an earlier post), I leave you this next clue RR - 620592745 - AR.

And last but not least, where oh where has Thorsten, our most artistic contributor been these days?

Amy Lynn said...

@JPL... Thorsten is recovering from some surgery... I'm sure he would appreciate everyone's good wishes.

John LaHair said...

@Martyn and Ray - the number is a tracking number. Now you have to find out where it's being tracked from... with that and the other pic that was posted... it should become clearer what I'm waiting for. Although the final result is still to be seen.

Right now it's a one-shot deal, but I'd be happy to share how I went about getting the inner- monster in me to be much happier hopefully next week. You should be able to do the same.

A clue or two still to be posted that will make my last few posts make more sense over the weeekend.

Don't want to wait? jlahar at yahoo dot com. Will respond tonight. :)

Hey ARGpeeps!

Just stopping in to say hi!

Thorsten, I didn't realize you had surgery, but am happy to hear you're doing well neither infected nor claimed for alas we don't have any special ash or hand-crank electric torturing devices at hand to diagnose you if you were.

We suddenly got more bad news about another family member in India, so trying to figure who's best to get there and running on little sleep right now.

I'm guessing Obfusc8 got the Jacob's Cabin to give to ME because she's LOVELY. Right? (a man can dream)

In other news... I need to check Pat's theory after watching the Lighthouse. Whose name was at 108? I must know!

Also, prints are like busses. You have none, then two come along at once. Due to some ebay related weirdness, I have a second Walt's Kidnapping. it's up on Feebay for £130 (to cover initial costs, mainly) if anyone is interested.

OK... off to check out Pat's theory!

Martyn said...

Congrats to all the prize winners!

And speedy recovery to Thorsten!

Isn't it a warning, the possibility but now waves have been seen? California is also in alert.

IWish said...

Yeah, Sam. I think it's a warning but they're on the highest alert. Yikes! :( Low level warnings for CA coast.

Sam G said...

LOST films on the North Shore and it looks like it's the big island Hawaii that will be facing the first waves.
http://www.prh.noaa.gov/ptwc/images/hawaii_map.jpg and it may act as a breaker for the waves, only time will tell.

Unknown said...

There isn't anything higher than a warning ^^; They know the wave is coming, but are waiting on data from ocean buoys to further calculate possible height. Regardless it's not just like floodwaters to that height, it hits with a lot of force.

Have some friends in HI, getting periodic Tweets from them . . . it really does seem different, for all our best intentions, when it's people you know! Normal human reaction I guess.

IWish said...

They say the waves could "wrap around" the island. I wonder if that makes it more or less dangerous. Anyone know...? I know a couple of guys that are in HI...very worrisome.

IWish said...

Me again...weather channel is on. Wow...I didn't realize the Chile earthquake was so severe. Strongest in recorded history world-wide? Did I hear that correctly?

Amy Lynn said...

@seaque, probably not. The Thailand quake/tsunami was a 9.3, at least.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

Jorge and Beth left a message that they are moved to higher ground now. I can't believe that they are just putting the tourists in the higher floors of the hotels so as to not cause grid lock on the roads.

IWish said...

Ah...okay Amy Lynn. I wasn't sure.

Sam G said...

Luckily, Hawaii is a high island and it goes up pretty quickly from the beach, especially the North shore. I drove back from Turtle Bay last Sunday and took the highway that cuts back through the middle of the Island. It only took a couple of minutes to get up pretty high.

Unknown said...

The quake in Chile tied for fifth-strongest in history (not sure what it tied with). Remember the scale is uhh - not exponential, the other kind of increase. Small difference = big difference. Chile quake many times more violent than Haiti, even though it doesn't seem like it.

The concern about the islands is that the waves will wrap around them, and then create a complex propagation in between; so even though the tsunami itself will only take about 30 min to hit, the unusual action will play out over several hours.

My friend in HI has gone shopping - for fresh ginger? o_O; So at least we know SOME people aren't freaking out XD;

But it really does have potential to be quite bad. Some of the inundation in the last major tsunami was around 6ft too.

Keeping fingers crossed for everyone potentially in it's path.

Saw Tottery Ticket at the Paley Festival.

Just got back home. It was very cool. Damon, Carlton, Terry O'Quinn, Michael Emerson, Nestor Carbonell, Zuleikha Robinson, Eddie Kitis, Adam Horowitz & Elizabeth Sarnoff were there on stage but several of the other writers and production people were in the audience. There will be spoilers coming out of this. We saw a small snip from this weeks show, that isn't one of the sneak peeks we've seen. Paul Scheer was the moderator. I think it's the most people that have ever attended a Paley event, 1900 people all loving LOST.

There was lots of laughing but a very sincere appreciation of the magic this show created, a humbleness on Damon and Carlton's part. The actors are aware how special this show is, as do Damon and Carlton and the writers.

I really think, every extra thing that LOST gives us is a thank you from them. The podcasts, the Untangled, the ARG's are all a Thank You to the fans.

I hope some of the stories that were told make it to youtube - only the people that told the stories can do them justice.

Sam G said...

And Jack Bender

ChrisL said...

Sam G - that sounds like it was a cool event. Will have to look out for stuff appearing on YT.

Zort - good post on the Room 23 art. I think Paul's stuff is amazing. I bought a couple of the trading card sets from him and one of his sketch books a while ago and he sent me a couple of lovely signed prints of the Hurley sketch work as a bonus. He's a very nice guy and his work is great fun and very well priced.

Amy, love that Nate print!

Really wish I bought one now, the metallic ink looks amazing!

Congrats to all the Argers on that list!

Martyn said...

@ChrisL...

You are the one I am jealous of, as well as patmc, if it is him.

But a happy note to the end of a bad day for me (if you follow football), I won a Widmore Publishing Board, so in the end, i'm happy in the decision not to drive up to Glasgow for the Walt's Kidnapping reveal.

:D

I'm signing off for a while as I just saw i'm top commenter with 30, next to Amy Lynn with 14. So am going to just lurk and pack stuff up and will pop back in 2 weeks to start chatting again.

Cya!

ChrisL said...

Not a good enough reason to disappear for 2 weeks Martyn.

Sorry you had a bad day.

Martyn said...

Lol, well being on holiday has something to do with it but will be posting on the odd occasion as I'm bound to see lost related things as I go. Planning on meeting up with Hiroki too hopefully.

ChrisL said...

Going to be a very exciting trip for you. It's me that's jealous. I hope Hiroki is in better health. Give him my regards. When do you go?

Not having a bad year so far eh?! (Football aside that is) :-)

Martyn said...

True! 2010 is turning out to be an amazing year for me. Meeting you and everyone in Hawaii and going on my dream trip.

And just seen that Daniel danger is having a solo show at gallery1988 on my actual birthday, so looking at maybe going to that.

I go away on Friday and still haven't packed yet so should probably dedicate my time to that.

Hey guys, if any of you are interested - my Daniel Faraday fan poster is now for sale at www.whateverhappenedhappened.com

I hope you like it! And if you do, I would really appreciate it if you spread the word :D :D

Patmc said...

@RobPerrin & @ChrisL - Congrats on the signed comics from Jo's contest! Looks like LostARGs was well represented.

Looks like I lucked out too: I got the signed Evangeline Lilly card! (sorry @Martyn ;-) Now I'll always have a little piece of Kate for my LOST collection.

@Andrew - Awesome! I really did love all your character themed posters. I'm going to have to figure out if I have any room left on my walls first though... LOL! Do you have plans to sell any of your other posters too?

Picked up the Stout LOST poster from the USPS on Friday. It's a beauty alright! I didn't know that there was any metallic ink on it. The silver metallic makes the smoke monster look just that much better.

And my "white whale" is sailing it's way towards me! I just know that it's going to get here early in the week, and taunt me all week because it knows I can't get to the post office before closing during the week! I can't tell you all how excited I am about this one. Not only because it will be the one that will complete the set for me... but mostly because it has always been my favorite one.

My uncle was out of town this weekend (figures), so the start of my framing will have to wait another week. I'll have to bug him during the week, and see if I can run up to L.A. soon to get his help.

Off to bed now. Have a great week everyone... Lost day is only a few days away! :-)

"Dear LOST University Graduate,

Thank you for your response. Now that we have received your information, your diploma will be shipped to the mailing address you provided within 4 to 6 weeks.

Congratulations, and namaste.

LOST University
Office Of The Registrar"

Regarding "The Crash"... I really wish I weren't so psychic! LOL I just checked the USPS tracking, and it looks like it did indeed arrive at my local post office early this morning. Which means that they will attempt delivery today, and then have to hold onto it until I can pick it up. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep, knowing that the crown jewel of my collection is less than a mile from my home all week! LOL

I'm going to see if one of my co-workers would mind covering for me if I leave a little bit early tomorrow or the next day so I can race to the post office before they close. It seems only appropriate to pick up my very last LOST poster... on LOST day here in the US of A. :-)

Got my LU diploma email too! Accidentally deleted it on my iphone before I finished reading it, so glad it wasn't anything too important

Hi guys- so happy to be able to read posts today. We had a bit of a winter hurricane here that snapped huge white pine trees in half like toothpicks.

So no power or furnace or water or phone or COMPUTER for me since last Thursday night. We did lots of lugging in snow and gutter water and wood to try and keep warm and clean-kind of indoor winter camping.

But today I came home from work to find lights on! Just in time for Lost tomorrow- so all is well.

Also to read I won a bag over at Jo's and the got the diploma email-all good news.

Happy LOST Day! :D

MJCarp said...

Happy LOST Day! and congrats to all who donated over at Jo's continuing our giving ways. And I did see so many who post here won nice prizes!

ChrisL, a nice addition to your growing collection.

JT, your absence noted and glad to see you are getting back to normal. I'm glad that you can survive in your part of the world without the basics. But to be without a COMPUTER - how does one manage?

I also have a new addition to my LOST room and will send photo when it arrives later this week. It will be added to wall #2. Just out of curiosity, has anyone purchased black light for other special lights for these prints?

Jay & Jay 30 Hour Autism Speaks LIVE podcast has announced the guest lineup. Included will be Ryan and Jen from the Transmission, Jorge Garcia and Damon Lindelof. The show is held in Raleigh, N.C. at the Ice Plex starting on March 20. I will post more detail and link to Ustream when that information is available. The Lost Community/Lostargs Blog (that's all of you) have donated a Taweret statue from Gallery 1988 LA signed by Damon and Carton. I am personally donating a Stout Litho and the Mr. Cluck's chicken hat we wore in LA and now signed by Jorge Garcia to the cause. You will be amazed at the great LOST and non-LOST items being auctioned on e-Bay. All proceeds go to the Autism Foundation.

MJCarp said...

and Patmc, we all await your comments to having the final print in hand! A long journey, my friend.

Just Thinking said...

Happy Lost Day! So glad I'm not going to miss it!

LT- thanks for donating the statue in all our names-hope the auction goes well.

Andrew- I like the poster- especially the Jughead cuckoo clocks.

Martyn- good travels to you-is DD doing a show in addition to the Fenway piece for G88 that is on his website now? Oh- just thought Carlton would love to see that one-will have to twitter it to him. Am I right- he's the Sox fan and Damon is the Yankees?

Patmc-hope you make to the PO soon!

Ray said...

@LT

Thanks so much for sharing that information about the autism benefit. Having a brother that lives with this condition, I'd certainly like to make a donation. Is there a link to the event website and the auctions?

Patmc said...

@LT & @JT - Thank you both... I am in early to work today... so I can leave early to go to the Post Office this afternoon! Woo hoo! :-) It just seemed appropriate to bring home The Crash on Lost Day... I am thrilled beyond words to finally land my "white whale"! I can't wait to finally see it on my wall!

@LT - I'm going to try to integrate some black light LEDs into my lighting for a couple of the prints. I know the Dharma Mobile looked pretty slick with black light. I don't remember which other ones were UV reactive though. I'm going to have to go to Milo's site and double check...

Do you have a web address for more info on the autism auction items, and how to bid? I would love support the cause... and if I can add an item or two to my LOST collection... so much the better... :-)

Happy LOST day!

Did anyone pick up the gorgeous new Dan McCarthy piece yesterday?

Ray said...

@Amy Lynn

I had it in my cart and then said "ehh let me sleep on it". Course I woke up and it was all sold out!

Lisa-Maladylis said...

I've been sitting here with the ebay page open for a while considering selling my three prints-or not. My transmission blew in the truck. only going to cost me 2000 or so- which I don't have at all. I think I will go out in my magic barn as my bf calls it and cry out there while I figure out what to do. :-(

Sam G said...

Happy LOST Day all!

I was at the dentist when Dan McCarthy dropped his poster. It was SOLD OUT when I got home.

I decided to subscribe for the rest of the year. I actually, thought I did join after "Homeward Bound" but I can't find any confirmation from Paypal.

@Lisa-Maladylis-

Sorry to hear about your truck and your situation. Good luck getting that issue resolved.
What three prints are you thinking about selling? Depending on what you have, I could be very interested. Email JGZ350 at gmail dot com.

Thanks,
JGZ350

Unknown said...

@Lisa-Maladylis-

When you said "my transmission blew on my truck" - I couldn't figure out what you meant, because I kept thinking of the poster print "Rosseau's Transmission" and was wondering why you would ever have it in the back of a truck where it could be blown away.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

lolol Jeffery, I needed a laugh ! Thanks !

I just have the three that most people don't like so I probably won't get anyone that wants one. (which I won't mind anyway) I have the Dharma Van, Polar Bear and Barracks. I have my fingers crossed they won't have to be sold (I'm trying hard to not sell my son as well) I put a sale in my shop and have called in favors. I hate the scramble when something like this happens. God knows I've loaned enough out to pay it off many times over. Sucks to be middle class sometimes. :-)

ChrisL said...

Lisa, sorry to hear about that. Try not to let it completely ruin your LOST day. Try to forget for an hour.

I'm trying very hard not to let it ruin the rest of the day. I made cake lol Everyone needs a cake when down I think or at least this was my idea today to keep my mind off it. I also got a call from where my bf works and they are trying to find us a used one cheaper. I guess they have connections. I'm hoping hard !

Martyn said...

@Lisa...

Sorry to hear about your car troubles. Would hate for you to have to sell any of them, especially the Polar Bear! I am quite tempted to buy that again someday but for now i'm quite content with my haul. As you are with yours, i'd imagine. But as Chris suggested, forget it for today. Today is about LOST and Patmc completing his collection.

@Just THinking...

Yeah, he is doing his own solo show I believe, 3rd August. Would love to go there but chances are beyond slim. And his fenway park piece is magnificent. Said it time and time again, if he ever starts a subscription, i'm first to sign up!

@Amy Lynn...

Was very very very very very very tempted to buy Dan McCarthy's new poster but said no as I have too many posters and bought Homeward Bound last month. Severely tempted to get a sub from him. Maybe when I finish Uni and actually have a proper job.

Happy Lost day to you too ChrisL

Patmc said...

Holy cow! What a fantastic, LOST themed day today! This is the "enhanced" version of my afternoon... for those of you who don't follow me on Twitter, I'll post my image links here for you.

I got stuck on a support chat at the end of the day, so I ended up leaving about 15 minutes later than I was hoping. Luckily, traffic was relatively light on the way home, and I made pretty good time. I got to the Post Office a little after 5pm local time, but it was open until 5:30pm... so I was good to go!

Unfortunately, there was quite a line that stretched all the way into the lobby of our little Post Office, so I waited (impatiently) in line. After about 10 minutes of waiting, one of the clerks asked if anyone was there to just pick up a package. I did my best not to knock over any women or children in my dash to the counter... :-)

http://twitpic.com/16aoc5

I gave the man my "golden ticket", and after checking my ID, he went into the back to locate my poster tube. After what seemed like an ETERNITY... he returned with the tube!

http://twitpic.com/16aoy5

I was so ecstatic, that I didn't notice until I got to the car that there was a wee bit of an issue with the "integrity" of the poster tube. There was a perhaps quarter sized portion of the tube that had been caved in. As almost all of the posters I've received were in a double tube (a tube within a tube, for strength and safety), I was hopeful that it had just indented the inner most tube. More on that in just a moment...

After running a few mandatory errands on the way home... I had arrived at the big moment. After many, MANY months of regret (at missing the initial purchase), sadness (at the thought of not being able to complete my set), fear (that I would not be able to find or afford one)... and longing for "the one that got away"... it was finally time to see it in person, with my own two eyes. A lot of emotion there, I can tell you...

I carefully started cutting away the tape from the end of the tube, and gently removed the lid. I was immediately more than a little to find out that the tube was in fact NOT a double tube. So this meant, that the damage to the tube, had pushed all the way through the tube... to the contents inside.

http://twitpic.com/16b58z

I began to get a very sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. After all this time, effort and money... I could not even fathom what horror I would feel if I took the print out of the tube and it was damaged! How could the LOST gods abandon me in my penultimate moment? Curse you Smokey... or Jacob... or both of you!

(Continued in next post)

Patmc said...

(Continued...)

I gently began to try sliding the print (which as usual was wrapped in craft paper) out of the tube... but pretty quickly found out that it wasn't sliding very easily. I had visions of the tube material, punched through the print, and sticking out the other side of it. I eventually was able to wrap the print a little tighter in the tube (so it was smaller)... and very, VERY carefully pulled it out.

I turned the rolled up craft paper and print over to the side where the tube had been pushed in... and my heart stopped! The craft paper was TORN! That meant the damage had gone through the tube and first layer of craft paper! I'm pretty sure I said a quick and desperate prayer, before pulling back the craft paper and looking for the print underneath. This is what I found inside:

http://twitpic.com/16bbzx

The print was about a quarter of an inch, BENEATH the torn craft paper! I almost collapsed with relief! The craft paper on the other side of the print was slightly indented... but NOT torn! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, LOST Gods! I take back all the bad things I said about you a minute ago...

I took the rolled up tube to my bed (the lighting is good in there), and ever so gently unrolled The Crash. And... Oh... My... God! I got my first REAL look at it... and was absolutely FLOORED! It was AMAZING! The colors were so rich and vibrant compared with all the digitized versions I've always had to look at online! And from all the digital images, I had thought the detail in the image was a little bit "soft". Not even close! Everything was razor sharp, and clean edged. I'm partial to Eric Tan's style already... but this one is definitely the best of his work I've seen so far! This one is definitely going to be the crown jewel or my collection... and will be hung at the most visible spot on the wall, so I'll always be able to have a good look at it. And this is the end result:

http://twitpic.com/16bcpj

I *still* can't get the grin off my face! I didn't notice until after my wife took the picture, the dual John Locke's on the print and on my shirt. Hmmm... one is light... and one is dark... I wonder if that means something? :-)

And after all the thrills and terrors of the unpacking of The Crash... I was treated to one hell of a new LOST episode! I'm not going to spoil anything for my foreign friends... but there was a LOT going on this week! Favorite quote of the week:

"Now why'd you go and do that?"

Awesome! LOL! I think I'm going to have to watch it with my wife again tomorrow night!

And with that... I'm off to bed. I have to get up a little early to make up for leaving work early today. I'll talk to you all tomorrow! Have a great morning/afternoon/evening... depending on where you are. :-)

The Kharma Initiative said...

Hearty congratulations patmc! And thanks a lot for the rollercoaster couple of comments. You had me going there for a moment!

How the heck did you get it to flatten so quickly?

Lisa, transmission repair! That stinks! Hope you get a good deal (on a transmission or your prints). (I also thought you were referring to Rousseau at first).

I'm still astounded at my competition 9 win - my first choice. On my way to an uber-set! Only folks around here really understand what that means.

LT, thanks so much for the donation in everyone's honor. Very sweet and generous of you.

I know this isn't the site for Lost hypotheses, but I like this one a bit better than TLC. So, cover your eyes if you don't want to read one...in the next comment...

The Kharma Initiative said...

Avert your eyes, Marion! (if you don't want a Lost hypothesis)

We aren't seeing two realities or two timelines playing out. We are seeing two Destinies.

There's a good reason why that word has been used in the taglines for recent seasons.

Jacob, and Smokie, are the trapped physical representations of those two warring Destinies. They are neither human, nor alien. They are much more elemental than that. They both belong amongst the stars. That's where 'home' is for them.

Both agreed long ago that only one Destiny could exist. They set up rules so that a single Destiny could eventually be chosen.

Until that Choice is made, history progressively repeats.

It ends when the Choice is made by a person (I say Jack - he's the only one who's shown any awareness of two Destinies), the Destinies converge into one, and the Universe is made whole.

(Did you notice the song playing near the end of tonight's episode, Sundown?)

Cosmically Yours

Thanks Karma I, it's going to cost us probably over 2000 for repair. Sucks to have a big truck sometimes. No one wants posters it seems which is fine really, my bf even tried to talk me out of it lol we shall see what happens. I ended up going to bed early last night and missing Lost, the stress got to me and I was beat.

@Ray, Maybe the person you were thinking of in regards to the wall with the Dharma sign is me....

http://twitpic.com/zl1ua

....but the sign isn't wooden. It is made from a carved styrofoam-type product. I purchased if directly from the propmaker. I haven't seen another offered for sale since I purchased mine. I'll see if I can locate the propmaker's contact info if you are interested.

But I think a couple of them will be offered in the Profiles in History prop auction.

@Patmc - I really enjoyed the saga of your poster retrieval and ultimate success in completing the set. I am very happy for you.

@ChrisL & @TKI - I think that Eric must have stored his extras flat, so it's only been curled up in the tube long enough to ship to the original buyer, then on to me. Probably about a week and a half total. And... if you look closely at the picture, you don't see the very bottom, where my wife is holding onto it... LOL!

I'm still trying to process last night's episode, Sundown. The battle lines are definitely starting to become clearer! I am absolutely loving the season so far!

That's awesome for Anne! I guess I'll have to buy one to show my support of her work... :-)

I have long wanted a set of all of the Dharma hatch logos to be able to hang on my wall. I have been trying to find someone with a CNC milling machine, to carve the basic shapes and logos out of blocks of some heavy duty plastic (so it's inexpensive)... and then hand paint the raised parts black. You can find all the Dharma logos on Lostpedia, so it should be relatively simple to do. And if you can program it into a milling machine... you can do multiple copies of them for other people... :-)
