Exploring The Candidate Cave 85

A lot of people have already been receiving this poster by Guy Burwell and amazingly the poster has not yet sold out and can still be purchased at DamonCarltonandaPolarBear.com

Meanwhile if you are still making your mind up here are some close up views courtesy of RamHatter and JPL who have their posters.

I am reliably informed that the gold ink used to print the posters is very striking and that the detail is superbly crisp and clear.

Personally I'm still not sold on the mechanical / harpoon hand that Locke is holding out with the black and white stone. However the detail is certainly superb having had a look at the close up shots.

One of the numbers circles from the cave and after Jacob's campfire chat it isn't surprising that one of the other circles contains number 51

Finally a signature, number 337 out of 550, and to clear up some confusion the DCaaPB website says this is an edition of 500 however the small print at the bottom of the purchase page says there are 550, with only 500 for sale to the general public.

Looks amazing! Looks a little paler compared to the website but could just be the lighting.

Can't wait to receive all my posters now! Just got back from the framers for my Lost Uni diploma and it got the blood flowing again.

I hope it didn't taste like it looks as it looks like a foot!

@xDR JON3Sx I've said it before - You have an awesome and amazing mom.

My Candidate Cave arrived yesterday as well -#318/550. It really is spectacular. I am so antsy to see the rest of the prints in person now.

i got mine in the mail yesterday and it looks unbelievable. way better in person than on the computer. definitely get one if you still can.

#381 received yesterday. I caught my self wanting to explore this print very close up ,,checking out each detail and wanting at the same time, wanting to step back and see the entire print. Like the actual scene in the show,,the overall wonderment of being brought to a destination of exploration and then the need for detailed understanding of it , seems captured by the artist and thus given to me. This one will be Fun for a long time.

Happy holiday weekend to all in the US. I'm back home and watering plants and mowing to try and get control of the vegetation.

I ordered the Cave print the other day. To me, of all the posters it makes you sympathize with a real emotion the most. Sawyer joked and was often nasty, but you could tell from the beginning that he was in pain. I don't think he really was agonizing over whether he should join Flocke-he never trusted Smokey. But I think this view of him represents his suffering throughout the story.

Details of print is awesome. And cake looks too good to eat!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all...remember why we have this holiday....remember those who served our country.

mungonna said...

@JT..yes..Sawyer was never really comfortable. He was like the walk back from killing Cooper..barefoot and feeling pain with every step of the way.

Yea..the weeds in my front yard await me..

can someone take some decent pics please? these are absolutely terrible! high res would be great. you know what they say: if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. Unfortunately, mine hasn't arrived yet.

NEW KEN TAYLOR POSTER for sale at mondotees, would compliment his latest Lost poster quite well.

@Clay...

It's better than nothing mate!

To any fence-sitters for Guy Burwell's The Candidate Cave - get it! 58 left in stock.

I was unsure if I would ever hang this print due to the imagery. But that was before I saw it real life. I won't have any problems finding a place for this, one day.

I'm not all that impressed by metallic inks, it's just another color to me. But the parts with the gold metallic don't just shine, they GLOW. And I don't mean glow-in-the-dark. I mean GLOW in the light, like a golden Sun. Viewing the print from different angles hides and reveals different details.

The Locke Terminator arm works just fine in the context of the print. It doesn't stand out to me at all, it even makes sense. Not only does it add to the three-dimensionality of the print, but it really adds drama to the scene - it depicts the choices Sawyer has to make in a bold and forthright way.

Every aspect of the print that I had thought would make me dislike it once I saw it, instead simply WORKS, from the dot pattern, to the content, to the style, even the 'busy-ness' of it. It's great. (And no, I'm not selling mine).

Martyn, The Candidate Cave is definitely not pale - it's VERY vibrant and colorful! The blues in Sawyer's face especially made me go, WOW!

IWish said...

KI, you're the second person that used the description "three dimensional quality". I'm really looking forward to seeing this print in RL.

I think it was Clay who posted that Burwell said the first layer of the entire sheet is metallic gold ink. I'm sure it's just fabulous to look at.

Martyn said...

@KI...

Thanks, glad to hear it's not pale. Although wish it was so it'd make my decision to resist buying it harder. This and Jin and Sun.

Stupid saving up money plan!

Amy Lynn said...

If you're looking for Olly Moss' LOST print, and don't mind going to E-bay, they are going for not unreasonable prices. Under $200.

In other news, I found someone madder than me about S6 and the finale. LOL.

Happy Memorial Day, everyone. Thank you to those who serve.

Just Thinking said...

Glad to hear your review KI since I did order one. This print seems very authentic to me- if you know what I mean.

A question-didn't see anything about Lost University on the season 6 DVD information. Does anyone know if we have to buy a s6 blu ray copy to do the Masters, or can it be accessed from the s 5 disc? I was thinking maybe to get the whole set on regular DVD- just in case blu ray turns out to be a fad. I already have the s 5 bluray obviously.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

yep it says Blu Ray only... here is what it says on the LU web site
"The Craft Of Acting." While all of the classes in the Master's Program will be available on the LOST Season 6 Blu-rayTM to registered students, this seminar will only be available to those who have completed the undergraduate requirements at LOST University available on the LOST Season 5 Blu-rayTM. Don't miss out on learning the art of acting from some of your favorite LOST cast members.
It only says you need season 6 on blu ray, not the whole set.

Just Thinking said...

Thanks Lisa. So looks like maybe the whole set on DVD & s6 bluray . Well there may be some half price deals on the DVDs at some point.

Wow, this looks so much more impressive than it does on the website. Now I kinda wish I got this instead of the ken taylor, although im sure it will look amazing in person as well. Also if I had gotten this print it might of come by now. I want my print! After having to pay $40 for shipping to Australia you would expect it to come quickly :P

Ray said...

Happy Memorial Day everyone! It's AWESOME outside in New England right now. Enjoy the day!

Lisa-Maladylis said...

yes it is @Ray, I'm headed off to watch my son in a parade soon. Hey Ray, can you smell the smoke from the Canada fires where you are ? We can here which amazes me since we are in the south eastern part of NH almost at the Mass. line. have a great day everyone !

Ray said...

@Lisa

There are Canada fires? Wow, thats crazy because last night we were out on the back porch and smelled distant fire but couldn't figure out where it was from - must have been Canada!

Lisa-Maladylis said...

yep, all the way from Canada !! Amazing huh ?! it's quite heavy here but I guess in some places they got the smoke as well, we just got the smell. But I do love the smell of a camp fire- just so it's not burning my back woods here.

IWish said...

I just put up my flag. Thanks to all of you that serve.

IWish said...

I have to add...seconds after I put up my flag, there was a fly-over of fighter jets flying in v-formation over my house. They must have had an event at the Air Force base ...perfect timing. Wow.

Oh, you guys, I'm so sad right now. Jorge posted that Nunu was killed by a car yesterday. :*( Poor baby.

capostar said...

wherever you guys are who smell the smoke, you're not THAT far from it. It's only north of montreal.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

@capostar, I looked it up. I'm 300 miles from where the fires are. when you look at NH, I'm at the very bottom of it. for me, that is terribly far to smell smoke !! Poor Nunu, Jorge' posted she was killed by a car as they were leaving for the airport to go to LA- what a way to end your stay in Hawaii :-(

Ray said...

I live in CT, in fairfield county - about 15 min drive to Long Island Sound....that's pretty far from Canada!

John LaHair said...

Afternoon All,

A tip of the hat to those men and women who have and still serve.

That is sad news for Jorge.

@Ray & Lisa - beautiful weekend in Massachusetts. New England represents on LOSTARG's!!!

Very happy with the Candidate Cave - even if pictures are low-quality. :)Let's see what ships this week.

capostar said...

ok, but given the size of it with winds carrying it, it's not so unreasonable for you guys south to be detecting it. This morning the whole city smelled it--and this is in montreal. The sky is still hazy though.

Zort70 said...

Morning all, as Nunu was a star of LOST I've put a pic of Nunu on the main page.

(ok maybe not a star, but he did appear for at least a couple of seconds)

Lisa-Maladylis said...

we have a little Chi here and it just makes me so sad to think of little Nunu. We have all gotten to know her while Jorge chatted on his blog about her. I feel so bad for Jorge and Beth, what a thing to have happen on their way to the airport to leave Hawaii.
Oh and Good morning

Just Thinking said...

Thank you for finding that picture Zort. I was looking for it to add to the Lostpedia condolence thread- have done so.

Zort70 said...

JT - I had a look and saw many pictures of them both, but for some reason that one stood out for me.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

yes it would I'm waiting for my black rock and my Olly Moss to come and I would like it now :-)

Joe Stas said...

Apart from the Jacob, Lost Live and the Cave, has anyone had any of the others shipped?

Amy Lynn said...

Geez, you guys, G1988 has had two huge openings recently, plus it was a holiday weekend. Give them time.

Martyn said...

@Lisa...

Snap, those are the two posters I bought too! Great minds...

Lisa-Maladylis said...

I'm still trying to figure out where to put them Martyn. I must find some more wall space ! I think the kids rooms will be getting some awesome posters hung up in them lol

Zort70 said...

I got my Drive Shaft T from gomerch, and another item of my own creation that I will show you all tomorrow.

The Kharma Initiative said...

Seeing as at least some of these hadn't even been printed when they went on sale, particularly The Black Rock, it may still be a while before we see them. It took about four weeks for the Daniel Danger Fenway to be re-printed, and that was kind of a priority job.

Cosmically Yours

Ray said...

You guys. They need to make LOST legos. I would totally buy a black rock Lego.

John W said...

@ray,

I wish they did - would have saved me a lot of time and effort (and $). Over this past season with the help of BrickLink I was able to put together pretty decent Lego likenesses of a good chunk of the cast, plus dioramas of the hatch and Sawyer's shootout with the polar bear. Given the limitations of part availability, I'm pretty happy with the results.

Just an FYI, G1988 is not doing the shipping for this run. I just picked up my copy of Danger's Fenway print Friday (which I promptly gave to a friend as a wedding gift, kinda wanted to keep it after I saw the final product in person even though I am not a Sox fan) at G1988. I asked if they were handling the shipping and the girl working said they had hired out the shipping and packing on this run.

The status on my order of Tara McPherson's Sun & Jin has changed from 'processing' to 'queued'....I don't know if that makes any difference though since my LOST Live Hurley order from 5/14 is still showing as queued.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

if only I had a extra 600 or more for dinner with Michael Emerson. Oh well, Guess I will have to pass. Does that include the dinner ? lol

Zort70 said...

Just added some info to the front page about a charity auction with one of the lots being dinner with Michael Emerson.

Zort70 said...

Too late, Lisa has already seen the info :-)

I'm not sure if that includes dinner and drinks, it doesn't say so on the auction page.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

lol Just call me quick draw :-) I've been working on the books for the horse rescue I work for. It was nice to see something else to look at after the last 2 hours of looking at numbers.

Ray said...

My order changed to queued as well (for Tara).

Does anyone remember the name of the art gallery with the LOST show starting this weekend in NYC? For some reason I can't find it. thanks!

Amy Lynn said...

@Ray, Vilcek.

@everyone else: I am selling ALL of my prints. All proceeds go to the "Amy Lynn really wants to meet Michael Emerson" fund.

I just received my copy of the Candidate Cave yesterday and am extremely impressed with both the amount of detail and the coloring that was chosen. After picking this up I was a bit leery on if I was going to truly like it or not, but honestly...no pictures I have seen online do it justice.

Good to hear Limbofunk, mine shipped out yesterday. I had the same reservations...after reading posts about the print, I'm glad I picked one up too.

Trying to decide where the best place is to ask:
Is everybody's Daniel Danger print still in "preorder" status? Just checked my account and that's what mine says. I think Kevin said DD's take a long time to print, so I'm not too worried, but just wanted to make sure my order has not gone awry.
